Very nice fish and chips. But it wasn't open in the prescribed times. Shut way before 3pm Sunday.

Smugglers fish and chips are the best by a mile, have been using smugglers for years, always pleasant staff and very tasty fish and chips

Sorry Smugglers.... Fish was awful. Should have returned it and got my hard earned money back.

Any time I've been to Rottingdean it's closed (even when the sign indicates it would be open) ...

Great tasting fish and chips, the best in the area. Our regular treat after school.

Had a take-away Haddock fish & chips - 👍 portion for two. Good friendly service.

Chips were delicious but the fish was non existent, just thick uncooked batter.

First time trying fish and chips from smugglers as highly recommended.staff were smiley and welcoming. The cod was fresh,thick and was cooked spot on with a thin light crispy batter And the chips were just right. This is a gem of a chip shop.

Decent quality - all fresh and cooked to order Chips are banging - just want you want from chippy. Fish was good but I prefer them when they are a bit thicker and meatier - the ratios with the batter was slightly off for me

A tired fish and chips shop, run by stressed people. Chip portions were good size but pricey at £5 per portion. The cod was not going to win awards. The jumbo sausage does not mean you'll get more sausage, just more batter which the seagulls enjoyed lol 😆😋

Chips are good but the fish really wasn't. Didn't taste fresh, batter wasn't crispy enough, real shame. Would love this place to be an amazing fish and chip shop

Very friendly service and staff. Top notch fresh fish and chips.

Popped in for some chips and was very impressed. Surprised at the portion size which was very generous, and they came in a bag too, no plastic trays or rubbish paper ones that spill the chips everywhere. Very tasty chips, can't comment on any thing else but with friendly service I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Ordered small chips and Mozerella sticks today. Very big portion! :) Really tasty food and staff were friendly too

Have visited here many times over the years, the chips are always good, however the fish varies greatly. Thursdays cod has has to be the worst I have ever been served anywhere. It was over cooked and the fish was completely in-edible, dry, hard and stuck fast to the batter, had to throw away. So disappointed, only gave 2 stars because of the chips.

Stopped of here to grab some fish & Chips for our lunch on the beach, the staff are super friendly, the fish & Chips were wonderful. the batter was crisp as it should be and the chips were lovely and fresh, thank you smugglers fish and chips we will be back soon, WONDERFUL

Daughter and I ordered Kalimari , chips and mozzarella sticks after swimming in the sea. We were very hungry which usually makes everything taste amazing, even less tasty food. Not in this situation. I have rarely eaten such low quality food. Every single item was horrendous. The Kalimari was tasteless and rubber-like, chips were cold, white and looked like they had hardly been cooked, awful. Mozarella sticks again like tasteless rubber. I think even the seagulls would turn their nose up at it. If I could give zero star I would.

Horrible, oily, soggy batter. And overpriced for such bad quality of food. Threw away both boxes as we couldn’t eat it.

Undercooked chips and raw batter

Was very busy which we didn't mind but chips and batter where under cooked. We would have waited a bit longer as we waited to have them anyway. Staff pleasent but we realized they hadn't given us our drink that we had paid for when we were on the beach.

Lovely service from the staff but have to say for the price you pay, the fish and chips were very bland tasting and I wouldn’t recommend.

I'd give the food 4 out of 5 as it was very tasty. Portion sizes are very generous too. But the staff were so rude and unfriendly. I won't be going here again simply because of that reason.

Not open when visited today. I thought they would be doing takeaways at 1pm on a Saturday

Went there for take away fish & chips yesterday afternoon. Very polite friendly service & the food was cooked to perfection. Lovely little place & well worth dropping in if in the area

By far the best Fish and Chips I have ever had, The fish is fresh and tasty, with a fabulously light batter. The chips and vegan gravy are second to none. Staff are fabulous and work very hard. The manager Coral is always welcoming and friendly. If you are in the area then this is the place to go for our traditional national dish

Rude staff and questionable hygiene, would definitely not buy from here again

Hard to find this place open. When it is the chips are great! The young girl who served us was brusque and rather off putting! The owner is great and although this place is only open at certain times it is worth a visit.... Great Chips....

Tasty fish and chips. Short walk from the beach.

Perfect way to finish our beach walk, social distancing measures really thought out! Lovely staff and the food was amazing, best fish and chips I’ve had! Look forward to coming back soon!

We've had good only a few times over the last few years here mainly because it's never been hot and it's not as cheap, or good, as other local chippies. Had a bag of chips last week which were £3:20. Saltdean for the same size were £2:00 and they were hot. The shops are half a mile away from each other!

Collected fish & chips for the family to eat in the garden on this lovely sunny day... The cod was lovely and fresh and the chips were light and fluffy the kids loved the veggie burgers.... well done for your veggie & vegan menu Lovely staff , stay safe

We came to Rottingdean beach today and had fish and chips and it was the best we’ve ever had!!! Better then the places in Brighton would highly recommend and we will definetly be back!!!!! X

The staff are always pleasant, however the cost of a small bag of chips at £3 is extortionate. Hence, we go elsewhere.

Lovely staff, great food, and an extensive and clear vegan menu. Couldn't ask for more!

A nice location but the place is run poorly. Slowest service ever. Quick tip, when you are busy, why don't you ask the customers what they want when they come in. Then you can prep/cook ahead. Cooking to individual orders is surely wasting time and money

Average - maybe we had the first chips of day, bu they were undercooked at times.

Amazing chips...And I know chips! On an extremely hot day with soooo many customers they were still happy and efficient. I would have gone back to praise them on person but the queue was out the door! Literally!

Always nice fish and chips, the only downside is that they are so popular which can mean a bit of a wait, but it's worth it.

Fish and chips on the beach a very British thing to do so why not do it at Rottingdean you can pay with cash or card. Good parking facilities just 2 minutes walk away.

Have had decent food from here before last summer, but recent experience very disappointing. £13 for two small cod and chips. Chips seemed like they were cooked at lunch time and heated up and cod was not a good piece of fresh cod but more like a Findus fish composite/amalgamation and tasted very odd. To be fair, out was a very quiet night and maybe during busier periods there is fresher stuff available. Won't be going back, unfortunately.

Yesterday we picked up some fish 'n' chips from here as we were on our way home. Stopped off and sat on a bench just a cross the road looking out to sea. The chips was delicious as was the fish. Recommend it? Absolutely.......

Took half an hour to be served even though there were only 2 people in front of us. The food so was so covered in salt we couldn't eat everything.

Nice chips, cod and battered sausages were decent, bit stingy on the amount curry sauce for £1.30 and I thought a can of soft drink was a bit expensive at £1.20 Overall very nice though and good location. Thanks :)

Plaice and chips were both quite greasy and soggy. Battered sausage was alright though. Very convenient to go sit on the beach with too, and friendly staff.

Nice fish & chips ... but I went last week at 2:20pm only to find the staff leaving. That's 10 mins before advertised closing time.. Today I went at 1:15 and it was closed, when advertised as open.. I give up.

Food was soggy, staff unfriendly, really the only positive was that the service was quick.

Pleasant enough place to find in this hidden cove. Friendly staff were complemented by slightly sticky feeling tables & menus. The salmon fishcake was tasty, if a fraction overcooked.

Eat in restaurant tonight with my wife and 2 daughters. Food was brilliant service was great and friendly. Some of the best I have ever eaten

Chips were good but the Cod was very oily, a bit bland and over battered. Good place for sausage/scampi and chips!
