The restaurant has super cute decor - it’s all green and retro! All the food was delicious! The pho was so rich in flavour and the papaya salad was just the right level of spicy and sweet. V reasonably priced too

Song Que Café, has long been a favorite of mine, consistently delivering exceptional Vietnamese cuisine. Their phở, particularly the Chicken Phở, is a standout—rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced, making it a staple in my top five Vietnamese restaurants.  However, during my visit, I was slightly disappointed by the service, which did not meet the standards I’ve come to expect. Despite the excellent food, the service issues were upsetting. It’s a shame, as this restaurant has been a reliable choice for authentic Vietnamese flavors. I hope this experience was an anomaly and look forward to returning, hoping for a more consistent service experience.

Noodle in soup had almost no taste with undercooked noodle. They asked us twice to pay while we were still eating deserts... when has it changed to this bad?

Chicken pho was amazing. Chicken curry and rice was extremely poor. Orange juice was filled with ice. Wouldn’t go out of my way to go there and will only order pho and noodle dishes if I go again.

Absolutely amazing! We came here as a large group, and every single one of us left impressed. The food was bursting with flavor, and there was a fantastic selection of drinks to match. We shared a variety of starters, and every dish was spot on—fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Popped in after work and I had lovely service with a smile and a great chilled atmosphere. Nothing fancy real honest hearty authentic cuisine. Bonus that they are also open till late evening. Would recommend and would come again.

I got the prawn curry and egg fried rice, and it was the BEST curry I’ve ever had. Fresh balanced flavours; it nourished my soul. Highly recommend.

ngl I’m not sure why this place is so hyped, it’s been on my list for a while and went tonight for the first time. I’ll start by saying the service was excellent, but the food… not so much. There was a small bug crawling on the plate of spring rolls, and my papaya salad had a large hair in it as he was handing it to me…. quite shocking on both accounts!! The pho broth was not deep enough and lacked salt, the beef was nice and tender but the whole thing in general just felt meh - have had way better in London. Oh well.

I've been coming here for the last three years, and the food is consistently amazing. The flavors are top-notch, and the quality never disappoints. However, due to how good the food is, the wait can sometimes be a bit longer than expected. It's definitely worth it, but just something to keep in mind if you're in a hurry!

The food was bland with no flavour. I recommended getting a vegan option instead which had much more flavours.

The food was great but the dishes were dirty 🤢I was with some colleagues so decided to stick it out not to ruin the lunch for everyone, but if I were by myself I’d have got up and left. Multiple dishes had stains on them, as if they were unwashed and I felt very disgusted.

We've missed this restaurant. We used to come here quite often as it's one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants in London. We haven't had the chance to visit lately. We finally were able to come visit again today. The food and service is still as great as ever. Highly recommended!

Lovely food, staff and atmosphere

Food is lovely and service is good. It is super busy, so wouldn’t go if you’re after a calm meal . Some good vegan options, only would suggest they identify these a bit clearer as seem to luno vegan and vegetarian together. Service was great but wasn’t included in bill, I think they’re doing themselves a disservice as no one has cash nowadays and there’s no option to include within the standard payment so ended up tipping way less just because we had no cash!

A large and hugely popular Vietnamese restaurant serving a delectable variety of traditional Vietnamese dishes. The restaurant is located at a busy road intersection. The restaurant has a wide dining area with plain decor providing a very casual and relaxed setting. There's usually a queue for tables during busy times. Even during busy times the service is prompt as they have a large and effective team of waiting staff.

Can I say this is the most authentic and delicious viet restaurant I’ve ever been? And is just 10 mins by walk from Columbia flower market. We had 1 beef noodle soup (you can taste authentic flavours of beef broth and rare beef), 1 traditional pancake with prawns (crunchy and delicious, with the traditional herbs alongside omg! ) and finally the stewed caramelised fish, chef recommendation, with boiled rice, the fish just melts in your mouth, strongly recommend these dishes! Staff very friendly

Super popular and I don’t know why. mien Tay down the street is better and I regret not going there today. Thought I should try it out but the seats are tightly packed, table paper was already dirty with flecks of soup. And the rare steak pho just wasn’t very good. The meet was not flavourful and the soup was MSG flavoured with little depth. Quite disappointed

Best Vietnamese food in the area

Haven't eaten here for about 10 years but friends really wanted to go so made a booking for tonight and despite being a Tuesday it was heaving when we arrived - with a queue down Kingsland Road. Even though we arrived on time with a booking we had to wait a while for the table to be ready. We ordered a selection of dishes which were ok, some better than others but overall nothing outstanding. There are far better Vietnamese restaurants in East London (and I've been to Vietnam). The toilets were filthy which makes me nervous about the state of the kitchen. The decor hasn't been touched since my last visit (possibly not cleaned properly either as everything I am wearing smells of cooking oil) and despite asking for water for the table twice it never materialised which was a shame as the caramelised fish was so salty I am still thirsty hours later. Unlikely to return based on this visit.

Always will be one of the best and worth the wait if need to!

Super popular jaunt near Hoxton Overground station. Service is quick. The starters — soft shell crab, salt and pepper squid, prawn summer rolls — were fresh and tasty. The staple bun had excellent spicy garlic fish sauce and generous serving of grilled pork and spring rolls. One of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants in this city.

Well worth a visit, great authentic Vietnamese in the heart of Hoxton.

Very dapper day vibes with the crystal chandelier against the almost mint green floor to ceiling colour that makes this long-established Vietnamese restaurant a standout amongst a street of many others offering the same fare. Local aunties can be seen gathered around larger tables reminiscent of how Chinese cafes are set up. Service is quick and efficient with actual Vietnamese staff in the front (who are very sweet and happy if you can actually say some of the dishes in Vietnamese - you can see it makes their day seeing you enjoy the dishes of the homeland). Don't worry, a fully English menu with pictures of some of the popular dishes is available. Also, how cute is the store front printed as the logo - on the business cards and take out bag? Very French bakery vibes. I guess you can truly say this is a place reflective of influences. Prawn crackers are given on the house to munch on whilst you peruse the menu for common sought-after dishes as well as a range of things I haven't seen elsewhere. I was keen to try the caramelised fish - sweet, sticky, spicy, and umani. What a great pairing with freshly boiled rice. I also get excited anywhere I can see banh khot (appears on the menu as prawn muffins, which I find endearing), so I ordered that too. It was crispy but anaemic. I felt it was lacking in the coconut taste I've fallen for in other establishments, but it's still a savoury mini pancake, so I enjoyed it nevertheless.
