Soosi in Leeds

This restaurant is branded as "Mediterranean Grill". We decided to visit for lunch whilst in the area. When we arrived the restaurant was empty and it remained so, apart from family/friends of the owner. The menu was quite wide ranging, although catering for allergy needs did need some discussion. When the meals were served, the quality and portion size were very good. However, we would rate other aspects of our visit as average.

Very tasty food, bit expensive than Bradford but nice place to enjoy the meal. Went there with my family and they all loved it.

Each and every time I have come to this restaurant I’ve loved it! My food was amazing and cooked to perfection. My cousins was great but she did state the rice was a bit dry. It was cooked perfectly fine but there wasn’t any sauce or moisture to it so that was the downside. It definitely hasn’t deterred her from wanting to come back again. Great service and she also got a free bottle of wine because it was her birthday, thank you so much.

A family of 8 visited Soosi this evening. The service was awful. Tables were dirty and we had our 8 dishes served over 25 minutes period. I am so disappointed but not surprised as only a teenager was serving almost the whole restaurant. Will not recommend this place at all.

Food is ok but check your bill carefully. We had a glass on our bill that was supposed to £5.75 but the bill stayed £8! I queried this to be told it was an old menu! The food is quite pricey anyway. Given the choice now, I’d recommend Babtooma which is better and seems to be more truthful with the pricing!

Just been for a meal with friends. Food was so delicious the service was outstanding. The waitress went out of her way to make sure we have everything we needed. Gave extra little treats to my 5 year old. Wish service was always this good in restaurants. Thank you for a lovely meal will definitely recommend.

Went here for dinner with friends today. I feel cheated by this restaurant, all the prices are different on the website, on the menu and on the bill. The prices shown on the menu are excluding VAT, there’s no mention of the menu. They have a mandatory 10% service charge which is not optimal which also isn’t made clear on the menu. These charges turned my £82 bill into £106! If I had known about this in advance that I’d have no issue paying them however there’s no mention of this anywhere. Reminds me of when you’d get duped at a dodgy foreign restaurant with loads of hidden charges. Really sad as the food was half decent and I would have returned. Reading recent reviews I’ve seen other complaints regarding some of these issues and the management blames increasing food prices for these costs. My advice to to raise your prices if you need to make more money so your customers don’t feel like they’re being taken for a ride.

Beautiful meal. We got the houmous starter and mixed lamb kebab for main with jaffa cake cheesecake as dessert. Would highly recommend. Could not fault service. Waitresses very attentive and friendly

This used to be one of my favourite local restaurant. The place has been let down by the new management. After todays visit I will not be returning again. The service was really bad and the manager very rude, she needs to learn some customers skills!

Soosi has to be on my top 5 places to eat. The food is beautiful, and busting with flavours! The service is top class top - One of the most welcoming restaurants I’ve been to. Shocking experiment with overcooked meat, very oily rice. Ended up paying over £10 in service charge and tip without knowing at first. No worth price or the location. Highly do not recommend!!!!!

I heard lots of great reports about soosi so finally tried a takeaway for delivery. The delivery was 1 hour 40 mins. I was originally told an hour and when I rang when it didn't arrive I spoke to the most rude and abrupt woman. Her response was "I don't know when it'll be I'm not the driver" " you live very far" apparently 15 minutes along the ring road is very far! I asked her why she originally said 1 hour if it was going to take longer. She didn't respond so I asked if my food had left with a driver or was still in the shop, she then put the phone down. I rang the number again 10-15 minutes later and spoke to a lovely lady. She was very polite and is an assette to soosi. She told me it had left with a driver and that she would ring him for an update and call me back. During the phone call I could hear the rude woman shouting in her ear very rudely. Not sure if this was at the staff member or about my order. The driver arrived in the meantime and he was also really lovely , i told him about my experience and he was very apologetic. The food ,lamb was well done rather than tender but still tasty, the bread was crispy rather than soft. For the price I wasn't impressed with the amount of meat. 2 skewers was especially 3 peices of chicken and 3 peices of lamb with potentially a full red onion! The hummus was amazing,the salad was very fresh and rice was lovely. All items I had to order separate as you only get 1 side with the main for 16.50 and pay extra for the sides. At the usual place I order from you get , rice, salad , bread, 2 skewers, a minced lamb skewer and a lamb chop all for 16.50! Unfortunately they stopped doing delivery but after this experience I would rather go and collect it myself!

My daughter and I wanted a grilled lunch so we came to this restaurant. What a bad experience it was. I ordered lamb chops, when they came they looked burnt, I tasted them and they were chewy and not cooked properly. I also asked my daughter to eat one and she thought the same. I spoke to the waitress and explained the situation and she asked if I wanted anything else. When we both had eaten and the bill came, the lamb chops were on the bill. I spoke to the management and the woman was obnoxious, rude, argumentative and said I had touched the lamb chops. I explained they were burnt and chewy and I didn't eat them hence why I ordered something else. She refused to take it off the bill. No customer service whatsoever, I will definitely not be going back there. Worse experience ever.

Restaurant food is good & staff very nice . But they do not get their tips gets taken by owners/ management. So don't tip & explain why ! Shame old owner was so nice & generous to his staff.

The food was very nice, but they refused to add ham or pepperoni to the kids pizza, and it seems like they couldn’t be bothered to be accommodating of that request. Also, only a small annoyance, but they slightly over charged us on the drinks....

With work commitments we'd not been to 'Soosi' for a little while but had dinner there, this evening, and I've no hesitation in recommending a visit; always a warm and personal welcome from the manager and staff, great hospitality and fantastic food.The ghormeh sabezi was excellent, this evening - the lamb slowly cooked to tenderness, richly seasoned but not so much as to mask the tang of lime.'Soosi' has a great atmosphere, perfect for a couple or a larger group. Would definitely return.

I had the Persian kebab (koobideh, chenje) in the restaurant. It was great, tasty and well made. The rice was great and so delicious. Definitely recommended

We went to Soosi for a family lunch today (a Sunday) and it was oddly quiet. Service was great, very friendly and helpful, and the food was very good. My wife and I shared the mixed grill, which at £39.50 is not cheap, but you get your money’s worth! The lamb was mouth-wateringly tender and the portions were very generous, so the kids had to help us to ensure there was nothing left!

I have known turaj for years and i cannot recommend soosi highly enuf. If u want beautiful fresh tasty food then u must go. Great value for money. U can tell they take pride in what they cook and i know how delicious iranian food is. Lovly friendly host. U wont eat a better meal in the area.

Had lunch last Saturday. What a pleasure, a warm welcome and a warm restaurant. An excellent choice of dishes and we had three different ones and each one a delight. Would definitely recommend this lovely restaurant.

Pero anoche lo hizo por fin, ¡después de los mejores restaurantes de clase! ! ! la comida y el servicio de rango medio fueron muy agradables en una noche de inviernos fríos para entrar a este encantador restaurante WARM decorado con un servicio agradable. Mirando a nuestro alrededor, todos contentos con sus pedidos de comida, luego vino nuestro suculento cordero y arroz perfecto, además de un delicioso sabor. La ensalada para mí y mi invitado comía pollo en salsa de champiñones, sus comentarios ahora eran "increíbles" Y, para colmo, nadie me pidió que escribiera un buen comentario.

An Iranian/Persian restaurant that serves fresh kebabs, salads, a whole range of delicious starters including a wonderful aubergine dip. We took a 5yr old and a 2yr old (there is a children's menu) and the children were given a lovely inflatable balloon on arrival. They were also given (yes given free of charge) a surprise plate of amazing ice-creams for pudding. The 5yr old said it was the best restaurant he had ever been to. The owner is such a lovely man and made the children so welcome. A great atmosphere, warm and friendly. I would highly recommend.

Probé la parrillada mixta esta vez y la compartí entre 2. ¡Más que suficiente, incluso sugeriría que con entrantes y un postre esto podría compartirse fácilmente entre 4 y quizás incluso 6! Fue agradable experimentar el lugar ocupado ya que la última vez fue muy tranquilo, el servicio no se hundió en absoluto, aunque estaba muy ocupado. El personal amable y el propietario es muy acogedor. Definitivamente volveré. He estado aquí como pareja dos veces, pero sin duda es un buen lugar para las familias. El servicio es rápido, la comida es excelente y la relación calidad-precio no está nada mal.

Sorosis is a lovely restaurant with a friendly owner and great staff. The food is very good, however, there are other restaurants serving exactly the same food for a much lower price and for this reason we no longer go to Soosi.

No estaba seguro de qué esperar cuando me invitan a unirse a la familia para un viaje a Soosi en el norte de Leeds. El menú parecía. . . impar. Fue catalogado como una "parrilla mediterránea" o un "restaurante persa", pero el menú tenía todo tipo de rarezas. Fajitas, Stroganoff De Cordero, Pizzas, Nuggets De Pollo. Nada de lo que sonaba remotamente atractivo o muy persa, por no hablar del Mediterráneo.

Primera visita. Fácil aparcamiento al otro lado de la calle y dentro del restaurante hay un gran ambiente. No está demasiado ocupado, así que puedes elegir una mesa en cualquier lugar. La comida era excelente, el servicio también. Teníamos un plato de hoummus y otro de berenjena, nuez con pan caliente (persa). Los platos principales de pollo alla crema y el kebab de pollo eran sabrosos y de buen tamaño. El personal era muy servicial y profesional. Salimos gratamente llenos y recomendaríamos una visita.

The food was without question delicious in every way, each mouth full exploded with flavour tantalising every taste bud. The service received was fantastic. The atmosphere is welcoming & friendly with appealing decor. I would highly recommend Soosi Mediterranean Grill!! If I could give it 6 stars I would.

Having lived right next door and driven past here daily since its opening, it was only when our favourite turkish restaurant closed down that we thought this may offer a great alternative and decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. Althought quiet when we arrived it did fill up as the evening went on and the atmosphere was nice. Decor was simple. There was Iranian music playing in the background which was nice. We got drinks, starters and a main. Food was great. Fresh and cooked well. Flavours were lovely. Portion sizes were generous and both of us actually agreed that next time we would forgo the starter as we were unable to finish the main. Leftovers were boxed up for us to take home which was a nice touch. Prices were fair, probably a little cheaper than anticipated for the quality of the food. Will defo come back.

Fantastic Persian restaurant, we visited on a Saturday night and Bobbi the owner welcomed us like family. Nothing was too much trouble for Him and his staff . The food was delicious and reasonably priced .A very enjoyable experience in a very friendly well presented Restaurant

We visited recently and I have to say the food was delicious. The starters were almost enough for a meal on their own and were fantastic. The kebab was the best I've had and the service was second to none. The owner and waitress were very attentive and polite. 10/10. We will be returning and I would recommend it to anyone as the variety on the menu can please all tastes.

I went to this restaurant on Wednesday 26th for a family meal and the food was to die for! One waitress especially stuck out to me for her excellent skills and service. She was tall and blonde, didn’t catch her name but she made sure we were satisfied with everything, she seemed to know what she was doing. However there was another waitress who had short brown hair and smaller in height who seemed slightly rude and careless with her job, the complete opposite of the other waitress which made us question whether they trained all their staff right. Although this was a disappointment, the food was great and it was lovely having at least one nice waitress, would recommend!

Visited at the weekend. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived, but as we hadn't booked we were taken to a table at the back. The young staff were not very attentive (even in an empty restaurant!). The food was very good, plentiful and tasty although a little on the expensive side. However the service really let them down. We had to repeatedly ask for drinks.

My husband and I are regulars at Soosi whether it be the two of us or with friends. The food is always exceptional, so much flavour and great quality. The staff are super friendly and it's a great cosy environment. Great value for what you get. 5 stars every time! Thank you!

Food, wine and service were terrible. Hummus and flafel are shop bought from costco, food prices do not reflect the quality of food served. Lamb kebabs are tough and chewy. Staff are untrained, poor customer service overall. Waited too long for a £19 bottle of wine that tasted like vinegar. If you want nice food visit the greek OR thai restaurant up the road!!

One of the reasons I have never eaten here is the fact it is lit up like Blackpool and I have to admit, all the bling and flashing lights put me off.

Decided after a hard day at work to head here as the wife couldn't be bothered cooking!! Lovely mixed starters to share - hummus, falafel, garlic bread, tsatziki, salad etc. Main course was a chicken skewer & lamb skewer with rice. Beautiful. Washed down with a large white wine!! Overall, a lovely evening!!

Came on a busy Saturday night, service was excellent and efficient. We've never been before but I had the lamb neck, cooked to perfection! My husband had the gormeh sabzi with rice! Best food we have ever tasted! Perfect dinner date! Very friendly staff! Will be coming back again!!!!

Me and my boyfriend decided to pay a visit to this Mediterranean grill this warm sunday afternoon, after researching the menu we found it was suitable to both of our taste buds. My first impressions of the general layout of the restaurant is that its very modern and has a quite classy attire to the restaurant. The staff were very pleasurant as we were greeted by a nice waitress and members of staff attended to us once or two to ask us how our meal was. My opinions on the meal is that you're definitely NOT getting what u pay for, I ordered a chicken kebab and my boyfriend ordered falafel and houmous, whereas my boyfriend quite enjoyed his meal, mine on the other hand was quite poor quality. The chicken for starters was really rubbery and u could hear the rubbery sound when you chew and for the rice, makes you feel quite sick after a few mouths as its got quite a distinct taste but rice is optional. My other concern as the cutlery, as I was waiting for food I was inspecting my cutlery which was a knife and fork and came across that they weren't cleaned to the best of intentions, it looked as tho there was little specs of food stuck on the fork, I reached over another table and found the same situation with the other cutlery but saw this one had a bit of fluff on the end of the fork so my other alternative was to wipe it down with some antibacterial hand wash. At the end of the day, the food left me with a nasty pain in my stomach and leaves you very bloated after a couple of bites. The only thing I like about this place was the good customer service, but I would not recommend this place personally.

Starters were lovely, main wasn't nice at all, house wine £17 a bottle was like vinegar! No drinks menu so you can't see the prices before you order! But our main gripe was the waitress, she was so rude definitely will not be returning

Went for a family meal here in July and all were underwhelmed by their food choices. We have been going to this restaurant through several name changes but have to say that this time the food was a let down compared to the usual excellent dishes. The stew and wraps felt like I could have done just a good of job at home.

My meal appeared okay but a bit salty. On arriving home was met with the most awful excruciating stomach pains from the food here. I will never return and would question hygeine levels.

Last night me and my partner ate here, the value and quality was spot on! If you like a traditional Persian Kebab this is the place for you! My Mrs had an Italian Seafood dish which was highly delicious also. Highly recommend.

I don't understand the few bad reviews on here. We were there on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy. We were greeted by friendly staff and the manager who took time to chat to us and advise us on the menu, the specials and the wine. The food came quickly and was hot and delicious, followed by indulgent Baklava and a Persian dessert. No qualms about returning soon.

I used to really like this place.Good points...nice owner, very friendly. Good food and service. Good menu.Bad points...owner has ruined the place by putting a huge 10ft tacky, lit up and moving advertisement on the wall. This shows food they are serving. Moves up and down and looks like a cheap fast food joint in Blackpool. This is on the outside wall to attract passing trade but is fully visible inside the restaurant. I suffer from a reaction to bright, moving lights that causes migraines so I can no longer visit this place...shame. Myself and my family had to leave as a result of this as it didnt used to be there before.

Visited this restaurant on recommendation of a friend. Party of four and had made a reservation, so we're seated as soon as we arrived. The starters and mains were excellent and all of us were happy with our food and service. We would recommend this place to others.

Not tradition food in anyway at all. The menu is bland and the 1 option wine menu is laughably cheap and tastes terrible. Very poor service and the staff have a lot of attitude. I appreciate it's not easy being run off your feet but there is no excuse for not being polite. The Resturant has a cold breeze throughout, guests sitting in coats and scarfs, not good! Wobbly tables and chairs and let's not start on the cutlery which was so old that nothing silver matched (Vader and dull) and the wooden knifes were not wooden anymore. And to top it off the manager got the written bill incorrect and over charged by £3.50....and when confronted about it, ignored me and continued to serve others, actually tuning his back to me as to say go away...the poor waitress was so embarrassed and she apologised, NOT the manger, who had a face like a he was sucking a sore sweet. Overall 2/10....would NOT recommend to anyone at all, waste of money, poor service, very long wait between courses (staff are clearly over run) the food is bland/tasteless, cold and not in anyway traditional Mediterranean.

We enjoyed an evening here with friends. The lamb kebabs in particular were delicious and the service generally good. One of our friends who does not like being photographed was unhappy about the owner taking our picture for the TV display without asking first. Perhaps this is something that should be addressed. Otherwise a good experience.

We was told this was the place for an authentic meal. What a let down. I ordered garlic mushrooms which was too rich, however would not of minded some bread. Husband ordered chicken wings but nothing to wash his fingers even a wrapped wipe would suffice. My salmon was over cooked and very dry, hubby had risotto which he enjoyed. When I asked for another glass of wine my empty glass remained, till I asked for it to be removed. Regulars are well received and accommodated for, my husband reckons I just ordered wrong, my point is nothing should be wrong.

What a lovely experience. Large family outing enjoyed lovely food from excellent menu of choice, with exceptionally nice service, in warm , attractive atmosphere. Very highly recommended.

On a spontaneous whim to eat out, we decided to try Soosi having seen the many complimentary reviews; we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself has a vibrant and quirky style, with a very welcoming atmosphere and effortless hospitality. Service is swift, very friendly and equally accommodating. And not least, the cuisine is second to none - we elected for a selection of Persian starters and main dishes, all of which were prepared to perfection. The chicken - deliciously succulent; the saffron rice - fragrant, flavoursome and unbelievably light; the home-made bread - a perfect balance of accompanying without overwhelming. Very soon we we're eagerly planning to bring a wider group of friends for an evening out, which is a well deserved endorsement. I'll return without hesitation, and recommend Soosi unreservedly.

Recently moved to the area and visit here every few months with my girlfriend. Really enjoy the food and the owner is very friendly and always gives you some time. Great service and price

Usually suspicious of restaurants who do multi cuisines as this normally dilutes the quality of the food. I needn't have worried as the food was superb. Had a mixed grill, beautifully cooked with rice & delicious spices. My wife had an Italian dish she was delighted with. Would recommend this restaurant whichever of the cuisines you choose from.

Bright and gaudy. Good meat lovers emporium. Nice chicken and lamb kebab with east Mediterranean rice. Novelty of your photo being taken and then being broadcast on a big TVs whilst you eat. Beer is in bottles only which is disappointing. If you like meat this is a good place with the added bonus it is straightforward parking on the road outside the restaurant.

My wife choose this place after the Lantern festival as this place is quite close by, and serve bit of different food. The manager was so welcoming and even helped us to understand how to eat the starter in a proper way. The starter was feta cheese and naan with tarragon and basil, it was awesome to eat if you follow the rules how to eat that. The manager had the passion to ask the question to us if we knew how to eat that. Persian dishes have their own ways of eating and we were really keen to learn how they would recommend, so he told us how to.. the chicken grills were also nicely cooked and finishing touch was Persian tea. the whole evening was very pleasant and brilliant experience.

I love this place! Lots of Iranian food! Must recommend the koobideh kebab and the chenjah kebab with rice ! Also the shirazi salad is amazing !!

I went with my partner, mum and grandparents. And the manager was so awful and terribly rude. We asked for some homemade break THREE times and we didn't get any in the end. When we got our mains, we had to wait another 15 minutes for one other main. He didn't even apologise or anything. I wouldn't go back. Awful customer service

We have visited Soosi numerous times over the 12 month it's now a tradition to come here for food whenever we visit Leeds. We have dined all over Leeds and this is my favourite place by far. The food is outstanding and ample portions. My son has never being adventurous with food and would stick to the same things when eating out but every time we've called here he has tried something new and has never been disappointed. The owner took my son and his cousin to make their own garlic breads and cook their own lamb kebabs. The lads loved it and we thought it was a lovely gesture. The kitchen is open plan so you can watch them cooking everything. There has always been a lovely friendly buzz about it and we have never felt rushed or pressured like some other places we've been when they've been busy. Honestly can not fault the place from the cleanliness to the food and the staff and interesting stories the children were told about different countries and cultures.

Ate here last night. The service was warm and friendly. The food excellent, I had the Koobideh Kebab and it was juicy and succulent, will deffo come again.

Called in today as a family of 4. 2 adults, a toddler and baby. Was rudely told we could not bring our pram in. I tried explaining that the baby was only 4 months old and couldn't sit in a high chair yet so clearly that's why we had a pram but she wasn't interested at all. I could totally understand this if the place was busy but there was another family of 4 people in the whole place that was it and I can't imagine at 1.30pm there would all of a sudden be a rush on! I ended up walking out as the rude waitress really didn't care and clearly wasn't bothered for having any customers. Went to a lovely little Italian a bit further up which had lovely staff and would never not let a pram in! All families with children avoid this place!

My mum has been telling me about this place for ages, so we decided to come here for her birthday and we weren't disappointed. The service from the staff was first class and I cannot ever remember going for a meal with all the family where every single one of us enjoyed our food. Well today that happened and can't wait to return!

Food very average. I had lamb chops which were too pink in the middle and tasteless. The waitress with blonde curly hair has no customer service skills whatsoever. Very fake and in love with her self. Second and very last ever visit. Disappointed.

Came away from our meal here thinking we must go more often!A lovely warm welcome.Food that is beautifully prepared, and delicious. Loved the "fusion" menu bringing the cuisines of the Med together. My penne arrabiata was definitely best ever!It's got some quirky touches such as the slide show of photos of people who've dined their previously...lots of happy diners Finally, the owner was clearly very happy to talk to us about his culture and the country of his birth -Iran. He took such a pride in it and we felt honoured to hear him share his culture.Highly recommended.

Superb Persian restaurant - friendly, family run and good atmosphere. Food excellent quality and good value for the standard of service and fresh produce included. This is local to us and wish we had discovered it sooner. Thoroughly recommend it - you will not be disappointed. House wine by the glass was lovely too.
