From the outside this little cafe didn't look like much, but I'm so glad I had brunch here. There is limited seating, but if you're lucky enough to get a seat you won't be disappointed. The coffee was very good, and the food even better. We had pancakes, bacon bagel, and salmon bagel. All lovingly prepared and tasted fantastic. The staff are really friendly as well

Felt like we were an inconvenience being there, poor service. Card machine was not working when we wanted to pay so he told us rudely to go to a cash point, like it was our own fault and didn’t apologise for their own inconvenience. When we returned with the cash to pay, he was not even grateful for us going I get cash and didn’t even acknowledge us. It is a shame because I enjoy the food, hot drinks but because the staff are so rude I won’t be going back there again.

I have visited Social Eats quite a few times and have mixed opinions unfortunately. The coffee is generally great in terms of taste but there is no continuity in the sizing: my friend ordered an iced latte to take away and I ordered one to sit in, and somehow mine was 1/3 of the size for the same price. When I visited recently, it was quite quiet but it took the staff 10-15 minutes to clear a few very messy tables. There was also crumbs and food all over the floor underneath the tables which was never cleared. The owners of the place are also very rude and seem to use the café as their personal playground in a sense: every time I have visited they are having meetings, calls or personal conversations very loudly which is particularly disruptive. There seems to be no professionalism in terms of running a business, and they often act as if you are an inconvenience to them. The other staff are also hit and miss (Rob is amazing!) - I have visited a few times and some staff were wearing inappropriate clothing for work and looked like they had rolled out of bed. I really want to like this café as the location, food and coffee is brilliant but the atmosphere and lack of continuity lets it down.

I have heard a lot about Social Eats, so decided to give it a go. Wow, was very impressed, This is a little gem, had avocado and poached eggs on toast, presentation was fantastic great service, the food was incredible, friendly chatty staff, the coffee was amazing, had the latte, seriously give this place a go, I will definitely be returning, don’t walk past without calling in.

Came here on recommendation from the hotel we were staying at as an amazing place for foodies… and it did not disappoint. The coffee was fantastic. My V60 was outstanding and my husband had a oat milk mocha. Love that they even do beautiful latte art. We were looking for healthy fresh food, with gluten free options. Oh wow… this place was perfect. Both had Buddha bowls, and then cakes. The GF coffee cake was delicious and they had another Vegan GF chocolate chip slice as well. Loads of options for meat eaters,veggies, vegan, gluten free. Staff were super hospitable and really lovely to chat with, you especially the Manager. Recommend this place to everyone. You will wish they were YOUR local coffee shop and eatery!

First visit back in June 2021, ( my son said that anew place had opened up serving good food). Had the Wild Mushrooms on sourdough with artichokes and pine nuts for breakfast - tasted fantastic, full of flavour, well proportioned and great value. Also had a flat white & oat milk which was also fantastic. I thanked my son and also commented to my wife about this new fantastic cafe. Back in Cardiff and suggested to my family that we go to 'Social Eats' for breakfast. A bit apprehensive as it was a short wolf from our hotel, would they enjoy it? would the food be good second time? Arrived and sat outside whilst we ordered coffees & juices and looked at the menus. Ordered a vegan breakfast, Eggs Royale and the waffles stack with fruits and maple syrup. Food arrived, very well presented and generous proportions ( plenty of smoked salmon with the eggs royale ). Tasted absolutely fantastic. Again, very impressed with the whole experience, as was my family, constantly commenting whilst eating how amazing the food was along with the coffee etc. This place is amazing, the food is amazing, the coffees are fantastic, the staff are kind & friendly paying great attention to detail - even the S/E imprint in the crockery. Me and my girlfriend had an amazing time doing the Barista class. Rob was incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful and friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking for an interesting date night!

My friend and I attended The Social Eats Barista course. It was just brilliant, Rob was so knowledgable, patient and skilled at what he does. It was so good to practice on such a beautiful piece of kit that was their coffee machine. We had so many tries at perfecting latte art, and every time we were given constant feedback and tips. Rob’s knowledge about his subject was vast and no question was ever too much. Rob knew how to Taylor skills on professional coffee machines to the one that I have at home. I now know lots more about coffee, realised my nose works (you only know if you know), and have been given the skills to further my home coffee fun! Thank you Rob, we will be back, but will let you make us a coffee with some funky latte art! Thank you Amy

This was my third visit to Social Eats since April, which at a 90 minute round trip for me you could say is worth travelling for. This time I travelled for a barista class. I’m new to the coffee world and it was a pleasure to work with Rob the head barista. He was a lovely guy with great knowledge of coffee and roasting. His latte art is unbelievable too. It was my first experience at anything like this so I was nervous but quickly those nerves went away after Rob explained the session to me and put me at ease. A power point was used with interesting facts and information about coffee. You could see Rob had a wealth of knowledge and would go into as much detail as you liked without it being too intimidating. After a short while at the power point it was time to get behind the machine, La Marzocco KB90. All in black and the only one in Wales. It screams awesome. Again Rob run through every detail and showed me how to pull a shot talking me through the process as he’s doing it. Seriously high end machine and he explained where things were, what things are and the digits on the screen. It was a pleasure to use and a pleasure to be shown by Robs capable hands. I was then shown some latte art which for me I wanted to get better at. I quickly learned I’ve been steaming wrong. After a few goes I manage to do a heart shape I was happy with nice size and central. It’s not as easy as Rob makes it. We also did some tasting, pulled an early shot, a good shot and a late shot and explained the differences in taste to me ranging for watery and weak to strong sour and bitter. Also challenged my nose with a blind smelling task which was good fun. I really enjoyed my 2 hour session. If anyone is starting out in coffee or wants some better understanding of it. I throughly recommend a barista class at Social Eats.

Hello I love the food and coming to the cafe however the past few times we have been we have been given the wrong food and only realised when home. Also as regular customers we rarely see staff wearing masks correctly if at all and this is very worrying and gives an impression that you do not put customers first. As we would love to continue coming as it is close by and we love the food, coffee and student discount we would appreciate masks to be worn and the correct order, we understand that it is a new business and you’re new to this but please take this review into consideration.

My friend and myself had coffee and the chicken bagel for lunch here on Saturday both of which hit the spot and were delicious but. I must say we had to restrain ourselves from buying all the delicious looking cakes and sweet treats on offer. I'll definitely be back on an empty stomach for them!

We stopped in for take out food and coffee and I was so impressed with both. Food was beautifully presented, ridiculously tasty and came out faster than I expected and the coffee was amazing. The staff were also super helpful and friendly and even gave my puppy a home made dog biscuit! Definitely worth a visit

What a beautiful coffee shop. All the staff are incredible. A large menu of breakfast items and lunch options with many options of coffee to choose from. The iced coffee is my favourite! Dog friendly too!!! Can’t wait to go back
