Always my first stop in town, great music, and friendly staff and the pool and classic movies are an added bonus

Wouldn't return here. Bartender was rude, aggressive and attempted to instigate an argument due to him making a drinks error. Spoke to manager Robert who agreed behaviour of bar tender was out of order however attempted to explain same stating bartender was experiencing marital and financial problems and was therefore stressed. Wouldn't go here if you're looking for a nice night as the abilities and attitudes of staff is very poor. EDIT - noting the reply below I would stand by the comment of aggressive staff when called out on errors. Comments reported to have been made by me and placed in quotation marks are highly inaccurate. No threats were made from my side.... I wanted to give the 'director' option conclude the matter and see how he would handle it. Poorly is my conclusion. I was always intending to leave a review. It's not at all about the £3.40 it's the point and priciple of aggressive and unacceptable behaviour being dismissed and brushed off because of unrelated issues. As I told you previously I had no intention of returning to the venue so your disinvitation is not required.

I've never ate there, but the music selection is a dream. There is abundant diversity - and you can sing I'm sure. Karaoke, soon to attend again. As I need notes off my chest.

Very cool bar full of rock memorabilia! As devotees of hard/alt rock and some metal, we loved this bar and wish we could transport it back to Melbourne, Australia, our home town. Felt very comfortable, it has a very relaxed, chilled vibe. The music is loud enough that you can still chat without having to shout. We would have liked to hear heavier music, we don’t count Fall Out Boy or Green Day as rock, but we still enjoyed listening to it all. Good to hear AC/DC 🤘🏻, how about some Parkway Drive, they’re awesome!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Great rock bar, range of beers, good grub, great tuneage

Been going to Solid for just under 20 years now. Always a great night out. Staff are friendly and professional. Manager is a lovely bloke too. Drinks are reasonably priced. Food is cheap and cheerful. Great music and atmosphere. Hand on heart, I've never had a bad experience here. Only downside is the fact the building is old with ancient plumbing. This can lead to a strong smell at times, but it's unfortunately just a reality of the old-school buildings in Glasgow. This isn't the only bar you'll experience this in. Anyway, if you're looking for a great wee night in a rock/metal/punk bar, this is your place. Oh, and did I mention they gave a pool table?

Early evening meal and, for the second time, got the 2 pizzas fot £15 deal. Really good value for money and quick friendly service. Obviously, the bar comes alive at night but it's just as good for earlier in the day, and the music is always good 🤘🤘

Great rock bar in a handy location for a quick drink after a gig before the last train home. I've been to the Solid a few times now and never had a bad experience, whether on my own or with friends. Worth a visit.

Didn't have food so can't comment on that but as a rockers bar to chill in on a Tuesday is perfect

The food was good. I got Meat Feast Pizza for me and a pal. The staff were helpful and smiling. It is my favourite holiday destination. I have been going to it when I am in Glasgow since the late 80s. I got a couple of tracks played that I liked. If you like Rock, in is the number 1 destination in Glasgow. The toilets were clean. I did not order a famous grouse whisky, as it is not to my palate. The lager tasted great.

Stopped in for a swift pint between train journeys. Great little rock pub and I will be back!

Great rock bar. Not many places like this one in Glasgow. If you like rock music and a great at-mosh-phere then this is the place for you.

Ordered grouse whisky, received something that clearly wasn’t grouse whisky. Was told it “tastes like whisky to me” …. Enough said. Won’t be back.

If you are a rocker and you are in town fur a gig it's the place to go, you'll meet somebody else going to the same gig as you for sure. Get a decent cider on draft please - the ones you have are all too gassy.

Great bar with rock music, good variety of beers, we didn't try the food but it looked good, the music was very varied and of quality.

Always make a stop here when I’m in town since I was 18 and I’m 37 now. Good music and vibe. And the smell had gone which used to be a kind of sewage problem with alot of Glasgow bars, it was totally gone place was spotless and fresh. The drinks can be expensive but most places are these days. I just enjoy the location and vibe of this bar.

Decent spot for beers and grub before or after a gig. Beware of the "last orders" at 12 though. They give you zero time to finish your pint before asking you to leave once it comes 12 midnight.

always pop in to solid if in city which is about every 4 weeks still a great pub after all these years.good music if you like rock that is,dont expect any chart stuff or taylor swift!!!.reasonably cheap for city centre and good place to go pre gig.not sure if they still do but any time went to see band at secc ie rush,they played the bands music most of the day,always a great atmosphere.see few reviews about people not getting in because of dress.never had a problem and ive been in in shorts and trainers.maybe door guy just having a bad night.still a great rock bar and will always visit for a beer

An absolute Glasgow institution. Easily one of the best bars in the city. Good atmosphere and amazing bar food during the day. Then at night it's a lot busier, and a great place to meet likeminded people. One of Scotland's best Rock / Metal bars if you're into that type of music. Even if you aren't, it's still a great place to visit. Staff are always lovely and welcoming and the bar, tables and toilets are always clean. Amazing food and drink options to suit everyone. Please for the love of God never close!

A Glasgow institution! Atmosphere is just amazing here, friendly vibes with lots of metal/rock music. Strike up a conversation with someone at the bar and end up with a friend for life. Good selection of beers/ales and a decent sized Bourbon selection 👌🏼 Staff are friendly and always about so you don't wait long to be served. This gem of a place attracts an eclectic mix of patrons and helps keep it that bit special. Can't wait to go again. Special shout out for the Wednesday quiz night 💪🏼

I've had a pretty good time here for the most part over the years. I did encounter a bouncer a few years back who was very homophobic towards me but I've let that slide since then because it genuinely is a good spot in Glasgow for metalheads.

My favourite pub in Glasgow, not the cheapest but always a great atmosphere. Food menu is reasonably priced with sandwiches coming with soup of the day included.

Came for drinks before a concert and decided to have two pizzas as they were two for £15 and were excellent. Thin crust and very tasty. Highly recommend the New York and Glasgow pizza. Drinks are also reasonably priced for Glasgow central

My favourite place. The only bar I can go to and hear my favourite music as well as sometimes more obscure metal/alternative music too. Staff are all lovely, professional and welcoming. The bar staff do an incredible job keeping up very quick service, even on busy days. Amazing range of draught pints you would struggle to find in most places. Food is delicious too. I've been coming here for 14 years and there's nowhere like it. Thank you Solid. 🖤

I enjoy the solid rock ,good music playing great for a catch up casual lunch , meetball sandwich I had was really nice and enjoyed the fries , service was fine, friendly bar staff. Interesting wall decor to look at too . Good 👍🏻

Has pool, pinball, Drygate beers and Williams Bros beers on tap and an impressivearray of discs and signed stuff. And a Keith Richards bust. But most importantly of all it has Rambo on a keytar being hassled by Freddy Krueger.

It's been a long time since this was my pre-club haunt but when something's this good, why change it. Highly recommended.

Went for a pre-Christmas catch-up with friends & the Solid has been a firm favourite for years. Today it did not let us down! The pizzas are the perfect accompaniment to a pint & the tunes are always excellent - obviously you have to love a bit of rock! If you're not into rock bars that serve crackin grub, this is not the place for you. If, however, you and your pals are sound individuals, you'll love it!

It's really good pub for someone who loves heavy metal music. The vibe and the atmosphere was good but it's not for me . It was too loud and metal music is not my thing. Recommend for heavy metal music lover.

An overpriced bar across from Glasgow Central station.They play decent metal music but it's all black decor inside. It has badly needed a makeover for atleast 10 years. It literally has the atmosphere of a funeral.. The drinks are overpriced and the food is substandard. And they also discrimate about the fabric of your clothes. No football colors or logos Is sensible rule for a bar but refusing someone into a heavy metal bar for wearing all black trousers is a disgrace. Their toilets smell rancid. It's ironic that the toffs who run it, run it like a dump Go to Rufus T's instead up the road. I believe that's ran from the same group but the staff aren't snobs atleast. P.s. in response the scathing response I got from the owner. I think the above made it blatantly obvious that I will not be back!! There are plenty of better bars in Glasgow who dont discrimate against their customers. Your so called "dress code" is nonsense if a customer can't walk into a metal bar wearing a corey taylor shirt with All black trousers. I can now see why the bar is beginning to become run down judging by the response from the owner

I always pop in here for a pint when I’m in the city if on my own or with my mates. It’s just a great wee bar with a nice vibe near the train station. It has a great selection of beers (no Tennent’s - but lots of other options) and the pints are always served well (no slops)- they also serve a great wee vodka. Music is decent rock etc with some cool films showing on the various screens dotted around the bar. It also attracts a pretty decent and eclectic clientele and you always get served promptly but the mega cool and unpretentious bar staff. I wish there were more pubs like this is Glasgow.

Went there with my brother in law and love the place and the vibe!!! Speakers and acoustics are amazing! Perfect sound and you can still have a conversation. Haven’t tried the food but will do that next. Definitely worth coming back..

Great vibe walking in with staff who are accommodating and accepting creating a feeling like you belonged. Loved that it felt community like as well with being part of the alt community. Definitely worth a visit.

Been going to this place for years and have never had any issues. I sometimes like peace and quiet and dont mind going to a pub on my own and this one in particular as its my music taste and the atmosphere is always great. Last time i was in and ordered food. As i have a particular diet it was great that a member of staff pointed out that what i was ordering might not be suitable due to cross contamination and that she and her colleague were very helpful pointing out items on the menu that were suitable. Cant thank them enough staff have always been good and professional but on this occasion it was above and beyond. Seen a lot of negative reviews which for my many and friends experience's are utter nonsense.

Visited with my beloved Ellie for a Wednesday night out. Had a fabulous night with great drinks, great food and lovely friendly staff. As an added bonus they had a fun quiz. The music was great and the place had a friendly rock/metal atmosphere. So nice to be in a pub that wasn't a photocopy of others. I would recommend to any of my friends.

Went to the bar with a few friends just to have a bit too eat and a few drinks went to the bar and they said I can't serve you because one off us had a pair off joggers on . You would think it was the Ritz hotel you ware waking into or a fancy restaurant. It's only basic food and bar nothing all that specia so don't know what all the fuzz is about wareing a pair off joggers and the best about it the bar was empty as well don't think I would be back mind men and ladies where your jeans or a dress or you won't be served or maybe dress as a gougf and they will serve you .

Went for a visit with my professional workers from evening times for a work lunch. And was treated very unprofessional by telling on of my colleagues that one of my staff had unsuitable trousers like joggers on witch was smart designer trousers and tolfd us we codent stay at the pub for lunch witch was very disappointing and very unfairly treatment especially from a manager postion job that's even worse. We will be taking matters futher believe methe matter not forgot un any way.

Booked a table for 6 people for lunch and some drinks- one of the girls was wearing joggers (not exactly gym gear but part of a designer set). The rest were in office wear and smart-casual dress- we’re not exactly thuggish looking. This was at 1:45pm, bar was pretty empty- all refused service due to one person wearing joggers. Lost the custom of 6 people for food and drinks. Bizarre, outdated, not v friendly.
