Best food in town, don't miss it !!

Cacophonous row in every inch meaning you have to shout at each other, stale starter bread (asking for a replacement just got us a funny look), the waiter seemed in the middle of a good book and was bored and unattentive. The food was OK, not good, just passable, with some being so uninspired a child could have done it. A dull and disappointing experience.

Food was overall good. Portion is just enough for one person. The ambience of the place is really relaxing just a place if you're looking to step out after a hectic day. The staff are very warm and helpful.

Great food, and really vibrant atmosphere. The lamb tagine is particularly good. So nice to be able to order several tapas plates and share them. Exactly what we wanted. Desserts were lovely too! (We had the raspberry sorbet and the cheesecake and shared).

Trip to theatre and booked a table at this restaurant. Second time we have been there. Arrived 20 minutes early but that was not a problem, despite it being very busy, and we're seated straight away. Made our order and pretty soon the dishes started to arrive. The food was brilliant. I'd ordered an asparagus with cheese dish (can't recall the name) but it was absolutely superb. All the food was great, and the service very friendly and attentive. There was a very loud group (only two couples but sounded like more, alcohol will do that.) This was managed by aplomb and discretion by the staff. We tried the blue wine, which tasted like wine (!) but was just blue. Deserts were excellent also. Only one concern, the tables (for 2) are a bit small and there was some difficulty getting all the dishes on. Small quibble that does not distract from the brilliant meal. Highly recommend.

When we visited, there was an issue with a broken alarm that made it very noisy. The portions were quite small for the prices, and overall, it wasn’t a pleasant experience for breakfast—it definitely didn’t feel satisfying.

Loved our impromptu visit. Warmly welcomed, great house Rioja, service and food ( Lamb tagine superb). Shellfish intolerance well respected.

Beautiful food, beautiful restaurant with a lovely vibe. Can’t wait to return and try a few more dishes… we ordered a jug of Sangria, which was good too. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Came here for breakfast and was blown away with how amazing the service and the food was.Friendly staff tended to our every need and did not disappoint in the slightest with the coffee or the breakfast. Poached egg with avocado on toast was beautiful with the tastiest sausage and bacon on the side. Would come back here in a heartbeat, a must if you’re in Newcastle.

Nice restaurant where you can eat well, a bit more expensive but it is worth it

We dined for breakfast here and the food and service was bang on. Good tasting food and nice friendly service. I'd suggest adding a sauce on the breakfast I purchased.

Absolutely cracking eatery. Alongside ten other work associates we chose to have our Xmas scran-up here, several nights prior to the big day. We all opted for the special Festive Menu: bread/olives, three tapas choices and dessert. Our orders were banged out in quick time and barely a crumb was left afterwards. I fired back three of the easy to drink House Lager which kept the brain relatively intact. My spend was about £50 which represented very decent value for money. Service was friendly and efficient and whilst the place wasn't packed, trade was good for a Thursday night.

The visit to the Spanish tapas restaurant was a delightful experience. The interior decor captured the essence of Spain, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The group sampled six tapas dishes along with a shared platter, all of which were well-prepared and flavorful, leaving everyone satisfied. The staff provided attentive and proactive service, ensuring the table was well taken care of throughout the meal. While the pricing was on the higher side, it was justified by the quality of the food and the overall experience. A great spot for authentic Spanish cuisine and a worthwhile indulgence.

We went in to have a typical Spanish coffee with milk, they don't even know what it is and they kicked us out for being Spanish.

This will be my second review as I did as promised and retuned to try the tapas menu. Part of a large group of 20 people out for a Xmas meal. We were seated upstairs which was just perfect, beautifully decorated and much less frantic than the downstairs restaurant and bar. We all had the £29.99 Xmas menu (3 tapas dishes and a desert plus bread and olives). The food was amazing. So tasty and surprisingly filling. There are plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options which kept everyone in our party happy. The waiting staff were excellent, very friendly and kept us right on what we had ordered. They really made the night. Our table was booked for 19:30 and I left at 10’ with some of our party still chatting away. We never felt rushed or on a conveyor belt despite it being a busy Saturday night. Other places could learn from this. Highly recommend and I can’t wait to go back.

Had a 3 tapas meal for £20. Calamari, meatballs and patatas bravas. Nice food, good service at a very busy time. Would go back.

Great tapas selection and the food was very tasty. We loved the mushroom gratin, chicken with chimichurri sauce and the seafood mix. Would recommend getting 3 dishes per person. Nice setting and prices are decent. The sangria was good too.

3rd visit and consistently great food, had better tapas here than some of the places we've been to in Spain. Very friendly service, had a laugh when we couldn't work out how to pronounce one of the tapas and apparently neither could the server, not the end of the world. Would definitely return.

Lidia served us, we had the 3 tapas lunchtime deal. Atmosphere was good and will definitely be back.

Visited for the first time while Christmas shopping with my adult son. Greeted and sat right away. Food absolutely delicious and generous portions. Staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely return. The nicest tapas we’ve ever had.

The waiting staff were too attentive and didn't seem to be aware we had already ordered, which led to confusion, we had to double check our order was placed. Which it had been, however some of the ingredients were missing from our dish. The manager dealt with the matter very well and checked we were happy with the result. The decor was very appealing. The food was tasty. We called in without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon and found it very busy and noisy but we managed to sit at the bar. Next time I would choose a quieter time so we could sit at a table. The menu was extensive and the staff were helpful.

Vine para una comida previa al concierto y fue encantador. Todo estaba muy caliente, rápido y muy sabroso. Ambos pedimos las tres tapas y nos sorprendió lo grandes que eran las porciones. Mi hija luchó por terminar el suyo. El personal era muy atento y el lugar tenía un zumbido encantador al respecto. Sin duda volveré y disfrutar de algunos cócteles como tuve que conducir!

We had the most delicious lunch here with a great selection of food. All the dishes were flavourful and the waiters were attentive and lovely. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also great, however it does get busy so I recommend booking your table. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic service, great food (and we probably had over a dozen different dishes across six of us - all delicious), a nice buzz but not madly noisy. 100% recommend Cafe Andaluz for tapas joy.

Superb lunch time menu highly recommend 2 x drinks 6 x tapas all for £56 including discretionary tip which would of paid anyway as service & quality of tapas was very good.Tapas sized portions generous with pleasant surroundings will definitely return. Location all within a couple hundred yards from Metro idea location close to the theatre

Nice and vibrant setting, tried their mixita paella 🥘. Very tasteful and fulls easily 2-3 people.

Desafortunadamente, a medida que nuestras bebidas llegaron, el miembro del personal derramó una bebida que mojó 2 / 4 de la fiesta y no ofreció ninguna disculpa real, aparte de movernos a una nueva mesa seca y reemplazar la bebida que se derramó - que no era ideal, dado que teníamos planes en Newcastle después de la comida. La comida era buena, especialmente las patatas gratinadas, las gambas rebozadas y el pollo rebozado con miel. La única excepción fue la pichana a la parilla, las tiras de 'steak' eran pequeñas, masticables y tan buenas como frías y deben ser la peor relación calidad-precio en el menú a £ 11. 95 o un suplemento de £ 3 en la oferta del domingo.

Great little find in the centre of Newcastle, very authentic feeling Spanish resturant with a warm atmosphere, tapas was very nice , all fresh tasting and served with a smile! You won't be dissoppointed!

Ordered a selection of tapas via Deliveroo. Receipt showed time order left the cafe but didn’t get to us for another 35-40 minutes. Sat down to a selection of warm tapas which was upsetting as never eaten with Cafe Andaluz. This was to try food before booking table in restaurant but now disheartened. Very disappointing and in my opinion orders should not be delivered by electric bike. I’m sure it’s not the restaurants fault but they should be aware of how their food is delivered.

Well worth spending your coin here. A great range of tapas, not too little, not too much and caters for non-carnivores. Desserts were also lovely, especially the brulé and sticky toffee puddings. Soz, no pictures as I was eager to get stuck in which says it all really

Too crowded, not enough space between tables. When the pushy waitress tried to up sell the bottle of wine I had chosen to a similar bottle £8 more expensive the die was cast. Food ok. Nothing bad, nothing great. No reason to return. There are other establishments in Newcastle that offer better food and genuinely nice service for less money.

The wet product is particularly delicious, 1️⃣ squatting for meals and drinking 3️⃣ water, the elixir is delicious.

We had a booking for 10 on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Once ordered, the food arrived quickly. The tapas portions were a good size and were very filling (we had 5 dishes between 2 people). I had the Calamari which was cooked perfectly and the Baked Mushrooms which was absolutely gorgeous! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the service from staff was great.

Lovely Tapas, will go again next time we're in Newcastle. Goats Cheese, Andaluz salad, meat balls, battered chicken and calamari we're all great. Everything we had was lovely.

Absolutely beautiful building. Friendly staff, efficient service, and delicious food. We visited on a Friday morning and chose from the breakfast menu. I had eggs chorizio avocado on toast, and my wife had the pancakes. Both dishes were excellent. This was our second visit, and the first time was of a similar standard, on that occasion, we had the pancakes and Spanish breakfast. Will definitely be returning.

Visited yesterday with my daughter for a birthday meal. We had a voucher for 2 meals that had to be used before the end of September. We presented the voucher and the manager stated the vouchers had already been used. We stated that the vouchers had not been used but the manager refused to listen and made a scene at the front of house in front all of the other customers causing us major distress and embarrassment. It took 30 mins for the manager on shift to realise his mistake and rectify by giving us a free drink. This totally ruined our afternoon and we will not be returning to an establishment that treats its returning customers with such disregard.

Sub par service really let this place down. It was a Sunday evening and perhaps 70% full but the service was awful. The staff seemed annoyed we weren’t ordering the (poor value) Sunday special offer, and then seemed like they did not want to serve us and came across grumpy. After our starters more food came but empty plates weren’t cleared we ended up having to put them on the floor which the staff just walked around. There was staff standing around not doing much so they couldn’t say they were too busy. Food was tasty to be fair but there is much better value tapas restaurants in Newcastle with much better service. 10% service charge automatically added to the bill which is definitely not deserved and maybe made the staff lazy knowing they automatically got tipped?

A fantastic evening out. Staff were very helpful and helpful. Lidia was very attentive to ensure we were alert to which foods were gluten feee and what not to try from my partners plate. She ensured we had a great time. The food was excellent and good value for money.

We came on a Saturday lunchtime when they had a 3 for 2 deal on main courses on. Brilliant value. Glad we paid extra for the garlic bread (which wasn't included in that) as it was enough to share between 2 people. Left feeling comfortably full. Location is brilliant opposite the Newcastle theatre Royal. Staff were friendly, professional and fast with delivering our food. I'd recommend booking as it can get busy. If you arrive at 12 you will be fine without this though. Lovely fresh food with great service, portions and prices. Will definitely be coming back.

Was amazing like always the food.

Beautiful food and excellent value on the pre-theatre menu (3 tapas for 18.95 and add a dessert for £5) I had the spicy prawns (prawns in tomato based sauce with chilli and coriander), the aubergine in pomegranate and yoghurt sauce, and the (ever popular) honey chicken. Cocktails were good, strong and very pretty. The Penelope Cruz is very pretty with the cream foam. My friend enjoyed that. Everything was spot on, and my friends were all struggling to finish their three tapas - we were stuffed after wards. Waited some time for space for dessert after and we all had the creme brulee (but the cheesecake looked beautiful too). The catalan style vanilla custard of the creme brulee is a bit thicker and less smooth than what we'd have else where I think - and the whole thing is served cold. We really enjoyed dessert, they were big but everyone finished theirs. Service was great, very attentive and friendly. Recommend!

We booked the Spanish Sharing Feast with an itison voucher: £39 for two, which included bread, olives, a glass of Sangria each, 5 tapas to share (from a very wide choice) and a dessert each. Everything was fabulous - the absolutely gorgeous venue, with Andalucian furnishings; the delicious food; and the fantastic service! Many thanks to all the staff - Leon, Sam, Jordan, Javine, Omkar - and all the brilliant chefs. We will definitely visit again! Thank you, Cafe Andaluz - and thank you itison!

Visited during restaurant week, the offer being 3 tapas and a dessert for £20 during dinner service. It was very busy with a good atmosphere, service was good despite all tables being full. We opted for honey mustard chicken, patatas bravas, chorizo, padron peppers, paella tapa and the jamon croquettes, followed by the chocolate brownie and Creme brulee- all very good.

Very good selection on the menu for a reasonable price - especially for a large group. Each plate is well-portioned which makes for great value. Was very pleased with the service speed and friendliness.

Went for Restaurant Week and have to say the food was incredible, but the service was totally awesome, really the best I've ever come across in any restaurant. I went on an evening with a friend and even though the restaurant was really busy, our servers were attentive, smiley, chatty, recommended particular wine to go with our food and just generally looked after us superbly. We felt very spoiled and in fact we booked to go again 2 days later. Would very much recommend.

Second time visiting Cafe Andaluz and it has been fantastic both times. One of the best restaurants in town, the food is amazing and the staff are extremely friendly, especially Alan who made our visit extra good for my mam's birthday - very kind and a funny guy.

Had a wonderful meal on Thursday night. Nothing too much trouble for Allen who served us and Laura Front of House who made us feel mist helpful. If Cafe Andaluz are looking to open another restaurant please look around the Leeds area so we wont have to travel so far. Thank you

3.5 stars for me I was there for breakfast not long ago. I had the pancakes plus hot tea. The pancakes were mediocre I feel their other options must have been better .. especially the tapas Service was slow as they had a newcomer on the team. I did not appreciate they added 10% (optional) gratuity to my bill and charged for it .. I think it should be left discretionary and not added, unless asked by customer .. I can’t be bothered to pay extra when the service was slow Atmosphere is pretty neat. Nice to sit indoors or outdoors

Booked an early dinner and was acknowledged and seated quickly. Friendly staff all ensuring we were ok - I was casually just sitting looking around and a waitress came over to check we were ok. Food was lovely and found the price to be very reasonable - £92 for 4 drinks, 6 tapas and 2 desserts on a Saturday and thst included a 10% tip. Would visit again when in the area

We were served by Alan who made the whole experience of dining here fun. He guided us through the menu, drinks and number of dishes to order. The food was superb, drinks arrived and were served to us promptly, relaxed atmosphere, music playing at a nice volume so we could talk. We were not rushed and had our table from 5pm for the rest of the evening. Overall a very positive experience. We would highly recommend. The best bit for us was we had visitors with us from Canada so felt we were showing the very best of North east dining and hospitality.
