Went for my birthday dinner, Had the best time ever, the food was great and the service was even better shout out to Michael or waiter the absolute best, definitely going back soon

Michael, our server was very attentive and friendly. I came for bottomless brunch with a friend and he explained the menu to us perfectly and gave great drinks suggestions. Would definitely come back again ☺️

Sunrisa was such a wonderful find in Leicester. The service provided by Michael and his colleagues Chloe and Elicia was first class. Great menu recommendations - the Morcilla Black Sausage was succulent as was the Chicken Parrilla. And the flat iron steak so tender and full of flavour. Completed perfectly by the recommended Winemakers Reserve Malbec. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Went for Mother’s Day and they gave us a nice table upstairs and gave really good service. The food was good and if you like steak you get loads of it. Really good price would recommend for food and drinks

We were served by Michael and he was so kmowledagble about the menu and gave some great recommendations, even down to how to have the dishes come out in stages, not all at once. He was attentive, kind, chatty and just made the experience so memorable. We were saying how great he was the next day to friends. They then went this week and got served by him too!

Lovely ambience for birthday drinks

Michael and Silvia were fantastic at looking after us. When people give me a card to do a rating, I pretty much always don't bother but honestly they were incredible. They gave advice, were attentive and had genuine smiles making us feel welcome. Great atmosphere and we had a great meal.

Fabulous and friendly service from Silvia & Laura. Sonrisa lives up to it's name, smiley service from all. Great tapas, portions were perfect and reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere with authentic music. Definitely coming back.

If you are looking for the best steaks in Leicester , this restaurant is an absolute must-visit.

Don’t bother going here for drinks… they refuse to take orders at the bar, insisting that it’s table service only. Sadly none of the wait staff monitor the tables in the bar area, so you’re just sat waiting forever to get a drink. When they then get your drink order wrong, expect to see plenty of surly eye rolls from the bar staff when you ask them to rectify it.

Food was good, our server was awful

Previously had been and would say 5 Star. Not the case in this occasion. Really disappointed with poor service from server, bar, kitchen and manager. Certainly can do better & to rectify the issue. Note it’s the basics to serve hot food, to the right table. Not the then reheat already cooked and cooled food when you are paying a premium price!

The restaurant, the service, the staff, the food is absolutely first class at Sonrisa. Our server Michael was a sweetheart I got a lots of question about steaks, but he explained everything very patiently. The food was perfect, I got one of the best Birthday dinner. Went for lunch on Saturday, and it wasn't what I expected. The music is very loud, you couldn't hear normal conversation. It felt more like a 'party' venue. The food is very expensive for what it is. For almost £8 for 1 tiny empanada! The broccoli was swimming in unpleasant oil/butter substance... On a positive note, the service was friendly!

This has been a restaurant that has gained a decent reputation after some teething problems when it opened, with friends reporting long wait times for food. Becoming something of a feature of The Leicester Lanes area, it occupies a former deli, and it is a beautiful building and space. The decor is peasant and has many hanging plants with an open-ish kitchen. Very busy at weekends when we visited, booking is probably a good idea to avoid disappointment although it is a large restaurant overall if you are just a couple. Service was reasonably good, with a relatively short wait for drinks at this busy time. The food arrived in a reasonable time, too, if one is on a time schedule. I had the pork tomahawk. This was well cooked and delicious. The potatoe bar with it was nice, served with an apricot chimichuri. Drinks were ok also, and we had water brought to the table. This is not, however, a cheap eat restaurant. Some may say that the price point is high, but the food was of good quality. Spoke with the floor manager at the end, and he was very keen to know our thoughts. With great space and good food, this is somewhere I would come back to, especially for steak and / or pork belly. Some nice tables for couples too if you want a little privacy. Thank you for a nice evening.

I have tried contacting guest services prior to posting this review. On 31st January we had our first visit to Sonrisa. We were booked in for 7pm however we were very early and we were able to be seated as it was not very busy at all. We were seated and served by Amber. We were excited to try the restaurant as we had purchased birthday vouchers and had come out for a special occasion. We were advised how much food to order which was helpful. We ordered drinks of which we then asked for water for the table. A few moments later Amber returned with an open bottle of water charged at almost £4, when all tables around us had tap water. It felt quite dishonest of her to be honest. We ordered our food and it came out quickly. Unfortunately, it simply was not good. It was chewy, and actually quite flavourless. It was beautifully presented which is why I was so shocked about the lack of any Argentinian flavour whatever. We even left food - it was just such a disappointment. We got the bill after around an hour and 10 minutes. We didn't order more drinks purely because we were annoyed about the large bottle of water we had to get through. We would of ordered more cocktails but just had a sour taste in our mouth. We paid the bill with the discretionary charge. We didn't speak with Amber regarding our experience, purely because we felt as though it wouldn't be taken seriously. Fast forward to 6 hours later over night, both my husband and I are deeply unwell overnight, dehydrated presumably from the amount of salt used in the dishes, to the point of unfortunately being sick. We are honestly so disappointed, I purchased vouchers because I saw such excellent reviews of the restaurant and for it to be such a let down like this is really sad to see. I am also not one to review any restaurants, but the experience was genuinely so disappointing I had to raise it with you in the hope it's being taken seriously. The sickness overnight was the last major factor.

Visited here over Christmas. The restaurant is stunning! A lovely old converted bank. Food was a mix of tapas and steak. We all enjoyed our meal I went for tapas and really enjoyed every dish! Cocktail were 241 and delicious! Only one waiter and bar member on which was a shame as they were rushed off their feet! Not their fault though they did a great job!

I celebrated my birthday at the Sonrisa and we were given the large table upstairs, which was perfect. We had our own waiter for the night (sorry I didn’t get his name) and he was excellent all night keeping the drinks flowing. The food was out of this world and loved by everyone in my party. I’ve been to the Sonrisa in Leicester a few times and they never disappoint. Thank you for making my birthday so special ❤️

Starter good, main extremely poor. Pasta was only luke warm, steak was excessively grisly. Complaint was ignored. Some other meals at our table were better. But I certainly wouldn’t revisit. This one is a swing and a miss for me.

Overall a disappointing experience. Restaurant was virtually empty, yet service was slow and indifferent. Menu was unimpressive, portions - especially the steak - were pitiful for the high prices. Some flavours were nice, but not enough to encourage a second visit.

First night in Leicester and we wanted somewhere nice for a drink and a bite to eat. We bumped into this restaurant. Our luck! The service is incredibly nice (thanx Ivan!) and customer-friendly. The drinks cold and tasty, but the food did the trick. Nowhere have I eaten such mouth-watering olives as I did here. And the tomatos-on-toast? Simple delicious. Our dinner was also really good. The meat was tender and the side dishes tasty. So, yes definitely a place to come back to, should we ever be in Leicester again.

Had a lovely time at Sonrisa today and Amber was really helpful since the time we walked in. Loved the food and the atmosphere with the nice authentic interior. This was the 1st time me and my fiance tried the Argentinian cuisine and Amber did not fail us to choose what we would love. Definitely coming back again when we are in Leicester.

Spur of the moment decision to eat at this absolutely fabulous restaurant in Leicester. This was our first visit and we we blown away. Everything was perfect. As our appetites are very small these days the starter menu was great!

Dinner and drinks were exceptional as always! The same manager that’s always on and a new starter who was only 18 provided us with the best service we’ve had on our many visits! 5* food, 5* drinks and 5* service, couldn’t really ask for a better place to go!

Didn't want to leave a negative review because it seemed like a unique and different venue. Table for two, please, me and my son. I presume the manager was the man who greeted us and seated us . He was very polite and friendly when we arrived so I chose to pay him when we had finished our modest introduction to the cuisine. The food was good but in contrast the waiting staff seemed distant even though we sat near the kitchen. In their defence, it was a little busy. We would like to thank the manager for being the example.

Delicious food, albeit very pricey. Have been for a few occasions and their special events aren’t well managed - had a very rushed valentines last year. Generally nice place to go to eat and see and be seen but I’ll be honest it’s more expensive than the experience warrants.

Slight criticism would be that the food could have been hotter!
