A superb station buffet run by lovely, friendly folk, serving a range of snacks, drinks, and incredibly tasty, and freshly prepared, breakfast sandwiches. A wonderful start to your day!

This place isn't bad but isn't overly good either. Sometimes food is great then you'll go next time and will be let down. Sometimes the owners speak and welcome you, and then other times won't even look at you. So, its a bit of funny one this!

Giant cheese and ham bun for little money, coffee £1.70, aroma of bacon cooking wafting around inviting you in. A little time warp gem. Long may it last.

This is how station buffets used to be before the onset of the overpriced coffee chains. The aroma of bacon butties drifts down the platform. The railway workers are the main clients but a friendly reception is given to any traveler. Quick service and basic fare at a very economical price. Don't miss it - platform 8.

Coffee is instant but price reflects this. Food is simple, cheap and delicious. Always make a point of getting something when using Huddersfield railway station- the large breakfast if I'm sure n the mood to treating myself!

The Station Buffet at Huddersfield belongs to a simpler, better time. A bit tired, a bit rough round the edges - but always clean and always friendly. It's place where you can get a full breakfast with (instant) coffee for about the same price as you'd pay for a large Americano at the Pumpkin Kiosk around the corner. With its old stools and and benches, it's refreshingly unrefurbished too. I've visited many times. Sometimes for quiet cuppa while I'm waiting for my connection, others for a fried egg sandwich on the way to work. It's not to everyone's taste - but I for one will be desperately sorry if it ever goes.

Love this place, proper old style station buffet! Had a bacon sandwich and tea for £3 nicely cooked thick cut bacon plenty of it in a nice fresh west Yorkshire teacake. Washed down with a good strong tea. Value for money and nice old style surroundings go, my kind of place!

A must when you are setting off for the day, visit the station buffet for an excellent tasty sandwich and coffee. Sets you up for the day and much cheaper and nicer than other stand type venues. Staff friendly and accommodating as well.

We were going out for the day on the trains and decided to have a bacon sandwich to start the day. Opening times are variable but is handy for a bit to eat before starting a train journey. It is situated between platforms 4 & 8. Also serves a decent pie as well.

I call in here often for a coffee or hot sandwich whilst waiting for the train. The prices are really reasonable considering its within the train station and on the platform itsself. Really friendly staff too

Only had to time to grab a coffee but like others have mentioned the bacon smelled delicious and if my train wasn't coming I'd have been tempted. As it was for the price the coffee was lovely and the staff friendly.

Quite simply top notch. Having forgot my breakfast this morning a quick call to the wonderful staff at the station buffet meant the signalman didn't go hungry on Xmas eve. Bacon butties to die for, so yummy and cooked "well done" as requested. Even delivered to the Signalbox. Thank you guys!!

During my commute I've had a sausage sandwich from here and thought it average, the sausage not quite tasting as I like, but the bacon sarnies cannot be faulted. The beautifully lean bacon (I guess they cut most of the fat off) is pre-cooked before being warmed through on the griddle to order enabling them to serve it in seconds if you're in a hurry - currently £2.10 with a sauce of your choice. Yummmmmmmmmmm!

off on a breakaway again to Southport, we called at the buffet for sandwiches on our journey. we got 2 cold drinks as well, usual butty for me and a ham for hubby. they are reasonably priced and tasty too, it was quite busy and because its not very big inside, it was snug to say the least. we crossed to our platform to wait for our train. as usual our butties were enjoyed in transit, and kept us going until our meal in the hotel. thankyou we will be calling again soon.

on our travels again, southport was our destination, we bought a tuna salad t. cake,a ham+ onion t. cake, 2 soft drinks + 2 custard slices all for under a tenner, much less than if we had bought from Pumpkin and the like. the butties were devoured with gusto 'en route' the buns survived the journey and were enjoyed with a cuppa at our hotel, all delicious. keep up the good work guys!.

We only had time for tea and coffee but the smell of the bacon butties was very tempting. Staff were very friendly and a good selection of teas (including peppermint), all very reasonably priced. Think we we get to the station early next time to enjoy a bacon bap.

me and hubby called for a butty for our journey to scarborough, freshly made tuna salad sandwich choice of white or brown. plus a chicken salad t. cake . very reasonably priced, we found ourselves returning later as our train was delayed [surprise, surprise] by an hour. we partook of a tea + coffee to keep us going. thank goodness for the buffet! we later ate our butties on route, they were so nice, i'd wished we got another for an hotel snack at our destination.. unfortunately scarborough station couldnt oblige on our return journey, the 'Pumpkin' prices were just a joke! keep up the good work Hudds station buffet.

A railway station buffet doesn't need Michelin stars or elaborate menus to be a success. Just started to use this buffet lured on by a 20 minute wait and the scent of bacon. Their breakfast baps are fresh and full of good quality ingredients including very lean very tasty bacon. Their full breakfasts at between £3 - £5 and tea and cakes for £1.80 are bargains that the traveller tired of corporate greed marvels at.An absolute key is speedy service and you've no sooner to ask and it's there, including even to quite large groups who would phase a less organised couple. Very friendly too, whether to strangers or regulars, of whom there seem a lot. The decor is, well, homely, but it reminds you very clearly that you are on a railway platform, and that can't be bad

I've been using this buffet for over 10 years now. It's off Platform 5 between 5 & 8 and is open very early (0510 ish) even though it says 0600 on the door. The husband and wife team that run it are very friendly and keep a very clean and efficient snack stop. The "bacon sarnie and cup of tea" offer at £2.80 is the one I usually get, although they do anything on request and the Full English Breakfasts look delicious. Popular with commuters and train staff alike, this is a little gem of a place worthy of a visit if you're in Huddersfield.

I stop into the Station Buffet every Thursday for my breakfast butty; bacon, mushroom and black pudding with mustard, and it is made to perfection by the staff, Geraldine, Chris and Izzy, they all either make the sandwiches or serve the drinks and they all make them tasty and satisfying. I can recommend this little piece of heaven to anyone wanting a great sandwich and drink. Cheers guys, Richard.

Hungry travellers stopping off at Huddersfield Railway Station would do well to check out the Station Buffet, which is situated between platform 8 and platform 4. The bacon sandwiches are well presented and the bacon is delicious - not fatty at all. The teacakes (breadcakes depending on where you are from) are fresh and fluffy. You can buy a bacon butty with a coffee for £2.80 - an absolute bargain - to eat in or take away. They offer a selection of hot and cold sandwiches at reasonable prices but once you've had a bacon butty you'll be hooked! I've been there for breakfast for the last two Saturdays and I always go there before my days out on the train.

Always a pleasure visiting here. Great range of soups and reasonably priced coffee £2 or pot of tea £1.60 (Dec '18). The staff are friendly and there's a outdoor seating area which in summer is a real sun trap.

Great selection of craft beers, always changing. Highly recommend 'Neck oil' when it's on. Loads of choice for non beer drinkers too. Not tried the food since it's changed, menu looks good though. Really friendly and helpful staff.
