Slow Rise in Lincoln

We had a superb experience when we went as a group of seven. Pizzas were excellent - just the right ratio of crispy thin base and delicious toppings. The service was spot on. Quite relaxed and easy-going, but attentive and efficient. We had a very enjoyable evening.

If you are in Lincoln and like pizza, do visit Slow Rise. Fabulous Neapolitan style vegetarian pizzas, cooked to order. Lovely clean premises. Absolutely delicious!

BE VERY AWARE THIS RESTAURANT IS FOR THE JOSS STICK LIGHTING, TIE DYE SPECIALISTS, WHO ARE PROBABLY INTO SAVE THE ANT AND TREE HUGGING. THERE IS NO MEEEEEAAAT ! ITS A VEGGIE PLACE, NO PEPPERONI, NO NDUJA, NO MENTION OF IT BEING EXCLUSIVELY VEGGIE. The service was good and the atmosphere reasonably pleasant. I don't want to be unkind, so all I'll say is that we didn't enjoy the food. We ordered the hot and spicy pizza, and it was neither. It was very sweet and quite sickly and not at all Chipotle (as I believe it was described on the menu) I am astonished by the amount of overly positive reviews, maybe this should have been a warning sign. Also a pizza restaurant offering sriracha sauce as a "dip" for a pizza should have set the alarm bells ringing. This experience was entirely my own mistake and I make no criticism of the staff. I wish them well. This is a truly honest and fair review of our experience.

This place deserves every single 5 star review! I rarely rate something unless it’s exceptional and this place will be a regular for us now. Price is very fair. Pizzas are absolutely perfection and the toppings are incredible. We are regular travels and go to Italy often and I can confidently say this is the best pizza we’ve ever had. Cocktails are spot on, sides were delicious. Slow Rise was the topic of convo for the rest of our evening! We sat opposite the chefs and the manager (who I assume was the manager) inspected every single pizza making sure it was to standard. He even sent one back in to be cooked for a further 5 seconds just because it was “slightly” on the soft side. I mean, you can see why this place is so highly rated, they keep their standards high. Don’t change a single thing, ever!!

Slow Rise Pizza: Lincoln's Hidden Gem I recently visited Slow Rise Pizza in Lincoln and was completely blown away by the experience. Having just moved from Nottingham where I've tried many great pizza places, I can honestly say Slow Rise is something special. The restaurant, founded by couple Rosie and Lewis, started as a mobile catering business in 2019 before adapting during COVID lockdowns to become a takeaway service from their garden. They've since grown into their permanent location on St Martin's Lane, and it's easy to see why they've become so popular. My family and I visited last Sunday and shared the Smokey and Italian pizzas, adding burrata to one for a little extra indulgence. The Smokey pizza with its Snowdonia smoked cheddar, crispy sage, and chipotle maple was incredibly flavorful, while the Italian with homemade pesto and cherry tomatoes was fresh and vibrant. The slow-proved dough makes all the difference - light, airy and perfectly charred. The sides were equally impressive. I tried the sriracha mayo which complemented the pizzas perfectly. For dessert, the Biscoff tiramisu was mind-blowingly good - I'd go back just for that alone! Drinks were excellent too, with a nice selection of beers and delicious mocktails. The only small drawback is they don't have a coffee machine for an Italian coffee after the meal, but that's hardly a deal-breaker. Our server Chris deserves special mention - he was attentive, knowledgeable and made the whole experience even better. What really stands out about Slow Rise is that it's completely vegetarian, proving you don't need meat for incredible flavor. For anyone in Lincoln or passing through, this place is an absolute must-visit. I've already planned my return!

In terms of atmosphere, eating PROPER pizza on a picnic blanket provided by the restaurant is pretty cool. If you like flavour, slow rise it folks.

Artisan pizzas with top quality ingredients. Very friendly people. We had the beetroot pizza and the smoky one, as well as the arancini and the rhubarb tiramisu, everything was 10/10!

Small place very noisy and where pizza is not pizza is naan bread with cheese and spices. Overall,it had an good taste.

This pizza was the best I’ve ever had in my whole life - no exaggeration. I normally like a sauce to go with my pizza but this one didn’t need it. The staff were happy to accommodate customised requests which was amazing. I had a half garlic mushroom and half Stilton and mushroom. The pistachio tiramisu was also to die for! We aren’t local to the area but will be back end of Feb for another visit !

I mean, really not much else to say other than this was some of the best pizza I have ever eaten outside of Italy! Staff were superb, service was perfectly efficient, not too pushy and not too slow. The restaurant has a lovely, informal atmosphere. But the pizza really is the star. I went for the Truffle Mushroom and every bite was mouth-watering. My companions all picked something different, including a vegan pizza, and everything looked delicious. I highly recommend the pesto dip for crusts too! Overall, we had a fab time and I will definitely make another visit when back in Lincoln!

It used to be the best in Lincoln but the last 3 times the food has been bland. Lovely staff but the ingredients taste cheap with no flavour now. Since the expansion it seems they have cut cost on essential ingredients and it really shows. Pizza sauce - flavourless. Cheese - flavourless. Olive oil - flavourless. Tiramisu - flavourless. Even the Black pepper - flavourless so it's probably old. The only thing that has flavour now is the garlic aioli. Shame. This seems to be the same everywhere now. Cut costs cheap ingredients but pay full price. Not fair.

What a lovely little pizzeria. All veggie/vegan but wow the flavors. We had the mushroom truffle & the garlic mushroom, absolutely lush. They are big, but what a great breakfast of you take them home. Don't forget to leave room for the Tiramisu as our amazing

We chose this restaurant because of the reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren’t disappointed. We turned up at 5pm and were able to get a table, though it was busy. As a non meat eater, it was lovely to have the pick of the menu! Both pizzas were delicious, the service was very good and it was very reasonably priced.

We had the privilege of trialing out Slow Rise pizza in the very early days and it has been fantastic to see how their business has grown over the years. Our recent family meal at their restaurant was really enjoyable. ## The Place & Staff The venue is done out really nicely, and all the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. ## Starters We went for two types of arancini, sun-dried tomato and truffle flavours. Both of which were delicious (truffle being particularly great). We also had the scamorza sticks which came with a tasty, hot dip. ## Pizzas There were lots of options to choose from. We ended up going for the special - which had an Asian twist to it and the hot and spicy pizza. Both were really tasty the dough is thin with perfect crusts. (Would recommend trying the different dips they offer for the crusts!) ## Dessert Even though we were pretty full, we managed to try the biscoff tiramisu - definitely worth making room for! All in all, we had a fab time at Slow Rise. The food was great, and we'd love to visit again soon. Thanks guys 😊

First time at slow rise a week ago and everything is fantastic. I love sourdough pizzas and the toppings are varied and delicious. I had the hot and spicy, which was amazing, and shared the special, also excellent. All the pizzas look great so it's one to come back to and go through the menu as they all look like winners. Mocktails are really great too as well as the tiramisu. Everything feels very homemade and of a really high standard. Done out amazingly and great location in the centre. Well done guys, will be returning when next in Lincoln.

Went without booking and they managed to fit us in, booking definitely recommend as it's really popular. The Mediterranean pizza was fantastic, great fresh flavours with a lovely light base. My husband also enjoyed his Goats Cheese pizza. Lincolns little gem!!

I’ve been meaning to leave a review for these guys for ages but am only just getting round to it. However, in the time it’s taken me, I’ve had chance to try every special for the last 6 months and eat more Smokeys than I can count. This place is legit the best pizza I’ve ever had. Bar none. The dough is ridiculous and the toppings are awesome. Not only that, the staff - whether it be the waiters/waitresses, the chefs or the guys making deliveries - are all spot on. We’ve been given tasters, free deserts and beers which is absolutely not necessary to keep us coming back (as the pizza is that darn good) but it means a lot. Best. Spot. In. Town.

Little gem just off the beaten track, like 30 seconds off it. Like pizza you'll like slow rise. Super staff and service a succinct menu with authentic roots and amazing pizza.... What's not to like? The price? Nope even that is great. Pop in give em a try and surprise yourself with real pizza 🍕 oh oh just a minute did I mention the tiramisu? Thought not.... Slow Rise is my favourite place in the world. The pizza is the best I have ever had, nay, it's the best food in the world. I look forward to my crusts here, especially when there's sriracha mayo or garlic aioli. The arancini has been fantastic in all its forms, and the scamorza sticks? With that chilli jam?! Wow! They just keep making cheese better. There is literally no need for any meats here, they treat vegetables with such love that it would ruin the flavours that they have so perfected. Or just do what my partner occasionally does and add your own prosciutto at home. We have eaten in and ordered for delivery more times than I care to count, but the care they show for their pizzas clearly applies to their customers too. One time I had ordered for delivery, and got two garlic breads when I had ordered one, because the first had a miniscule tear on it so they had sent us both. If you've tried their garlic bread then you can imagine how I felt that day. I literally cannot recommend a place more, it almost feels homely with how friendly everyone is and how many times I have visited. I'm ordering again tonight.

We've been here a couple of times, from a small space to now a bigger restaurant. Both time a the service was excellent. The food itself is delicious and well made. They also do gluten free options, but require a days notice. The tiramisu is to die for. Reasonably priced. We will go again I'm sure.

There isn't a bad word I can say about this restaurant, I'm not over exaggerating when I say they're the best pizzas I've ever had; I could eat here everyday! Every time we visit both the service and the food are exceptional, never once have we experienced a drop-off in quality and we come here often! As a vegetarian I really like being able to eat everything on a menu for once! The relaxed environment is something that I like as well, and I'm really enjoying the expanded space and the new refurbishments. Give it a go if you're in the area, you definitely won't regret it!

I've been ordering from them since their humble beginnings during COVID when they had to pivot to deliveries from an event based business, and I'm a vegetarian so I'm biased. Slow rise is the best pizza shop in Lincoln, if not the country. Yes, they are more expensive than a supermarket or 'branded' pizza, but you're paying for quality, and quality you get in abundance. Their sourdough bases are consistently perfect, chewy, crispy, with very 'dipable' crusts. The toppings are varied and exciting, so even the most devout of meat eater can find something they like. Their truffle Arancini is an absolute delight. Crispy outside and soft and flavourful on the inside. A great starter. Their tiramisus are delicious. Light and packed full of flavour, and the flavours change regularly with the seasons. I've yet to eat in, as it's always busy, which tells you something about how good they are. Get a take away, you'll enjoy it and be back for more.

Recently expanded with more tables and the pizza is really the very best in the midlands and must be among the top in the U.K.. Every pizza on the menu is great and well-balanced. The ‘sweet pea’ special on atm has a particularly light, refreshing taste with an innovative pea and lemon base.

We were visiting Lincoln for the weekend and reserved at Slow Rise for Friday night, based on Trip Advisor Reviews. The vibe was relaxed and fun and we were warmly welcomed into a very well air conditioned restaurant. Thankful for this on a warm evening. Beer on draft was cold and the quality of the pizza ingredients and preparation was clearly high. As a vegetarian, it was a complete delight to be able to eat absolutely everything on the menu. But there were a few small niggly issues, which were out of kilter with this being Lincoln’s number 2 restaurant. Drink orders were slow to be taken and even slower to be delivered. The table was not wiped down before we were seated - we had to ask for this to be done, and menus remained sticky. We ordered sparkling water, which never materialiaed, however appeared on the bill. All little things really, but I guess when you are rated so highly, expectations are high. I know Slow Rise will sort these glitches out as they are clearly a great, professional set up, who care about what they do.

I say this so sincerely this is the best pizza place I’ve ever frequented. You WONT believe it when you eat here you’ll be like wow this place isn’t real is it? But it is. Magic.

Absolutely what I needed. If you like wood fired ‘proper’ pizza with a twisted love of cocktails and Italian food this is a must. Their twist on an old fashioned is great.

Dropped in on Saturday around 2.30pm on the off chance there were tables free, and there were in the newly opened bit! We sat in and were immediately greeted and lead to our table by a lovely lady. She was really friendly without being overbearing, very chilled out and made sure we were aware of the specials. She was happy to allow for tweaks to the pizzas too, which was great. Our pizzas looked and smelled amazing, and tasted delicious! They were absolutely loaded too - mine flopped in the middle just from the weight of the toppings! Absolutely gorgeous, and plenty of sauce in a pot to dip those lovely hot crusts in. We had the Smokey, the Mediterranean, and garlic aioli, and I also had a cucumber and elderflower nojito, which was so yummy, really fresh and light. We HAD to have dessert of course - homemade tiramisu from the owners mum! Again we were shown all options, and one of us went for the classic while the other had mango passionfruit…. Both were light but rich, and so good we didn’t say a word while eating 😂 We left very full, and very happy with the price too - around £20 each, which was really good for how absolutely stuffed we were! Very worth a visit, we’ll definitely be back again.

We are so lucky to have this gem in Lincoln! Myself and my partner went for the garlic mushroom with burrata and the smokey and halved them between us and we would say they were some of the nicest pizzas we’ve ever had! The smoked scamorza sticks were good, although the dip was way too spicy for me but they’re good enough on their own if you don’t like spice 🌶️ The mango and passion fruit tiramisu was divine. The restaurant does feel very small but as the evening went on and it got a bit quieter, the vibes were cosy and chilled and the music was top tier for me. Overall absolutely fantastic and we will be back 🍕😌

Phenomenal pizza in the heart of Lincoln. The crust has the perfect mix of air, chew and crisp and was cooked perfectly. They offer sauces for dipping, but honestly, I you really don't need them. The pizza is great as is. I do think this place is a must try. If you do eat in, it is a good idea to reserve a table ahead of time as it is quite small. I did also like the option to borrow a picnic blanket to eat in the park across the street. The fresh tiramisu was a great way to cap off my meal. Food 5 Service 5 Atmosphere 5

I've visited slow rise numerous times, most recently for my anniversary and they are excellent every time! Every pizza I have ordered from them has been delicious, they are all neapolitan style and I consider them the most reasonably priced place to get high-quality pizza in Lincoln. The inside is somewhat small, though it is not overwhelming and feels rather cosy. When the weather is nice, they provide picnic blankets to enjoy the sun in the green across from the restaurant which I would highly recommend!! The tiramisu is also just fantastic, I've never had one quite like it. The restaurant also provides fantastic vegetarian and vegan options as the entire menu is vegetarian with vegan alternatives for everything. The pizzas and desserts are also available gluten free given that you phone ahead.

Amazing pizza, the dough is so springy but not dense, and great toppings. Asked for the vegan option & the cheese was probably the best I’ve had, not cloying or odd tasting, just delicious. Wanted to eat in but fully booked (midweek!) so got takeaway. Recommend booking.

What a fabulous pizza restaurant/takeaway. It is opposite a little park and they provide picnic rugs for you to borrow and sit/eat on the grass. Such a simple yet wonderful idea. The service was excellent, food amazing, and just an overall fabulous experience on a glorious sunny day 😎🍕

The pizza was really nice. Was sat on a bar side so was awkwardly sitting facing the same way as the rest of our group. You could see the staff make the pizzas in front of you but felt too close to enjoy talking with family or friends privately. It's a small/cosy restaurant.

The ingredients and the taste of the pizza were delicious, unfortunately the pizza dough was very chewy and burnt. The reason of burnt pizza is that the trays were not cleaned properly .This was my second time I ordered pizza from this place and the same problem occurs every time so again I felt disappointed. It's a beautiful and atmospheric place, but I won't order pizza from there again.

Really good pizzas - we had the garlic mushroom and four cheese. Both were really well done, with a properly good base and well chosen toppings. We thought the four cheese was particularly good, with the stronger cheeses balanced against the mild. Price is good as well. Their Android app is about as easy as it gets for ordering. Collection is from a window and they give you a buzzer so you can wait in a car. We got one starter that we thought was OK, but not brilliant. Still tasty, just not as good as the pizza. Not enough to complain about, never mind asking for a refund. Next morning, we had a text from Slow Rise, and they had proactively refunded the starter because they felt it wasn't up to scratch. Top!

Ordered take out from Slow Rise for the first time tonight. We opted for the Smokey and the Stilton & Mushroom and both were absolutely delicious. As people who usually go for meaty pizzas we weren’t sure what to expect, but were so pleasantly surprised by how flavourful our choices were. We also had the truffle arancini (should’ve ordered 2!) and the cheesy garlic strips, along with a raspberry tiramisu for after. The tiramisu (I chose the no coffee option) was light and delicious, and the perfect sweet treat to finish off our meal. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit the restaurant soon!

Pizzas are always incredibly tasty, their ever-changing tiramisù creations are so unique and delicious, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Can't fault anything at Slow Rise, be it for takeaway or eat-in!
