Smile Bar & Venue in Kirklees

the owners here are fabulous .... the nicest people... our experience was nothing short of amazing... have attended various events and general casual drinking ... the biggest event was a wedding, OUR wedding and honestly if you are looking for a venue that can offer it all then this is the one... if your not sure take a leap because you wont be disappointed.. we cant thank them enough now and always!

Great venue with good bands. Organisation is great, no lengthy queues at any of the many bars, plenty of well maintained toilets. All staff were friendly. Well outranks the other well known band venue further out of town.

The sound became far too loud and management, denied this being the case when we raised concern. Told to use ear defenders

First time at venue last night to see Live Wire, brilliant performance at a good venue. Sound quality , lighting and air conditioning good. Will look forward to other events, good service at bar

With a little trepidation we came for an Oasis V Blur night on Saturday Night at the Smile Bar and Venue. Our reservations were mainly from seeing different Oasis tribute bands over the years and often finding them either being over imitators or just not good. But in for a penny as they say, we'd heard good things about Standing on the Shoulder of Oasis from friends who had seen them before, so bought a couple of tickets, but before we get onto the music, the venue is brilliant. From talking to some regular gig goers we'd discovered it's a former Snooker Hall and on closer inspection you can see some signs on edge of the stage of parts of snooker tables. The stage itself was very big, with screens either side showing upcoming gig dates (we are coming back) the staff extremely friendly, there are a few bierkeller styles seats and tables at the back and loads of standing space. So onto the music, first up was a Blur tribute called Blurz who we hadn't come across a Blur tribute before, but they were excellent, the front man particularly energetic and coming off stage to the rail at the front to engage with the crowd, they played some Blur classics and as their set wore on, loads of people were dancing including us, an hour whizzed by quickly. Then came their counterparts Standing on the Shoulders of Oasis. They were absolutely amazing, definitely maybe the best Oasis tribute we've seen, they don't necessarily look like the originals, but their set was a spot on nearly two hours of great song after another. Huge huge compliments to the sound and lighting which was so good. We often find a lot of venues have the mixing wrong, but this was so good, we danced our feet off. We will be back at Smile without a doubt and definitely maybe back if these two bands come back. the sound is amazing and the lighting very professional

Club Classics night at Smile bar was absolutely brilliant ! Old skool vibes with fave dj’s, wicked tunes , live sax and bongos! Fantastic sound , not overcrowded with a great atmosphere throughout. All credit to the bar staff at Smile , well organised queueing system , efficient and professional . Huge thank you Smile for hosting such an amazing event ! Smiles all round! 😊💛😊

Went to ub40 tribute and what a night we had. Ub40 was amazing and the venue is so well organized. Disney have to Waite long for drinks as its card only and the staff was all lovely. Will definitely be going back

Been a few times and it continues to put on great events, the bar staff work so hard and dont take a break all night, especially on busy nights. Ellie Sax recently was extremely busy, but it was like any other great music venue, busy loud, and a fantastic evening. anyone who wants quite, peaceful, dull and boring will be dissapointed, personally I want somewhere lively, loud & vibrant, I would recommend this hands down.

What a fantastic evening, first time seeing Ellie Sax and she didn’t disappoint. From start to finish the night was first class !! On arrival the staff were welcoming and swift with reducing the queue awaiting to get in. Having visited many music venues around the country l have to say the Smile Bar is certainly one of the best and head and shoulders above more established venues. All the staff are an absolute credit to the owners, everyone of them pleasant and clearly experienced in the job they are doing. The place was busy but well organised, especially the bar service !! Already planning our next visit. Thank you again Smile Bar and see you soon.

We visited The Smile bar tonight for The Ellie Sax night. Amazing night but absolutely shocking venue. Our friend has MS and just needed to sit down for 5 minutes and nobody would let her have a seat anywhere. Really disappointed amd will not be visiting this venue again. So shocking in this day and age you discriminate so badly against anyone with health conditions/ disabilities. Big shout out and Thank you to Callum the bouncer and only person willing to help us. It is much appreciated and well done for going above and beyond when no-one else would!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well how over packed & cramp it was for Ellie Sax. Couldn’t move or breath shoulder to shoulder with everyone. No where was safe from being barged stud on & as for bar 35 mins for 2 drinks costing £19. Couldn’t enjoy Ellie & I love her. Left early due to the chaos of it all. Not enjoyable one bit. Such a shame I had high hopes for place.

My husband & I went to the New Years Eve party here last night it was honestly one of the best nights we have had! It was so well organised & the owners Richard & Marie had thought of absolutely everything to make the evening as perfect as possible. There were little treats all over the tables. There was never a long wait at the bar, even though it was so busy because the staff were so efficient & most of all they were so friendly. They never ran out of anything & were so well prepared & stocked up. And Wow the band Little Britain were absolutely fantastic! Wow! We will definitely be back to see them. They were just brilliant & had the whole 200 people at the venue buzzing & dancing! They are absolutely awesome. Totally interacting with the crowd & a genuine old school band! The venue is so safe, vibrant, plenty of toilets, has amazing sound & lighting and is so well organised. The care & compassion the owners have is second to none. They were born to do this & it shows in the total success of the evening. They put their heart & souls into this place & just genuinely want people to be happy & have a fantastic night! What a credit Smile Bar is to Huddersfield! Thankyou to Richard & Marie and your wonderful staff for an absolutely amazing New Years Eve! It could not have been better & and a Happy New Year to you all!

Great versatile space, but poorly staffed bar so long waits and the staff were as irritated as the customers waiting. Also don't accept cash, which should not be allowed.

Had a fantastic evening with Friends at the Absolute Bowie Gig. Great live music venue but the highlight of Smile Bar is most definitely the owners - Richard and Marie! They were so accommodating and lovely , such down to earth people and if we lived more local we would be back in a heartbeat . Till next time ! 😁

Popped in on my way home from town. I’d been messaging Richard (owner) asking if Smile sold cask ale. Richard had replied promptly, confirming they had a selection of hand pull ale. On arrival I was warmly greeted by Richard and his wife Marie. After ordering a lovely, well kept pint of Magic Rock beer I was given a guided tour of the bar and venue. I also got a fascinating potted history of how Smile has come to be. Much of what you see in terms of fixtures and fittings is upcycled, the slate from the previous owners snooker tables for example now form part of the stage. Richard and Marie great hosts and are really passionate about their venue. I can’t recommend Smile highly enough. Great bar, fab local beers, friendly hosts, good music and pool. What’s not to like? Word up, I hear the Three Degrees will be performing at Smile in Autumn. Suffice to say Smile is my new go to place for a pint or two or three (degrees). 😁

We played here supporting A band called malice with our tribute band BuzzKocks .Brilliant venue that has been lovingly renovated from the former Snooker hall that it was ( The stage is made totally of the tables slate, certainly a quirky and respectful nod to its past).Its a fantastic new venue now , great bars, modern toilets and a brilliant green room for bands.Friendly helpfull staff add to the posatives of this music /food establishment .Hats off to the new owner for creating this gem .

What a venue. Perfect location, reasonably priced drinks. I’ve been here for different events now, bongo bingo, Ellie sax and pre drinks before football. Every single time I’ve not been left down. My favourite place in Hudds.

Visited with friends and the venue was great really loved the vibe and the food was amazing. Staff where very friendly and the place was very clean will be back again

Went to New Year Eve event last night! Great venue, great band called Little Britain playing who were brilliant Not too packed and we were able to get a table which was great Highly recomend and hopefully go again

We had our Christmas Party here on 11th December 2022, and it was absolutely fantastic. Richard and Marie who own the bar, could not have been more accomodating - I cannot thank them enough for helping with organising such a great night. Nothing was a problem, everything we requested was actioned, and they were also just as passionate as us about the event being successful. The service was excellent, the staff are lovely and welcoming, the venue is such a good space, the lighting on the night was amazing! Everything has been thought of. The food was freshly cooked and prepared for us on the evening too. Honestly I cannot fault anything at all about the whole process, 10/10, and I would encourage anyone to get in touch if they are thinking about organising an event, or even just popping down for a pint. There is a lovely bar which serves great food too. There is even a room downstairs with pool tables and shuffleboard! Looking forward to working with Smile Bar again in the future!

First visit to Smile Bar. It was a fun venue with friendly staff and a great live act on. Really looking forward to returning soon.

every time that we go here... the food and drinks are always great, the staff as well are polite and really friendly, we love this place. If you haven't tried it then i do recommend it.. its a totally different venue! ... seriously give it a go! you wont regret it.

Visited a couple of times. Owners are very welcoming and friendly as are the bar staff. Drinks are pricey in comparison to drinks at other venues. Recently had a sandwich and found this to be poor given the price charged. Not likely to be visiting again as nothing special…

Booked in for fathers day lunch/ afternoon tea event -live young singer who was brilliant. Great atmosphere with welcoming and friendly staff-well worth a visit.
