Really really excellent restaurant. From nice welcome as soon as we stepped through the front door, the service all the way through the meal to the excellent food and drink. Can’t fault it!

Good food, nice surroundings but the drinks prices seemed a bit expensive - £6.10 for a pint of Peroni. No wonder there were no drinks menus on the table!

Lovely friendly staff and nice cosy dining area, the food was fantastic honestly I had the best seafood pasta plate ever!, the stone baked pizza was super delicious!

First time visiting, we’d heard great things and the reviews are good, however we were left underwhelmed and disappointed I’m afraid. Service was ok, we ordered a drink that never arrived & had to ask for the bill multiple times before just going to the bar to pay. The food was the biggest let down. We ordered three starters, the burrata special was nice. However, the garlic bread was standard nothing special, underwhelming & lacked garlic. The Patate Ripiene sounded lovely on the menu, Italian potato skins. I was just bemused by what came out, half a jacket potato with nothing inside and covered in tomato sauce with a bit of bacon. Would not recommend. The Tagliatelle Salmon, firstly it had clearly sat under the heat lamp for a while so it was dry on top. It lacked flavour, sauce and the salmon was just mushed in. Would not recommend. The lasagne was basic, clearly had plain tomato passata just poured over it with no seasoning just an overwhelming tomato taste. Incredibly disappointed. The Gamberoni Piri Piri we initially ordered as a starter to have as a main for one of our party who doesn’t have a big appetite, but the owner said to have the large when ordering, so she said yes. Came to £24.95 which was overpriced for what arrived, the sauce was ok, nothing special and just a piece of bread on the side. We came away disappointed & we felt for what it was, it was overpriced. Unfortunately I won’t return which is shame living in the village. Maybe it was just an off day, but it wasn’t overly busy and when you pay their prices I just expect more. The atmosphere and restaurant itself was lovely inside and I can’t fault that.

We had a fantastic night celebrating my Mums 94th birthday. All the staff were great fun, attentive and courteous and were happy to join in the fun with us by wearing masks with Mums face on. All the food was delicious and served together which was very impressive seeing as we were a party of 21. I would highly recommend Sorrento's and will definitely be returning. Thanks so much to the whole team. Xx

Sorrento in Formby is an upscale Italian restaurant. We were looking to nibble, and shared a plate of custom-cooked seafood with penne pasta. It was very good! 👍

Great meal love night. Going back here to the place we had our first meal together and last night was as husband and wife.

We visited for the first time to celebrate my Birthday on Saturday evening and loved every moment. The restaurant is lovely and there is such a nice atmosphere. The staff are attentive and the food is amazing. We will be back in the near future.

Pretty awful. Food was average..no oils offered with pizza. Ordered marinara pizza. Two anchovies. Salmon came with what I can only describe as a stale poppadom. Lazy chefs.

We were in Formby for the first time but intend to come back and Sorrento will be our family favourite. The food is beautifully presented, authentic and tasty. Service was discreet and attentive with great emphasis on fulfilling dietary requirements( gluten free options). Thank you for a great experience xxx

Highly recommend Sorrento! I went for the first time last year and have been on many more occasions since. The food is always amazing and it’s by far the best Italian in Liverpool!! The staff are excellent and always go above and beyond to make us feel welcome :)

Sorrento always get it right! Wether it’s lunch, dinner or popping in for a glass of wine. This is our go to restaurant for a special occasion or a midweek family dinner. They are always on point with the service and make our little girl so special when she is there. Food is always fresh with an amazing range of Italian classics, the specials board always has something to tempt you. A big thank you to Ana, chicho, Luciano!

We have had another fabulous visit to Sorrento this weekend. The food and service was excellent, as always. We love the atmosphere and vibe of sorrento. The staff are brilliant, making you feel so welcome and looked after. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Google stated it was Open but the front gates were closed and little to no lights turned on when glancing through the windows. Attempted to call to check it was open in person but no staff answered the phone after 5 minutes of ringing. Information needs updating on Google if it is closed or staff need to create a more inviting atmosphere. Very disappointed.

We had a fabulous meal for my birthday. It was lovely to catch up with staff who we used to see regularly at Sorrento Orrell. It was a quiet part of the afternoon, it was great as we had time to chat to Marco who we haven't seen for since Orrell closed. I'm sure we will be back to Formby. Thanks for a great afternoon.

We visit Formby on Sunday 4th of Jun. We been greeted by friendly staff and seated outside ( we requested it). Food IS Amazing!!!!!!!!!! Staff couldn't be better. Dessert to die for!

Most amazing service and food!!! We love coming here, the staff are so friendly, the atmosphere is always great!! I noticed the last comment mentioned the toilets were upstairs but there are toilets downstairs with disabled access.

We booked the restaurant for the celebration of life after my mother's funeral on 27.03.23. Not only myself but all of our guests - not sure how many there were to be honest but about 50 - ran out of superlatives to describe the food, the hospitality, the amazing staff and everything else about this family run restaurant. They had not previously taken this type of booking and we were as suggested unsure off numbers but they closed the restaurant for us at what we considered to be an excellent price and I can't really imagine how anything could have been better. We will return, as will many guests who had not previously dined there again and again and again. Thank you to each and every one of the staff. Anne

Love Sorrento my family’s regular dining experience, great decor, Uber friendly staff, great lively atmosphere, great food (the specials are fine dining quality not fine dining prices) and the wine fantastic .. our favourite is the Carissa Sicilian white !! Authentic Italian restaurant with excellent service and good food but quite expensive!

We went on a Saturday evening. It was good to see a restaurant so busy in these times of economic problems, but in fact this made the place so noisy that our group of three struggled to hear each other. Added to this was completely unnecessary music making it a less than enjoyable experience. There was also the impression of having too many tables crammed into the space. I'm sure the waiters were trying to make it atmospheric, but repeated " bellissima" and other comments about beautiful ladies were unwelcome. Would a group of men be told they were good looking? I doubt it. Having said that, service was attentive, and quick enough, given the numbers of diners. The food was good and the prices reasonable to a bit pricey: just under £100 for two starters, three main courses, 4 glasses of wine and a tonic. I would definitely recommend the restaurant but not on a Saturday evening if you want to have a quiet conversation with your friends. For a lively event, why not?!

Came here for my 60th birthday on Christmas Eve. I had booked it 6 weeks earlier. Good job. It's always busy. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. All the time. We try and come here often even just for a pizza/ pasta. We are never disappointed. Thanks again Sorrento.

First visit today and I can't recommend highly enough. The staff were so welcoming and family friendly. Absolutely gorgeous to the children and courteous and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was fast, fresh and delicious. We were bedraggled from swimming and the rain but we were treated like important guests. Can't wait to return. What can I say??? This is a real gem of a family run Italian restaurant in Formby, the food is to die for and the staff are incredible. If you can't get to Italy you really do have the real deal on your doorstep.

Been coming here for many years never had one bad meal! The food is excellent and further more the service and staff are superb and very welcoming. Great variety of food on the menu for all.

Stick to the pizza. Only dish worth eating. We had a spaghetti with Ragu that had a weird taste, it was obviously rotten and we got sick 🤢 Stick to the pizza. It's decent++

Had a family birthday there for 16 people, food was excellent, staff/service couldn't be faulted, very friendly....they even took time to show the grandchildren how the pizzas were made, let them get hands on with the preparation.

We enjoyed a belated anniversary meal here. We were really not disappointed. We arrived and were seen and sat at a table straight away. There are alot of tables, but without it feeling closed in. Lots going on with plenty of staff taking care of everyone. Lots of extended family's in, which was really nice to see. We enjoyed a starter each; gambas peri peri, chicken and mushroom pancake in tomato sauce. Then a main of; diavola, calzone. Followed with coffees. Drinks were brought whenever we needed and the food came in perfect intervals to allow a relaxed feeling. Loved it. Thank you Sorrento.

Treated to a Birthday Lunch by my friend. We had alot of catching up to do and, the Staff, as always, were fantastic - they gave us lots of time to chat before ordering. The food, as usual, was excellent and when we didn't order puds (too full), two of the waiters came over, singing Happy Birthday, with an icecream! It made my day, especially as my day felt 'flat' due to the Queen passing away.

Great food as per usual have been many times with my in laws when we have a chance for us all to get together in one place.

Lovely restaurant, food is amazing and the staff are fabulous. Went as a family of 20 for mums birthday and nothing was to much !! Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be visiting again. Young lady who served us could not do enough. 10/10 for everything !

Lovely food! Probably the best Italian i have had in a while. I live in Shropshire and i would happily travel to this restaurant to eat again! The produce was top quality! The service lacked a little finesse as they were rushing around to everyone but other than that OUTSTANDING.

Sat outside early evening enjoyed the Aperol Spritzers. Tomato bread and prawn cocktail starter, very nice. A great experience.

By far my favourite Italian restaurant. I drive from Nottingham to Formby just to experience the excellent food and incredible staff. My party adored the seafood and for dessert Torte da la Nonna is amazing

Oh my god ! Food is absolutely delicious, can’t remember when i had such a nice Italian meal in restaurant in UK. People working here are also amazing, vey polite and friendly. I can definitely recommend. It’s a shame I don’t have such a great place where i live. Thank you ❤️

Great food, great staff, great place

Wowza. A real treat to find a slice of Italy in this provincial area. Yumsy pizza and pasta al dente. Dollops of ice-cream and crispy cannoli curls, can't go wrong with that. Extremely authentic with a man watering the plants outside. Just one thing that let the premises down was the lack of napkins provided, we had to lick fingers clean which isn't what you want to be doing after a day out in the north.

Called at Sorrento for a quick bite to eat after a day at the beach. Staff very friendly and helpful, food great and reasonable price. Would recommend 👍🏼
