1 star is more than they should get - had a wardrobe malfunction and my phone and ID ended up in a pocket and the zip broke, asked if they had a pair of scissors or something to help get it out. instead they made me rip open the interior of my pocket with my teeth as they didn’t “have time to talk to me”. very unhappy with my experience

Elliot, Amanda, Brooke, Begs and Jerusha are the best! They made the slugs experience one to remember. Makes me think they should get a reward or something for being so amazing!

When I saw the restaurant I was skeptical, but I can say that the food is really tasty and the staff is very friendly. I booked for 8:00 pm and it was early (an hour before), but they let me sit and order. The place is nice, also very big. It was an unexpected surprise, I thought the dinner would be bad, instead I had a good time and ate well.

Elliot was incredible with our group and made us feel very welcome! He makes a good espresso martini too. If you are paying a visit to Slug and Lettuce, make sure to ask for Elliot!

What an unforgettable evening at Slizzin’ Lettuce! From the moment we walked in, we felt completely at home. It was my little cousin’s 19th birthday, and what could have been just another night out turned into something truly special — all thanks to CJ behind the bar. CJ crafted a margarita that wasn’t even on the menu, and it was honestly one of the best we’ve ever had. He took the time, asked the right questions, and just got it. You don’t find that kind of attention and talent every day. His warmth, creativity, and genuine care for our experience made all the difference. Not only were the drinks top-tier, but CJ also made our group — from cousins to close friends — feel like we were celebrating in our own living room. That kind of hospitality is rare, and it deserves to be recognized. Slizzin’ Lettuce, you’ve got a real gem in CJ. He’s not just mixing drinks — he’s creating memories. Get this man a raise — he’s earned it tenfold.

Such a fun cocktail class, full of laughter and drinks great value for money

Drinks ordered to table never arrived. Asked staff member after 40 minutes and showed him the confirmation on the app, rather than getting the drinks for us he said "if you didn't get an email, it hasn't went through", while looking at my app confirmation, and I was charged. Had a show to make so had to leave without our drinks or any refund/compensation. Partner tried to get drinks from the bar in the meantime, took around half an hour to be served there. Felt sorry for the staff, understaffed on a busy Friday while an entire second bar remained closed. Really disappointing.

This was the last time coming to slug in lettuce. Food wasn't cooked properly for 75% of our main dishes. Wife and daughter were sick that evening. It was busy and probably the reason. Seemed chaotic. What really annoyed us was 5 mins into our mains someone came round and placed a reserved card for the next customers on the table. Made us feel we were to leave. Still had 50 mins of our time and just started mains. The table we had was small as it is! I've brought my company staff here a few times, not any more. Was not a comfortable place to enjoy a meal.

Ross was fantastic tonight for our bottomless brunch ! The service was fantastic constantly had drinks in front of us :)

Had a fantastic visit to Slug and Lettuce on George street! The atmosphere was lively, and the service was exceptional. Our server, Andrew, was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend for a fab night out!

Me and my friend had a great experience and fun during our time here. Joe was very friendly, chatty, and made the whole time a memorable one while looking after us throughout the night with excellent service and making sure we never had empty glasses. This was an awful experience, burgers and fries were cold, unsalted. “Brownie” tasted like a box mix improperly mixed - not enough eggs or oil - dry and bitter. While we were a very large group we ordered and booked weeks in advance. I would rate zero stars if possible.

Can't rave about this cocktail bar enough had a great experience here I was worried that because I hadn't booked I'd be turned away but they found space for me and even though they were clearly very busy they turned the tables extremely well and handled the pressure like champs. We had a food allergen at the table which was handled with great care by Lora who just very brilliant and attentive and very funny. We had some fantastic cocktails almost too cute to drink! Cheapest place on George Street! Service was alot quicker than I expected it to be considering how busy it was! Massive thank you for a great night will definitely be back again soon! <3

Not enough staff waited ages to get served at the bar

Avoid, company need to review their recruitment. Especially with aggressive people in charge (apparently his name was Ross) who got extremely defensive and intimidating when we asked for the complaints procedure and to the speak with the manager. We had a really disappointing experience at Slug & Lettuce Edinburgh, george street. We had booked a cocktail-making class with a group but arrived late While the staff had kindly accommodated the rest of the group, which we were very thankful for, when my friend and I arrived, the person in charge was immediately rude and dismissive and refused to serve us for no valid reason. We didn’t expect to join the class at that point—we only wanted to have a drink with our group. Instead of handling the situation professionally, they escalated things and even threatened to call the police when we simply asked to speak to a senior staff member. We were not aggressive or causing any issues, just trying to understand why we were being refused service. From that moment on, the staff wouldn’t even engage with us rationally, it was totally unnecessary. We had an excellent time in Edinburgh, but I would strongly suggest avoiding this place. It was the only venue we visited where the staff were openly rude and unwelcoming. Do not recommend unless you want to be treated like dirt!

Half the bar isn’t serving. The other half is 7-8 deep. One bar reserved for “boozy brunch” drinks only. Table service was slow. Asked for a manager - our food and drinks took 2 hours to come. No manager appeared. Can’t order to table using a waiter- have to use the app but WiFi is shit and no signal. Food OK. Not again.

A great after work drink and a bite to eat. Staff were friendly and helpful. Special shout out for Andrew, Begs and Brooke who were all very welcoming and gave good service. Food was delivered quickly and was hot and tasty. Good range of drinks for all tastes, it is a large venue so not sure what it would be like when really busy, but tonight it was quiet enough for us to chat and there were good tunes playing in the background.

Table booked 1.30-3. All arrived sharp and ordered food 1.45. Got food at 2.30!! 2.32 server put reserved on table fir 3.15. I explained we just received food after long wait, free table behind us, no, for off street people. Rude. Asked for manager. 20mins later, asked for manager! Said we’d need to leave I said no, we haven’t even finished our food since we waited so long. Not allowed to give empty tables away to bookings. Poor services, management and organisational skills!

We arrived early, and our table was ready right away. The cocktail menu was extensive, featuring a variety of options, including festive Christmas specials—there was truly something for everyone. In addition to cocktails, there were plenty of other drink options available. The restaurant also offered several different menus with a wide variety of food choices. We decided to go with the small plates to share, along with a few cocktails from the Christmas specials section. Since we had paid a deposit, we needed to go up to the bar to apply it to our food and drinks. The restaurant and bar area had plenty of seating and was clean and well-maintained. The toilets were also very nice and spotless. Overall, it was a great experience!

Booked a table for 15 people so our rugby team could get together before the semester ends and did the Christmas dinner buffet option. The food we choose was delicious and quick to arrive at our table! Thank you Begs for being an awesome server and making sure it all ran smoothly! We really enjoyed the christmas hats and prosecco provided!

Went for brunch. I couldn't have a coffee as they didn't have any hot water. My daughter ordered eggs Benedict but they didn't have any Hollandaise sauce. It didn't stop them bringing it to the table and apologising rather than coming to her earlier to see if she wanted to order something else. My fried breakfast was mediocre.
