It was quiet when I went. But nice pub to visit and have a pint and a meal. Recommended. 👍

Very accommodating and dog friendly

Lovely warm welcome and beautiful interior. The food was very nice overall but came too cold. We heard others send their food back for being cold too, so obviously not just us. I think it would be nicer if the veg was cooked fresh for the roast dinners as it had the look of food which had been hanging around despite dining at midday on a Sunday. Same with the kids Mac and cheese - looked like yesterdays. Cucumber and carrots for kids meals not freshly cut. Good value and lovely staff mean we would give it another go.

We visited for Sunday lunch. Having read some reviews we thought it would be a lovely stop. How wrong could I have been. We both ordered the trio lunch and the pork and beef were beyond scarce of meat, we were faced with a large amount of fat which I would say was at least half of the slice. The potatoes were also dry, soft and lacked any flavour. We mentioned this to the waiter and we dismissed. When we finally were able to pay for the meal we were asked if we wanted to leave a tip and how much! Surely this is upto the customer. I would usually all at least 10% but on this occasion I found the staff rude and the food appalling, this could be due to them being part of a chain, which we didn’t know until we sat down. I would suggest avoiding and finding an alternative independent pub as my experience is that they take care with the food they serve.

Popped in for a quick drink as I was thinking of buying a holiday home nearby... Warm welcome, Aspall's cider, lovely conversation with bar man ( sorry name escapes me just now), beautiful place & ambience. Stayed longer than intended simply because of the fabulous bar man, his interest in people, great conversation etc didn't have time to try food, definitely on my list tho...but vegan ..so hopefully there'll be a good choice. Beautiful place.

Love the smiths arms,we have started coming here for food rather than our usual place which is a 2min walk from our door step

We've always enjoyed trips here - went today and decided to leave a review as it was particularly lovely. We sat at a cosy table in the bar area (restaurant is nice too but we really enjoy the atmosphere in the bar) food and drink was spot on - the best sticky toffee pudding I think I've ever had! Plus, the staff were excellent - welcoming and super efficient. Thank you for having us - we will be back soon - and if you've never visited this lovely pub - do it.

Nice food portion size good ,food wasn’t very hot . Friendly service .

The bartender is very friendly. We chatted to him about his dog, and he gave our dog a lot of affection. He's a really good bloke.

Had a really nice Sunday lunch today with the gang at the Smiths Arms whilst out on the motorcycles. They were very welcoming and on the ball.. The beef was very rare and went down a treat. The meal was hot and well presented. The one radish muncher in the group had some kind of mushroom Wellington and said it was delightful..All in all a very nice experience and I would say bikers are very welcome..

My family and I came in with my 4 month old baby and we had a lovely time. We could not fault the service at all and the food was absolutely delicious! Nothing was too much hassle for Craig & Chris who served our table and Eleyna & Macey were very welcoming as soon as we walked in. there wasn't as much choice on the Mother's Day menu - so some of the diners chose not to have a starter. It could have done with a soup included. We were served our drinks in good time & then someone came to take our food order. Starters were good - as were the mains. One of the waiting staff then left & it took a time for our plates to be taken away & then we had to catch someone's attention to order desserts. We had to do the same to get the bill. The meal was good so our experience wasn't marred, however this has happened before when we have visited. It seems some of the staff are on the ball & then others have to be directed.

Very nice Mother’s Day lunch today. Good value for the three course and kids menu good too. Lovely atmosphere with the fires on, on a wet day! Servers very helpful and polite.

We went here for a Sunday lunch as a family. Cannot fault the experience. Excellent service, quick and efficient and the food was excellent.

We had family visit from down south and booked a table a week before in person when having breakfast. Was told that it was ‘sorted’. When arriving we were told that there is no reservation to be found. We waited around for 10 mins which was no problem and then they managed to get us a table. When seated we were told that this table needs to be back in less than a hour or we could go back to the bar and seat at that table. They could see that we had just sat down with a new born baby who was feeding. We explained that we will sit here and if the next party comes they will have to tell them to wait as we were told that a table had been booked so was not our fault. Food was ok but a member of our party asked for beef to be more of the well done side if possible and they grilled the beef. Food could have been warmer. The pub its self is cosy and clean and nice decor. Harrogate is touch competition for Sunday dinner so think it will be a pass for next time

After a long muddy around the Harrogate Ringway it was great to have a few pints of well kept real ale in a lovely pup with the friendliest of staff you could hope to meet . My friend who is to be fair rather obsessed with visiting as many CAMRA pubs he can and reads the Good Beer guide religiously rates this pub as one of the best in a long while . Not least as beer was described and price was quoted before paying .

Delicious food as always as that's the 3rd time now I couldn't resist the red wine lasagna and it's been awesome every time 😋 and the drink with mini brownie is just the right size for me to squeeze in at the end , and very attentive and friendly staff managing it well between the 3 of them , but shame the men's toilets hadn't been fixed properly in the morning as it had been leaking causing very wet floors that the poor staff probably sick of being told it's leaking by customers by the time we left , but still a great meal as always

A very interesting and varied menu. Three of us had the sea bass which we all enjoyed. A lovely relaxed atmosphere with excellent friendly service. Good value for money. Millie ,Tina and Mackey were our excellent servers.

Usually good food but can be a bit hit & miss. Staff young, friendly, but with a high turnover of staff, feels very impersonal with no real sense of customer service.

My 1st visit to the Smiths Arm, it was a favourite of my father inlaws, we had a lovely walk around swinsty reservoir and stopped here on our way home, the pub is charming with plenty of carparking, we hadn't booked but the friendly staff quickly found us a table in the bar area as we had a dog. The pub is cosy and warm with an open fire, good selection of drinks, food was ordered from the lunchtime menu and everything was nice. I'll come again and would recommend the Smiths Arms if you're passing.

The pies are delicious - between 4 of us we had the vegan, the chicken and ham, and the steak & ale which had a light puff pastry top. Plenty of filling in all pies. We called in on impulse for a light lunch while on our way to an event, and received a warm welcome and excellent food. Only sorry that this place is so far from home!

Attended for sunday roast with family. Roast??? Nothing was roasted on the plate, carrots, parsnips, peas and broccoli were all boiled and over cooked. Garlic and and rosemary roasted potato's??, again boiled no crisp to them whatsoever. The beef had so much fat through the middle it was inedible. It looked like a school dinner from the 80s. No one asked us how our meal was. We asked for another drink, 1 young girl said she would be with us soon and didn't come back. We asked another lady for drinks and advised the food was inedible, she apologised and advised this would be taken on the bill. We have all eaten here before with no complaints, however we will not be dinning here again. Attended for sunday lunch left hungry.

Just been for lunch , walked in to a sign saying ‘wait to be seated ‘ no one around ti meet you so sat down in the bar area ourselves . While sat there several other people walked in for a table and were refused a table even though there were empty one in the bar . Ordered a fish sandwich each with which came with fries and a side of onion rings. Onion rings came out first on their own. They were cold so told the waiter who had a face like thunder , they then came out with the sandwiches. Chips flat cold , fish wasn’t very warm either . So they went back, came out again and think it had been put in the microwave . Not a great experience won’t be going back

From the very start, we were greeted warmly and felt valued.. had the pick of seats, and nothing seemed too much trouble, The menu was very easy to understand. The waiter knew his products along with the bar offerings.. the squid was cooled very well (5 years in harrogate, and this is the 1st squid I've had that's been cooked like it should) The burger was mouthwatering and left you wanting more.. just as it should be, the atmosphere was relaxed, clean, and bright but kept the feel of private intricate dining.. Proce was reasonable for sure then take off nhs 20% discount making it cheap for the quality.. looking forward to our next visit.. Log fires, good grub, well looked after, decent prices all togther spot on.

Went at lunchtime for organised meal with walking group. Superb, attentive service from all the staff. Vegetarian meal, Mushroom & Ale Pie which my husband and I both had was lovely and very filling. Considering how busy the pub was we could not fault anything....
