This is relating to a visit to Stockbridge and Quarter Mile locations. I used to think of this cafe as one the best in Edinburgh for both coffee and snacks. How time seems to have changed. In Stockbridge, I bought a pastrami, gruyere cheese and gherkin sandwich. The problem was, the cheese wasn't gruyere instead it tasted like a cheap and tasteless cheddar or something similar. There was also just one measly slice of gherkin. Not acceptable for the price. Then on visiting Quarter Mile, I purchased an old favourite of mine (vanilla custard and blueberry bun) This was almost entirely lacking in the vanilla and blueberry filling, which it once had at a generous level. It is a fairly pricey cafe but until now I had been prepared to accept this - but given the poor quality lately I might not be prepared to give them another chance. It would be nice if someone from the business could reply to this message.

More on Insta @coffeescakesandcafes. I enjoyed a wee cuppa coffee & a DELICIOUS bun, not the largest sized cup but still a tasty roast. With products baked in Edinburgh, this Swedish cafe is a wonderful example of a small independent business thriving here in the city. The perfect setting for a wee read of one of my favourite books.

As a Scandinavian, I am of course biased to review a Swedish bakery - it's the only place where I can get both a Kanelbulle and a decent loaf of dark Danish rye bread.Anyway, let's take some distance and review it without bias. Söderberg surfs on the wave of fashionable Scandi cafes and is not original in that category, at all. The decor is non-existing - basically it consists of wooded tables & chairs. However is has a welcoming bakery mood.Their coffee is pretty good though not local roast (Swedish, instead), but their bulles are just as they should be, and the bread selection very nice. Extra mention for the mazarins.

Today we decided to go for a stroll down to Stockbridge and passed the cafe. It looked like a great place to go from the outside so we popped in for a loaf of bread. As we walked straight to the till (as there were no other customers) the 3 members of staff (who clearly ignored us) carried on their conversation until 1 of the members of staff eventually broke away from the group and approached the till area. She did not make eye contact, greet us or even ask what we wanted. We asked for a loaf of bread that was on the shelf behind her. No eye contact, no answer, she grabbed the loaf, shoved it in a bag, practically threw bag at us. Didn't even tell us how much it was. Stood with her open hand out and waited for us to pay. £4.30 it cost for the loaf, we handed her a £5 note, she threw the change at us without even looking at us and proceeded to walk away. Absolutely no effort to acknowledge that we are paying customers at all. Really disappointed in the lack of customer service, especially considering all the bad reviews online you would imagine they would of made more of an effort. So after bad customer service and coming home quite deflated we cut into the bread that was as if it had been sat on the shelf for a few days. Will not be going back again.

Stopped here for refreshments late Saturday afternoon so it was not too busy. The interior cafe is small, most people come for their bread at the bakery I suppose. Sadly the people serving have no inter personal skills - never speak, smile, and really rather depressing. The sooner the owners get them all on a course for Customer Service the better - and understand I am a customer. With that bit attended to it is easy to get a 5 star rating!

We popped in for a takeaway coffee on a Saturday morning in December. We ordered a flat white and a cappuccino. The staff were very flustered and quite off-ish which was strange as it wasn't that busy and there wasn't a queue. We felt that they maybe needed more training? Anyway, we waited about fifteen minutes for the takeaway coffees and when we got them they were tiny! So it turned out to be quite an expensive coffee :) when I asked the man behind the counter if there was any sugar he said to wait and that he'd get it and within two minutes he'd completely forgotten. It all seemed a bit disorganised. Hopefully they were all just having a bad day, but unfortunately we won't be returning.

We popped in on a recent visit to Edinburgh, as we were staying in the area and I had read good reviews about the cinnamon rolls. Having recently returned from Oslo where we regularly regularly ate kanelboller we were disappointed at firstly the size - small for the price of £2.90 to take away (a considerable amount more to eat in) - and secondly by the taste and texture. I had a custard and raspberry (I think) but it was bland & gelatinous. My daughter chose a chocolate roll - which turned out to be coffee flavoured and therefore uneaten. Unfortunately our experience paled in comparison to the real thing & the lady who served us seemed very impatient - maybe she was having a bad day!

So disappointed with our experience at Peters Yard. Stopped in for ice cream and waited 20mins in the queue. You have to queue to pay at the till then queue again to place your order (after youve already paid?!). We didn't realise you had to pay first and when I realised I asked the staff member behind the till and was rudely told by a sarcastic by member of staff "there's a sign" And waved the sign in our face. This is a small Swedish cafe in busy Stockbridge. It is competing in a crowded market but does so rather well. What is on offer is quite different from other outlets nearby and the food is good and reasonably priced. Interesting pastries, cakes and scones to try if you are in for coffee, a range of speciality teas and unusual soft drinks are also on offer. We wanted a light lunch and opted for Moroccan chicken soup with bread and butter. The portions were large and very tasty. We are looking forward to going back to try other things on the menu. They have opted to make use of the small space they have with 3 large communal tables. I think each seats 8. There are a few smaller tables too but chances are you may be dining with someone you don't know. Not necessarily a bad thing but my teenage daughter would not countenance it under any circumstances!

Great baked goods. The food is great, even though the seating area is a bit dinghy. Recommedn the cardamon bun!

I have only been to Peter's Yard for coffee so I can only comment on that (though I can say the food on display in the cabinets all looks lovely). Working nearby, I find that the only coffee places open early enough to pop into before work are the big chains, which I'm not a fan of. Peter's Yard gets points for being open at 8am, which leaves me just enough time to get to work.

This was a place I used to love - especially for the evening pizzas, which were delicious, and the friendly staff. Things seem to be slipping badly - the staff are abrupt and surly and the pizzas have become sloppy. The wonderful accompanying salad has vanished. All the attention to detail has gone - you might as well go to pizza express next door! What's more the toilet had been allowed to run out of toilet paper. Sad to see such a fine place cut comers and lose it's individuality...

This was my first time in peters yard, and was impressed overall. Well worth a visit and a sample of the bread and buns. Very cool place to meet friends

Had lunch today here and the food was amazing and staff were so friendly. We had the croque madam, French toast and eggs royale - couldn’t fault any of it. Good atmosphere aswell. I’ll be back !!

Popped in for a coffee with my wife. The service and atmosphere was amazing. The two girls serving were a delight and their names are Julia and Stella. Plus the coffee was excellent.

Steht nirgends. Also am Tresen bestellt. Es dauerte 50 Minuten für "fast food". Alles etwas klebrig, keiner hat gefragt, ob man noch etwas trinken möchte. Fish u Chips waren naja, Burger war ok. Insgesamt so gar nicht unser Ding.
