Sorella Sorella in Gateshead

This is truly one of the best Italian restaurants in the north east. The food is absolutely outstanding, the portions are very very generous and the value for money is exceptional. Not only that, the staff are extremely tentative and know what they are doing. Keep it up!

We’ve been a few times and can’t fault it. Our favourite Italian restaurant. Staff are friendly, fast and food is insane! We highly recommend! Very reasonable for the quality you get! We recommend to everyone we know!

Very busy and noisey food was mostly good The risotto was not cooked The rice was still crunchy.service was good and attentive.if you are going we found it quietened down after 8.30.

The restaurant outside and inside looks good unfortunately it does not. Match the food. My wife had pasta with broccoli it was not seasoned at all. It was swimming in oil she left half of it. I asked the waiter if the pizzas are wood fired and he said yes. So I ordered the pork and beef toppings pizza. It was probably the worst pizza I had for a while. I am quite sure the pizza base tasted frozen and it was no where near wood fired pizza. Is it authentic Italian restaurant not Evan close debatable.

A Birthday gathering for a 70th celebration. A lovely Restaurant with excellent staff and prompt service. The Sunday lunch Menu is short but quite acceptable. Everyone at the table (10) was happy with their meal and I am happy to endorse the Beef lunch. That is the best Sunday lunch I have had for a long time! It was excellent!! Plenty of it, hot and well cooked! Well done to everyone there. DAC.

Lovely and clean, food was very tasty and nice glass of wine. Even charged my phone up for me. Staff clean and pleasant. Went for lunch with my daughter. 👌

Food was amazing, but unfortunately the service was terrible. Waited over 20 mins for the service staff to ask what we wanted for drinks. Food was out quite quick, then was going to order dessert but after the menus were given to us no one came to ask if we wanted to order, then we waited that long we had to go to the bar and ask for the bill, when the staff were clearly just talking to one another behind the bar. Overall disappointed, great food let down by waiter staff.

I have to say the place is wonderful food is amazing. But!!!. The service is very very poor waiting for staff to attend is letting the place down overall. I should never have to get out of my chair to ask for the bill? Very poor having to wait more than 20mins to be offered a drink?. And I was wanting a dessert but because I sat for more 20mins. I just asked for the bill?

We had Sunday lunch here and it was lovely. We both had the feather blade of beef which came with a whole roasted carrot, mashed potato, roast potatoes, turnip, green beans, stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding. The place was busy but you had plenty of room. My wife had the Lilt cheesecake and I finished off with a coffee. The staff are lovely and helpful. I recommend this place for an excellent Sunday lunch.

Came here with my nephew for Sunday dinner. I hadn’t been for a couple of years & had forgot how amazing these dinners are. Great service, food piping hot & lovely staff.

Absolutely Outstanding! Went there for the first time last night (5th). Me and my partner have been talking about trying this place for a very long time, I only wish we’d have gone sooner. Bread and olives to start, a mountain pile of fresh bread with balsamic and oil and large, fresh olives, like Marco Pierre White said “You can always tell a restaurant’s quality from the quality of their olives” and they were incredible! Next up for mains, I had the tagliatelle Lamb Ragú and my partner had the linguine Marinara (a seafood pasta). We were both astounded by the size of the portions, portions fit for a king, we were both expecting much smaller portions as the price of lamb and seafood is very expensive. I tried my partners and wow it was amazing we’ve had seafood pasta in a lot of different places but they always lack flavour. This, on the other hand, definitely did not. Absolutely delicious! The lamb ragú, the star of the show, was absolutely Devine the flavours were perfect and the meat practically melted in your mouth. I’ve made many Ragú’s before, beef, duck Ect but I’ve never thought of lamb and wow what an interesting choice, I will definitely be trying to replicate that. A side of polenta fries was ordered and they were delicious and so different to anything I’ve ever had, tasty, crispy served with a rich dip. I was incredibly full but insisted I needed to try the tiramisu, it came and it was light and fluffy mascarpone cream, coffee-infused sponge, a hint of that alcohol, possibly amaretto and chocolate, perfect. I’m a chef so finding places like this is always an amazing experience, a place where food comes perfectly seasoned and cooked, the chefs are working hard here! We ordered cocktails while we were there, and every single one was perfect, some of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had more than a few, me and my partner both agreed the Raspberry Ripple cocktail was perhaps the best we had ever tried full stop and not only have we both tried a lot of them in many different places but she used to make them, working behind the bar in the restaurant we both worked in. The atmosphere was good plenty of people having a good time which is nice to see, the waiter/waitress staff were perfect, sometimes, in restaurants, the wait staff are all over you and over the top and it gets extremely overwhelming. Other times you can be sat there for ages waiting thinking if someone’s going to come and take your order or ask if drinks are needed. Not here, they were a perfect balance, not in your face over the top but were attentive enough to take orders in a reasonable time frame and ask if you needed a refill if your drink was nearing its end. Everyone was fantastic! If there’s one place to try for your next trip out let it be here! I wish I could give it a 10 out of 5. Thank you to all the staff and hard-working chefs for a fantastic evening we will 1000% be returning.

Pizza dough is really poor for a Italian Restaurant. Chicken Kiev was over cooked . Won't be returning sadly . Have to say the staff were really good and very efficient. It's a shame because its good location .

The restraint is decorated lovely but the atmosphere is loud. The food came very quickly, but sadly the pizzas were average. Then this morning when I went to eat my leftovers they had only packed 2 slices when I had 3 left over and they placed it in the same box as my partners meat pizza without asking. Very overpriced in my opinion for the quality received.

New easiest 5 stars I've ever given. Absolutely phenomenal food and portions, the service was amazing (and they didn't add a service charge onto the bill so the tip actually felt like a tip), the place is beautiful and I couldn't think of a single complaint even if I wanted too!

My pizza was fine but the basic arrabiata the Mrs had was tasteless.

First time here very impressed firstly loved the decor on entry ,service was very good friendly staff ,and the food was really good ,we shared the potato skins to start ,they were the best Ive had ,yes you might say potato skins but truly I wanted the recipe ,then the main course halloumi pizza for me delish such a generous portion obviously had to have a doggy bag ,hubby had chicken Kiev he said it was the best he’s had and we got more chips included once again the best weve had ate a bit too many so tasty ,all in all a lovely place with great food great service ,and outside seating ,when we eventually get some heat in the air

Disappointed in the scallops, they were mushroom scallops. Well worded deceiving menu. The rest of the food was, however, wonderful .

We are quite regular to sorella sorella but tonight we were disappointed. The pasta dishes have reduced in size. Some of our favourite dishes have been removed from the menu. And when we ordered dessert they hadn't actually put the order through. So after 25 mins of waiting, then finding out they hadn't even put the order through to the kitchen we cancelled it. But there was no apology from the staff. We struggled to order a second round of drinks so we ended up having to go to the bar ourselves. We've definitely had better service than we got tonight. May think twice before returning.

First time here table booked by friends. Bit of a struggle parking as the place was rammed with diners. Nice place full of italiano memorabilia, great decor, old style fiat 500 images dotted about, black and white images and an old vespa scooter parked up inside. I went for the 2 course fixed price lunch menu - starter was really good, Italian flatbread with pesto, sundried tomatoes, mozzarella, garlic & rocket 🥰 however, the main was not so hot....literally as it was served luke warm which was a shame as I was looking forward to it : gnocchi with sundried tomatoes & olives in a tomato & basil sauce but it was extremely salty. If I hadnt been falling through myself with hunger I'd have sent it back but despite that I'd give the place another go if I was in the area.

Absolutely beautiful, Staff are lovely, beautifully decorated and reasonably priced.

I just can't fault this fantastic restaurant. Popped in for lunch with family including a boisterous 10yr old who absolutely loved the pasta. The 10yr old also took a shine to the moped in the lounge area and staff were so lovely and encouraging with them. We'll definitely be back!

Had a nice meal of chicken, potatoes and broccoli and lamb ragu. Both mains were good and the limosa was tasty as well. The desserts were my favourite, Eton Mess and amoretto, espresso and ice cream dish. Both were very good! The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant. A very full and happy place to eat!

Great food, lots of variaty. Great pizza, and solid pasta. Recommend the lasagna and the lovely white sauce pizza (name escapes me). Lasagna and chunky ships however will warm your heart and belly.

Food here is absolutely spot on the service even better the manager here mark who I presume is the manager or owner wants holding onto for as long as possible as he is the main man makes everyone feel more than welcome and looks after all the customers properly cannot stress that enough

They could have tried a bit harder. We found not much on the menu. For a wedding reception they could have tried a bit harder. They want to think their menu planning out to the better - only then will they really win.

Been to Sorella Sorella many times over the years since it opened and it always impresses. Today, being a Sunday, we decided we’d go for Sunday lunch as we weren’t entirely sure we wanted a “Sunday dinner” when we booked and new we could have pizza or pasta instead if we so wished. By the time we were heading there the Mrs and I both decided roast chicken dinner was order of the day. However…… when we went in and were presented with the weekly specials menu too, things changed. I read it first and said to the Mrs “I’m having the fish of the day” her draw dropped so much it hit the floor - I’M NOT A FISH FAN - 🤣 the menu was promptly snatched out of my hand with her thinking it was cod and chips! 🤣🤣🤣 it was cod and it did come with spicy fries but the cod was coated in a miso dressing and served with asian vegetables in the most amazing sauce with Japanese style rice crackers. Of course she then jumped on the band wagon! Also on the specials was a starter of beef strips in a spicy sate sauce which we opted to share. OMG! What an amazing plate of food that was! When the main course arrived we were not disappointed- it was sublime! I’m a very fussy eater and would say a fillet steak was, until today, my favourite meal ever, BUT! Wow this sate beef starter and cod main course were by far the best food I’ve ever had in a restaurant anywhere in the world! Sorry to the guy two tables away who ordered after us and was told we had the last of the fish! Well done team Sorella Sorella! You never fail to impress but this was AMAZING! See you soon!

Reserved a table for 4. Got there. The table was that small. I only had anuff room for one leg, so the outher was outside the table the hole meal, so I ended up not even sitting at the table right. Staff did come to the table to ask if we wanted drinks and deliver the food but didn't offer to move us to a bigger table. The food was unpleasant. Salty. The pasta was hard and not aldenti. The lobster dish was far to lemony and again salty. And the cabanara meat was just pices of fat so was not eaten. When we passed on our issues, the staff said they would speak to the kitchen....no apology or offers to have a refund or even a discount. £110 on food that was not enjoyed or even eaten.

We went as a family having come to the area to visit Beamish. The restaurant was almost full which is a good sign on a Wednesday night. Food, drink and service was all excellent and very reasonably priced. The portions were large. Top notch all round. Highly recommended!

One of our favourite restaurants. Service is always spot on and food is delicious. The spaghetti carbonara is particularly wonderful and I love their risotto.

The best Sunday Roast around????

We tried this restaurant for the first time on Wednesday and it was lovely. Nice busy atmosphere for a Wednesday night, which shows how popular it is. Food was delicious and portions are great size. Staff really friendly and accommodating. Free onsite parking although does get busy. Toilets nice and clean. Will definitely be back, 100% recommend!

Visited here for Sunday lunch after recommendations from family who had been on an evening. It was simply superb, I opted for the beef featherblade which was outstanding. Been a proper foodie and and go out most Sundays for lunch this is definitely one of the best. Service first class and food amazing. Family of five and everyone was well impressed Everything tasted so fresh and the gravy!!! Wow, massive well done to the chefs it’s not easy this trade nowadays but keep doing what your doing because it’s amazing. Certainly be back and will be recommending. I have been many times and as always it was lovely. Food great, staff very friendly.

Ordered a pizza which arrived drowned in pesto. I don't like pesto. Pesto was not included in the menu, had I known, I wouldnt have ordered it. If there had been a moderate amount of pesto, I could even have eaten it to avoid waste. Most of the pizza was left uneaten and when the waitress came over to see if we were finished, she asked if I wanted the pizza to be boxed up. I declined and explained why. There was no reaction. The plate was simply carried off without a thought. Anybody wishing to have their food covered in pesto, this is the place for you. Otherwise avoid, avoid avoid.

100% the best beef on a Sunday lunch in the area. Sorella is our First choice for Sunday lunch every time however the veg is always a little crunchier than preferred.

Amazing food, lovely restaurant and very nice hard working staff Only complaint I have is with my favourite dish the peppercorn chicken is the portion size! I'm not a big dude or being greedy but literally 4 little pieces of potato for £18 is a wee bit cheeky.. I had to go buy a mc donalds burger afterwards as I was still starving. Its potato! You can get a sack of them for a quid!

A really welcoming décor with very welcoming & friendly staff. The food is the one to really shout about, both me & my partner both complimented the meals. Specifically how you were able to taste how fresh the ingredients were. Overall really great experience and would highly recommend.

Took a while for drinks order to be taken. Starter, garlic bread with cheese. Pizza base, little garlic and smothered in basil oil ( no mention of which on menu) base soggy. Seafood starter consisted of crab croquettes (like cheap scampi) deep fried white bait. (Soggy) calamari ( chewy) and bullet prawns! All served lukewarm. Main of cajun pizza... inedible. So burnt. Main of seafood marinara, Oily pasta with a few cherry tomatoes. I understand marinara is a tomato based sauce? Mussels which were the only flavoursome part and of course, the bullet prawns. 3 times our server passed and saw my empty glass with out asking if i wanted another, I had to ask for another drink. My husband was too embarrassed to complain and would not let me do so. We paid for the food and asked for the pizza to be boxed for home to save an embarrassing complaint scene. Pizza was thrown away! 65 pounds for most part to be thrown away. I have contacted via email to raise concerns and no response. I have no idea how this place is so busy. Terrible food and service. One photo of my starter shows how dry and overcooked it looked. Other photos added are what we didn't eat

Wow! What a lovely place with such a welcoming atmosphere. For drinks I started off with a gorgeous frozen strawberry daiquiri which was then followed by some brilliant food. We would 100% recommend the Gnocchi Al Forno and the Sicilian Seafood Stew. The staff could not have been more attentive and we will definitely be back!

Having been welcomed by the lovely Mark, and then Molly who looked after us amazingly. We came along on Friday 5th May for our Daughters 52nd Birthday 6 of us ate and drank, had various starters and mains, all absolutely lovely. The comment from our Son-In- Law was "a Cracking Night". The Service and attention to detail was super and we will defiantly be back soon.

Saturday evening visit, usually go for the best Sunday lunch. Delicious, perfectly cooked fillet steak with the best ever twice-cooked homemade chips. Mixed grill was plentiful and everything was tasty. Great service and busy atmosphere. Reasonably priced for the quality. Would definitely recommend. They serve gluten free pasts, pizza and other choices.
