Here recently, disappointed with portion size, Atmosphere lacking , too expensive for what you recieve

This is a real gem to find in Lincoln. Food and service 110% throughout. Went for our wedding anniversary and certainly going back soon, beef was excellent so need to try other options now. And not expensive

Went to Lawson's for a reunion dinner with some old friends. They did us proud! We were a group of 20 and they were very accommodating and organised; no problems ordering in advance (from the full menu, not just from a limited menu or set menus, unlike many places when catering for a large group); drinks in the bar area before the meal; we were then seated on two large tables in part of the upstairs area - not quite a private room, though it felt much like it. Staff were excellent at the table and the bar (not easy when you're a large group), as was the food (including vegan and gluten free options). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We do this at some time every year in various places and this has to be one of the best places we've been to, so a big thank you to all involved.

My friend and I enjoyed a really fabulous and leisurely three-course lunch at Lincoln’s. All of the food was delicious, with good sized portions which we felt offered excellent value for money. The staff were lovely and the ambiance was perfect. I can definitely recommend.

What a refreshing change. A busy restaurant on a Friday night serving absolutely fabulous food in a wonderful atmosphere. The food we had was a revelation and very good value. I was bowled over by the cheese souffle and the salmon. My friend was equally pleased with the bruschetta and the roasted cauliflower she had for mains. Altogether, it was a wonderful night, and we can't wait to return.

Our son is studying at Lincoln uni so as he moved back after summer booked Lawson’s as a treat. Wow it was amazing. We had the lunch menu which was still available at 6:15. Will be going back every time we pick him up or drop off.

I almost don’t want to review this place for fear that it will become too popular but in the interest of being honest I can only say- THIS PLACE IS OUTSTANDING! the food was nothing short of exceptional. By far and away the most authentic restaurant in Lincoln. Service was excellent and as for the food- I’m lost for words. It’s just unbelievable how they can make food that tastes so good! We had 3 courses and nothing was left! Totally amazing. If I could rate it ten stars out of 5 then I would give it 11. Can I come and live there please? Well done team Lawsons xxx

This is my 4th visit to Lawson's and I have given them a 5 star rating every other time. Today, however, I felt a bit let down. My daughter ordered a scotch egg which states it's a soft boiled egg but when she cut into it the white of the egg was under cooked and partially running. The waiter took it back to the kitchen but instead of replacing it it had just been put back in the oven! For main my daughter ordered the salmon, leek and pea au gratin. It looked fabulous but had clearly been reheated in the microwave and was far too hot to eat. Sorry Lawson's but I was disappointed today.

Went here tonight with friends for my birthday, well well what a beautiful place to visit we went before 6.30 so got the 3 courses for £21 each! The food quality is amazing,the beef melted in the mouth, we had different plates so please check the pics out the mushroom starter was so tasteful, will be visiting here again couple of steps down inside so people with mobility problems be aware, when booking nake them aware as another part of the restaurant upstairs

Excellent value for money lunch

Came with my wife for our wedding anniversary. Fabulous meal, great service. Blade of beef and pork belly were amazing. White chocolate brule was one of the best deserts I’ve had.

Anne & Anne came to Lawsons for the first time yesterday and loved everything about this restaurant, most especially the food, which was absolutely gorgeous, will definitely be returning.

Had lunch with my wife after spotting the board whilst walking down Steep Hill. We both had the two course lunch which was superb in all respects and at an extremely reasonable price. Brilliant service as well.

I was very surprised with Lawsons. I wasn't expecting much, as soon as I approached the bar I was greeted with a cheery smile. The staff are very attentive. The menu isn't extensive, but a good variety of different meats including vegetarian options.

Went for dinner last night. The staff were super friendly and very informative. They brought our dog a treat and water upon arrival. The food was very clean showing a good standard of produce. Great place to eat near Lincoln Cathedral. Whilst the rest of the UK watched England's Euro2024 semi-final my wife and I had a quiet dinner here!! The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient.

Really enjoyed the food here. Original and traditional at the same time. A beautiful old timber beamed building. Very friendly service from our waiter, Aris, and the waitress whose name I didn’t catch.

Our first visit, staff were so helpful and attentive as soon as we arrived, lovely surroundings a great atmosphere. Meals and drinks arrived quickly, starters were very nice. Main meals arrived after a short break and looked very nice I had chicken strips cooked in a creamy Tarragon sauce with potoato and a decent bowl of mixed summer vegetables all nice and hot. Was very very tasty and decent portions. There were 5 of us together and all meals were delivered together and enjoyed by everyone. Deserts were very nice and once again decent portions. The service by the waiter and waitress was spot on very polite and attentive. Venue choices were varied and fantastic choices available. We all agreed we would visit again very soon to try something different off the venue. Nothing to fault at all from any of us which is unusual. Highly recommend 👌

We were in Lincoln for a few days and having had lunch many months ago I wanted to return for Dinner. We were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming and pleasant but not too pushy. Just the right balance. The food was lovely and the cheese soufflé for starters was amazing. There was too much for the Portobello mushrooms for mains and had to leave some for the pudding which was delicious. When in Lincoln again we will return.,

This is probably the best restaurant in Lincoln. All the dishes were cooked to an exceptional standard. The 10oz ribeye with an outstanding serving of pepper corn sauce was spot on, Forget the small pots you get else where, having the extra to mop up with your chips juts hits the spot for me. The beef blade simply could of not been cooked better it was so tender you only need a fork to eat it. Not one of our party of four could find any issue at all with the top quality of the food served. The kitchen here knows how to cook food. The staff were very polite and help full. The place it self is nice and provides a good dining experience. I think the price is a fair match for the quality of food. If you are looking for somewhere special to take a partner for a good night out this is the venue, You will not be disappointed. I guess the best review statement is we are going back again :)

My partner and I went here for dinner. When we entered the staff were Soo nice and seated us at our table. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was amazing. We recommend anyone wanting to try here.

Good food, but the starter and vegetable sides could have benefited from more seasoning, and the main course from being hot! After all the gushing reviews, we’d been expecting a little bit more and a cosier atmosphere.

After 1 month of travelling through Norfolk and the fen country, this was the best restaurant food we have found, by far. Very reasonable price. Excellent food and service. Lovely old dinning rooms. Congratulations to the chef and staff. This is a must go restaurant if you are in Lincoln.

I thought surely all the 5 star reviews can't be right, and I was correct... But they don't let you give 6 stars out of 5! It was one of the best meals I've ever eaten, we didn't need knifes with our mains and that's not because of the urge to unhinge our jaws like a snake and eat it whole, it just fell apart. 10/10 would come again.

My family had a lovely visit to Lawson’s a few weeks ago. The staff were extremely kind and attentive. The food was incredible. We started with the soup of the day which was so flavourful and the texture was perfect. For mains, we tried the braised beef, salmon, and chicken strips, all of which were phenomenal. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Lincoln!

Lovely food. I can recommend the blade of beef. The beef was perfectly cooked, beautifully moist and tender.

Had our luncheon here off a set menu I had fish cake and mrs had scotch egg to start was super delicious for mains I had beef with gravy mash and veg mrs had some sort of cheese coated salmon didn’t have pudding no room left great serve great price will come back again soon

We’ve lived in lincoln our whole lives and can’t believe we haven’t visited before! Lawson’s is in a beautiful location with great interior and lovely staff. We had a super friendly welcome, incredible food that was full of flavour and a really nice, relaxed atmosphere whilst we sat in the window which was lovely. The staff were brilliant, attentive but not intrusive and always with a smile on their faces! We had the two course lunch menu which was great value for money and something we would 100% return for to try more items.

Really liked this place. Reasonable prices, great food. Brilliant starter of cheese soufflé (served with six vegetables on the side which wasn't necessary), then very nice cauliflower risotto. Dessert was a lemon posset which was delicious.

One of my favourite places in Lincoln. The 2 and 3 course lunch menu is such incredible value. Quality over quantity with the menu options. Never had a bad meal or service their yet.

We came in just for drinks and asked for bar snacks. After paying for our drinks they bought us a little platter of olives, chips and bread and butter free of charge! Such a lovely little place and such a nice atmosphere. Nice and quiet unlike other places on a Saturday night. 100% recommend! Lovely staff, lovely food and nice strong cocktails

Stunning little place. Some of the best food I've had in a long time. The salmon gratin was amazing. Very friendly and attentive service, they answered any questuojs and even helped with the offers they has on to save us some money. Good choice of drinks as well including a local beer. Wow, what a gem of a place. Arrived as a couple with our 8 month old on a Sunday, booking just 10 min before arrival. As soon as we entered the staff were so attentive and made us feel so welcome. We had the 3 course lunch menu and the chef has created some amazing dishes at such an affordable price. Nothing was too much for the staff on service and welcomed being able to tip them for how relaxed they made the whole experience. Highly recommend to anyone with young children that want to experience fine dining and still have those special meals out without the need for babysitters. Thank you Lawsons for giving us a fantastic end to our weekend break! You certainly did not disappoint...

We went for dinner on a Saturday night. On arrival we felt it was a bit too brightly lit for a restaurant but we were led upstairs where it was a little more subdued. The staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive, and there were plenty of them. I had black pudding and haggis bon bons, and Mrs D had the cheese soufflé. Both were rich and full of flavour. For mains, I had the blade of beef and Mrs D had the salmon. Again, rich and full of flavour, and the mash was silky smooth. This was accompanied by a good quality bottle of Malbec (reasonably priced at £25) and followed by sorbet, cheeseboard, brandy, port and coffee. You could get an evening 2-course meal here for £30 or, as we did, go full in at £55pp. In my 15 years’ experience of eating out in Lincoln, Lawson’s is definitely in my top 3 dining experiences and I will be returning.

Lovely old building sympathetically restored. Charming and unobtrusive staff. Let's get one thing straight. The food is superb. Excellent menu choice, I'm going to come back and try the dishes I couldn't pick, believe me this place deserves this. Chicken and beef blade were excellent but a special mention for the soufflé. This was so good it was close to a religious experience. I live 70 miles away, but will spend a weekend in Lincoln to come. Well done guys, you've obviously tried hard to get it right and it's totally appreciated

We went to Lawsons with some visiting family this evening, first of all the food was absolutely delicious and we all said really good value for money. We had food from the set/deal menu (2 courses for £16 or 3 for £20). This is the 5th or 6th time that me and my wife had been and we’ve never had a bad meal yet. The service was also quick and staff are lovely. Couldn’t fault it at all. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in Lincoln.

We visited pre theatre and was blown away with the service and food. Would highly recommend if you are visiting Lincoln.

Lovely piece of salmon (also a huge portion, so kudos on it being cooked so well, too). The salmon came with enough that the meal didn't really need the accompanying side veg, which was a shame as the red cabbage was some of the best I've tasted, but was too full to fit more in. Good selection of beer on tap also.

Had the chicken and the salmon both cooked well but didn’t understand the stale dry bread and slab of butter it comes with? Also boiled veg as a side that isn’t with the menu? Rank. The most disappointing part was the service. Asked if we can order food and drinks at the same time this would apparently take longer? Ordered a bottle of wine didn’t get to try it first luckily it was drinkable. When the food came out it was plonked on the table and no “enjoy your food” or would you like anything else. Disappointing as looks great online

Lovely atmosphere and attentive service! The staff could not do enough for us. We ordered a starter, main and dessert. My partner was really happy with all of his food however we both found the sauces of all the plates very rich. Unfortunately, allowing us both not to eat some of the meat/potatoes of our main meal/starters. However, we understand this is personal preference but if you aren’t a fan of rich gravy (tasting like BBQ sauce) I would ask for it on the side. Good value for money aswell. Thank you again!

Great food. First time here and will definitely be returning

My husband and I visited this lovely bistro for a midweek lunch and were blown away by the quality of the food and value for money. The ambience is charming - a olde worlde building typical of the area with traditional interior, real dried flowers on the table and a great selection of background music. We enjoyed two courses from the lunch time menu - beef Bon bons and creamy chicken for me and scotch egg and ribs for my husband. All of the courses were fresh, tasty, piping hot and beautifully presented. I can’t quite believe it was just £16 each. You would do well to eat at a chain pub for that price and this food was infinitely better quality. The service was great and I’m really pleased we stumbled across this little gem. We will certainly return next time we are in Lincoln.

We really enjoyed Lawsons. Dining early when we first arrived we were the only people in the restaurant and we feared the worst. However others soon arrived and a pleasant atmosphere was created. The food was excellent certainly the best we had during our stay in Lincoln. All the dishes were very well prepared and presented and based around good quality ingredients.Throughly recommend if you are in Lincoln.

What a fabulous bistro. We managed to get a last minute Saturday early evening table by popping in on arrival in Lincoln on the Friday to check. (Always worth asking in person even when opentable says nothing is available). As the fixed price lunch menu was still on offer and this tickled our taste buds we made our selection and awaited our foods arrival. We weren’t disappointed and were soon enjoying delicious starters, followed tasty mains and even found room for a cheeky little dessert! If you’re lucky enough to drop in & get a table here like us, or plan ahead and book one!, you certainly won’t be disappointed 😊

My wife and I decided to pay a visit to this delightful establishment based on glowing recommendations from fellow travelers, particularly on TripAdvisor. From the moment we stepped in, we were pleased to find that securing a table for the two of us was a breeze. The staff, ever so attentive, promptly attended to our drink orders and got our starters to us in record time. The Neck Oil we ordered was an absolute delight, served just as it should be. Our starters, featuring a scotch egg and beef Bon Bon's, arrived surprisingly swiftly, and the taste left us pleasantly surprised. When it came to our main courses – a vegetable tart and chicken strips with creamy mash and mushrooms – we were absolutely blown away. The dishes were not only beautifully presented but also arrived piping hot, and they were prepared just the way we like it. In addition to the fantastic food, the location, staff, value, and overall quality of the experience far exceeded our expectations. It's safe to say we'll be back to savor this culinary delight once again, hopefully with the same fantastic outcome. Keep up the exceptional work!

One of the best places in Lincoln!!!!

I popped in for lunch and was not disappointed. Quickly shown to my table and drink order taken. I had the 2 course lunch of fishcake and chicken for mains. A few more people came in afterwards although this didn't affect the attentiveness of the staff. A relaxing atmosphere and the food was nice considering it was the lunchtime menu. There was also more than enough for the mains. A number of other couples had 3 courses. I was not rushed to leave the venue which was pleasant since I was in no rush.

We were a bit early so we had a beer and cocktail before our table was ready. One of the best Expresso martinis I’ve had and my husband loved the ale. When seated we chose the Stilton and garlic mushrooms for our starter which were so delicious. We didn’t wait long for our main meals; pork belly and chicken. They were delicious and a good portion. My husband then had the pecan and bourbon tart which he said was amazing. The service was excellent and we didn’t wait long between courses which was wonderful as it was fully booked. We will definitely eat at Lawsons again whenever we’re in Lincoln. A great place to eat or have a drink.

Visited here when in Lincoln for our son's graduation. Having been to Lincoln a few times a year for the past four, we wish we'd found this place sooner. The food was fantastic! A great menu, lots of choice, great quality with large portion sizes and not too expensive. We absolutely loved it. You absolutely MUST go here.

We were a party of 12. Warm welcome at the bar, drinks upstairs in the courtyard. Long table in Aircon room upstairs - service was excellent. Food was extremely good and came out hot all at once. Highly recommend
