Firstly the shop smells amazing ! We ordered cod & chips and they honestly were the most delicious we have ever tasted . Super easy ordering, ready in minutes Very friendly staff . Absolutely perfect 🌟

Fish was good but chip were very oily as well but I think they weren't fried properly or the potatoes were a bit old but the fish was very good

Family of 6 who have been using Smugglers for many years now. We used it twice this week whilst staying by Kennack Sands and as usual we were not disappointed. We tried the catch of the day Hake which was absolutely delicious, very soft, white and cooked perfectly. The portions were perfect, they are not the extra large portions that you may get at your local chipy, but the portion size is enough to feed a grown adult. The kids meals are also perfect and the size of cod you get with it is more than enough. The fishcakes also went down well with the kids who said they were delicious. The price of food is where it should be and we'll worth the money. The time to cook the food is also quick, we ordered various meals for 6 and our food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The locals are friendly and also a good way of finding recommendations if your unsure of what to choice. The young chap serving is very polite, friendly and professional and is willing to answer any questions or give recommendations. I would highly recommend Smugglers to anyone and we will continue to come here in the future.

Best fish and chips of my life - crisp and dry batter, cheesy chips (with actual melted cheese!) just perfect. And didn’t have to wait long despite a bit of a queue but they managed it really well. Brilliant!

Very good fish and chips. Went for the hake which was one of the ‘catch of the day’ fish on offer and it was very fresh and worth the little bit extra. We will visit again when in Cornwall.

Chips was cold and taste burnt, fish very small for a large cod and they forgot to put in the bag the curry sauce I paid for. Don't recommend this take away, very disappointed 😞

Great fish and chip shop in Lizard with lovely friendly staff to welcome you. Chips were perfect, lovely, and brown with a crispy outer shell and fluffy inside. All the food was cooked to order.

Top notch fish and chips the only down side being that it was only open Thursday/ Friday/ Saturday.

Best fish and chips for miles around. Highly recommended if your down at lizard point. Reasonable priced, freshly cooked to order and really good.

Checked internet for opening times. Got there and sheet of paper said not Monday. Following week got there Wednesday sheet of paper said not just Thursday Friday Saturday!!!

Such a shame that although there was a big queue, the staff closed early as they had run out of food. I won't knock the quality if food, having bought fish and chips there previously which were excellent, but the business let so many families down. It was a chicken kebab from the van opposite the old Mullion holiday camp to settle my hunger.

53 years old. Had the standard medium fish and chips (£10). Was quite simply the most perfect fish and chips I have ever had. The fish was indescribably good. As white as turkey teeth, with the crispiest batter and no grease at all. Can’t honestly find the words to describe the quality.

Staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. A little pricey at a £1 for a little thing of ketchup though.

Unfortunately, we didn't receive all of our order. There were no chips for the child's meal and no dip for the chicken strippers, even though we were asked which one we wanted. We also ordered 2 large portions of chips, which were not very big portions at all so we ended up not having enough to go around. Due to our campsite being 20 minutes away, there was no point in going back as the food would be cold. Disappointed to have paid a lot for not very much. The food that we did have, was indeed very nice though.

The young chap in the counter really looked like he enjoyed his job and was very polite and smiley . Busy with a little wait, obviously cooked fresh and piping hot Thoroughly recommend

Haven't used for awhile but food & service were excellent.

We got served by very friendly young gentleman, who seemed to enjoy doing what he does. This is something (sadly) you don't come across very often in places like that. Food was amazing, we went for the catch of the day, I had a skate & chips, my partner had hake & chips. Both were lush, fresh and cooked to perfection. Lovely chips, not greasy, nice and crunchy. We also had curry sauce and mushy peas, both really good too. Reasonable portions, reasonable prices. Clean restaurant. There are few tables in the restaurant if one wants to eat in. We decided to take ours back to the hotel as I am such a messy eater 😂 No complaints. Would definitely come back.

Fish and chips for 3 people with small pots of curry over £35. The fish was tiny looked like one cod cut into three and placed in the cartons. Poor value for money

Not big portions, especially veg/vegan. Charging for sauces (20p, for no reason according to us) Tasty,at least. Dog friendly!! (Thankful for that!)

Had the cod and chips today.i found the cafe very tidy and clean,the staff were very friendly.The chips were golden and so was the batter ,the fish was creamy with big flakes,just right and not greasy,delicious.

Truly horrendous, lackadaisical attitude from the rude guy taking orders. No beef burgers, chicken burgers, fish cakes, chicken strips or sausages. When I eventually managed to get chips and gravy for £4.50 I was given cold chips and a tub of curry… because they don’t do gravy. Tried to dodge giving me a refund, people complaining about their horrendous looking fish all around. Then lied that I swore at him. Horrible behaviour.

Our experience yesterday was that Smugglers has got even better. We have been coming here for years but yesterday they excelled themselves. The chips were skin-on and tasted amazing, like something from a high-end foodie restaurant. The cod was deliciously chunky, with a thin, light batter. And we ate it piping hot sitting at a table in the warm evening sunshine on their little decking area. What more could you ask for? 😊

We love the fish and chips from smugglers and always come here when visiting our family for the past 30 years. Sad to say this wasn’t the best experience. The Cod was very, very over cooked and tough as Monkfish cooked for hours. The chips were soggy and sweet from using the wrong potato for the time of year. Shame to see such a great place with a great reputation serving below standard fish and chips. Happy to pay a good price for good food but things need to get back to what they were.

Nice fish but very small for the price and the chips a tad greasy. There was a time when having fish and chips would fill you up and was a cheap meal, sadly this isn't the case here.

Used this fish and chip shop many times on holiday in cornwall and generally the food has been alright.Last time i thought the cod portions were small for £7.50 mind. This time, no cod at all at 6pm on a Saturday!.Add to that the wait time of 15 minutes to order, 3 people in the queue, and 15 minutes to serve. Only 2 staff were working. Rest assured you wont be getting anymore of my time or money! Top tip, use the chippy in Mullion!

Just a word to the owner of Smugglers. The loser with the beard closes and locks up before he should. I had already paid for food and then the place was locked up when I returned at 7.50 pm to pick up my order. I was told that they close by the loser in question, at 8.00 pm. Finally a polite young man opened up the chip shop again and gave me my order. If the skinny bearded scroat doesn’t enjoy shovelling chips for a living, it’s not my fault. Go back to school or don’t bother. To be fair, he’s an expert at putting pickled onions in a bag but that’s where his skills end.

Called in here for out tea last night, haven’t been here for quite some time , but it’s fair to say they tasted as good as we remembered them to be .

I live near the Lizard and we visited the Smugglers as we near by. ordered a regular cod and chips, yes they were ok but the price £12 was abit over the top, Does your fish and potatoes come for russia as every where else locally charges between £8-£9. its one thing over charging Holiday maker but its the locals that keep your business running out of season. i will not be using this establishment again.

Wouldn't recommend here got fish and chips with a side of food poisoning was throwing up for a good 12 hours wasn't just me that had it either another family member got it too, called the place to tell them and they was certain that it wasn't from them but that's all we had eaten.

Ok, but fish-batter rather soggy - if not simply undercooked

There was no different between small or large cod, apart from the price! Such a shame, hate being ripped off, being going here as a holiday treat for over twenty years, will save my pennies and have a treat when I get home at our local.

VERY DISAPPOINTED: After not visiting due to COVID19 etc. Discovered that the Shop has been "relocated" next door. Staff seem to be completely changed. New management ? QUALITY : NOT IMPRESSED with the Fish, Overpriced and Small, batter soggy. Chips....close to Inedible Mushy peas, paid for but not in bag. Phoned, they said to get free next time. To be honest, didn't bother. Drove to Helston. (S&V Near traffic lights... BRILLIANT VALUE, open far longer hours, 7 dpw. Quality great, worth the drive ) PREVIOUS REVIEW 2019 :Excellent Fish and Chips, best ones that I know in this area. Winter hours at the moment.

Fantastic Fish and Chips... if they have any locally caught Hake or Haddock try it - you can get Cod and Chips back at home.. and don't forget a chip butty and some mushy peas

This place now has a dual personality! There is gelato (ice cream to me ...) During the day and fabulous fish and chips by night! The gelato is made on site and is quite awesome! The bannoffee pie was my favourite and actually reasonably priced. As for the fish and chips, I'd your in early there is local fish, which is pricey, but well worth it! And the chips never let us down. The new set up works well for covid safety, as you can distance quite well as you wait outside. Not so great in the rain ....

Fish and chips looking out over the sea, it's one of life's pleasures. The speed of service was astounding, certainly less than the 5 minutes I was told it would take. The food, well I have a feeling there is someone with a rod and line bringing in the fish ready for immediate preparation and frying. It really was that good. Watch the pesky Gulls don't take advantage of your relaxed demeanour, they'll have your prized fish supper in the blink of an eye.

Called ahead of time to check they were open and had food available. Was told yes (I was 10mins away)🙌 Arrived and waited outside..someone shortly came out and advised they were "not taking anymore orders"🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤔 Don't know about the Fish and Chips but their customer service was ridiculous!👎🏽

Beautiful piece if cod; very fresh that it smells in your mouth. The batter is the right amount, light and crispy. Real chips that are not swimming in grease. Go price at £7.50. Only downside; takeaway.

Called in here today after reading the reviews on here, well what can i say. The words escape me for how bad the food was. The batter on the fish was hard and greasy, the chip were greasy and overpriced for the size if the fish. Captain birdsey could do better.

Not sure if smugglers gelato is a part of this restaurant but if it is then it is the best ice cream I have ever had to this day.

Fantastic fish, chips and curry sauce. We enjoyed eating it within the square on the picnic tables provided. Would definitely recommend and if we ever revisit, we'll certainly be back.
