Sorrentinos in Northampton

Thank you so much to Carlo and his wonderful team for looking after us so well yesterday evening and catering for the Dunstone Bennett Complementary Health Centre's 15th Anniversary. As always the food was delicious and plentiful! I thoroughly recommend Sorrentino's!

We got lost finding out table but the rest was great. Attentive service. Delicious pastas and pizza, a nice, slightly chewy homemade dough for the pizzas. Hot Chocolate pudding was nice to, as was the sorbet.

I love a good Italian restaurant but this one isn’t! It’s a brilliant one!!! Amazing Italian food and a great atmosphere awaits guests at this amazing Italian restaurant ticked away upstairs in a corner of central Northampton. All I would say is it would be nice to have some specials on the menu. That said it’s got what you would expect. I had the aubergine bake and it was nice (a bit hot maybe a warning would have been good) but tasty. I had the steak tagliatelle last time and I always try to pop into this place when I’m in Northampton.

Second flour good Italian restaurants! Delicious and big plates. Food is as if Your Italian Grandma made it for You with love!!

Friendly service from the chefs and waiters, food tasted fresh and delicious. It's a small venue and sound carries across, so don't recommend if you don't do well in noisy spaces, but do recommend if you like delicious food :)

Eight of us visited on a Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. Service was good & the menu was varied. The cod & pizzas were vg, & everyone enjoyed their meals. We had quite a bit to drink, but £50/head was quite pricy. We had a table upstairs where there’s no room for a round table which might have mitigated the poor acoustics which impacted enjoyment a little. Would probably recommend & revisit.

Lovely meal Staff very good Ordered 2 bottles of wine only one arrived when asked for the 2nd one we were told they had run out .Fortunately we changed wine for the same price of the first bottle. One of our party was Gluten free the menu was very confusing regarding this and only one dessert which was not available. Perhaps a separate menu on request for Gluten free would be more accommodating

I just had my wedding dinner two days ago at Sorrentino and I couldn't be happier with choosing this place to my (and my husband) dinner venue! Since the first contact a couple months ago until the very end Carlo and the whole team were amazing! The place itself is beautiful and perfect for a small gathering. We had 28 people overall and everyone were comfortable and had a great time. The food was terrific and all our guests enjoyed it. We could decorate the area as we liked it and Morgan (the front door person) was brilliant helping us on the day and setting the tables the way we discussed previously. I highly recommend Sorrentino for your special day or just for a nice well done meal.

Beautiful little Italian restaurant, great service, the staff were very welcoming and attentive. One of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had, such reasonable prices for the huge portion size and amazing quality. Will definitely be back to try more.

We had a wonderful meal here last night, went with some friends for a girly catch up. The food and service were amazing. Would definitely recommend!

First the positive. The food as normal was wonderful, all served at the same time, we were a party of ten, and the food was hot. Unfortunately, it didn’t start well by having to wait for tables to be moved to seat us all together, this being explained as the tables they were going to sit us at people were still occupying. Ok no problem but if they knew we were due to arrive why hadnt they sorted this problem out before we arrived? We were eating our starter when a waitress came up and presented me with the bill! I explained that it obviously wasn’t our bill as we had only just had our starters delivered. No more than five minutes later whilst it was plainly obvious we were still eating another waitress came and asked if she could clear the plates! Our main meal was served and was wonderful as usual. My husband asked for the bill and was very surprised to see drinks on it that my daughter and l had paid separately for earlier still on the bill. When he questioned the overcharge he was made to feel as if it was an inconvenience he had pointed this out. My daughter who went with her dad to sort the bill out said she couldn’t believe the way her dad was spoken to. This restaurant is our family favourite go to place but on this occasion we were very disappointed.

The food is delicious, but being served the house Prosecco and it being Canti (at something nuts like £24) that you can buy from the shop for about £7 was shocking.

Attended for my birthday with a couple of friends. Used to come here with parents when was lot younger, and apart from looking different, that is all that changed, still the most amazing service, incredibly flavoursome food. Will be back soon!

Ten of my friends joined me, in enjoying delicious food and wonderful service, at Sorrentino’s last night. We didn’t have to pay a deposit, just confirm the booking on the day. Hadn’t been here for a long time, but, we will definitely return again soon. A really enjoyable evening.

Excellent Italian cuisine excellent service welcoming and beautiful location with large room on the first floor to absolutely try

Food was excellent, which is the reason for the high veview rating, only let down by waiting staff, who seemed to avoid attending the table at all costs. I waited 20 mins before being offered a drink when I arrived and most of our group of 7 sat without a drink for their meal. Staff almost ran from the table after only serving one person. We had to constantly call staff over, who seemed huddled, hiding out of site around the corner. Why are they scared of the tables? We would have spent double, had they served us, and I am sorry to say they lost the generous tip I would have given.

Shared a pre cinema lunch We had garlic bread, a double expresso, herbal tea, Mediterranean pizza, linguini carbonara and I had a lemon cello ( an anti digestivo) to finish Excellent service 😀

My wife and I just enjoyed an excellent meal and drinks at Sorrentino. We had just come out of a matinee show and were looking for someplace to have an early dinner. We found Sorrentino and we’re very glad we did. We chose meals off the Earlybird Menu, thinking that was probably a compromise from choosing off the main menu, but it wasn’t at all. We had Bruschetta and Mushrooms baked in Tomato and Cheese for starters. We then both had the Linguine Cremosa, a seafood medley (white fish, mussels, cozze and prawns) in a delicious and light cream sauce. It was Italian food Heaven. I’ve worked and traveled all over central and southern Italy. This was among the very best and most authentic Italian meals I’ve had. We chose a bottle of house Merlot and were surprised at how lovely it was. Amazingly nice for any wine, much less a house wine. The portions were all more than generous, so we split the Tiramisu for dessert. It was the perfect ending to an excellent meal. From the moment we stepped in to Sorrentino we were made to feel welcome. The servers were all efficient, attentive and very pleasant. This was simply an excellent dining experience. How have we never found this place before? It is a bit hidden behind a small front facade, but the upstairs restaurant is spacious, comfortable and bright. I’m very glad we did find Sorrentino…we’ll be back soon.

We had a very pleasant experience at Sorrentinos last night. The service was friendly and prompt in spite of how busy the restaurant was. We ordered fillet steak with porcini and peppercorn sauce. It was all really delicious and generous. Not surprised Sorrentinos has continued to thrive through adverse circumstances and we hope to visit again soon.

Great to finally find a decent restaurant in Northampton, the food is always excellent, steak in Gorgonzola sauce, beautiful, the service is great, the bill is quite high but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for, if you want a cracking meal in a lovely restaurant this is the place to go, if you want to split hairs, there is no car park so you probably end up paying for that somewhere, but in my opinion, still worth it.

Friendly staff, great food, but very dated please throw away the dead grasses in the vase on the tables and replace bulbs in the light fittings.

Bruschietta and lasagne were real good. Service was great. Staff very friendly.

Had a lovely meal with the wife & friends, we were all very full afterwards, staff were excellent and always available for help and advice. My only complaint from our meal was NO custard option for bread and butter pudding desert 😔

Can’t believe we’ve lived here for years and never knew this place was here. Had some absolutely incredible food tonight, best Italian food we’ve ever had. Everything was tasty there was nothing to complain about. Staff were really attentive and friendly. Loved the atmosphere, very warm, cosy and intimate. Will definitely be coming here again!!

Food was excellent. I had the seafood in a broth which was delicious. Wished I had a tupperware container to take some of the broth home. Very attentive and helpful waiting staff. Lovely evening.

Visiting Northampton after 20 years away I was disappointed in the decline of the town with many familiar shops and restaurants now sadly lost. However, I was reassured to see Sorrentinos still going strong. I ate in here with my partner and can honestly say, it has to be the best place in town by far. The quality of the food is great and the service by the staff is welcoming and friendly. Prices are reasonable given the high level of the food. All in all we spent £64 on 2 beers, 2 starters and 2 pizza which I think is remarkable value.

Came for dinner, and didn’t disappoint. We had a sharing platter for 2, and tomato bruschetta to start. It was super fresh tasting, and plenty big enough! We would’ve been happy enough with the starters alone. My steak was cooked perfectly (I went for medium rare), and my partners lasagne was rich and full of flavor. We attempted dessert, but only left some as we couldn’t physically eat anymore!!! There is no parking, but St Mary’s car park is close by (2 min walk), so not too bad. We ended the night at gravity and crazy golf. Service was good, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We weren’t pestered to hurry up and finish our drinks once we had paid, which made us enjoy it more as we got to chat and relax with the remainder of our wine. We will be back!

Lovely place with incredibly fast service and tasty food. I was surprised how friendly and fast the staff are. The young lad serving us went above and beyond to make sure we had a good evening, definitely worth visiting!!

Probably the best Italian restaurant in Northampton if not easy Midlands. Food was amazing with a cosy atmosphere.

This is my second trip based on a previous excellent experience. We saw no less than 4 waitresses in the evening. Our drinks stayed topped up, the service was FIRST CLASS and the food is always consistent and excellent. I smell a third trip in my future.

Had a lovely evening out with the family and chose Cannelloni Versuvio as my main dish, which I’d highly recommend. Lovely atmosphere and very pleasant staff.

Food was fantastic, service spot on an all round very enjoyable experience! We had lasagne, spaghetti bolognese and chicken and spinach pasta and each was seasoned to perfection! We cannot wait to go again!!

The food was lovely, and prices I feel are a little bit steep but fair enough. Shame we were put on a tiny table next to a large group, kept having our table walked into, and couldn't hear ourselves have a conversation.

Really delicious food. We went here because it was convenient for the cinema, but will definitely go again. All the dishes were beautifully prepared, plentiful, and very tasty. Highly recommend.

Good selection the pasta is really tasty

I have been coming to Sorrentinos for occasions over the last 25 years, the best Italian food you can get in Northampton with a great team of staff who are extremely accommodating and provide sound recommendations. I personally reccomend the Itallian Experience menu if you are dining with a large group as it allows you to eat in the traditional Italian way with friends and also adds an element of fun to your meal, especially if you let the chef choose your meals for you.

This was one of my favourites but hadn't visited for a while but was pleased to be back.

This is an excellent venue for the family celebration today. It caters for all ages. The food was very good and worth the visit. Thank you for the delicious meal. The staff are friendly and very efficient when dealing with several age groups and getting all the meals to the table. No one had to wait very long.

Strange service, it was like talking via satellite. Then when I paid, 2 people were staring at the card machine! Food was nice, prefer something with a little green on the plate. Very loud on a Friday night.

I came here with my friend for dinner and after living in Northampton for all my life, and hearing rave reviews, I feel ashamed as to never have tried this restaurant before. It wasn’t overly busy, when we turned up which wasn’t an issue because everything ran smoothly. The decor of the restaurant is rustic, and you definitely get the feel of Italy. I’ve got to be honest, it’s not the cheapest, but as it’s an independent business, it’s too be expected but it’s worth it. We ordered our food with a friendly waiter. There wasn’t an abnormally long weight between the starters and main courses, which was perfect. As I come from an Italian background from my Mum side, I’m always a bit apprehensive when eating out at Italian restaurants BUT the food really was superb, it tasted like my grandads cooking. Overall, I would highly recommend coming here if you want authentic Italian food with attentive service.

Food ok. Restaurant tatty. Waitress laughed when I asked if I could have a soft egg on my £15 pizza (pizza ovens are apparently very hot-but ah, they discovered you could take it out and break an egg on it!). If I had paid about half to 2/3 of the price max they would have had a better review. The most massively overpriced meal I have had for a very long time. £200 (not including tip . 5 people, 2 courses, 2 beers, bottle of house wine and 2 desserts. I’m not tight but that’s pretty extortionate! I would walk past and find a pizza express!

I have been visiting Sorentino's for many years, A warm friendly welcoming atmosphere and great food. We were a table of 6 and started with the Antipasto Sorrentino a mixed starter Prosciutto, salami, mozzarella, tomato, melon, avocado and olives with dressing, a very generous serving with wonderful black and green olives. For the main I had Lasagne All’Americana, a beef Lasagne, with a spicy twist, again generous portions with a rich sauce. My sons had the Seafood Don Giovanni, always a favourite with them and Penne Con Pollo A La Sorrentino, and my freind had the Chicken breasts wrapped in prosciutto with a cream sauce. Again all very generous portions. Great service, tasty food, wonderful evening. We will be back.

We have dined at this restaurant numerous times over the years, so thought it was about time I left a review. We pre-booked a table as it was for the Saturday (the week before Christmas), so expected it to be busy. It was. The restaurant is situated over two floors and we always dine on the top floor, as for us it's the best atmosphere and setting. We were greeted by the owner and chef, who has always treated us the same, always friendly and welcoming and treats you special. If he has time he will always come to the table for a chat. He showed us upstairs and we were greeted again by friendly smiling staff who gave us a choice of two tables. We ordered drinks and time was taken to order food. For starter we shared a ciabatta garlic bread, which comes as 6 slices. Perfect for a starter for two. For mains I ordered the lasagne gorgonzola, which is a firm favourite of mine. It's one of the only restaurants where the lasagne comes perfectly cooked on a plate, instead of as a hot pot. My wife ordered the penne con gorgonzola fungi e arucola. Again a firm favourite and also was perfectly cooked. For desserts I ordered a chocolate pudding with cream and my wife had a lemon cheesecake. Both were delicious. The bill came to just over £73 for a shared starter, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 glasses of wine. Considering the excellent atmosphere, nice friendly staff, excellent quality food it's really good value. This is one of the rare, family owned restaurants that has consistently served excellent food with superb service over many years. I really hope it continues to do so. It really is a hidden gem.

As stated on another review, dont be put off by the takeaway next door. This is a lovely small restaurant for an intimate dinner with family or SO. Food is very reasonably priced, especially since, as far as i know, its traditional homemade Italian food. I ordered the bolognese which was very big portion, waiter did warn me not to order more since there would be alot of food. appreciate the honesty to avoid food waste. friendly service, nice atmoshphere.

We booked a table for a Saturday evening at 8pm a month before. On arrival at the restaurant we found they were over booked waited 20 minutes but then were told the previous customers had ordered more wine. We left and walked over to another Italian restaurant Andrea's and had a lovely meal and also more reasonably priced.

What a wonderful evening! We were a table of 4 celebrating our daughter’s 18th birthday. We were first- timers at Sorrentinos and will definitely be back. For us it was the perfect Italian restaurant with so much more than pasta and pizza. The menu has something for everyone, from a quick pre theatre or early bird meal to a special occasion. The seafood Sorrentino was delicious! The service was efficient and professional and there was a nice buzz in the restaurant. Thoroughly recommended.

As someone with a big appetite, I rarely find a restaurant that can satisfy my hunger fully; Sorrentino's did just that. And on top of having a delicious, filling meal, we received excellent service throughout. I don't know why I left it so long to visit here, but I'll be a regular now!

So, it’s with regret to rate this restaurant so low. Myself and wife visited Saturday night, not overly busy and plenty of staff. Ordered two mains and one starter to come with mains. Took a little while to come out but that didn’t matter as...

This is our ‘go to’ restaurant for family celebrations and Friday rugby night matches. Visited on Friday and as ever lovely welcome, great food and exceptional service.

First visit. My wife and I went for a late lunch and were alone (as customers) in the restaurant - the service was impeccable and the food was lovely. Definitely will be going back again.
