Great chip shop, always had a good meal. Have been using them for the best part of forty years

Half cooked oily chips, very oily fish, will go back to Emmer Green in future.

Got there half an hour before they closed they had runner of chips and refused to cook more. So I went home without my dinner

Good chippy, quick service, the fish is a tad oily for my taste but Im comparing it to high end pubs. It is by far the best I’ve ordered from a chippy in Reading. Would definitely order again in the future

I get chips from here quite a lot and they used to be some of the best around, they seem to have changed the recipe or the way they cook recently because the chips now taste hard and stale, please go back to the way you cooked them before!

Very simple pleasures of a decent portion of Chips with Curry Sauce Even when I have waited for fresh chips, never rushed, never undercooked Its a lunch time treat I manage my rounds to ensure I get in once a month

Chips were good, that's about it! Everything else looked and tasted like it had been there for about a week! Haven't used this place in years and wanted to try it out again - big mistake! The food has given me and my daughter really bad stomach cramps. Won't be back.

Until very recently I have given this place a 5-star review. Unfortunately the last 2 times I have visited the food hasn't tasted very nice. I think it may be the oil they are frying the food in but cant be sure. The Food is cooked properly just the taste is off. For the time being use somewhere else.

Chips are great but the fish is never crispy. Its soggy need to change the recipe to make it crispy

Lucky to have this f&c shop in the village, but they recently changed their curry sauce which is a shame as its too peppery for me. 😞 but I understand some may prefer that.

Yet another great takeaway in the village. I normally get Chicken and chips and it is always cooked to perfection.

Chippy tea for father in laws 92 birthday. The fish was good and nice size chips were good too. Just like it used to be. Social distancing was good and the wait wasnt long at all. Glad it is open again.

Nasty driping greasy battered sausage. 5 of use had and 5 of us left.all most like they had been recooked. So i squeeze one in to a egg cup and nearly filled it. Never again.

Food isn't bad but not accepting card in 2018 is madness and regularly puts me off visiting as I have to go to a cashpoint first.

Consistently good fish and chips... Have been going for many years now. Easily better than many of the 'award winning' chippies I have been to...

First came here 23 years ago after my parents moved to the area, used to sit on the left side cabinet whilst my dad ordered and my feet couldn't touch the ground! Have since travelled all over and even visited some 'award winning' fish and chip shops but nothing comes close, the best fish and chips in the world!

Best chip chop there is. The fish is always perfect, cooked enough to flake apart when you eat it, but not fall apart while you're taking it home. The chips are always perfect too, not over/ undercooked. There is a nice selection of different fish and the saveloy and sausage options are pretty good too. We've only ever had one "meh" round of chips from them (and probably go there 1 or 2 times a month).

The fish and chips are decent when they are fresh, like in most chippies. However the sausages are very poor quality, the worst from a chippy I have had.

Terrible fish. Greasy and sloppy, fish inside was dry and oil too hot and old because the batter was smooth and too dark. Chips were not much better. The owners barely know what customer service is. They genuinely look miserable when serving the people who turn up. They only take cash. They could at least learn how to cook fish and chips properly. Very, very poor.

Very poor. Saveloy was gritty and was so greasy I felt the need to use mouthwash after eating it. The wait for the fish and chips was too long, we had to wait 15 minutes for it to be cooked despite the fact that the shop had just opened and we weren't told of any wait. They also gave me a different drink to what I ordered.

This chip shop is the best anywhere. Went to a famous chip shop on holiday and was disappointed as I wasn't as good as sonning common.

Perfect fish and chips (skin off the fish so maybe they read their reviews). Standard counter and food on show so not sure about others review about 70's look. Great portion size.

Fish with skin not nice soggy chips. Chinese Staff that do not smile .just grab your cash ..place looks like a shop in a 70s locked in a time warp...
