Sobremesa in Newcastle upon Tyne

10/10. Six of us went to visit on October 28th and it was fantastic. They had warned us the space itself is small but we loved it. It was cosy and intimate and perfect for what we were looking for. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious! Recommendations for wine were given and we just had an absolutely wonderful time. Can’t find a single fault! (The cheese with the truffle in was just divine!). We will 100% be returning in the future!

A 5/5 does not even come close to the rating that I would give this place. The food was a next level of incredible and the service was even better (if that is possible). Recommendations on everything was absolutely stunning and I would go and purely let the staff choose food for us. A reasonable price, a brilliant service, above excellent food, delicious wine and a must visit in Heaton.

Honestly one of the best dining experiences of our lives. Staff are fantastic and the recommendations we received were phenomenal and well priced. We’ve had the most wonderful evening.

Really great selection of tapas and wines, with two charming and attentive owners! Decent selection of wines, including an Argentine chardonnay with a really interesting background.

Suzanne is such a lovely owner. We were booked as a table for 4 - our friends had a dinner reservation so we opted to stay after our wine (Rioja crianza was outstanding) and what a great decision that was. Such a generous shared plater with quality ingredients. The cheese really was the star for me - truffle / smoked / rosemary crusted and my absolute longstanding fav was available too - blue goats cheese with honey) paired with succulent charcuterie and a tasty tomato and almond paste. This place is like a little bit of Barça/Madrid magic in Heaton. Sadly we aren't local so we'll have to wait a while for another visit!

On our holliday to Newcastle in this christmas we stumbled across this little jewell of a winebar with a very cosy atmosphere and an excellent selection of white- and redwine. The hosts are very friendly and seems to know a lot about the wines. On top of it they serve delicious tapas. Muy best recommandations to Sobremesa. Cheers.

I’ve visited Sobremesa on many occasions, it’s the perfect place for a glass of wine and Spanish food! We also recently hosted our staff Christmas party here, we had the venue private hire and Carsten and Suzanne were amazing! They had a wine tasting prepared for us that was perfectly matched with pinxtos, tapas and cheese and meats boards! Can’t wait to return!

What a great time! The food and wine are spectacularly delicious (and of seriously high quality) and the atmosphere was bang-on, described as really relaxed, cool and fun by my friends and family who called to say how much they'd enjoyed the night. Cheers to the lovely proprietors who made sure we had a brilliant night.

It was wonderful to see that this little place opened again this week. It has a great atmosphere. The food is really tasty - it has a small menu of delicious things. So pleased to see it operating again and looking forward to more wonderful Croquetas de Jambon in the future.

This place is a gem. Tapas in the traditional Spanish sense - ham, cheese, bread, croquettes. Not your beef cheeks, prawns etc. that every other 'tapas' bar seems to offer. Really cosy atmosphere - we were literally transported to Spain for the evening! All of the food was superb, especially the goats cheese but couldn't fault any of it. Just sampled one bottle of red wine, but am sure the rest were of equal quality. Just one thing to bear in mind we weren't told the booking was only for an hour so had to rush at the end as the next group had arrived - you're there for a good time not a long time! But that's a good sign we wanted to stay longer and will definitely return. Possibly my favourite tapas experience outside of Spain

We were intrigued when this little place was being built and couldn’t imagine that it could do very much. We’ve now been a couple of times and are really impressed with it. It has a great atmosphere which tumbled out onto Chillingham Road which is fast becoming a vibrant cafe culture packed with interesting, high quality coffee laces to eat and socialise. Fabulous tasty morsels such as the ham croquettes are combined with the best cured ham and cheeses. It really is just like being in Spain. The wine is excellent and the staff are attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. They are passionate about food and the eating experience. Sobremesa is well worth a visit - a perfectly formed and very welcome addition to Heaton.
