Tried the set menu plus the tartare and some wines by the glass - delicious, amazing value, really attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere. Will be back!

Great local spot with an amazing selection of unique wines. Their £20 half chicken, chips and greens was an absolute winner. The staff really knew their wine list and the menu was easy to understand. Would definitely go back.

Prices are stratospheric for the small amount of decent food that arrives. Be prepared to spend £80 a head or leave hungry. And that is with modest drinking. The tiny Monk fish tail was raw and had to be returned. The rear of the establishment by the kitchen is dingy and unpleasant. This used to be a decent restaurant…

Ruddy bloody good food. It does classic flavours really well, it's kinda how you want most restaurants to be - simple and delicious. It seems that's quite a rare thing, though, so I guess this place is a bit special. Really good natural wine list too if you like some dutty flavours in your glass.

Food was excellent. Tasty and portions were fair. Slightly pricey for the large plates. Service was very pleasant but slow and slightly unapologetic for delays. Varied menu and all dishes consistent. Wine was good and fairly priced.

Always a lovely place for our Monday date night with my husband. The service is great and the wine choice is extensive. They have a lovely terrace, so we can even bring our dog when the weather is good (large dogs like our Lab are not allowed inside). Now, let’s talk about the pièce de résistance – the rotisserie chicken. It’s a dish that transcends the ordinary, with its flavorsome and succulent meat. The jus is a smooth symphony that enhances every bite, creating a harmonious blend with the perfectly cooked fries (there is also a side of a leafy salad for those who want to balance the fries). It’s not just a meal; it’s a perfect dinner.

Normally have the rotisserie chicken here which is always excellent but instead went for a choice of small plates which were all utterly stunning especially the scallops in parsley butter. An amazing wine list and knowledgeable (and friendly) staff make this highly recommended. I scored four stars for ambience as there were only 3 tables occupied at lunch. Criminal!

I was blown away by the food. I tried things I'd never tried before and everything was delicious. I couldn't believe how good the food was. The bread and desserts were also amazing. It's a shame I was not drinking as they also had an extensive natural wine list. I will definitely be back to pair that pork collar with a nice wine 😁

We've been going to Soif for over ten years and think it is by far the best restaurant in the area. We love the food, service and ambience of the restaurant. You can see the care and attention paid to all of these areas, whilst having a wonderful relaxed atmosphere.

Food was tasty but hit and miss on the wine. Were sat at the back near the kitchen and I think you need to change the oil or clean the grills as a very heavy smoke smell - made the ambience unpleasant. Friendly helpful service though. Some dishes better value for money than others.

Came to Soif expecting so much based on the reviews, and being French myself, I wanted to see what the hype was about! I can say I have absolutely no idea what the hype is about 😃 the food was overwhelmingly salty. Also think people should be aware that if you tip, the staff don’t receive it. I tipped a waitress and she told me it goes to the restaurant. The service is not something I would write home about. Each to their own but this was a disappointing experience to say the least.

An absolutely standout restaurant all round. Food was amazing, service was the best, atmosphere was great. The most special thing for me was actually before we arrived. I contacted the restaurant to check on the menu because I’m pregnant and hadn’t told my friends I was meeting yet so wanted to be subtle on the night. Peter from Soif sent me a lovely message back with all the details I needed. He quietly let me know he’d spotted who I was on the night and once I had told my friends he then pointed out anything I couldn’t eat like dips etc as they came to the table just to be sure. Our other server was lovely as well everything we ordered was divine. Couldn’t recommend more. We will absolutely be back!

Soif is a very nice French restaurant providing strong tasting food using great quality ingredients and a blend of innovative & traditional cooking. The atmosphere is lovely with a great staff. Wine selection is nice and diverse.

The food was delicious. We had all the small plates except for the oysters. Each one was excellent. Polished off with the apple tart and calvados cream. Had to restrain ourselves with the cheapest wine but that was delicious too. A real treat.

Chicken Mondays with the tastiest chicken and the best gravy, chips and salad. The Apple Tartin smelt good, but was a bit underwhelming. Especially at £15(!). Fantastic selection of wine and wine by the glass. And a really warm and friendly team who care and know their stuff.

Delightfully unpretentious authentically French bistro with a predisposition for biodiverse wines. Front of house were so friendly. Judging by the way the maitre d’ greeted some guests you could tell there were some frequent flyers attending the joint. Always a good sign. So to the food. Pommes frites were mountainous. Crunchy fluffy potatoes sprinkled with premium flaky sea salt. Perfection. Star of the show was the rotisserie chicken to share. Heavens above this chicken was a thing of wonder and immediately took me back to a street market in Lyon. I’ve not tasted such good leg meat. So tender and full of flavour. And the jus? Like liquid umami. Had a glass of a full bodied red from Piedmont. Imbibed with glee. This place cooks simple classic fair but with love and expertise. I can guarantee I will visit again!!

Unbelievable experience- I thought I was back in France in my neighbourhood restaurant - the service was exceptional with friendly, attentive staff, the food was succulent and full of flavours (best tapenade I ever had), the natural wine was a new discovery. I will come back often. What a gem!

Staff were welcoming. Austere decor with exceedingly small tables and small wooden chairs. Fairly limited menu. We were provided with 2 different menus one was previous week’s. No real atmosphere probably due to lack of customers. Opted for the charcuterie selection following by large plates of monkfish tail and calves tongue and a selection of cheese. The tongue was very good. The charcuterie was ok and plenty of it. The duck rillettes lacked the flavour of duck but was tasty. The salami was very mild. The wine list was fairly extensive but was quite expensive. Described in Michelin guide as a busy neighbourhood bistro. Ordered coffee to finish. Supplied with one small jug of milk for two cups. Asked for extra milk and when the bill came discovered we had be charged extra for the second jug of milk which on a £165 bill seems surprising! First time we have ever been charged for extra milk.

The Chicken Mondays are great, with some lovely discounts on the wine list too. The vegetarian option on the menu was an excellent alternative to the chicken at the same price point. The tarte tatin is worth the wait and is a must. Cosy atmosphere, lovely staff and a great spot!

Service and wine always great and usually good but last jight just wasn’t right. Too much Parmesan. Nothing interesting with vegetables everything hidden by sauce and Parmesan disappointed. Dessert and bread great

Celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Soif and trusted the reviews when we booked because we’ve never been before. It did NOT disappoint!! We went on Monday and that’s when they have their Chicken Mondays (and wine bottles at takeaway prices) so ofc we had the 1/2 chicken, fries and bitter leaves. Also ordered the fried artichoke with goat’s curd and cavolo Nero baro (tasted like risotto) - everything was sooo good 🤍 well seasoned, great textures and great flavours. Chicken was succulent and honestly couldn’t have asked for more. We also got the apple tart and it was probably the best tart I’ve ever had! Service was also friendly and the manager helped us pick our wine with such patience and care. Will definitely be coming back in the near future. For a Monday night it was also buzzing so you can tell it’s a neighbourhood fav. Thank you Soif for such a wonderful evening - never change ☺️

Local neighbourhood gem!! Visited on a Monday night for the rotisserie chicken. Did not disappoint! The Jerusalem artichokes were also delicious

Came here to meet old friends - the venue had been chosen by one of them. I found it quite pricey but the lunch special was reasonable. However the steak and its sauce/gravy was on the cool side when it arrived. Service was excellent.

Nice atmosphere, good buzz however staff & kitchen seemed over stretched. Took an hour to order food and got apologies about the delay of it coming out. A couple of misfires, the crab dish was revised and had no flavour, otherwise the food was ok, but wouldn’t be rushing back. Jerusalem artichoke dish was excellent, buratta a crowd pleaser and the octopus was very well cooked. Best but was the buzz, great atmosphere in the place.

I have just enjoyed a superb lunch at Soif. BBQ Red mullet on a bd of tomato & delicate salad leaves with a Cabernet Sauvignon vinaigrette. The mullet was topped with finely chopped parsley and garlic. To accompany the dish were the best home made chips I have tasted in a long time. Well done chefs, but also thanks to Peter and the front of house team.

Wonderful evening, friendly knowledgeable staff, happy to let you try different wines and accept your view and keep on trying new ones until you find the right one. Food was superb and a great local friendly vibe.

Had such a great evening! The som Peter was lovely. The food was excellent especially the onion and fermented lentils main dish was excellent, who knew an onion could taste so meaty with such a depth of flavour. The wine list is also great, so many delicious wines were drank! Will definitely be back

I had lunch here with a friend yesterday. What a fantastic place! The service provided by extremely kind and knowledgeable staff was excellent. The wine list is vast and super good quality. The food menu is of ample size but not too much, and the dishes we ate were delicious. Great vibe going on too! Thanks to the whole team here who really do know what they are doing. I can't wait to return, even if it's just to drink some more of the fantastic wines.

In the rush of the new and the hot, it is important to support some consistently great restaurants that have been around a long while and are still performing as well as ever. Soif is that, always lovely, satisfying, delicious food, great natural wine selection and great service. Prices creep up and up but no more than anywhere else. Definitely worth a new or return visit.

This was my first visit to Soif and I was very impressed by the quality of the food, and the care and consideration that had obviously been taken in selecting the natural and biodyanmic wine list. We really enjoyed our sharing plate of Jerusalem artichoke and Goats Curd, followed by the two-course set menu which was generous in portion size, extremely tasty and very reasonably priced. I asked for a recommendation for a wine to accompany the desserts and was given some very interesting and unusual options. I went for the Austrian Blaufrankisch which did not disappoint. If you are looking for a neighbourhood French bistro, with excellent food and an interesting wine list, I would not hesitate to recommend.

Over the years we loved Soif but yesterday's lunch was not so good. It was empty when we arrived apert from staff and visiting friends who were quite noisy. We had difficulty getting served despite being empty which was a shame. I hope they get their act together as it used to be such a good French restaurant

Excellent restaurant. We ordered small plates and they were all really good especially the onion soup (unexpected!).It’s very popular and needs reservation. Food in London is getting worse (and more expensive!) especially post Covid. It’s rare to find good restaurants. I’ll be returning to Soif hungry for more.

An absolute gem of a french restaurant. The food was superb. The onion soup was absolutely delicious. The steak tartare was excellent as was the cod roe. The apple tart was sublime. A beautiful, light, chou tart with apples and liquor cream.

Food was excellent but red wine was chilled and there was no red wine available at room temperature to begin with. Very strange for a restaurant that is very much about the wine!

Brilliant low lit atmosphere, excellent attentive service, lovely food and wine. The small bite section a bit adventurous for us but loved the bread and main bites. The desserts were slightly underwhelming though.
