This place used to be excellent and I'm talking over the 15 years that we've lived locally, it was our go to chippy. Tonights kebabs were awful, greasy, cold and unappealing. Happy to drive elsewhere now for better.

Stopped at a local campsite three times and this chip shop puts my local area to shame. Value for money and great food. Portions are as they should be.

Called in after walking with local walking group. At least 20 of us piled in. Service brilliant, friendly staff. Food excellent. Will definitely return

Exalted place for fish and chips and more

About 15 mins before closing and no chips last Friday. Went more recently and had an excellent box meal

Dry soggy chips . Rushed service . Sausage was like a sandle topped of with cheap undercooked beans . How this place has 4.7 rating I’ll never know

I used to come here everyday straight from work, I've moved area now,but now I drive I always travel back to somercoats for a good old chippy from here, absolutely amazing food and prices ,the mini mixes are brilliant sizes for the price, lovely staff to ❤️

Just bought 2 kebabs & they were awful, cold & don't know what the chilli sauce is but it's disgusting, went straight in bin as couldn't be bothered driving back, won't be going their again.

Had a regular kebab from here . The kebab was nice and there was plenty of meat and salad but the meat was a little cold. I did go close to closing time. Would try again a little early in the day

The fish and chips are decently portioned with well cooked fresh tasting fish. The lady who serves is as dim as the night though. You ask for "fish and chips twice" and she starts asking questions about mini fillets and confusing the whole order. Fish and chips twice is a pretty standard way of asking for two full sized fish, and two large portions of chips. Otherwise, it's alright for a local chippy

The place as been owned by the same people for years and thier food and service as always been spot on.

Prices keep going up, burnt kebab meat sold me that should have been thrown away which is dishonest by owner and tasted awfull, chip portions smaller and gone up aparently although it depends who you are it seems. Won't return or recommend. Avoid this Dodgy set up and price lottery, if not local you'll pay more.

I live in South normanton and go to Somercotes chippy because it's brilliant we have had fish-and-chips pie and chips kebabs when we've got home they've all been nice and hot 10 out of 10👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Bought a kebab here after work . Unfortunately it was cold when we returned home. The meat was hard and overcooked. The salad was sloppy. it was tasteless and we wouldn't have one from here again.

One of the few chippy in the area open on Sundays. The fish is nice and the prices reasonable. Definitely will go there again.

I paid £3 something for a large chips and only got a small portion, what a rip off

Friendly staff, food is nice and good size portions. They also accept card and cash payments and the staff are friendly. They only lose points for me as I feel they could stay open later on certain weeknights (e.g. Friday and Saturday).

Best chippy in the area by a long long way!

Since moving to area I have used this chippy a few times, never disappoints! Tonight is the first time I’ve tried their chicken mix kebab. Was absolutely delicious ( I’m hard to please when it Comes to chippys because I’ve worked and cooked in them) The salad was so fresh and not your basic boring variety. The portion size and the flavour in meats fantastic! Highly recommend!! Photo does not do it justice because I’ve mixed it all together.

Best chip shop in the whole of Amber valley, I have had a meal at every chip shop in the whole of Amber valley and this is by far the best chip shop. cooked to perfection, friendly staff, quick service, and very large portions at a very reasonable price. This is the only chip shop I can recommend for anyone living in swanwick, somercotes, Ripley, leadbrooks, alfreton. It beats every chip shop in amber valley, I would only hope all other chip shops near by to learn how to cook there food the same as you. Well done, you have made me really happy that we have a good chippy nearby. As no other chippy even came close to being good enough.

Not great at all. Undercooked fish which was still cold in the centre. The batter (the little bit that was still on the fish) was still like dough. Usually really nice from here but tonight they couldn’t get the order right. The staff barked at me when I told them it wasn’t right and to top it off as mentioned above the fish was awful which ruined the whole meal. Think I’ll try another chippy next time.

Great chippy and friendly staff, just stand next to the window, order your food and enjoy. Just had our last chips before lockdown and they were the best I have ever had for ages.
