A fantastic meal and friendly service. The blade of beef was absolutely delicious and I’d definitely have it again. My husband had the ribs which were lovely with the meat literally falling off the bone. The pie and burger also looked good from the next table. I would certainly recommend and will visit again if in Lincoln. Thank you all.

I had the bouillabaisse - excellent. Large chunks of fish , mussels , huge prawn and chunks of potato in a delicious tomato base My husband had lentil shepherds pie which he said was very tasty . Our friends had blade of beef which they said was melt in the mouth tender and very enjoyable . I had the vanilla and Oreo cheesecake on a drizzle of chocolate sauce . Wow! one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had , Several groups there were having pasta dishes which looked very good This is an unassuming looking place in an excellent location and with with very good food at fair prices Made me wish I was a local . Highly recommended ..

Been a few years since I was last here. Ordered the tomato and basil soup to start, very nice, followed by the Zoot burger. Last time I had it the patty was homemade and delicious, this time it wasn't. Had the taste and appearance of a cheap burger from Farmfoods. Shame.....

Me and my family came for a lovely lunch at Cafe Zoot after my Graduation. We had a lovely girl called Carolina who was very attentive and a very smiley. I would definitely recommend!

We had a lovely breakfast, and definitely would be back when we were in Lincoln. Lady who been out weitrress been very nice, although seems not aware of choices of milk, gluten free etc. Scrambled eggs and salmon was nice. I will keep 5 star for next time, hopefully for lunch,or dinner. Greetings.

This place had the balls to charge us £100 for four people, mostly having burgers. The dish of olives must have been picked by Zeus himself, and the bread made by artisan bakers, because the rest of the grub was less than pub-standard stuff. Avoid.

It's one of those welcoming intimate places where you could be the only patrons and there would be a nice atmosphere. Food is tasty and well presented. Front of house staff very welcoming and polite

Gordon Ramsey would have a field day! We wanted somewhere uphill in Lincoln for breakfast. It looked ok and menu had what we wanted. Inside at first seemed fine but as you look around it looks tired and shabby. They have these large brown studded seats that go right up the wall - not sure why make the place look very dark . Tables were shabby and place looks like it needs some tic and decorating. We ordered creamy scramble egg on toast. What came was not creamy and not on toast. It was crumbly egg covered in black pepper and it came with 4 enormous thick slices of toast 2 white and two brown with butter pats in foil and some jams in plastic pots ( not ordered. We also ordered English breakfast tea - was taken aback by this… this arrived in a cup and saucer with the tea bag floating in the cup. Never ever been served tea like that! The waitress was nice and attentive which was a good job as the manager or man working with her was more interested in a young lady ( that wasn’t working there) at the back of the restaurant and oblivious to anything that maybe was going on in the. Finally the menu - what an eclectic mix, not sure if this is suppose to be a bistro, cafe, restaurant, no real theme. There seems to be something for everyone but all quite random. Whilst on the subject of the menu, we sat in the window where a copy of the menu was laminated & attached to the window along with a squashed fly stuck inside the menu. Will just leave that there. Thank you Cafe Zoot breakfast was ok, nothing special, no wow factor inside or with the food and too much I didn’t like about the place to make a second visit.

Called in here for lunch. We were greeted by the staff who were extremely friendly and polite. Everything was clean and prompt service. I ordered a hot roast pork sandwich and my wife ordered a brie, tomato and rocket. I was totally surprised when my meal arrived with a lovely salad and a small portion of fries. The food was reasonably priced as were the drinks. I paid and also left the staff a tip as they deserved it.

Lovely food, however, not very large portions and quite pricey. They do a two course lunch menu, which was good.

The food was nice enough, and the service fine. There were two things we weren't happy about. Firstly, if you tip on the card machine the minimum it would accept (other than zero) was 10%. The second thing was the cost of a large house wine at £10.25. We had actually requested a small glass, but the young lad obviously misheard. When it arrived, as the person ordering it wasn't driving, we just accepted it and didn't find out the cost until the bill came. (Not sure if it was on the menu - if it was, then not knowing is our fault). I know places have to make a profit, and to be completely fair the cost of the mains was more reasonably (relatively speaking) in general. I hope this review will be considered constructive criticism - we don't live in Lincoln and if £10.25 is the going rate there, then fair enough and good luck to them.

Fantastic wee restaurant, with first class food and attentive service.

Used to go here some time ago (previous owners) it was very good…was being the key word here. Food now is very poor, decor is very, very jaded and grubby…mens loo in particular. The only ray of light was a very helpful and smiley waitress. I wished I had read comments by other diners before I went.

My wife and I went here on the first night of visit to Lincoln. A big mistake. The bacon in wife's linguine carbonara was grey and I'm convinced my paella was from a packet.

We went for dinner before an event. We didn't make a reservation, but we still managed to get a table. The restaurant was busy but seemed calm and well organised. Our waitress was very polite, friendly, and attentive. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. We had the garlic bread as a nibble/starter, and then each had a pasta dish - Carbonara and Seafood Linguine. The portions were spot on, and the food was tasty and warm. We shared a bottle of red wine Rioja as well as sparkling water. We would go again.

Good selection of safe menu choices. Not terrible but if you're looking for something outstanding I think there's other choices nearby to choose from if you're prepared to book a week in advance for.

The restaurant is in a nice location. We ordered paella and spaghetti bolognaise. It was only average to poor. No flavour, just like a microwave meal. We won't be back.

Excellent breakfast with the family this morning. The food was spot on and far exceeded my expectations. Lovely sausages, bacon, eggs and proper thick toast. Service from the staff was brilliant and they couldn't do enough for you. Would definitely visit again.

Had a quiet breakfast here while exploring Lincoln. The husband had the eggs and toast, and the eggs were very delicious. I had eggs Benedict, the eggs were overdone, but the other ingredients pulled everything together, and it was delicious.

We arrived in Lincoln late on a Monday afternoon & booked into our hotel in Westgate. Then we set off to find somewhere for our evening meal. After a tour of Bailgate we opted for Cafe Zoot. The next day we met my daughter and enjoyed lunch in Cafe Zoot and then returned there for our dinner. On Wednesday we met my daughter & her husband for lunch and then returned there for dinner. On Thursday lunch had been arranged by someone else in a local pub that was o.kish but we returned to Cafe Zoot for a snack in the evening. On Friday morning we returned home having experienced excellent food and brilliant service by extremely helpful, attentive and friendly staff. They say that you pays your money and takes your choice. Our choice was the best at very reasonable prices. Thank you Cafe Zoot.

We had a very nice meal indeed.. prior to going to cathedral opera concert on Saturday (8th June) late afternoon.. the food and service were excellent.. the waitresses were lovely.. we’ve never been dissatisfied. Thank you Cafe Zoot ☺️

If you are gluten free I would avoid. I guess the fact the place was empty on a busy bank holiday Monday should have sent warning signs. The service was shocking I ordered gluten free ribs which had the GF indicator. My husband ordered regular ribs. Both came out and the server could not tell me which was which. After speaking with 4 different staff I was told I could eat the ribs but then they were unclear about the onion rings. Another trip back to the kitchen and at that point the dinner was congealing and going cold. I’m not surprised the place is empty. What an incredibly disappointing experience.

It was disappointing. The “homemade” lasagne tasted like it had Dijon mustard in the bechamel sauce (not a welcome addition ) I had to send a search party out for the meat, it was mainly multiple folds of pasta. Garlic bread was ok the beer battered onion rings were soggy. How can you do that to an onion ring???

I don't know if it's the chef's fault, or the management deciding portion sizes, but the miniscule size of the vegan lasagne my partner was served last night was a disgrace, it was beyond belief. We are returning customers from a couple of years ago, and we really enjoyed it last time (mushroom risotto, was fantastic, shame to take it from the menu). When the waitress asked us if everything was okay (unfortunately at the end of the meal) I said yes thank you apart from the lasagne being VERY small. I couldn't actually enjoy my own food (which was actually good) because of what I could see in front of me on her plate. I don't know how a restaurant, or chef, would think it's acceptable to serve such a tiny amount of food as a main. Had it came with garlic bread or something, that may have been okay. We will not be returning.

To be honest it wasn't the most tasty breakfast I've ever had it was just meh. And at £15 for a full English and a coffee I expected considerably more.

Absolutely shocking from this once fantastic restaurant. Not sure what has happened, but Cafe Zoot has certainly gone downhill. Booked for a table of 9 on a Monday evening, including 2 children. Waitress couldn’t understand our order.. what’s lager shandy and a spritzer? No children’s menu, or half portions for children available. Only option is full size meal with the option of a takeaway box if they don’t finish their meal. The waitress asked the chef, and this was our only option. After much deliberation (2 mins to check Gino’s could fit us in at short notice) we paid for our drinks and left. I explained our reasons for leaving, which was shortly followed by the waitress announcing the chef would accommodate our request after all. I said, thanks, but we are leaving. Enjoyed a wonderful evening in Gino’s.

Been here lots before always ok . However today , 11.30 am was empty. Asked for scrambled eggs on toast , 1 other had the same and 1 the American breakfast . Both eggs came with salmon , not ordered! Waitress seemed very put out that we didn't want it, hate anything fish , took them both back , obviously just took off salmon and brought them back . I said no sorry, if this tastes fishy , I can't eat it , you'll need to redo the eggs please--- waitress , big sigh, wasn't my fault she got the order wrong , I did apologise ! Brought them back, they were hot so thought maybe had been redone ,but upon eating , were drowned in pepper and green herbs , it was extremely obvious to me that they had not been redone . Waitress did come back to see if all was OK and at this time , I hadn't got the pepper burn on my tongue , so said all was ok . Didn't like the attitude of Waitress or the blatant disregard of food allergies . I don't have a fish allergy , it's a good job i dont . Won't go back

We decided to pop in here today for some lunch. There were only 2 other tables in, so this should have rang alarm bells straight away. We walked in the door and just got looked at. We had to start the conversation, we Asked if a table was available for 2 adults and 1 child, and we just got a table pointed at us. We sat down and looked at the menus. Whilst we were sat we weren’t introduced to by waiting staff, we had to get their attention. I asked if there was a kids menu to which the reply we got was ‘no , what can I get you to drink’. There wasn’t an offer of ‘oh we can adapt any meal size to suit’. Just a straight forward no. They saw we had a child with us, surely you’d mention you don’t cater for children? Now I know why the place was empty, most definitely won’t be returning.

Do you need time out? Do you need very friendly people caring for you and great food? This is the right place! I really enjoyed every visit!
