Soul stop cafe in Redbridge

This is the second time I have visited this cafe. My elderly Mum wanted the prawn jacket potato with extra cost melted cheese underneath. A waiter came up to tell us he thought this was a terrible idea and why would any one do this … it would be horrible. He Eventually, he went away and we finished the meal which was ok, but nothing special. I enjoyed catching up with my Mum who was in a wheelchair and hard of hearing. I was explaining some emails to her and enlarging them so she could read them - probably on 6 people in the cafe and none seated near us. Same waiter returned saying I was talking too much and he wouldn’t be able to stand it - why were we talking so much … he then proceeded to dominate the conversation telling us what he thought. He wouldn’t let me continue talking to her, and I gave up and asked for the bill to leave. Domineering, bossy, entitled misogyny completely out of time and place and ruined my time with her due to this spoilt brat needing attention and thinking his role as a man meant he could just interrupt and dominate. Complete clown who needs serious customer skills training. He wouldn’t have done this if it was two men sitting eating and talking. The same water

Visited on Sunday after dropping son off in Victoria. Good choices and we both had 4 breakfast items. Food was cooked and service vert friendly.

I have visited this cafe on two different occasions, and with different people. It is a very comfortable cosy cafe where the staff are very welcoming and the menu comprehensive. I’ve been here for breakfast and lunch. On each occasion have felt quite at home. The meals are tasty, nicely presented and well portioned. The one outstanding feature of this cafe that I noted on both occasions is how the staff look after the customers - particularly the elderly or mobility impaired. 5 stars for ambience, customer service, value for moment, and quality.

Stopped for a quick sandwich, not as overpriced as many cafes now but you get what you pay for/average food. Breakfasts looked a decent size.

Visited today, as its first time my daughter has been out for 2 weeks, following an operation. Good choices on the menu. Staff were very friendly although we seemed to wait a long time for the meal. Portions were big.

My partner and I decided to try a new cafe. We were greeted upon arrival and all the staff were absolutely lovely. We ordered the traditional breakfasts with a coffee and tea. The drinks came out first and were piping hot which was good as they stayed hot for when our food arrived. It came out quickly and everything was delicious! We have been back a couple of times since and both service and food quality have both been amazing. This is definitely our regular cafe now so happy we found it!

I ordered a coffee, it did not arrive, enquired have you forgot the coffee, was told coffee machine broken. Then the guy behind the counter, named Ali, started swearing and being very abusive, all aimed at me. He clearly has no customer service skills and was very rude. The food was disappointing. Not worth a visit.

Not sure about eating in this place as I have not done it before but the takeaway during lockdown was reliably fast and tasted good.

A multigenerational visit where we all have favourites which we are happy to repeat regularly.A fantastic spanish omlette and salad , friendly service and good prices.

Personale poco competente e dai modi a volte poco gentili; cibo non all'altezza del prezzo: la qualità del cibo è veramente scarsa: inoltre, più volte è capitato che mi venisse portata una pietanza diversa da quella richiesta. I tempi di attesa sono davvero molto dilatati, specialmente intorno alle 13. I servizi igienici sono sporchi. Impossibile pagare con carta: è accettato solo il cash. Non ci tornerò!!

Very casual, relaxed and popular with locals. Serves good coffee and popular dishes that tasty and easy on the pocket too.

I work in South Woodford and eat here regularly , the portions are always big and the food very tasty , no compromise , the only thing that is small is the bill , great value always . The staff are friendly and the new waitresses are always chatty and get the orders right , great girls 👍🏻Always happy to walk in the place with the lunch club .

Popped in here for a quick bite and a coffee. The service was quick and friendly and there was enough available seating even though it gets very busy and the prices are a little on the high side.

Cannot believe how rude and vile a human being can be!! Shocked and appalled by how the girl at the till answered back, does she not have any manners? Maybe they should teach these waitresses or menu taking girls how to speak in a calm manner to their customers. Never ever will I be going to this place again. Disgusting manner!!

2 bad experiences in a week. Last Sunday ordered a takeaway breakfast and when got home realised there was no bacon as ordered with hash browns instead, went back again today and told them, no apology just tried to charge me more for the breakfast than advertised on menu. Won’t be trying for third time - not waitress but other guy who may have been manager very rude

My favourite local cafe. I have been here several times over the past 5 years. Offer an excellent, varied menu. Great breakfast, brunch. Full English. Eggs benedict, Welsh rarebit. Varied curries, lasagne, kebabs and a great roast. All home made. Very nice freshly made milkshakes, hot drinks, beers. Reasonably priced, friendly staff. Outdoor seating at front, and nice garden at rear.

I pop in this cafe every time I visit my friend in the area. It's always busy which is a great sign, the staff are friendly and they also have outdoor seating and heaters. This time I opted for the brunch breakfast with extra fried onion and white toast, everything as always was delicious. The service is always fast and I will be visiting again soon...there are other cafes in the area but this is always my first choice for a great non expensive breakfast and it also has a large menu of other delights.

Lots of choice for breakfast at this old favourite. And great coffee. Something for all the family. Happy new year!!

Es muy impredecible aquí, puede ser tranquilo, otras veces explotando por las costuras para que no pueda entrar, la comida es buena y el café por lo general es muy bueno, la comida cocinada fresca, el menú variado para la mayoría de las personas, pero tienden a acumularse en las fichas con una comida, mucho mejor si solo tienen la mitad de la cantidad servida, de lo contrario no hay quejas

Llegamos tarde a la hora del almuerzo pero no tenían mesas "familiares" disponibles. Estábamos preparados para esperar, pero se ofrecieron a poner mesas de 2 x 2 juntas, lo que fue bueno. De hecho, otro grupo nos vio hacer esto y también hicieron lo mismo.

Met up with a friend for tea & we had a fruit scone each which was very tasty. It was a nice afternoon & we sat out the front of the café.

This is a reasonably well priced cafe in the heart of the main street. The staff are friendly and the menu is varied also from breakfasts to dinners,burgers,sandwiches etc. Decent place to stop off for lunch etc.

We called in to a full restaurant but left as all we saw being served was bacon sausage and beans. On passing the kitchen we were not impressed with the smoke and style of cooking . Sorry not our scene

Having travelled since early morning to South Woodford, on a work errand, I was early for my meet so was looking for a sit down with a drink, the Soul Stop Cafe has a pleasant frontage, table and chairs outside and is clean and tidy inside, not a "greasy spoon".

Comimos en el Alma Parada ayer con mi hija. Ella es muy exigente con la comida, pero disfrutamos de su desayuno hamburguesa. Elegí el bacalao, patatas fritas y guisantes y aunque era absolutamente famélico no pude terminar el plato de comida enorme me presentó. "correcta" que es pescado raro estos días. Personal muy amable y eficiente. Sin duda, comer aquí.

Conveniente ubicación justo en George Lane. Desayuno perfecto - me sentía muy exigente, pero el menú tenía un montón de selección y se podía personalizar lo que queríamos en el plato muy fácilmente. No son tacaños con el tocino (siempre un plus).

Nos hemos pasado este café muchas veces en nuestras visitas a South Woodford, pero no parado. Esta mañana que necesitábamos una parada de wc (sí, un pequeño café británico con un inodoro) en nuestro pie, así compramos café y sentado un rato. Los cafés eran muy buenos, el barista haciendo de nuestro especial, y la cervecería de ambiente relajado tranquilos. El único aspecto negativo fue la radio de fondo, pero no era difícil hacer conversación entrometido. Sin duda volveremos.

it's a cafe, but it doesn't stop there.......great outside space to the rear, love the set up with sofas and old bits of furniture that just goes together and works. my favourite thing about this place, and I don't know why every cafe doesn't do it, is that you pay for the number of items you want in your all day breakfast and choose whatever you want, so if you want 3 eggs, 1 sausage, burger, chips and tomatoes, you got it.....and you just pay the 7 item price. clever.

The soul stop cafe is perfect for meals, I mostly go there for breakfast, It is always nicely presented and tastes great, the staff are all friendly.The prices are good too.

Tasty & filling, several different cooked all-day breakfast options including vegetarian & healthy, cup of tea or coffee included in the price. Very reasonably priced, much cheaper than breakfast at the hotel where we were staying.Café is just down the street from South Woodford underground station.

This used to be a lovely place to grab lunch or a coffee but in the last couple of years has been taken over and is now a greasy spoon. Food is disgusting and I can't see how it survives - surely in an area like this there is more demand for nice cute cafes?

Great café to visit, good welcome and great food, went for the veggie option and bean made coffee, it was fresh cooked and served with a smile.If your looking for quick hot drink or a full meal, this is the place to visit.All day breakfast of egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, chips, toast, or bread with a hot drink, all fresh cooked for just £5.50.Insides tidy and clean, outside seating too. Own toilets.

Can never fault this Cafe. It's by far our favourite in South Woodford, the food is brilliant and very reasonable price wise. Great for your all day breakfast! Staff always friendly! Love it

Nice lunch, great choice on the menu, clean cafe. Nice friendly staff, and very reasonably priced. My jacket potato was cooked just how I like it, and came with a generous portion of side salad and coleslaw. Nice pleasant little find, if you're in that neck of the woods.

There's a reason why this place has more negative than positive reviews and I will not be returning anytime soon. Ordered a prawn jacket and the taste of chemicals were overpowering in the prawns. The chicken wrap was just as bad, the chicken in the wrap didn't even look or taste like real chicken! One time visit only-never again! The grumpy owner just sits in the corner eating all day too, very odd.

Stopped here for a coffee and a cake before an appointment across the road. A cappuccino, tea and 2 scones £5,70!! Brilliant. The cappuccino could rival the very best and the tea was real, not gnatsy and tasteless. Staff happy, clean loo and a lovely outdoor area in the back. If we're in the area again we will definitely return!

This is the second time my hubby and I have eaten here and each time we have found the service to be quick and friendly. It's a little more expensive than other local cafes but I believe the food is worth it. The breakfast menu offers diners a mix and match option which is nice. Although it was very packed on Sunday, we managed to find a table and were served straight away. Seating area outside (photo) and a nice atmosphere. We'll definitely visit again.

Popped in one morning for some brekky and so glad we did. Really good sized portions and lovely coffee too. nice outdoor seating area and friendly efficient service. will return next time in area. good value too.

Having returned the microwaved scrambled egg - piled on two greasy slices of Warburton doorstep thick toasties - I realised that the Soul Stop had indeed stopped. The coffee was simply awful and the experience in total a great disappointment.Go to The Larder in Wanstead to see how it ought to be done.

I never bothered trying before as the staff were always smoking outside and were very rude to my friends once. It has now been taken over byI thinkTurkish people. I went with friends the weekend and a miserable waitress gave us a large sticky menu with 100s of items on there expecting us to order and decide right away. Food and tea was nice as was the coffee. Sauce bottles clean and a Squeezy Colemans mustard (no dirty knives in).Few unsavoury tramp like men in there with dribbling noses and lots of Turkish blokes speaking foreign put me off returning. Nice pictures on walls

Nice coffee bar with some loveley cakes and light snacks.Good place to meet,on top of all the shops and near Central line South woodford station.On a nice warm day you can sit outside.

Waited 20 mins to even get acknowledged we was there. The food when it did come was awful. The staff might as well be sponsord by benson and hedges as they only wanna smoke. Would never step foot in here again for as long as I live

This place is the cafe from hell You can't get served as the staff are always somewhere else, smoking I expect from the smell of them. The food is overpriced for a breakfast that was so burned that the lady that put it in front of us, if she didn't cook it should have taken it right to the bin and not our table, and the manager is a rude, crude and awful person. We tried to complain but was basically moaned out in a rather aggressive yet effeminate way. Don't do in, even Greggs is better than this place.

The Manager (Ian) is the most insulting man any customer would be unlucky enough to find!He is bad tempered and downright rude.Staff constantly smoking and no handwashing afterwards - poor hygiene

The staffs main concern is to smoke cigarettes not to serve punters. They smoke at any opportunity. They never seem to wash their hands afterwards.

2nd time we have been for an all day breakfast.Good location in the High Street. They DONT TAKE CREDIR CARDS.First time (1 month ago) they didn't do table service and I had to order for 6-7 people from memory. This time I am pleased to say that do...Food was tasty - as expected.Service was quite bright and friendly.

We went to the Soul Stop cafe for breakfast. Almost all of my full english breakfast was burned and tasted awful. My wifes salmos bagel was also burned and really hard.The service was really good and friendly but really let down by the food.
