A Glasgow institution! Atmosphere is just amazing here, friendly vibes with lots of metal/rock music. Strike up a conversation with someone at the bar and end up with a friend for life. Good selection of beers/ales and a decent sized Bourbon selection 👌🏼 Staff are friendly and always about so you don't wait long to be served. This gem of a place attracts an eclectic mix of patrons and helps keep it that bit special. Can't wait to go again. Special shout out for the Wednesday quiz night 💪🏼

My favourite pub in Glasgow, not the cheapest but always a great atmosphere. Food menu is reasonably priced with sandwiches coming with soup of the day included.

My favourite place. The only bar I can go to and hear my favourite music as well as sometimes more obscure metal/alternative music too. Staff are all lovely, professional and welcoming. The bar staff do an incredible job keeping up very quick service, even on busy days. Amazing range of draught pints you would struggle to find in most places. Food is delicious too. I've been coming here for 14 years and there's nowhere like it. Thank you Solid. 🖤

I enjoy the solid rock ,good music playing great for a catch up casual lunch , meetball sandwich I had was really nice and enjoyed the fries , service was fine, friendly bar staff. Interesting wall decor to look at too . Good 👍🏻

Has pool, pinball, Drygate beers and Williams Bros beers on tap and an impressivearray of discs and signed stuff. And a Keith Richards bust. But most importantly of all it has Rambo on a keytar being hassled by Freddy Krueger.

It's really good pub for someone who loves heavy metal music. The vibe and the atmosphere was good but it's not for me . It was too loud and metal music is not my thing. Recommend for heavy metal music lover.

An overpriced bar across from Glasgow Central station.They play decent metal music but it's all black decor inside. It has badly needed a makeover for atleast 10 years. It literally has the atmosphere of a funeral.. The drinks are overpriced and the food is substandard. And they also discrimate about the fabric of your clothes. No football colors or logos Is sensible rule for a bar but refusing someone into a heavy metal bar for wearing all black trousers is a disgrace. Their toilets smell rancid. It's ironic that the toffs who run it, run it like a dump Go to Rufus T's instead up the road. I believe that's ran from the same group but the staff aren't snobs atleast. P.s. in response the scathing response I got from the owner. I think the above made it blatantly obvious that I will not be back!! There are plenty of better bars in Glasgow who dont discrimate against their customers. Your so called "dress code" is nonsense if a customer can't walk into a metal bar wearing a corey taylor shirt with All black trousers. I can now see why the bar is beginning to become run down judging by the response from the owner

I always pop in here for a pint when I’m in the city if on my own or with my mates. It’s just a great wee bar with a nice vibe near the train station. It has a great selection of beers (no Tennent’s - but lots of other options) and the pints are always served well (no slops)- they also serve a great wee vodka. Music is decent rock etc with some cool films showing on the various screens dotted around the bar. It also attracts a pretty decent and eclectic clientele and you always get served promptly but the mega cool and unpretentious bar staff. I wish there were more pubs like this is Glasgow.

Went there with my brother in law and love the place and the vibe!!! Speakers and acoustics are amazing! Perfect sound and you can still have a conversation. Haven’t tried the food but will do that next. Definitely worth coming back..

Visited with my beloved Ellie for a Wednesday night out. Had a fabulous night with great drinks, great food and lovely friendly staff. As an added bonus they had a fun quiz. The music was great and the place had a friendly rock/metal atmosphere. So nice to be in a pub that wasn't a photocopy of others. I would recommend to any of my friends.

Great vibe walking in with staff who are accommodating and accepting creating a feeling like you belonged. Loved that it felt community like as well with being part of the alt community. Definitely worth a visit.

Been going to this place for years and have never had any issues. I sometimes like peace and quiet and dont mind going to a pub on my own and this one in particular as its my music taste and the atmosphere is always great. Last time i was in and ordered food. As i have a particular diet it was great that a member of staff pointed out that what i was ordering might not be suitable due to cross contamination and that she and her colleague were very helpful pointing out items on the menu that were suitable. Cant thank them enough staff have always been good and professional but on this occasion it was above and beyond. Seen a lot of negative reviews which for my many and friends experience's are utter nonsense.

I love this pub. Everyone knows my name and and have made so many nice acquaintances. I enjoy the presence of goughs and feel they add a classy touch to a great rock pub

Went for a visit with my professional workers from evening times for a work lunch. And was treated very unprofessional by telling on of my colleagues that one of my staff had unsuitable trousers like joggers on witch was smart designer trousers and tolfd us we codent stay at the pub for lunch witch was very disappointing and very unfairly treatment especially from a manager postion job that's even worse. We will be taking matters futher believe methe matter not forgot un any way.

Went to the bar with a few friends just to have a bit too eat and a few drinks went to the bar and they said I can't serve you because one off us had a pair off joggers on . You would think it was the Ritz hotel you ware waking into or a fancy restaurant. It's only basic food and bar nothing all that specia so don't know what all the fuzz is about wareing a pair off joggers and the best about it the bar was empty as well don't think I would be back mind men and ladies where your jeans or a dress or you won't be served or maybe dress as a gougf and they will serve you .

Super friendly and helpful staff, a great place to go if your into Rock, Metal and Punk. I’ve eaten here a few times and the food was always good.

Booked a table for 6 people for lunch and some drinks- one of the girls was wearing joggers (not exactly gym gear but part of a designer set). The rest were in office wear and smart-casual dress- we’re not exactly thuggish looking. This was at 1:45pm, bar was pretty empty- all refused service due to one person wearing joggers. Lost the custom of 6 people for food and drinks. Bizarre, outdated, not v friendly.

Drove up for GnR's the day before. Hazily stumbled into this bar for brekkie. Completely bowled over. Ace vibe, ace simple and fair priced breakfast, ace tunes, and seriously the bogs are the finest toilet facilities in any rock establishment ever ha. Can't rave enough about this place, cracking find after our late guns n roses night!

read a few negative reviews of the beloved solid rock bar.been drinking in here,mostly weekends since it open mid 80,s and have never had any problems with dress code or with staff.it is the best rock bar in glasgow,never any trouble and have always found the music to be a good variety.if you want a track played just ask at bar and sure it wont be a problem.stewards/bouncers are not any better or worse than most glasgow bars.it can get very busy when there are gigs on,so get in early for drinks.great pub and a glasgow institution in rock circles...

Went to the solid for a few beers and a pizza before amon amarth gig with a friend . Friendly staff ,decent choice of beers . Pizza was good. Good atmosphere.

Kicked out for venting to two friends, last I checked it was the bar tenders job to pour drinks not get involved with other people affairs.

Amazing place for anyone who's doesn't really enjoy popular music. Staff are really friendly and there's a great verity of drinks available. The atmosphere is almost electric! The decor and collectibles are bith fascinating and awesome. One of my favourite places to go in Glasgow City centre. Also close by to both Central train station and taxi ranks. Only down side is that it's pretty expensive but I feel its worth it.

I met my son and his partner for lunch at the Solid Rock Café today. He was in Scotland for a funeral and I knew that the relaxed and casual atmosphere at this bar would suit him. We were about to order when a member of bar staff came over and said she'd seen my son, who is an adult, come in wearing black pants which looked like jogging bottoms. She said it was their policy not to allow people in wearing jogging pants and threw us out. We were probably the smartest people in the place. This is a rock bar, frequented by rock fans in torn jeans and tatty denims and leathers. I contacted the manager to complain about our treatment and he said this has been their policy for 30 years. Needless to say, although I used to be a regular customer, I will never go back.

Sad to say But very disappointed was a regular 30 years ago for about 15 years. Went in there the first thing was the smell (public toilet that had not been cleaned in weeks ) Sorry to say I Left I had looked forward to the Cajun Chicken but the smell and lack of lights put me and my wife off staying ,good place gone to the dogs sorry have so many good memories there

Great for a few afternoon pints and the pizzas were delicious, I'll be after some chili next time. Staff are brand new, and I think it has the best ladies pub toilets in Glasgow so many cubicles 🤣

Arrived at 5:20pm after having some food to be told we couldn’t get in due to us wearing “trackies” when we aren’t wearing anything along the lines of tracksuits. My boyfriend in a pair of golf trousers and myself in “combats” not branded tracksuits. The bouncer on the door has not once stopped us before entering and believe this is a complete joke as combats are not tracksuits and maybe should get an understanding of fashion before he knocks back old customers.

Purely given a 2 star because the bouncers working New Year Eve rejected a proof of citizenship as ID and this is fully certified by the police! I work for the Scottish Government so I can verify that. Also the bouncers were being discrimminitive towards a disabled lady and even the barstaff werent happy with the bouncers remarks! Please educate your bouncer staff! On a more positive note the bar staff were lovely and well mannered!

Without a doubt the best rock music/metal bar in Glasgow. If you are in town for a gig, or want to be serenaded by Slipknot whilst sipping on a pint - this is the place to go. Almost always busy, friendly crowd and staff. Good selection of house cocktails/mixed drinks and beers including usually a couple of locals on tap as well as the regular stuff. Prices are pretty average for the city centre, the guest taps are probably slightly cheaper than other places similar in the CC. Food is also top notch. Nothing fancy, just well done pub grub. Chicken platters and deals are great value for money and come quickly. There is a dress code, but it's not rocket science - no tracksuits, no joggers, no trainers if memory serves. It is a rock bar, probably sticking out if you are there in your Lacoste finest.

Came from Dublin to see GNR perform and it was sadly cancelled, but god this place made up for it, I've not stopped talking about the place since I came back to Ireland and when GNR reschedule me and the 7 others that travelled with me will be back,awesome music and bar staff, the place was packed but even though people were bumping off me or me off of them everyone was sound about it.. Glasgow what a city

My kinda place for music and food

I met my 20 year old son here for drinks before attending a concert. We walked past the bouncer and ordered two pints of beer at the bar. We were then approached by the manager and asked politely to leave as my body builder son...

So I'll sound like an idiot, but I got literally emotional when I walked in here. I felt so at home! I've never been here before but it's one of my favourite places in Glasgow. Nice big drinks. The audience is relatively the older metal heads. Music was great, I could sing along often. They do have a staircase to hell for the women's toilets though! 🙃 (There is another women's toilet available.) It's creepy but also part of the experience ha ha ha Toilets are plentiful and clean. I haven't tried the food but I'll happily come back for it someday.
