Me and my partner come here to eat the reviews looked good so we thought we would give it a try. I got a chicken sandwich with chips & full breakfast it wasn’t fresh at all the stuff don’t really smile no background music. On the plus side the coffee was not bad. A lady come in from outside didn’t wash her hands 2 men come in was eating over the counter they seemed to know each other. Wouldn’t come here again not even for the coffee

The coffee is good and the owners are friendly enough, they serve you quickly and they bring your food and drink to your table which is a plus these days. The place is really small without many sitting inside and just a couple of tables outside. The big minus is the bathroom which is on the basement floor that is tiny and not easily accessible.

The best masala chai with Peri peri chicken panini, you can ever have. Being an Indian, I have always craved for some Indian touch in the tea and the spiciness in the food. This place gives you all.

Food quality was not so great. The staff was friendly. We had breakfast there and we ended up leaving the sausages completely untouched. Didn't taste nor look good.

Today I ordered 2 coffee one espresso and one macchiato. But coffee is very cold and cup also.staff is no smile,and price is very high.they don’t know how to make coffee.

I ordered a veggie panini but what I’ve got instead was a jalapeño panini!!! Disgusting! Only Mayo, jalapeño and a couple of sliced olives inside….. I would not recommend… Since I’ve been eating there for the past 2 years, I can easily say that the quality of their services went down. The staff changed too, and not for the better…

Average quality food . The both Asian ans European last are very friendly and hard worker but the man try to be British unfortunately need to know how to communicate with clients and improve communication skill with British standard manner.

I have been to this restaurant on 2 occasions and neither has been a good experience overall. I've had better value meals in Central London. Anyway, it has now closed down.

The food on offer at this Sunday Buffet is excellent. Not a huge variety but certainly covers all the main Thai specialities, from spicy Thai crackers, Papaya Salad, spring rolls, satay chicken and peanut sauce for starters, amongst other starter dishes, mains include a Thai green chicken curry, massaman beef curry, pad thai and lots more. The restaurant has been around a very long time, and aI have been a few times as a very special treat. Adult buffet prices are reasonable and es expected. If taking children over 2 or 3yrs of age, there is a charge, even if children do not eat much. Children of that age rarely do. Older children who appreciate Thai food might do well.

This is now our ultimate favourite thai spot! We have tried out so many places but nothing beats the authenticity of Elephant Royale. The food portion size is huge, taste delicious and full of flavour feels like pure homemade thai cuisine. If you want a little spice in your food just ask thats what we do and it tastes even better! Writing this review just after eating our mains here and we are already planning our next trip and we haven’t even had our dessert yet. If your looking for a traditional, authentic, homemade spot for thai food this is the place trust me you won’t find better we tried and came right back here!

The occasion was a dinner with friends. My wife and I had not been here for some years and will be in no hurry to return. Nothing specifically wrong with it. but I find the food bland (even when spicy). It doesn't seem to have moved on - all the usual dishes are here. Wies abnd drinks were ok. Price reasonable. If you partcularly like Thai food it is just ok.

After an exhausting day in London, this was such a pleasant and delicious dining experience, when you need someone else to do the cooking! A tantalising menu of eastern delights to satisfy all tastes. We'll be back!

I’ve been dining at this restaurant on and off for 20 years and I cannot fault either the food or the service even once throughout this time. The place is always clean and well kept and the staff are friendly, caring, professional, jovial and approachable. My husband and I went there this evening for dinner and the staff could not have been more helpful. I have developed a number of serious food allergies in the last two years, which can be a real challenge. The staff took my allergies very seriously. They took the time to go through the whole menu with me, talked to the chef, and went out of their way to ensure I would be able to eat and drink safely in their establishment without a diminished experience. At no point did they make me feel that my allergies were a difficulty they didn’t want to deal with, and they cooked my food to my requirements to ensure I wouldn’t become ill. The food was delicious. We both had a wonderful night. Five stars every time. We cannot recommend them enough. Thank you Elephant Royale!

I used to dine at this restaurant when I lived closer but hadn’t done so for a while. When I noticed that I could get a home delivery using Just Eat I thought “great!”.I placed an order and was given an estimated delivery time of 7:45pm. I kept checking my app and at around 7:50pm the status changed to delivered, even though my food hadn’t arrived. I waited a few more minutes and then rang the restaurant to find out what was happening. They apologised for the delay which they blamed on the weather but assured me that it was on its way to me. I waited a further 15 minutes (it should take no more than 10 minutes to be delivered to me) and rang the restaurant again. This time I was told that the food was ready but there were no Just Eat drivers available. They gave me the option of waiting or cancelling the order. As the food was probably going to be stone cold by then I decided to cancel the order, which they did.However, I am extremely annoyed that the restaurant lied to me first by marking the order as being delivered when it hadn’t been, and secondly for saying that it was on it’s way to me when it wasn’t.Obviously, a lack of Just Eat delivery drivers is out of the restaurant’s control and if they had rung me earlier to explain the situation I would have been very understanding. But to lie to me and lead me on that everything was OK is inexcusable.Needless to say, I have lost all faith in this restaurant and will look elsewhere for my Thai food needs!

We use to come here regularly but moved. I've given 2* because the service is awful! We waited 20 mins before someone served us a drink, then food came quicker than drinks! Trying to get another drink was even worse. When we finally order 2nd drink we had finished meal so asked for bill. That took minutes as the waiter obviously forgot. Finally when I asked the manager for it I also asked it without the service charge. He could not apologise enough.The food thou was delicious and hot.....It's a shame cos I missed the restuarant and hoped to of gone back, but no chance!!

Nice little coffee shop by Gants Hill station. They do lovely paninis and coffee. Definitely going there again.

Good food, but some portions could be bigger. This place has been here since I was a kid and the decor is still pretty much the same. The staff watch you as you eat, which can be a little off putting, but they are just trying to make sure customers get the best service.

Great food and service as always. Definitely one of, if anything, the only classy restaurants in Gants Hill. Bit pricier than other restaurants in the area, but it’s worth it. Only downside is parking is a nightmare.

I have eaten here several times as there are not many Thai restuarants around the area. I think the food is decent and service is good. I'm sure there are better places around but I'll stick to this place until I find a better place.

Over all quite good pricey. Deco is a bit dated. Food was overpriced and most of the dishes were quite sweet, seemed like there was perhaps alot of palm sugar used. The only thing which was a hit with everyone was their thai fish cakes

Thai food was really good for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The menu has clear allergy information which is great to see. I asked for gluten free vegetarian options and had a yummy green curry and rice noodles with vegetables. The aubergine dish and yellow chicken curry went down well. The waitress was very helpful and the food came out quickly. We will definitely be back.

I have eaten at Elephant Royale on 4 occasions. Always good food, service and a nice ambience. Offer a great Sunday buffet. Recommend green or red chicken curry with jasmine rice. Duck spring rolls and sticky barbecue ribs.

Food was excellent, fresh and tasty. Unlike any other restaurant I have been to. Great staff and service, will definitely return again to try out their extensive menu Interior decor is really good with a private dining section for bigger groups. Totally recommend to all!

We contacted the Elephant Royale at short notice after being let down by another Thai restaurant. They accommodated us and the food and service were superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I visited with a friend, on a whim, on a Saturday night. The food was really delicious - I had spring rolls and a lovely Mussaman lamb. We had the dry house wine which was very smooth (more medium than dry though IMHO). The service was friendly and attentive, the food came quickly, the restaurant had a nice buzz and there was live musician from a guitar player / singer. Highly recommended!

Love Thai food? You will find this a great restaurant particularly on a Sunday as they offer a great buffet spread for a reasonable cost of around £20/head excluding drinks. Recommended!!

Went with foreign visitors, friends. Service was good by the waiters. To begin with some starters were tasty such as prawn tempura, spring roll, chicken satay. Despite it was requested not to mix items with pork items, there were pork items on the same plate. Drinks, smoothies were made with care. As a group we tried various main prawn, chicken dishes, vegetables within the dishes didn't taste fresh. Overall foods were pricey too. Will avoid in future....

As always an enjoyable experience .Lots of choice from the budget and good delicious. We have visited many times and have not been disappointed.

This was our final visit after almost 25 years. We don’t visit often but the decline in taste and standard of food is obvious.

They have the buffet on a Sunday and the choice of food and desserts is very good. We arrived at 2pm and there was still plenty of food and choice. I don't know if this would have been the case had we arrived later as I've read some of the other reviews saying the buffet was cold and not very good. There were 6 of us and we all enjoyed it. The cocktails are good too. The staff were very polite and friendly and we would definitely go back.

I love this place. Been here many times i cant count! Great location as well. The vibe in here is amazing. Lovely aqua fish waterfalls, dinner and dance bookings, pianist, evening music. So special for a special occasion for couples and families. Very romantic for couples. Cake cutting surprise as well. Separate bar for hot and cold drinks. Cosy. Food is amazing. So much choice variety. Waiters provide a top and friendly service. Cant complain. Love it. Thank you all at Elephant Royale!

I have visited the Dockland branch while it was still open which is now closed and they have moved to Gants Hill. The food at the Dockland branch was up to standard and tasted very nice.

My only advise to anyone thinking about going to this restaurant is DON’T!! Terrible customer service to terrible food!!

Sometimes the service can be a bit slow even when the restaurant is not busy. Overall great food and our favourite Thai place in the area.

I read the reviews before booking a table at this restaurant. Mostly good. Some bad. But we decided to give it a go. I made sure I booked a table just in case as it looked quite busy the time I drove past.

Comfortable, cosy setting. Buffet lunch offering selection of Chinese, Thai food - average, found almost everything too sweet, even the noodles.

I went to the Elephant Royal for it’s Sunday Buffet for £16.50 per person. There was a variety of dishes - I had pork ribs, prawn roll, chicken satay, duck, spicy beef, beef massaman to name some of the dishes. All very tasty although some dishes could have been hotter ( temperature). We also had dessert profiteroles and coconut creme - there were other things. All in all good value for money. The actual restaurant is beautiful with a little pond with bridge and carp swimming around. The restaurant also has a great selection of reasonably priced cocktails from £5.50 - £ 8.50

Taken some guests for dinner but was disappointed with quality of food, although service was good. Tried Beef Curry which was very disappointing as beef was tough and also it seems that they use lot of coconut milk in all curries (I have recently eaten the same in Malaysia and there was no comparison).

Must say this place is continuing its great standards, friendly staff and awesome food. Would come here again!

This is one of our favorite eating places. Great for a family lunch and the Sunday buffet is the best ever. Only 16 pounds and plenty to chose from. A bit disappointing for vegetarians now though, they used to provide a whole 'mini-buffet' plate for each veggie, but now that has reduced to picking one main option from the menu and making do with the (very few) veggie items on the main buffet. That aside though, it is still a great place to eat lunch and has the most wonderful staff. Look out for the friendliest Thai-Jamaican who will welcome you with open arms if you are from Kingston!

I visited this place approximately two to three months ago with my friends. The food and service were good, but I was left bitterly disappointed when I was told that their vegetarian food was fried in the same oil the meat and seafood etc is fried in. In my opinion, this restaurant is not vegetarian friendly and unfortunately me and my friends won't be going there again.

A first time visit to this restaurant on a quiet weekday evening. The service was very good, the food freshly prepared and well presented. The mixed platter of starters is a good choice to get an idea of the quality of their food. Our main courses were a real delight: spicy but not overpowering and plentiful. I would certainly recommend seeking out this place - very near the main roundabout at Gants Hill. The place is quite large, so I expect there are times when it must get very busy: but we enjoyed a quiet time. Thank you.

We've tried the buffet for the first time here even though we've visited this restaurant several times. There were decent number of starters and limited main courses but the quality of the food was really good and as always the deserts are the best...

An hour late the Food turned up stone cold and soggy, beef tasted like chemicals, sweet and sour chicken tasted like it was made last week, the pineapple was acidic as example. The management weren't interested despite us being loyal customers, were quite rude so they have lost out business now forever.

we came here as it was my sisters birthday. The decor is wonderful with dark wood, thai statues and buddhas in wood, with wicker chairs. We had chicken satay, curry crab, padthai, vegetables, coconut rice....all very delicious. The dessert we had 2 scoops of ice cream, with a choice so i chose raspberry sorbet and pistachio. the cream pistachio ice cream was to die for. It was a lovely evening with great service. we will definitely go again.

I have been coming here for a good many years and as always, the food is really great. I went last night (14.02.17) and it was the usual lovely atmosphere and the food at its normal high standard but the service was absolutely awful. We had to book in advance given it was valentines night and it was busy (about 3/4 full)! We were one of 4 party's that ended up taking food home. It was a set menu for the night but firstly took 25 minutes to order and get drinks, then another 30 minutes to get starters and 40 minutes to get the second course! We did keep on asking but there were so few waiters. After waiting another 38 minutes - so 2 hours 13 minutes we just asked for the rest to be given as a take away which then took another 29 minutes!!!I understand it's a busy night but considering that it was reservations only with a deposit at the time of booking, they should have been far better prepared. The levels of staffing were grossly inadequate and I know the other 3 couples were unhappy and it had ruined their evening. It would be a shame for such a long standing and great iconic restaurant to fall because of this.

We had been going to this Thai restaurant for over 10 yrs...we have enjoyed many a good meal with family and friends, celebrating birthdays and other occasions with smiling waitresses dressed in stunning silk outfits...they would chat and have a banter, encouraging us to try new Thai desserts by giving us free tasters which became a regular order subsequently... the restaurant was always PACKED and we always walked out with a stem of gorgeous orchids and a really happy feeling inside.Then they all disappeared...slowly got replaced by miserable sullen staff dressed in all black, rude, rolling their eyes if we requested a different table even though the restaurant was empty...After being treated terribly at a birthday dinner we decided to never go back there. A year later we were craving the delicious food so decided to do a takeaway instead. We were so surprised to be greeted by beautiful smiling faces-new faces, and the food was even better than before! We went back three times in 2 months, this time we ate there and were in heaven! As a vegetarian, I have not tried better food elsewhere, including in high end London restaurants. The new manager Keow is BRILLIANT. The staff are switched on and smile..and the chef..he is amazing! We are back to ordering our regular dishes..if you are vegetarian then you will probably love this menu! Even my meat eating friends agree it is super yummy!Starters: papaya salad, spring rolls, tom yum hed, corn cakesMain meal: Coconut rice (no where in the world does better coconut rice and that is all my 5 yr old wants when we go, although they can make a non spicy stir fry with seasonal veggies), chuchi tofu, aubergine pla prik (crispy melt in the mouth chef's special covered in sweet spicy sticky sauce), morning glory, jungle prince,and more coconut rice..the royal fried rice is yummy too! Dessert: any of the Thai desserts are yum, coconut flan is yummy! And Jasmine tea of course! Enjoy!

5 adults and one child, had an early meal. Nice restaurant in side, a little bridge inside with large fish in the water underneath, not for eating tho'. Staff are very welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. A large varied menu, a good selection for one of our party who is vegetarian and also has a peanut allergy. The starters were very enjoyable, we have all been to Thailand and asked for our meal to be quite hot and extra chilli sauce. It was exactly as asked for. Only three of us had room for a dessert, a good night was had by all.

I have visited the Elephant Royal on several occasions and have never been disappointed.Located conveniently 2 minutes’ walk from Gants Hill Underground station the décor of the Elephant Royal is great – so Thai!The waiting staff are excellent; great service, very friendly and always willing to provide advice on the lovely Thai cuisine. Well worth a visit.

Good food and excellent entertainment on New Years Eve. It was a shame people left before midnight and didn't have a dance!!

I went to Elephant Royale in Gants Hill with my partner and two children on Xmas eve. The decor is lovely and enhances the Thai experience. The service was good and the food was excellent. They have an extensive menu with lots of options for vegetarians and seafood lovers. The prices are decent as the food is worth it. I totally recommend this restaurant. We will definitely come back on a different occasion as we would like to enjoy the restaurant at full capacity.

We booked a table for 8 in advance for a group lunch. Arrived on the day & restaurant was all but empty - starters arrived in ok time but when it come to the mains it was a long wait and the the 1 & only waiter told me they had only 1 chef in that day so sorry for slow food service. Mains come our 1 by 1 and about 10mins between first & last which wasn't good. One customer was brought out his rice after he had finished his main curry dish - not good. No reduction off bill & a £28 service charge added should of been removed. Customers 1hour lunch overrun. 7 people 2soft drinks each & the Bill was over £300 ouch!

Reasonable restaurant but I would not say it was something special. portions were large and soft shell crab I had was quite nice. Good place to meet up with friends.

Went here Saturday night at 9pm we were the only 6 people in the whole restaurant and that's how it stayed all night. Food was acceptable tasted more like Chinese food than Thai. Service was really good during the meal until we were finishing and they started to set up tables for Sunday buffet and we were made to feel like they couldn't wait for us to go If you're looking for a quiet meal for two this restaurant would be good. It lacked a bit of atmosphere with no other diners in there.

The food was good and the staff were really friendly. I remember that the Ramesh of starters was high and really good mains with plenty in terms of quantity. It's a restaurant I like to visit every couple of years at least - the decor and furnishings are exceptional and transport you to a very exotic location.

Friendly staff, had a very good business lunch. Good food and value for money. We had the chicken massaman curry. Mixed strters of prawns, spring satay chicken ang chicken parcels. Cocconut dessert was good they gave ny friend mixed fruit as she is dairy intolerant. Would come again.

Yesterday we went there for a takeaway, the waitress said that there would be a 15min wait so we made an order. 25 minutes later we were still waiting and when I approached one of the waiters he rudely said 'I will check later' and when asked ' Later when' he said 'Later, later when I am done here'. How rude! That's not the way to treat customers!

This restaurant has a superb Sunday buffet with a wide range of authentic Thai delicacies, lovely seafood, perfect Tom Yam and a relaxing and attractive environment. We have used this restaurant for years and it improves with age!

Disappointed, Service, Food and Prices. Not a great dining experience I felt the restaurant was under staffed and it showed..
