First time here and have to say the food was first class. I’ll go as far to say this was probably my best fillet steak I have ever had. Lovely cosy old building down a side street steeped in history. So glad we chose to eat here. Bravo

My family and I are on holiday in Looe, and as I'd heard great things about this restaurant, I booked a table for 4 ,for Sunday lunch and opted for a carvery. The staff and chefs did not disappoint! The service was exemplary, the wait staff very attentive and incredibly polite. They were also incredibly accommodating when I explained I'd had a Gastric Bypass, it was no issue for me to have a Child's carvery. We choose all 3 meats (Loin of Pork with crackling, Medium Roast Beef and Turkey) there was a fantastic selection of vegetables and the roast potatoes were cooked to absolute perfection! If you ever visit Looe on a Sunday book yourself a table here, you will NOT regret it!!

Spent the week in Looe and had our Sunday roast here, unexpected but managed to get in this busy pub. Staff were amazing, friendly, efficient, helpful. As a family of 5, we were well looked after and the Roast selection was delicious and vegetables/ roasts/ gravy were in abundance. We returned during the week with our family members who joined us and booked a table for 9. This greeting was wonderful, again, staff members were SO friendly and great with kids. We also learnt so much about the history of the pub. All 9 meals were 1st class, this place is definitely worth visiting!!

We came on Sunday, and first impressions the building is lovely, very warm and cosy and really nice. Unfortunately when placing the booking over the phone we were never told that Sundays is roast only, and one of my children doesn’t eat meat and doesn’t like the nut roast. Also the staff were very young and kept messing up our order and it took them 15 mins to even take our drinks order, they were busy but they were standing around talking while we were waiting for them to take our order. Restaurant is lovely but defo wouldn’t return again unfortunately if back in the area. All veg was hard as well as potato’s and for a bill of over £120 just wasn’t worth it

We’ve visited the Smugglers Cot many times over the years and despite some hit and miss experiences, this year’s visit has been better/good. The service was excellent and the food good but the portions in relation to cost were not up to snuff. Better value for money would bring us back more, but not often.

We dined here for the experience the first night. And we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It's supposed to be hearty but not only. It is also good, well prepared and researched. We thought we would go and try other restaurants the next days but ended up coming back two times: once because we wanted to try more of the menu and the second time because there were not that many options open on a Monday and hell, we still had some of the menu to explore. It's beautiful, the staff is super friendly and helpful, and again, the menu 😜🤣. Note that this is not just a restaurant, it's a historical building, with smugglers tunnels recently uncovered and memorabilia. Our best memory of Looe.

We visited as a family of 4 tonight (1st of June). We have been several times in the past when we have visited Looe. To be honest I read a few recent reviews and I was a little concerned…. IMO DONT be put off!! I had the mixed grill, it was superb! Big chunks of meat served on a skewer with blue cheese sauce and chips. My wife had the duck, which was equally as good with veg and perfectly cooked potatoes. Both the kids meals were exactly as expected, no problems whatsoever either. Deserts…. My wife had pavalova and the kids had ice cream, I was way too full up to eat anymore! I had a really good pint of san Miguel and we shared a bottle of the Romanian pinot Grigio - which we both highly recommend. Staff were great and we could not fault the service, they were also kind enough to move our booking last minute to the earlier sitting for us! Thanks for a lovely meal.

A lovely old restaurant dating back to the 1420's with a smuggling history. Some of the interior oak timbers were apparently salvaged from the Spanish Armada. I had the devilled whitebait for starters which were served with a cajun mayonnaise. For my main I had the baked bream which was delicate and simply delicious. I’m currently laid down relaxing after an amazing Sunday lunch! We booked a couple of days before our reservation, but in peak season it seems you’d definitely have to book earlier. The building is gorgeous inside and out, loved reading about the history of the building. Three of us all had a different meat, one turkey (wonderful!), one beef (cooked perfectly medium rare) and one pork (impressive crackling!) the portions of meat were generous, as was the veg (with a great variation too) Yorkshire puddings are one of the most important parts of a roast for me and these ones definitely did not disappoint! Roast potatoes were crispy and fluffy and we all loved the cauliflower cheese with leeks. Ooh and the stuffing was amazing too. The gravy was excellent and we were instantly provided with extra gravy on request. Two of us managed a desert - the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake was proper authentic baked cheesecake, the kind you have to eat with a fork, beautiful! And the chocolate and Cointreau pots were deliciously rich (went excellently with the clotted cream!) The staff were welcoming and friendly too. Absolutely great, we would definitely visit again if we’re back down this end of the country!

Best roast dinner we’ve had in cornwall for years. Generous portions, tender meat and lovely staff. In a beautiful atmospheric setting. Re booked for next visit!

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.
