Renamed Mrs. Rolt's Tearoom now. Very small and quaint in the lovely village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Welcoming and friendly, another family arrived around the same time and were accommodated even with a stroller, as it was quiet.

Small Talk Tea Rooms is a lovely little café. I popped in with a friend for a coffee. Their oat milk latte was made very well and the new owners made everyone feel very welcome. It was the new owners first day of running the tea room by themselves. When I'm back in Bourton-on-the-Water, I'll definitely be visiting again. 🙂

Excellent tradition tea room in a stunning location. Food was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. Had to wait a short while whilst for our food but this is because it’s all served fresh. Fine for us as we want to enjoy the ambience of this charming little tea room and not have a nuke and run lunch. Reasonable prices too We will definitely return.

Open whilst some others have closed for the winter this tea room is primary catering for the passing tourist. A warm friendly welcome from the staff as we dived in during a rain shower and a menu of tearoom basics. Our food was ok, nothing special, and an accompanying “side salad” of lettuce, red onion and a quarter of a hard tomato was poor. If you want a quick bite, of something unprepossessing, then fine. If you want quality ingredients look elsewhere.

We visited this tearoom/restaurant on a very busy day, but did not have to wait too long to be seated. The cream tea came with lovely scones, warmed a little, but with no butter and we were not offered a choice of jam. Nevertheless, the whole ensemble was very good, and we left feeling well satisfied. There was an outside area too, but the atmosphere was better inside. I am sure Miss Marple would have been very happy here!

Both the ladies were super efficient and kind on a very busy lunchtime and we were impressed with the service. Food was good tearoom fair. Whilst it was made clear that the toilets were out of action, when we entered, I am appalled to read in the management’s reply to another review that the toilets have been withdrawn for the long term due to COVID. Small talk is a small cafe with tables close together and wholly unsuitable for anyone who is seriously vulnerable, so this precaution is misplaced, especially in February 2022. Would have been a 5 if the toilets had been open.

We popped in for a coffee and sandwich as passing through this area. The tearoom is small and in this covid world felt claustrophobic. I ordered a sandwich to be told they didn't have that one. We then ordered two toasted sandwiches which we thought were distinctly average. Thin cheap sliced bread. My filter coffee was in a small cup and everything was overpriced. As we were waiting for food a couple came in and didn't wait to be seated as the large stop sign said. The lady serving the next table rolled her eyes, made a comment to them about these customers. Not really very professional! The ladies on another table then asked to use the toilet. They were told that the toilet wasn't working but they could use public toilets up past two shops. They weren't impressed. We left just after and another lady had left a table to use the toilet. I arrived behind her and she was stressed to find out it cost 30p and she hadn't got her money as it was in the cafe with her husband. She said they hadn't told her about the charge and we certainly were not told either. Luckily I had a spare 30p for her.Smalltalk tearooms for me is a place that rests on the fact that this is a tourist area. Overpriced, cramped and very average quality. Looking at other reviews I see the toilet has actually has been out of action for along time. Why not put a notice up ? Meet time I am in the area will check out somewhere else.

Visited today and were made welcome. The jacket potatoes were very good and the tea excellent. However, when we asked where the toilets were we were told they were out of action at the moment and we would have to use the public toilets up the road at a cost of 30p, but they were “very nice”. If we didn’t have 30p the cafe could give it us and then add it to the bill! So, after our visit, we went to said public toilets to be told by the woman looking after them that the cafe toilet had been out of action for about a year, with various excuses given. How do they get away with this? It’s not good enough for premises serving food and drink not to provide toilet facilities. I see from a review on here from December that the toilets were out of order then a it seems there has been no action taken.

Not usually one to leave a review however today after visiting the Smalltalk Tearoom for the first time, I have to share the experience. On entering there was an awkward vibe about the place, kinda like you're an inconvenience for being there. No working toilets at the time either was told to go up the road if you needed the toilet. Milkshake arrived and it was the worst milkshake I have ever tasted in my life. The food arrived (jacket potato) and it was rock hard in the middle. I asked for some butter spread to go with it and the waitress didn't have a clue what I was asking for. Again, really awkward... We left without finishing our food and drinks and wish we'd gone elsewhere. My advice would be to walk about and find somewhere else.

This cafe served me a meal which I then realised I could not eat due to an allergy. Having literally not touched any part of the food, I asked to change my order. At the end of the meal, I was then forced to pay for the meal which I had not (and could not) eat. This is outrageous and unacceptable, not to mention the rude manner in which I was spoken to by staff. If I had wanted to pay for two meals, I would have eaten two meals. Ridiculous.

Probably the worst lasagna I have ever had. The sauce was sweet like me it contained ketchup. No meat content and wet gooie pasta. The centre was cold and the outside hot but I waited so long I couldn’t be bothered to send it back. My husband ordered scrambled eggs on toast which arrive 15 minutes before my lasagna. His meal was a bit better than mine but it was also cold and the scrambled egg was wet. We over heard the waitress say to the manager that some else had complained and she replied ‘Well they eat most of it and they paid and that’s what matters”No one asked if our meal was ok. It wasn’t busy either so it wasn’t like they were under pressure. Very very disappointing.

Hate leaving a not-so-good review but honesty is what it is all about.First the good: two ladies serving could not have been more pleasant - wonderful. Then the bad: I know they were quite busy but a 45 minute wait and then the meals not together is not really acceptable. The average: chilli & rice were OK but the garnish was forgotten! My partner had a bacon & brie toasted sandwich with a side salad which was quite good. Coffee had arrived as soon as we ordered so was drunk by the time the meal arrived although we did have 2 glasses of water.

Popped in for an early lunch and managed to find two tables in 'the courtyard' to seat our party of five. Orders taken and drinks brought reasonably quickly. One table had their food served first and within 15 mins or so, but the second table then waited another 15 mins for theirs so I guess the kitchen works on a table-by-table basis even if there's multiple tables in a group. We ordered various items - sandwiches, omelettes, mac & cheese and paninis - and all was of a good standard albeit it a little lacking in flavour in the case of the mac & cheese and toasted bacon & brie sandwich. Pricing was sensible.

My wife and I called in for a cream tea. Good choice as it was absolutely wonderful. A very popular cafe, so be prepared to have to wait for a table. I would certainly eat there again. Thanks guys for a lovely service.

The small inner courtyard is a hidden delight. I had a ham and cheese omelette. Very very good and also extremely filling. Nicely prepared and good value. A really good find. First class venue,

We came for breakfast twice, and a brunch type meal.Ordered lemon and sugar pancakes each time - fresh off a proper griddle, amazing crepes, i would walk from home in the north east to eat these again. We also had some crumpets and a round of toast with jam, and an afternoon tea.Lovely coffees. We sat in the courtyard at the rear, as we had our dog with us. It was perfect, and a lovely quiet spot in this busy town to relax!

Called into this place for a cream tea and a sit down. All staff were observing Covid rules. We had the Cream Tea, the Scone was moist and very tasty. The tea was refreshing and tasted good. All in all a very nice experience i would not hesitate to go here again and perhaps have lunch... We look forward to out next visit

We had a cream tea here which was lovely. We sat outside in a little square which was very quiet and we had the best homemade scones. Staff were lovely too and all very clean.

A really lovely little tea room in the very centre of the beautiful Village. We found the staff super friendly and everything is cooked while you wait so It’s lovely and fresh. Would certainly go back again - hopefully very soon! Was super hot today - needed an ice cream or two!!! There is plenty to do in Bourton on the Water - lots for kids. Lots of Parking in a pay and display just a 5 minute walk away from village. Plenty of bed and breakfast accommodation for an overnight stay. I Can definitely recommend a visit.

Very clean , nice and cosy , staff nice but let down by cheap quality food , poor quality ham and powdery lasagna , very greasy and inedible , drinks were ok Such a shame as lovely decor and setting ... could be a 5/5 if improvements were made to the food quality , will not be returning , we wondered why all tea rooms and cafes were crowded and busy and this place had plenty of empty tables .... now we know why !!!

This is a really welcome, beautifully renovated addition to the area. A warm and friendly local with stone walls and open fires. Food is very good, modern pub style at a very reasonable price for The Cotswolds. Staff are very friendly and efficient and the clientele are a great combination of locals at the bar, people eating and walkers, cyclists etc calling in for a pint. Been several times since it reopened and all have been good.

Served a Biarra Moretti, didn’t look right, went back to the bar to complain, was told there was nothing wrong with the pint and no chance of changing. Batman very rude.
