Smoke&Ice Retford in Bassetlaw

Roast potatoes were very disappointing, some were fresh and some were old so a couple crispy but most were warmed back up so rock hard skin and soft brown potato inside. The meal deal comes with a soft drink not a beer & you can't pay extra to swap either. I personally don't think it's value for money @ £15 for the average meal. I've tried it twice now but won't rush back.

Had brilliant birthday meal. Delicious food, great atmosphere and staff couldn’t have been more helpful & friendly if they tried. All the staff were great at helping a wheelchair user in our group and took time to explain the menu and sauces to the newbies. Thanks again for the happy birthday song, all 10 of us really enjoyed it and will definitely be back. 🥳🥳🥳🥳

Came in at 3pm on a Sunday and just after a large group walked in. Staff were very friendly and polite and after checking everything was in stock, we sat down with our friends to order. Manager came over after about 5 mins to inform us that they'd sold out of the brisket in a matter of minutes (16 orders for it had just come through, so they only had chikcen). Not a huge issue although a bit disappointing, but it was the end of the day so couldnt moan! We quickly got our order in and our drinks arrived nice and fast. Food took a bit of time (maybe 30 mins max??) But the big group ordered first so we didn't expect miracles! Regardless the staff apologised and brought us a free round of drinks until our food was out, which was more than nice of them. Food was out within 5-10mins of our drinks and it was delicious. The food was destroyed within 15 minutes and we were more than happy with our choices. Kids got an ice cream to go (they'd worked passed their closing hours for the big group and ourselves, bless them) and when we were gathering our stuff they brought us some free chicken breasts with sauce as they had some spare and didnt want to throw it out. Couldn't say no! This isn't the first time we've visited, but the service has always been top tier and delicious. Couldn't recommend them more 👌

Fantastic food. Brilliant service. Accommodated a table of 16 of us with no issue. Food came out quick, drinks bought over to table, staff funny, friendly and chatty. The roasties are amazing although I wouldn’t recommend them if you fancy a dessert! Got a really good sized vodka lemonade (double) which was relatively cheap. Staff were non stop for us delivering food and clearing the table.

Called in on a Sunday lunchtime after reading the reviews and fancying something different. I had the Killer Korean Fried Chicken Burger and my wife had the Yorkshire Pudding with Brisket and Gravy. We shared some loaded roasties after being offered a sample of the topping sauces available. We took home a couple of the cheesecakes from the extremely tempting desert cabinet. The food was superb and the service was first class. Unfortunately we didn't get the name of the girl serving us but very rarely do you receive a welcome and service of this standard. It's a shame we are not local but we will go out of our way to return.

5* on all accounts, a lovely clean restaurant with ample car parking. Also has a full take away service. Walk in service with very welcoming staff. We met the owner too and he came and discussed the dishes with us in full, very informative gentleman. The food is aimed at an Asian Spice Cusine in a street food serving experience. The setting is casual...we were 4 adults and a teenager and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was top notch and plenty of it, reasonably priced. Plenty of cake choice too. Would imagine great for birthday parties etc. Canned Beer & a choice of cocktails.

What a gem of a place had a hoof box wow the pulled pork was to die for the roasties too gorgeous and the nutella milkshake fabulous. Hope to go again recommend this place tenfold

One of the best places to eat in Retford! The food is amazing. I really enjoyed the chicken katsu pop up they did. It was the best chicken katsu I've ever had. The staff are all so lovely, friendly and really accomodating. They are really patient and always happy to help

Excellent experience 👏. Service is friendly, polite, greeted on entry & thanked when leaving. Prices 💰 arn't wallet busting which is nice. The place is freshly decorated & 5star 🌟 cleanliness. Which pleases my ocd nature. Food is hot, fast & very delicious 😋. The chicken 🐔 burger 🍔 was juicy & tender inside, nice & crispy on the outside with fresh lettuce & a very soft sweet bun 😋 👌. Much better then kfc. The roasties with Joppie is a game changer 😋 they are scrumptious. I can tell the owners family have had tasty amazing Sunday roasts at home 😋 😋 😋. My pudding was the oreo cookie cup, so soft & warm with chocolate ice cream 🍦. I definitely took my time to saver each bite, it was a party of sweet 🍬 flavours in my mouth 😋. Highly recommend for a lovely treat & something different to other eateries. 🌟

Absolutely AMAZING service from Jenny tonight, it was our first time visiting so we were a bit overwhelmed with what to choose and Jenny literally spoke us through the whole menu, let us taste the sauces and had so much time for us! Honestly could not have done more for us! She was super amazing, an absolute credit to the company 100%. We had our doggies in the car and she let us bring them inside near the door! She literally went above and beyond for us! Constant check backs and just an overall lovely lady! The atmosphere was brilliant! Gorgeous little restaurant, super clean and modern! And the FOOD oh my word the FOOD! Out of this world!!!!!! I went for the Franks hot killer Korean chicken burger and it did not disappoint! The perfect amount of spice, the chefs are brilliant! Amazing team, amazing service, amazing atmosphere! Will 100% be back as soon as we can ❤️❤️❤️

Unbelievable food, the sauces.. wow. Friendliest staff, helpful and kind. Had the pulled pork and Korean chicken with roasties, never had better.

We popped out for takeaway during our stay at Sundown Adventureland and found Smoke & Ice at the back of the Lidl carpark. Wow, what lovely food and service! I had the Punchy Pulled Pork bun and my partner had the Buddha Box with Korean Fried Chicken. Both were great. We also had Thai Noodle Salad and Loaded Roasties which were delicious. The total bill was £30 which was just right for the quality of food.

Second time back to Smoke&Ice and it didn't disappoint. Tonight we had the Franks Killer Korean Chicken Burger (pictured) - very yummy! And we had the Killer Korean Fried Chicken Box - also yummy! Sides were the Loaded Roasties with Cheddar/Joppie and Creamy Slaw, which were both excellent. Keep it up guys - you're doing amazing!

Went here for an early lunch, the food was great! Burgers are huge, and not huge because they've got 5 onion rings in.. Kids burgers were good. It would be nice if they had more than one vegan option, this will stop us returning as often 😩 Highchairs were impeccably clean. Sophie stole the show with her amazing service and advice on the menu

We popped in for lunch this afternoon about half an hour after opening, we were both made to feel very welcome right away. The atmosphere was very pleasant and it was so cool inside, music playing and staff members singing along. We had the killer Korean fried chicken box, punchy pulled pork brioche bun, noodle salad and the roast potatoes followed by Biscoff cheesecake and ice-cream. All of the food was fantastic, everything well-prepared and served nicely, we particularly loved the recyclable dishes. Great coffee too! All of the staff we saw were lovely, so friendly and helpful, offering tasters of sauces and ice-cream, we highly recommend this welcome addition to Retford dining!

Absolutely quality food every time we order. You can tell how much thought has went into the recipes, so delicious. As others have said, it's on the pricey side but you really do get what you pay for. I wish them so much success! Awesome to have somewhere so special in Retford.

Been wanting to try S&I since I found it on Facebag! Then saw them opening in Retford. Finally got to go today. Did. Not. Disappoint. Food sooo good. Very clean. Great vibe. And awesome service. Will deffo be back.

Amazingly tasty and don't over order!! Surprisingly filling. The loaded potatoes are amazing especially with burnt ends. Round it off with one of the desserts.....we did ...the banoffee is great too😁😁. Definitely be back. It's not cheap but definitely worth it ❤️

I know it's hard to believe but you can now get actually good food in Retford. Had the Korean chicken sandwich and friend had pulled pork boa. Was all beautifully presented and tasted lovely. Price was also good for the quality. Highly recommend.

Guys, try anything with the pulled pork, it is an amazing dish whether that is as a roll or as the "Smokey Eats Box" - I fully recommend this! The Pulled Park bun is a close 2nd to this but is considerably messier to eat. The ice-cream is beautiful as well. We have been impressed with the coffee and the cherry & chocolate Now on to what they could improve. I don't want to mark these guys down on their review as we were impressed with the one at edwinstowe and this one has only been open a few days so this is more of a suggestion than marking them down. Things for Smoke&Ice to improve on: - I am a fan of QR codes and use them in many sections of my own business, however it looks like the QR codes used for the table ordering have been improperly designed or just unreliable. - The ordering app is quite restrictive for dietary restrictions/preferences - there should really be a "notes" section on each of the menu items to allow for changes. - Can we also have a clearer description of what is actually on the products. My fiancée asked for the burger without the slaw (that was listed) as she greatly dislikes mayo. However she luckily saw the chefs dishing an order before ours where mayo (not listed) was added to the burger and caught one fo them to inform them not to put any on. - The "Collection" system needs a bit of work, the poor chefs can't actually portray what order number is ready. This is quite lacking for customers who may have poor hearing or in this case just aren't paying attention. Try a flashing digital sign that the chefs can input a number. - Roast potato sides were a bit chewey, possibly stood for too long. Why not offer older stock out at a discount to avoid food waste and risk a poor review - Drinks are quite pricey, cans of coke shouldn't really be £2 a can. But I suppose there are the overheads of a new business.
