Stellar food and service, one of the top 3 in the UK, Burgers and wings are off the charts, cozy environment, a hidden gem in York, highly recommended.

I visited right when it opened without making a reservation, and was able to get in right away. I had high expectations because of the good ratings, but it was really delicious. I'll go back to try another burger next time. This is my favorite burger place in York 👍

Amazing food, has the special bounjour burger that came with onion soup to dunk you burger in! A nice selection of nice local beers. Absolutely delicious! Will defo be back for more!

Absolutely amazing, first time going and the food is to die for. The cheesecake is out of this world, honestly it is the best. Service is amazing such lovely ladies, thank you for everything.

Called in for a take way after hearing good reports from friends. Wasn't disappointed as the service was good and the food was excellent.

After following on social media, just had to go try this place! My friend and I went tonight and got a burger each with loaded fries! Absolutely gorgeous! Best burger I’ve had in a long while! We then followed up with the cheesecake sharer for pudding, also amazing. Service was excellent, really welcoming and friendly. Thank you! We’ll definitely be coming back ☺️

I visited Sloppy’s tonight with some friends and it was incredible. Food was top class, staff were amazing and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was fabulous! Will 100% be returning! Thank you guys!

Simply disappointing, sorry. The Burger was a lump of meat drowned in sauce. The Bacon was very very well done. The fries seemed to be re-heated and even though the portion was ok, each fries was pretty small. Outside seating was not clean.

Positives first,very friendly easy to get to all the food looks so well presented. For one cheese burger and truffle mac and cheese to takeaway just shy of 19 pounds. The mac and cheese lovely. The burger looks great but for the price just didn't taste of anything, over powering sauce and plain onions I generally couldn't taste any meat.so expensive for bread and cheese and some mac and cheese 😬 sorry guys

Best place locally in Acomb/Woodthorpe for Wings & Burgers - can’t recommend highly enough, awesome beers too - lots of craft options, on Tap & cans - great deals to be had midweek!

Honestly the best burger and loaded fries I've ever eaten! Portions were incredible for the very good price too. Our server recommended a lager to accompany what I was eating and it was also perfect! Me and my fiance left Sloppy's full of of awesome food and very happy, we will be returning!

We had two bbq burgers, curry and mango loaded chips and the slaw. It was all amazing. The loaded chips were by far the best I have ever had. We did take away, food was ready preety quick and was hot when we arrived to collect. Service was very good too. We will go back.

The 56 previous reviews weren't lying. 5 stars! Excellent burger (I had the truffle one), tasty fries (curry and mango!), and finished off with a delicious milkshake. Friendly staff and a good vibe. Unfortunately, tomorrow night is my last in York.... maybe a second night in a row??

In February 2024 I ate a burger at this fine establishment. I ordered a mouthwatering delight known as the Trufflepuff Burger. My partner ate the Cheezus. We shared some Sriracha Fries. This was a burger so delicious, that I would happily kidnap the chef so that he would make me his fine foods everyday. According to my receipt, I was served by Molly, who was a pleasant, happy and welcoming courier of my meat. During my stay, I was able to listen to a magical indie rock playlist, which brought me back to my childhood. If you ever have a spare and disposable £15, and find yourself in the Yorkshire area, quite frankly, you would be wasting your life if you didn't use it to buy a burger from Sloppy.

Had high expectations from the reviews and was not disappointed. The chicken burgers were of a similar standard to Clucking Oinks (also excellent) but with a nice homemade quality that sets it apart. Sides were delicious, loaded fries amazing you probably can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Tasty burgers i had small plate beef chilly bits onion rings wow we all adked 4 more cocktails finished of with cheese cake only down size service charged on didnt realise as normaly ask to take off &leave a tip we want

Went for our 23rd anniversary. Hubs had a juicy burger, Cheese & bbq fries and huge onion rings. I had sliced steak cooked well done a little grisly otherwise it was perfect, Huge onion rings & truffle chips. To follow Biscoff cheesecake to share, also very tasty 😋

The food was absolutely delicious! An hour an half drive again in the future is worth it! Staff are lovely and polite. Nothing is too much trouble. They even allow dogs! ❤️

Great burgers, we only went for a takeaway, but I'd happily eat in next time. They offered us a drink whilst we waited, and the setting was lovely.

This is my favourite burger place in York. The new location in Woodthorpe is a little less convenient than their previous one, but it's well worth the journey! The menu is extensive and delicious, with lots of specials on the wall to try. The burgers were just as delicious as I remember and the loaded fries have to be tried to be believed. My husband and I almost ate in silence, the food was that good (this basically never happens!)

A real hidden gem 💎 - flame grilled burgers of which are truly HUGE! Proper chips just like granny used to make and local craft beer. The portion sizes are honestly unbelievable, I’ve took half home for later 😅😅 thanks guys

2nd visit. Amazing food, excellent beers, great service and a wicked music playlist. My only teeny weeny gripe was service charge inclusion. I just might have tipped more anyway as the service was top notch.

This place is incredible. It seems like, from the outside, a little hidden piece of heaven. Incredible quality burgers and fries, so much flavour and the customer service is impeccable! As a tourist, I can't come here regularly, but it's honestly the kind of place that would make you take a plane just to visit. Fully, 100% recommend.

Just been for a meal for 4 people & it was superb! Great decor, craft beer, friendly service and some of the best US cuisine ever. Wings, slaw, curry fries and the general burger were devoured. There’s lots of venues in York trying the US thing and it’s often too much - too calorific, too rich, too fatty. Not so here, absolutely nailed it. Seriously guys well done. We’ll be back! 🍔 😋

We came for dinner here and it was amazing! Definitely worth the drive/bus/walk out of town to get here. It was nice and quiet (which is rare for a great eatery in York) which meant we had great service and received our food super quickly. And the food was delicious too, we had a burger, wings and chips and they were all delicious. Cant recommend it enough, hope lots of people support this small restaurant so it can continue to serve amazing food!

WOW, the burgers and fries were immense, I always though a burger is a burger but my wife and I agreed that these were above any burger we've ever had. I got the hot one and she ordered the truffle burger, came in good time and the food was nice and hot, and incredibly tasty. Can't wait to eat them again, good job guys

A very nice warm welcome nice relaxed atmosphere I will be visiting again well worth it's money and the staff very welcoming the food is first class I could not criticise my meal one bit

Banging burgers and we’ll worth a visit! Craft beers on draft, great atmosphere and amazing staff. I can think of five fellas that couldn’t do it better. If you’re feeling piggish get your snout into the truffle burger.

The food is delicious, the burgers and sides are incredible. The decor is gorgeous makes for a perfect place to visit. Really looking forward to coming back.
