Definitely worth five stars just remember that this is a cafe and it has the atmosphere of a cafe not a restaurant. Very friendly service, great selection of tapas and good wine.

Tasty Spainish food defenatly give it a try,, various Tapas, but paella is the only main dish

Great food, if there is a few of you, might be a good idea keeping the menus, the waiters don’t remember who ordered what and the names of dishes are not self explanatory if you don’t speak Spanish.

Delicious food, great wine, attentive staff, and a lovely atmosphere. What more can I say?! Good place for a pre-theatre meal due to its proximity to the Theatre Royal. Definitely recommend 👌

The food was amazing , the staff very attentive and polite, helpful, we had a lovely time till it came to the manager I believe called Alexandra who when she came over to ask if we were ready to pay by card, we had been chatting hadn’t looked at the bill and wasn’t ready. We had only been at the table for 1 & half hours ,so wasn’t like we were over the time for the table. She came over twice but her attitude was disgusting for a manager and rolled her eyes and stormed off both times.. very rude lady, if you don’t like your job find another one which doesn’t involve dealing with the public.. everything was great except this young lady’s attitude. Incredibly unpleasant meal rammed in like sardines next to a family whose toddler was climbing on the seat, screaming, playing with his cars on the table the list goes on. We would have requested to move had this said family not of been finishing their desserts as we arrived however they stuck around downing multiple pints whilst failing to keep control of their child. I think considering this place had a service charge, the staff have a responsibility when diners are behaving inappropriately to step in. We made a hasty exit as soon as we had paid. Avoid and go to McDonald’s instead for a more pleasant atmosphere(!)

Came here 23/3/24 with a couple of friends. Have been up all night with classic food poisoning. For this reason I cannot recommend.

Lovely setting. Service was poor, waiters were dropping plates & cutlery instead of placing them. Waiters stretched across in front of us to get side cutlery, no excuse me. 7 of us visited, pizza was stodgy, pasta wasn't seasoned. Waited 45 minutes for 2 starters. Desert was overrated, two strawberries cut up put on skewer with shop bought marshmallows, a tiny portion of ice cream & chocolate sauce. Cost of pizza was reimbursed. No interest in revisiting.

This place is amazing. First time if visiting as a mother's day treat from my daughter and I will definitely be back. Food was amazing and we were so full. Sangria pitcher, I closed my eyes and it was just like being abroad! Fab!!

Everything and everyone was lovely. Music a little too loud. That's tge only criticism.

The food here is tremendous and reasonably priced. We always dine here when we are out for a meal in Newcastle. The prawns in a garlic sauce is my favourite when we are in Spain but Cafe Andaluz takes some beating. The Staff here are both friendly and welcoming Watch out for the special deals which you can book in advance The latest was 5 tapas, 2 desserts, bread and wine for £39.

The restaurant was very busy so quite noisy. The food was ok, but I think quite expensive. Service was OK, however the waitress constantly returned to our table asking if everything was OK and generally hovering around which was a bit irritating.

Very authentic, great tapas, good service.

I've been here many times and my all-time favourite restaurant. Superb food and lovely friendly staff. Tagine of lamb is amazing. Also Gambas pil pil, fresh cod, baked aubergine, grilled round of goats cheese and many others on the menu. Delicious.

We were booked to attend on valentines day, knowing we were running a little late I phoned ahead to check this was ok 'Yes, we need the table back by 7.45 is that ok' this worked for us as we wanted a quick turnaround due to other commitments. We arrived around 15 to 20 mins after our booked time, and were greeting with the rudest manager/deputy in the world – she bluntly said 'our table had gone' already and they wouldn't possibly hold it… such poor service! She suggested it was a head office error (sounded like a busy restaurant when I called) I'd advise anyone to reconsider if thinking about visiting this place. I'm still waiting for my deposit back!

There's good vegan options and great service. Some of the staff were so nice and very attentive. It's quite loud and as a group of 6, we really struggled to hear each other - kind of had a busy pub atmosphere feel to it. The food is alright with some interesting ideas but I felt like some dishes could have had more flavour and the price was a little on the higher end. It seemed like the rest of my party really enjoyed the food though and my partner loved the mussells.

Definitely setting the standards for tapas in Newcastle and perhaps rest of the UK. No complaints about anything. Great food and reasonable priced considering it's at a prime location in town.

Came for lunch, and ordered the three tapas lunch deal for 17.95. Good value for money. The pork skewers, chorizo with black pudding and artichoke and asparagus salad were the best in my opinion. The meatballs were nice, but I could have done without them. The gambas picantes were also okay, but I’d try a different fish option next time. Enough food to fill you up but not feeling too full. Lots of gluten free options too.

Schönes Restaurant mit spanischen Ambiente in Newcastle mit großer Auswahl an Weinen und Tapas. Leider waren die Tapas nur optisch schön aber geschmacklich enttäuschend. Es fehlte der Pepp. Dem Ajoli fehlte es an Knoblauch und Salz und auch die Patatas brava und den Albondigas fehlte irgendwie die typischen Würze und Aromen. Das Brot musste man extra bestellen und war schon trocken. Ich tippe das stand schon ein paar Stunden aufgeschnitten da. Und zu guter letzt hat man auf der Rechnung auch gleich 10% Trinkgeld autmatisch mit drauf. Schade, den das kann das schönste Ambiente nicht mehr wettmachen

Spanish tapas, good deals/good value for money, good quantity dishes, fresh and high quality food, large variety of options, choices for all dietary requirements, quick service, friendly staff, aesthetic venue and calm atmosphere, but inconvenient bathroom location.

By far the best tapas I've had in the U.K. definitely worth a visit. Whilst it can be pricey, we always take advantage of the restaurant week offer when it's on which is very good value for money. Either way, it's definitely worth a visit if you enjoy Spanish cuisine.

we got the sunday meal deal for 2 and the plates were more than enough for two people We enjoyed the desserts (churros & crème brûlée) so good 10/10

Attended during restaurant week. I have never been before and our table was booked for after 8. We arrived a bit early but they were more than happy to accommodate us to sit at our table. The food choice was brilliant for restaurant week as you got 3 tapas and dessert for £20. The food was lovely but some elements were a little cold. I had the cheese and prosciutto croquettes and Inside they weren't very warm. However they were still tasty and the portion sizes are great. Service was slightly let down here as they were slow and you could tell there weren't enough staff for how busy the restaurant was. We ordered bread once our meal came as we realised it was needed and it just took too long to come. Ordering drinks and getting your drinks was also as slow and clearing the table room forever. We were there for over 2 hours. The dessert did not resemble a brownie in any shape or form. It was definitely a cake. A lovely experience and I'm sure it's better outside of restaurant week. I would definitely return !

Bustling places to be eat with great food , good portions and friendly staff

Just returned from a group brunch here. Lovely coffee and I had the avocado on sourdough with poached egg. Marked one star down on the food as though my eggs were cooked to perfection they were cold. However service was excellent with super friendly staff who made us all feel welcome. Will definitely be back to try the full tapas menu.

1st time we went the food was spectacular but food came massively wrong, we ate it anyway instead of wasting it. This time for restaurant week the food was bland and the staff were so busy I only got one drink. I won't go for restaurant week again but would go back

Outstanding evening and brilliant, on the ball staff. I have lived in Spain so had my reservations about the food. However, It was absolutely delicious. Alexandra served us and was extremely professional and courteous. Happily left a tip and will repeat whenever I am back in the North East. A true gem of a place.

Amazing! Great food, great staff, great atmosphere!!

The food is okay but not really authentic. I found the food to be over oily. The paella tapas is the only one I liked, the pulpo a la gallega was mainly potatoes and hardly any pulpo and at almost £9 for a tapa expected better. When we arrived the waiter wanted to sit us in a tight corner which was very busy and noisy. When we asked to sit at a more quiet area he tutted at us and didnt look happy. He the proceeded to sit us around the corner only to realise he had sat us where all the dirty dishes go to so all we could hear was someone clattering the dishes all of the time. The waiter who actually took our order was a different waiter and was the complete opposite being friendly and helpful. This is our 3rd time visiting this restaurant and to be honest it will be our last which is a shame as it could be a lot better.

Absolutely love this place, beautiful interior and food never disappoints. Went for breakfast this time and it was up there with the best.

Great place for a meal for 2, lovely atmosphere that makes you feel like you're abroad and not in the cold North East. The food was very quick to arrive considering how busy it was. we ordered 6 small plates and they were all delicious. Will be back!

We had a great experience at Cafe Andaluz and we will definitely be returning. Food and wine were delicious and the atmosphere was really positive. Lidia was looking after us and she was fabulous, very professional, welcoming, kind, caring, bubbly, happy, patient and very knowledgeable with regards to the menu and wine lists. All of the staff were great and professional but Lidia really was wonderful, she is an asset to your team. Thank you for such a fab experience 🥰

Delicate taste of espanol awaiting you at this tapas venue. Creative cooking and although prices high, you're paying for quality. Recommended ..would go back again. Best for small groups 👌

Fab food as always. Great location and very comfy cosy surroundings. One star off for service because we tried to get someone's attention for the bill for a while. Eventually waitress (looked like possibly a manager) caught my eye and before I got a word out she snapped 'just a minute" then carried on seating another party before walked away. Bit rude. Atmosphere a three just because the tables were too close together we were almost shoulder to shoulder with the next couple over and twice tables around us were pushed closer to us to accommodate other parties. There was also a really strong smell of some kind of cleaning solution that kept wafting past. Bit off putting.

Tried to get a table for myself and my elderly grandma. There were lots of empty tables and we were told that we could only use the bar which would have been unsuitable for my grandma. The lady seemed stressed and unwelcoming.

Fabulous food and very attentive staff.

If you are vegan best not go here for food, went for staff Xmas lunch only 2 options and both cold dishes, had to ask for chips so at least had something warm, its so easy to make vegetable dishes, very disappointed, staff didn't seem to be bothered 😕

Fantastic local chain the North East and Scotland. Stumbled upon it by mistake but sure glad I did. Friendly, swift service. Fantastic choice of veg, meat and fish tapas dishes. Food was delicious and just the right amount. I’ll certainly be coming back.

Dine here on a regular basis. It is genuinely one of the most authentic Tapas restaurants I have been to in the UK. I’m often travelling to Malaga, and a lot of the dishes taste almost identical. Staff are so lovely and overall every time I go, I have a fantastic experience. It’s worth every penny.

Visited yesterday lunchtime Given a table in top room next to toilets, the only atmosphere was a very strong smell of raw sewage Brusque lady on front house said out of her controll and no other seats available, even though top room only had 1 other table occupied. Appreciate might have been booked out on line, but would have preferred to have been told at front desk rather than experiencing obvious toilet malfunction.

We come here regularly as our go-to tapas restaurant. The staff always look after us so well and the food is superb.

Had 3 tapas for lunch, really good price for food and quality. My personal favourite were the paella tapa, and for dessert the crema catalana is always a must The place is really clean and the service is really welcoming, one of my favourite places in Newcastle

Great service from the waiting staff and food came out really quickly which was appreciated as we were going to the theatre. Prices very reasonable and portion sizes good. I do think there are slightly better tapas restaurants around so I'd probably only revisit if I had another trip to the theatre and wanted to be close by. It was still good food (for the most part) so definitely recommend but not every dish was a star. Cocktails were really good!

We were a large group and had a lovely time here . The tapas were tasty and there was a nice variety . I especially enjoyed the prawns “rebozadas” .The service was excellent . We were a bit disappointed that two out of three of the dessert wines were unavailable . Would definitely revisit . Just visited again and it has definitely found its feet and gets a 5 star now !

Brilliant food, great service, lively atmosphere.

First time at Cafe Andaluz...what a super place. All the food was delicious and good portion sizes for tapas. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The whole place was immaculate including the toilets. We'll be back.

Sensational tapas at Cafe Andaluz, the red wine chorizo is my personal favourite! Staff are friendly but can be easy to rack up the bill as there’s so much to choose from so be wary!

We were just passing in the evening, stopped for a coffee, ended up having a glass of wine and dessert. From start to finish, friendly and welcoming, the staff were great, atmosphere nice and buzzy without being too loud, and our food and drinks were swift to arrive and excellent. Will be back.

Easily one of the top restaurants in town. Great service, fantastic flavour (check out the champiñones gratinados!), portion size is ok - order 2 Tapas per person. Busy and loud as a Spanish restaurant should be 🤣 love it.

I love this place the food is incredible.

The food and service were fantastic . My only complaint was that as it was so busy, it was noisy with people chatting ( not the complaint). Please switch the background music off. You can't hear it properly anyway, and it just makes the general noise louder .
