Been using this takeaway for over 30 years never have I had food as I did tonight found chicken bone and chicken neck bones taste was awful rice over cooked not the first time I’ve been disappointed with my meal but just put it down to a bad day like I said always use this place but enough is enough phoned to complain told give you money of your next order sorry but your not getting any more of my money End of an era

Ordered last night and the food was amazing!! I’ve been going to shalimar since as early as I can remember, being a toddler and parents ordering it, and I’m now 28.. it’s always been the best Indian takeaway. Even when I moved away I’d come home and look forward to getting one. The standards slipped recently, I was a little disappointed with one or two, but I ordered last night and the shalimar is back on top form. The delivery was fast and food was beautiful. Keep up the good work because it really is the best Indian around and I don’t want to go else where. The chips are gorgeous aswell. No one does it like the shalimar! Im not usually one for reviews but I enjoyed it that much it had to be said.

Definitely avoiding this place , if you want chicken bones and cartilage in your curry then this is the place for you , but definitely not me !!! And I paid extra for the supposed better breast meat !! Discussing is all I have to say

Shalimar has been my life line for curry since I started on this fantastic takeaway journey 10 years ago. I don’t think I would ever order from any other takeaway now! I travel the country for my job and love a good curry! Bud they are the best and always do their upmost to please the customer. Mild or spicy you need to try this place. I order from here near enough on a weekly basis and they still go crazy for me! The staff, chefs and delivery experts are all polite and accommodating. Nothing but love from a loyal customer!

The food here is absolutely disgusting. The chicken used is clearly old and reheated- smelt disgusting. The tikka masala sauce just tastes like a sharp tomato sauce used for pasta- not creamy or a nice flavour at all. Hard pieces of chopped onion, not properly softened and cooked down. Horrible vegetable curry- just lots of peas and mushrooms. Some items burnt. Just really really low quality overall. I’m disgusted that they can send that out to paying customers. Absolute lack of respect.

There Tarka Dahl is fantastic. Always get three or four and keep them in the freezer.

The “chicken tikka masala” is more like chicken soup. Absolute waste of money.

Was looking forward to shalimar opening back up as my favourite takeaway. Very disappointed chicken was shredded and only just warm . Not sure if the have gotten a new chef if so bring the old one back

Absolute disgrace wouldn’t waste my time or money again felt sick trying to eat the food chicken korma looked nothing like one had no taste what so ever chicken was hard. Keema rice and nann taste like s****. Chicken tikka masala was more tomato’s than anything and the chicken what was in it was rock hard must have needed bining last week

Food arrived quickly, good sized portions and delicious. Overall I found it a little expensive though.

Had takeaway tonight naan bread uncooked , mixed kebab was like an over cooked burger and curry lacking any flavour at all. Definitely gone down the nick in the last few months..

Hi had lamb curry and lamb madras was OK but not as good as the billingham balti house didn't take long for delivery

Last few takeaways have been disapointing, the chips are like bullets, the naan has lost its flavour and either soggy or rock hard. Last order food was missing and it turned up in a taxi about 30 mins after finishing the rest of the food. Wont be going back. Its not the old Shalimar.

Have not had an Indian Takeaway for a year or two and was very happy to find that nothing has changed at Shalimar. Quick delivery of a very tasty dish that was packed with tender meat, Cannot fault the place for a nice quality take away.

Absolute discracfull mixed kebab all thre dried up bits of kebab tasted the same diferent shapes one dipped in egg. Kink prawn puri chopped up what could be prawns, special king prawn dorma chopped up king prawns? No rice with large. Other dish special chicken'prawn' meat doesn't say it's in a sauce where is the ginger. All in all looks nothing as advertised.Discrace called them they said the chef chops his king prawns Why? Food not as described and that is being kind lost £34.00 then got a Chinese.

I haven't used this takeaway for a few years and it didn't disappoint. I ordered on just eat and it was delivered to Fairfield within 30 minutes and was very tasty. My only complaint was no yoghurt or mint sauce with my starter otherwise I will definately order again.thankyou x

The Shalimar has been in Billingham for years, the food is consistently good, it's not outstanding, but it is always tasty and never changes. We use it most of the time and every now and again we order from somewhere else but always return.Not Indian, but the chips are superb....

Best Indian takeaway in Teesside

This has been our go-to takeaway for years. Had an Indian from here last night, delivered bang on time. Excellent portion size, flavour, and price. Very friendly staff that have always put things right when needed.

I've always used this Indian takeaway,but have recently been going to another one. The staff are really polite, delivery is always on time, if not earlier on occasions pick up times are always spot on and your never waiting, great value for money and decent sized portions with plenty to choose from, however it's a bit hit and miss with the quality of the food. Sometimes it's over spiced and bland. I would still however recommend this takeaway.

Have always ordered from here for at least the past 5 years. Normally lovely. Past few have been disgusting. One today ordered chicken korma, chips and peshwari naan. Came and the naan was missing rang and they brought it in ten minutes. Chicken was brick hard, chips practically raw and the naan smelt of cigarette smoke (?). Really gone down the nick. Stomach is aching and only finished it 20 minutes ago...

Always lovely food. Always on time. Only one occasion was the food below standard and been ordering from here for the last three years. Delivery driver is always very nice.

Although I live in Billingham I have not used Shalimar for ages! Tonight I just fancied a cheeky little Indian as I was in my own looking after my granddaughter. Onion Bahji followed by Shalimar special & a plane naan. Very nice food, good portions and well cooked. The chicken tikka pieces were lovely ,very tender. I won’t leave it so long next time.

We have lived in Billingham for nearly 30 years and have always used the Shalimar when our curry tastebuds need satisfying. In all of that time we have found the Shalimar to be of really good quality at reasonable prices. The staff are only too willing to "tweak" the dishes if you want them cooking slightly differently. Very consistent quality. Recommended.

Best indian takeaway in Billingham. Better to collect as sometimes food is nearly cold when delivered.

Used this takeaway for many years, great variety of good Indian dishes, and most of them at least very good, possibly not as good as it was fifteen years ago but still better than most.

i cant fault this place. best takeaway curry in town. always spot on, highly recommend. we would not use anywhere else.

Iv grown up eating indians from here, my parents used shally and i have continued right through to 32 years of age, iv tried many other places over the years for comparison and nowhere comes close, the quality of Shalimars food is consistently incredible, im particular there jalfrezi with breast meat and the keema garlic naans, makes my mouth water just typing it! Keep it up guys 👌🏽

Usually this place is very good, which is why tonight was such a big let down. Curry was bland, onion raita far too sweet and the samosas were very dry. Disappointing.

Been using Shalimar for years but never reviewed it but time I did. Very nice food. Good kick with the spicy stuff which some people let themselves down on. Don't normally do chips with an Indian or Chinese but you have to here as proper old school chips.

As always the food is between 15 minutes early or bang on time. Working my way round the menu as all dishes are delicious and have to be tried.

Food was nice, however the onion barjis were spicier than I would expect. Also I was disappointed that my delivery missed off the rice! I ended up microwaving some from Uncle Ben! Will order again and give them one more chance.

Lovely dish the naan was a little dry but all over a very good meal will definitely order again!!

He probado un montón de diferentes casas de curry en la zona y este es de lejos el mejor. Siempre me dan una pechuga de pollo con carne al vindaloo que es 50p, pero vale la pena! El pollo es que ha sido arrastrado desde un pollo entero y siempre fresca y una cantidad generosa. El al vindaloo es muy sabroso y también hacer papas fritas caseras que son impresionantes! Recomiendo sin duda! ! . . Ah, y el chico de la entrega es muy bonito

Order from here a few times, chips are usually gorgeous but these were very hard and undercooked than usual. Ordered sweet pilau rice but normal rice was delivered which was very dry. Delivery driver was very rude on the phone and when he delivered the food because my address took him to a different town? Not sure how if he had my postcode, so he just walked off muttering after handing the food over and yet again complaining about being sent to another town. Definitely won't be ordering again from here, restaurants do make mistakes I understand that but as for the driver was no need at all.

Read the reviews and decided to order. The delivery guy was very positive, food arrived in an hour and 20 minutes, however, I'm shocked by the quality. The chicken tikka masala was what I can only describe as covered in cheap tomato sauce, nothing like the authentic masala sauce. Lowest quality ingredients I've ever tasted in indian, first and last time ordering from here. I'm really sorry for the money I've spent, I'm a big fan of chicken tikka masala, but this was just a disaster.

There used to be very little to choose between the Indian takeaways in Billingham, and while the others are still very nice, Shalimar has recently excelled and is now my Indian of choice. Outstanding.

I had family from the lakes looking forward to visiting because they last had a shalimar 5years ago and though it was the best then and it still is now. Very friendly fast and the best food there is always nice and very consistent i would have it every day if it wasn't for my waist line. PERFECT

Very watery considering we got a biryani. Doubtful it was thoroughly cooked to be honest. Felt like was a frozen meal that had been heated up poorly. Won't be entertaining them again.

Awful bland food everything tasted cheap ive had better microwave meals. Korma Sauce tasted like it came from a very cheap jar. The mixed Keebab was different shaped burnt keema meat nothing mixed about it! Waste of money if your looking for a nice Indian meal this is not the place.

Always amazing curry nowhere else in Billingham compared. Highly recommend the dansak best thing on the menu and the garlic pilau rice

Strange because its usual nice here? All family are poorly today and won't be eaten here again! Few family members ordered from here the other week said same thing

Been there for decades, lovely food at a great price. Try it for your self its not going anywhere. probably the oldest in Billingham.

Food was awful chicken is shredded and not like it is at a typical Indian, rice was plastic like and overall quality was not as expected. To add to that there was a 30 minute additional wait added to the delivery time, so by the time it came we had been waiting 90 minutes. When the driver got here he thought the food was for next door, overall would not use again.
