Soul Curry Yarm in Stockton-on-Tees

A great place, food is fantastic, unlike some Indians this is a quality Indian restaurant. The selection of dishes from different regions of India is great. If you want to try something different and are unsure, just ask Ravi or his staff. They will guide you on the best selection.

Food here was excellent however the customer experience was poor. Tables left uncleared for half an hour after dinners have left. In a fairly empty restaurant we were seated next to the toilets. We moved- it then took half an hour to get cutlery and serviettes. After the popadums! One pickle tray between 9- we asked for more- didn’t arrive then after we were told there should have been more. Generally little attention to detail. The waiters and waitresses were polite and nice. I would say just badly managed. I will reiterate though- the food was lovely. Excellent chef. I hope this is seen as helpful rather than slating. We want a decent curry restaurant and the food was great.

Tasty food ..... good option for an Indian takeaway

We were looking forward to a night out in Yarm for my husbands birthday, our table was booked for 7.30 at Soul Curry. We felt cold inside the restaurant and asked to be moved to a table further inside the restaurant but we still felt cold throughout the evening. We had to ask to order our food as nobody came to us , the starters were delivered in good time and were tasty. We then sat for a long time waiting for our mains , at 9.15 we decided to leave as the wait was just too long. Management informed us there had been a technical problem with our mains order and they apologised and offered the whole meal for free and we took our mains away with us as a takeaway. This was a good gesture but wasn’t the evening we had expected. We had a taxi booked for 10 which we thought would have given us ample time to have a relaxing meal and a drink afterwards. The mains food which we then ate at home at 10.15 was delicious but just too late in the evening.

We enjoyed a lovely Indian meal at soul curry last night. Food was delicious, service and atmosphere was warm and friendly. Efficient service with our server Izzy being really helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait for our next visit.

I attended your venue in Yarm on 16th December for our departmental Christmas meal.  I was very very apprehensive of attending for a couple of reasons, one of them being that I'm not very adventurous food wise, I'm pretty basic with what I eat and tend to stick with what I know.  However, each course I found something that I enjoyed and overall your food was amazing.  I enjoyed our Christmas night out and your food.  Plus each and every member of staff I had contact with were professional, happy and helpful. So much so that I'd even go so far as recommending your restaurant to others and even coming again myself.

I was with a large party so we had a bit of a wait before all the food came out but my meal was quite dry and overcooked. Service was good and a decent pint of Cobra.

Just had a lovely meal with friebds,food is great,atmosphere is nice,place is clean and tidy,staff are polite and friendly,prices are very reasonable,i would reccomend and will return.

Ordered a takeaway for collection. Food was given to us promptly when we arrived to pick it up, atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and the food was lovely 🙂.

Been twice and both times they’ve overcharged us. Upon paying the bill (including the greedy 10% service charge they add), they wouldn’t give me a refund through the card reader or cash, I had to push for it back the following day after being told it would be paid by bank transfer straight away. Food is very average. Won’t be going back

I think this is a relatively new restaurant in the center of Yarm high street. The Brunch menu was excellent and they even made us Dosa (South Indian street food) by special request. The service was excellent and all the food we had was beautifully cooked and tasted divine! The Masala Fish was my favorite and comes highly recommended. despite being 40 minutes from our home we will definitely return.

Excellent brunch at the restaurant. The staff went above and beyond in providing Dosa which was not on the menu- it was excellent! We also had the masala fish and chicken pakora - again really really tasty! Great brunch here - you need to ask for the Dosa with the peanut and coconut chutney!

Dhruv and the team Alex izzy on the 30th of spet were absolutely fantastic with their knowledge & service making sure I got top quality Indian cuisine for the first time. So I was blown away by the experience within soul curry Yarm branch.

Would highly recommend visiting this place, located on Yarm High st. There’s parking directly outside. Great customer service, topped up my J20 drink without been asked. Tasty food, and great atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting!

We went for the Sunday brunch and cannot speak highly enough of the food. We had five of the dishes, sharing between us. The Aloo Tikki Chat was a surprise and for us the best, a really interesting mix of flavours and crunchy/soft ingredients. Available 11-4 at the weekend and highly recommended. We live an hour away and will be back!

Excellent food and great service . Can't wait to go back, our waiter couldn't do enough for us. We opted to try something different from our usual dishes and we were not disappointed. Food tasted fantastic and much more of an authentic taste.

Very disappointed with the meal. Two different chicken dishes ordered yet both tasted the same. Extremely salty and lacking in spice and flavour. Disappointing because this used to be very good .

All the usual curry house favourites, but some really lovely curries I'd not come across before. Railway lamb curry - inspired by the mild curries served on long trains journeys. Also lamb Naga - a gorgeous hot curry. Staff were lovely! High standard of service. Will definitely come again if in the area!!

Ordered a take- out chicken jalfrezi, onion rice and garlic naan.Jalfrezi was on par with madras ,heat wise but food was excellent quality and very tasty.Look forward to the next visit.

Tried Soul Curry for the first time tonight since it opened What can I say service great, food quality, the flavours oused out of the dishes, highly recommend and prices reasonable

The food was ok. Customer service was good. Felt a bit expensive. The atmosphere was too bad due to one family. They were so loud that it was so disturbing to others.

unbelievably poor quality takeaway food this evening. Not authentic food in the slightest. place is nice and clean and smart but food was not good. chips were frozen chips, the balti sauce tasted like it was from a jar in sainsbury's and the chicken was not fresh cooked chicken breast. As a former takeaway owner myself i was very disappointed with my first visit here. Perhaps a big red flag should have been that we were the only people in the place at 7pm on a thursday evening

Lovely food, definitely one of the best Indians I have had flavour wise, also was delivered quickly. However, disappointed at portion size on curry itself. Ordered 2 chicken currys, which is normally enough for us, but it was basically spot the chicken! Not enough chicken to go around 4 people, which was disappointing considering the price was £9.90 per curry. All sides were good though, onion bargees are HUGE and 3 in a portion, naan was as good as they get as was rice.

First visit. The worst Indian takeaway we've ever had. King prawn puri consisted of four prawns and a very small piece of bread. Keema naan was really soggy. Tender cubes of lamb with spinach base was more like mince with a few strands of spinach. Butter chicken consisted of 5 small pieces of chicken. Really disappointed.

An amazing eating experience here at Soul Curry. Incredible food. My wife and I are from Bradford so we have a lot of experience when it comes to Indian Cuisine. Soul Curry is a fantastic place to eat. The Bhajis were light and crispy (not doughy) and the mains were all fantastic. The butter chicken was gloriously creamy and lightly spiced to perfection. The Chicken Dupiaza was perfectly balanced between the amounts of chicken and onion. Lightly spiced in a very nice base/gravy. We also had a garlic chilli chicken which was equally as beautiful as our other main dishes. Heavily spiced to perfection with a perfect garlic chilli hit! The quality of the meat was very very good too. The service was excellent and all the staff were very polite and friendly. All in all, we loved it here and will be visiting many more times in the coming weeks and months. As Curry lovers, and new residents to yarm, we have been searching for a great Indian Restaurant. So happy we have found Soul Curry. See you again very soon (next weekend).

Ordered a delivery for three of us, food arrived on time, but very disappointed with the portion size. Korma was full to the brim but more sauce than chicken. Jalfrezi seemed to have missed the serving spoon as was only just over half full. Tiny naan. Salad wouldn't have fed a hamster it was so small. Onion bhajis were however tasty and a decent size. Food did taste good but it's the first time I've had a takeaway and thought I'm still hungry and need something else to eat. Sorry Soul Curry, won't be ordering from you again.

Their chicken tikka shashik was to die for. Chunks of tender chicken breast all charred on the outside, delish! The side accompiament of mint yoghurt is so yummy you could drink it by the pint!! Add sliced onions n peppers as well..... Yum yum!!

Having used Soul Curry's takeaway service frequently since they opened my wife and I decided to take a visiting friend to the restaurant. We told him of the great quality of food we've tried and hoped that the same would be presented in house - we were not disappointed. My wife likes spicy food less these days and ordered King Prawn Mazedar. Our friend was keen to compare with his favourite King Prawn Biryani, and I ordered Chicken Tikka Rogan Josh. For starters we had poppadoms with 4 assorted chutneys, a fish Amristari and 'Chicken 65'. It was absolutely amazing quality and presentation, the taste was that of fresh ingredients cooked by someone who really cared about what they served. Incidentally, the Biryani was by far the best our friend had tasted (and he's a well travelled foodie) and we were pleased that our recommendation was spot on. We can't fault the meal or cheerful service and would recommend Soul Curry Yarm to lovers of tasty Indian food. We also took up the suggestion of the South African Pinotage which paired well with the spices in all the meals, as well as being cheap for restaurant prices. Great place and great value - three starters, three mains (two of which were King Prawn) and two bottles of good wine for less than £40 per person!

The fella who welcomed us needs to learn some customer service. Went in as a large group and when reading out the dishes we had to ask a couple of times for him to repeat them… well his reaction to this was like we’d been the biggest inconvenience of the day. Food was average and orders were wrong or came late despite using lovely fancy iPads to take the order. However the only thing that brings this to 3 stars is how excellent the young waitresses were. Nothing was too much for them (unlike the other fella) had patience when we asked questions about dishes. An absolute credit to the place.

Very tasty meals that are a little different to the usual Indian restaurant. Prices are surprisingly good as well which adds to the feeling of a good night's dining.

Loved the food, atmosphere and decor. Just to be over critical there was a lot of pee in the gent's on the floor but there was a large gang of lads at one table and outside staff on doorstep smoking. The food , drinks and service were great and we had a great meal. Would go back but hope the management take notice of my comments

Wouldn't recommend ordering for delivery, ordered on a Sunday. Delivery didn't turn up rang them to be told are you sure you ordered from us. Eventually said they'd found it and would be with us in a couple of minutes. Arrived an hour late asked us for payment even though we'd already paid, no apology at all! Food freezing cold needed to reheat it all in the microwave which made it chewy, ruined the onion bhajis. Food was actually good and tasty, just service was really disappointing. It may be better if you eat in the restaurant but certainly won't be ordering a take away again.

very good restaurant at a very good price. the dishes are varied and excellent. be careful not to listen to the waiter when he says that it's not too spicy because depending on the dish, it's tough

Amazing curry!! Very happy we tried Soul Curry, as our favourite was closed tonight, but this was even better. We have our new favourite. Staff very nice, food so tasty and portions are sizeable. Mixed grill was the best we have had and our curry was 10/10.

Visited Soul Curry on 17th November during restaurant week with my wife and two friends. The food was beautiful and the service was excellent. Lovely cold beers too. The staff were very friendly and explained the dishes. Definitely & highly recommended. Thanks!

We tried 'Soul' for the first time last night. All four of us were impressed with the new staff, decor, food and menu. (Even lovely little bottles of prosecco on the menu now). All four of us had different meals and loved our food; so tasty and the portions plentiful. Please try 'Soul' and make it a popular place to go. It deserves it. We will be back.

Attended the launch of this new Indian Restaurant in Yarm High Street last night. Wonderful range of delicious and different food, friendly, attentive staff and vibrant atmosphere. This will definitely be a new regular favourite place to eat and socialise. Excellent work on the refurbishment!
