Sorella Sorella in Gateshead

We had Sunday lunch here the other day. The featherblade of beef was cooked perfectly and just fell apart. The food was delicious. The staff are very helpful and on hand. We finished the meal off with a coffee and a pineapple and mango pavlova. Definitely recommend this place.

Our family of 6 dined here for lunch on Saturday. The restaurant was very busy (a good sign!). We were seated straight away. Service was friendly and efficient. We all enjoyed our meals. The 3 course set menu is great value at £20. Looking forward to our next visit!

Lovely food, staff were excellent!

Best Sunday dinner I've had in a long time. It tasted like it was cooked for me, when often sunday dinners can go a bit hard and dry when they are mass produced. It's been a few years since I was at Sorella Sorella but I definitely won't be leaving it so long next time. Thank you for the great service!

Best local restaurant! Food and service is alway amazing and the cocktails are to die for. I’ve never been anywhere and had a better Sunday roast and the staff can’t do enough for you! A firm fav!!

Booked for a Mother’s Day treat me and the mother in law ordered what was described as porchetta . What was given to us was more like boiled belly pork not nice at all . Sorry but will not be rushing back

Lovely family run Italian restaurant. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in quirky styled surroundings. The food is beautiful and prepared freshly using good ingredients. There are toilets on site and some limited outdoor seating. There is also some on site parking to the rear of the building.

Went for Sunday lunch today. Fabulous food and friendly staff. Sophie was a star! An all round great experience and will appeal to all people.

Party of 8 for a birthday, food lovely huge portion sizes and quite reasonably priced.The staff just couldn't do enough for us constantly asking if we required more drinks and if we needed anything else, they were lovely with my grandson. First time we have been and would definitely be back. Couldn't fault anything.And a big shout out to your staff 👏

We went to Sorella Sorella last night for my 50th birthday. We ordered 5 meals and 4 starters. The lasagne was awful, inedible. The meat was dry and clumpy and had a very strong taste of rosemary. The sauce on the arabiatta was thick and stodgy and the nduja calzone came on a plate on its own with no salad or anything it looked so basic. Not what I expect from Sorella Sorella. The guy that was serving us was fantastic and dealt with it so well and we got 3 free deserts however I will not be eating there again. We usually go to Oli and joes and went there for something a bit extra but I would have had a nicer meal at Oli and Joes for a lot less money. Really disappointed.

Friendly service and lovely authentic Italian food

Very nice place to visit and the food was lovely.

The quality of the food, the flavours and the portion size make Sorella Sorella a place I return to often. More vegetarian options would be most welcome! Service is usually good but can be a bit slow, particularly when trying to get the bill at the end of the meal but the plus side of that is that you're not rushed out. We tend to eat early (6.30pm) and the restaurant is really popular so it can be on the noisy side but the food is worth it! I'm already looking forward to our next visit.

We’re not local so didn’t know whether this place was any good. My wife and I were extremely impressed. The staff were very polite and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was varied in choice and was very tasty. Portions are generous and great value for money. Many thanks.

Absolutely delicious 😋 very big portions we couldn't even finish and had to take them home 🙂🙂 sharing board and potato skins great but the mains we even better then expected. We will be back to try different dishes. I can highly recommend this place. Great little gem ☺️

Lovely staff, great food and atmosphere

Collected takeout tonight from sorella sorella. It was superb. Hot fresh pizza and chips. My family loved it too. The diavola pizza was unreal! Also, very friendly service at the bar when collecting.

Great food with great helpful service

The quality of food and service here is excellent with a great gluten-free menu so our daughter can enjoy a great meal out as well. However, in recent years it has gone down in my estimation as the number of dishes on the menu with meat in has reduced and the meat quantities in the dishes that have meat has also reduced.

Wow what a gem of place this is ..sunday dinners were very tasty ,generous portions sizes ,staff very friendly...defo would like to return through the week ....defo recommend...you won't be disappointed ....the owner should be proud

Absolutely fabulous meal at Sorella Sorella so felt I had to write a review! The staff were all so attentive, regularly checking if we had drinks or needed anything. The food was superb, freshly cooked, piping hot and very good portion sizes. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, lovely decor and very warm and welcoming. Although we didn’t have Sunday lunch or dessert on this occasion as we were all so full (!) we will definitely return to try these.

TL:DR A must try, you won't be disappointed. A busy restaurant with a good atmosphere. Never had a bad meal or service. Highly recommend booking, especially on weekends.

We have visited four times and each time had a really fantastic meal. Lovely wine and service from young adults who are polite, professional and really well trained. The atmosphere is lovely and especially nice for my dad who is hard of hearing and can still pick up the conversation as it’s not too noisy. Highly recommended

Great Sunday lunch at this consistently good local restaurant. The restaurant was busy, they 350 covers on a Sunday yet the service was superb. Every member of the team was friendly and professional. Italian menu runs along the Sunday roasts. Generous portions of tasty food, loads of veg, nice roast and lashings of gravy or maybe you prefer a rib sticking, outstanding lamb ragu. We loved both ❤️

A nice Italian. Large portion sizes. Pizzas were all pretty good. Perhaps a little too much toppings on some of them. My pizza had prawns and chicken with garlic. But there was far too much garlic on it for my preference. Everyone else really enjoyed their food. Bonus for me was the availability of some craft beer - Anarchy Brew Co.

I had beef blade said served with jus but the whole meal was covered in a thick nearly black gravy. It was so salty the meal was inedible

Went in for my Mam's 50th. Incredible food and great service

First time visiting here, really enjoyed my date night! My only down side was we weren’t checked on at all throughout our meal. Starter was amazing, although I wished they’d explained what was on it as we had to figure it out a bit and the menu wasn’t very descriptive. My partners main was lovely, I went for a safe carbonara but the bacon was a bit fatty and chewy. I had the spooky cheesecake for afters which was delicious. Overall would go back as I did enjoy most of the food ☺️

Not impressed at all! My wife's lasagne was not fully heated and my carbonara had ham/bacon which was hard as bricks, typical not nuked correctly food! Avoid

I hv had many experiences of Sunday Dinner, i can only remember one that equals this 10/10 If you can find fault with this place you need to stay home.

The beef blade Sunday lunch was tremendous. Definitely worth a visit.

Brilliant food and service atmosphere lacking background music apparently music was on in the ladies beer not cold enough nor the wine but the food especially the Tempura prawns magnificent

We hadn't been for a while but decided to pop in for lunch while passing. Food was lovely, good size portions, service good and nice decor. We will definitely be back soon.

Family of 4 went for tea and although the place was very busy, service was still pretty good. The food was enjoyed by all including desserts. I highly recommend the Cajun pizza, it was gorgeous! Pricing is around average.

We had a family birthday celebration on 25th September 2024 and 8 of us attended. We were welcomed into the restaurant by a friendly and courteous young man and shown to our table straightaway. Our table was located in the pleasant rear of the restaurant where the decor was in an italian style tastefully done. Our orders for drinks were taken quickly and delivered soon after. We then ordered 2 garlic bread with cheese pizzas and they were among the best we have ever had. My wife and I shared a pizza from the specials menu with a side order of vegetables and fries. It was served hot on warm plates and cooked perfectly. The standard and quality of our meal was matched for all of our party, some having pizza and others having pasta or rissotto. There were 3 are vegetarians in our party and there was plenty of choice. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout without being too obvious and they could not have been more helpful. We had a great time there and would recommend this restaurant for the atmosphere, quality of food, service and cost. It was not expensive working out at about £26 per head for 2 courses and drinks. Well done to all of the staff especially the young male waiter who greeted us on arrival and looked after us throughout the evening. Can't wait to go again.

Delicious food, restaurant was a bit loud but that was due to it being very busy.

This is truly one of the best Italian restaurants in the north east. The food is absolutely outstanding, the portions are very very generous and the value for money is exceptional. Not only that, the staff are extremely tentative and know what they are doing. Keep it up!

Very busy and noisey food was mostly good The risotto was not cooked The rice was still crunchy.service was good and attentive.if you are going we found it quietened down after 8.30.

The restaurant outside and inside looks good unfortunately it does not. Match the food. My wife had pasta with broccoli it was not seasoned at all. It was swimming in oil she left half of it. I asked the waiter if the pizzas are wood fired and he said yes. So I ordered the pork and beef toppings pizza. It was probably the worst pizza I had for a while. I am quite sure the pizza base tasted frozen and it was no where near wood fired pizza. Is it authentic Italian restaurant not Evan close debatable.

A Birthday gathering for a 70th celebration. A lovely Restaurant with excellent staff and prompt service. The Sunday lunch Menu is short but quite acceptable. Everyone at the table (10) was happy with their meal and I am happy to endorse the Beef lunch. That is the best Sunday lunch I have had for a long time! It was excellent!! Plenty of it, hot and well cooked! Well done to everyone there. DAC.

I have to say the place is wonderful food is amazing. But!!!. The service is very very poor waiting for staff to attend is letting the place down overall. I should never have to get out of my chair to ask for the bill? Very poor having to wait more than 20mins to be offered a drink?. And I was wanting a dessert but because I sat for more 20mins. I just asked for the bill?

Food was amazing, but unfortunately the service was terrible. Waited over 20 mins for the service staff to ask what we wanted for drinks. Food was out quite quick, then was going to order dessert but after the menus were given to us no one came to ask if we wanted to order, then we waited that long we had to go to the bar and ask for the bill, when the staff were clearly just talking to one another behind the bar. Overall disappointed, great food let down by waiter staff.

We had Sunday lunch here and it was lovely. We both had the feather blade of beef which came with a whole roasted carrot, mashed potato, roast potatoes, turnip, green beans, stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding. The place was busy but you had plenty of room. My wife had the Lilt cheesecake and I finished off with a coffee. The staff are lovely and helpful. I recommend this place for an excellent Sunday lunch.

Absolutely Outstanding! Went there for the first time last night (5th). Me and my partner have been talking about trying this place for a very long time, I only wish we’d have gone sooner. Bread and olives to start, a mountain pile of fresh bread with balsamic and oil and large, fresh olives, like Marco Pierre White said “You can always tell a restaurant’s quality from the quality of their olives” and they were incredible! Next up for mains, I had the tagliatelle Lamb Ragú and my partner had the linguine Marinara (a seafood pasta). We were both astounded by the size of the portions, portions fit for a king, we were both expecting much smaller portions as the price of lamb and seafood is very expensive. I tried my partners and wow it was amazing we’ve had seafood pasta in a lot of different places but they always lack flavour. This, on the other hand, definitely did not. Absolutely delicious! The lamb ragú, the star of the show, was absolutely Devine the flavours were perfect and the meat practically melted in your mouth. I’ve made many Ragú’s before, beef, duck Ect but I’ve never thought of lamb and wow what an interesting choice, I will definitely be trying to replicate that. A side of polenta fries was ordered and they were delicious and so different to anything I’ve ever had, tasty, crispy served with a rich dip. I was incredibly full but insisted I needed to try the tiramisu, it came and it was light and fluffy mascarpone cream, coffee-infused sponge, a hint of that alcohol, possibly amaretto and chocolate, perfect. I’m a chef so finding places like this is always an amazing experience, a place where food comes perfectly seasoned and cooked, the chefs are working hard here! We ordered cocktails while we were there, and every single one was perfect, some of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had more than a few, me and my partner both agreed the Raspberry Ripple cocktail was perhaps the best we had ever tried full stop and not only have we both tried a lot of them in many different places but she used to make them, working behind the bar in the restaurant we both worked in. The atmosphere was good plenty of people having a good time which is nice to see, the waiter/waitress staff were perfect, sometimes, in restaurants, the wait staff are all over you and over the top and it gets extremely overwhelming. Other times you can be sat there for ages waiting thinking if someone’s going to come and take your order or ask if drinks are needed. Not here, they were a perfect balance, not in your face over the top but were attentive enough to take orders in a reasonable time frame and ask if you needed a refill if your drink was nearing its end. Everyone was fantastic! If there’s one place to try for your next trip out let it be here! I wish I could give it a 10 out of 5. Thank you to all the staff and hard-working chefs for a fantastic evening we will 1000% be returning.

Pizza dough is really poor for a Italian Restaurant. Chicken Kiev was over cooked . Won't be returning sadly . Have to say the staff were really good and very efficient. It's a shame because its good location .

The restraint is decorated lovely but the atmosphere is loud. The food came very quickly, but sadly the pizzas were average. Then this morning when I went to eat my leftovers they had only packed 2 slices when I had 3 left over and they placed it in the same box as my partners meat pizza without asking. Very overpriced in my opinion for the quality received.

New easiest 5 stars I've ever given. Absolutely phenomenal food and portions, the service was amazing (and they didn't add a service charge onto the bill so the tip actually felt like a tip), the place is beautiful and I couldn't think of a single complaint even if I wanted too!

My pizza was fine but the basic arrabiata the Mrs had was tasteless.

Food was very good, we were in late afternoon so it was a quiet atmosphere.

First time here very impressed firstly loved the decor on entry ,service was very good friendly staff ,and the food was really good ,we shared the potato skins to start ,they were the best Ive had ,yes you might say potato skins but truly I wanted the recipe ,then the main course halloumi pizza for me delish such a generous portion obviously had to have a doggy bag ,hubby had chicken Kiev he said it was the best he’s had and we got more chips included once again the best weve had ate a bit too many so tasty ,all in all a lovely place with great food great service ,and outside seating ,when we eventually get some heat in the air

Disappointed in the scallops, they were mushroom scallops. Well worded deceiving menu. The rest of the food was, however, wonderful .

We are quite regular to sorella sorella but tonight we were disappointed. The pasta dishes have reduced in size. Some of our favourite dishes have been removed from the menu. And when we ordered dessert they hadn't actually put the order through. So after 25 mins of waiting, then finding out they hadn't even put the order through to the kitchen we cancelled it. But there was no apology from the staff. We struggled to order a second round of drinks so we ended up having to go to the bar ourselves. We've definitely had better service than we got tonight. May think twice before returning.
