Good food, good service. The restaurant is tucked away down a side street but worth seeking out.

I ordered butter chicken and it tasted nothing like butter chicken. I only ate it because I was very hungry. The 2 lady waitresses are very kind though. And the atmosphere is overall good.

Ordered online, waited for ages and tried to phone the restaurant multiple times but no answer. I decided to go to the restaurant as luckily it wasn't too far away. Our food was there but no attempt to contact us or any apology. To top it off they got our order wrong. Food was ok, but might be due to us waiting for 3 hours

Very nice and yami food I suggest that if you go to Margate city, you must try the food of this restaurant, it's really delicious

We have had take away from here for a few years and have always rated the food as good quality. I must say our last meal was so sweet it was almost inedible, which was a shame.

I can't comment on the customer service as I collected my delivery and only spoke a few words to the server. I can speak for the quality of the food though, honestly the best curry I have had in Thanet. My order was over £50 containing many types of dishes, each one was superb! Very enjoyable meal 👍

Boycott this restaurant, they dont even pay their workers after their long hard work. I commuted from London to Kent to give a hand for few days and I did only two shifts and quit the job because of the hygiene. I swear if anyone sees the food preparing area you will never dare to taste the food . They force the workers to top the used sauces to serve next customer and there was no sanitiser to wipe the surface. Furthermore, the owner of the restaurant promised me to send my pay to my account and then he blocked me . On my mums life if I go back again just for a couple of quids I would smash his face at first

The best takeaway! We ordered lots from here yesterday for a family meal. The butter chicken was amazing and so was the tikka. The pashwari naan was so good! If you collect from the restaurant you also get 10% off. Really lovely food and reasonable wait times. I will definitely be back!

Popadoms where stale, food was cold and the delivery driver didn’t have any change

My dining experience at this restaurant was rather disappointing. From the moment we entered, there seemed to be a mismatch in energy. While we were initially offered popadoms, it was disheartening to discover they would be added to our bill. The lady in charge, who I believe to be the owner, exhibited rudeness from the outset. Simple inquiries about the spiciness of a dish were met with a dismissive attitude. As lovers of Indian cuisine, my partner and I requested the spiciest gravy on the menu, only to be served a dish with an unexpected sweetness and an unusual coconut paste infusion. The paneer tikka was uncooked and presented with marination. To add to the disappointment, we were charged an exorbitant £4 as a service fee on a bill of only £17. This seemed entirely disproportionate and left a bitter taste in an already unsatisfactory dining experience. When we requested to have the service charge waived, explaining that we were students on a tight budget, our appeal was met with a refusal. This entire experience was regrettable, and I would advise avoiding this establishment for a more pleasant dining experience. The racial discrimination we encountered left me utterly shocked. It was disheartening to witness a noticeable difference in the treatment of customers based on their ethnicity.

Thieves and bully’s! After ordering from here for years, a total of 14 orders in 4 years, I placed an order for a birthday meal. Two hours later, no meal arrived. I contacted the restaurant and was told the meal was on its way. A further hour later it wasn’t here. Contacted the restaurant again and was told no order was placed. Although I had email confirmation, screen shot confirmation directly from the restaurants website and my online banking showed order had been placed, confirmed and paid for. I was called a liar and told to walk down and prove I’d placed an order. So I did! As soon as I entered I showed the owner / manager all three forms of proof and was called a liar and told I had fraudulently made the websites and created online banking screen shots myself to try and steal food and or money from the restaurant. I was shouted at, and the rude thing behind the counter that has been spoken about in every single review started yelling and waving her fingers around in my face. The owner said the website I ordered from was not his restaurants website even though it one million percentage categorically was. He approached customers in his restaurants and said I’m just a mad woman trying to steal and ruin his business. I gave him the option of me calling the police or a family member to come down. At this point he threw me out. A family member arrived and the owner of the restaurant lied through his teeth and made a number of things up about me. Said I was aggressive and frightening. Well funnily enough I have 4 video recordings of the whole situation to prove how the owner and his staff were treating me and what they were accusing me of. When I returned home I did some research and also phoned the bank and they did in fact confirm the payment went straight to the restaurant and they had received it! This restaurant are thieves! They are taking payments via a third party payment platform and keeping the money and accusing customers who have paid of not placing orders. If this has happened to me then god knows how many other people this has happened to! Luckily I had my money returned, but the stress this caused me is unbelievable. I was traumatised for days after regarding the way I’d been aggressively shouted at. Baring in mind I am disabled as well, this had a detrimental impact on my physical and mental health. The owner is a vile, narcissistic bully. Avoid at all costs!

We made an error in our order, as we believed we were ordering for the Canterbury restaurant, but made a mistake and ordered for the Margate one - an honest mistake. I rang the restaurant immediately after placing the order which is when I realised my mistake. I apologised for the error and asked the restaurant if they would kindly cancel the order. The restaurant refused to refund me and said they have this issue a lot. I understand that this must be frustrating for the business but this was an honest mistake and that is something they need to address with the Canterbury restaurant if it is an ongoing issue - if it happens a lot it is clearly and easy mistake to make. I explained again that it was a mistake and the person I spoke to told me that even if he cancelled my order I wouldn’t get a refund. He gave me a number to call, which I did, but this number was for a company called ‘order yo-yo’ which was just an automatic message and it said they don’t deal with enquiries about orders and that customers should ring the restaurant directly. I rang the restaurant back, and he told me that he could refund me, but not until tomorrow morning because he was “too busy” (this was on Saturday night so he was proposing to refund me on Sunday morning) it is now the following Thursday night and I haven’t received any refund from the restaurant. I made sure to call within minutes (if that) of placing the order, so no food was being cooked, the restaurant weren’t even aware of my order before I rang them as they had to search for it on the system so they had lost no money through using the ingredients. This could have been resolved fairly and kindly but unfortunately the restaurant chose to lie about not being able to cancel my order, and then when questioned lied again about when they would refund me. Very disappointing service.

I went to this restaurant Saturday night, and was blown out the water absolutely amazing!!! I never write reviews but this one deserves it, I eat curry a lot and also make good restaurant curry myself, so I am hard to please, but got to say well done, and can’t wait to go back, was away on holiday, but will definitely go back staff was friendly too us compliments too the chef

Avoid this place like the plague!!!!!! We went to the restaurant after a long day at the beach because it was the only halal restaurant near by, worst mistake!! From the start the hijabi lady(supposedly also the owner) was giving us attitude. Whenever we said ‘excuse me’ she would look us dead in the eye and go to the next table who didn’t even call for assistance. The food arrived an hour late, didn’t taste good and some of the dishes were missing so we repeated asked for it. We asked for water but was given tap water instead. Upon asking for the bill, we were instructed to pay at the till whilst everyone else paid at the table. When I went to the till and asked for a manager, the hijab lady started screaming and demanded we stop talking and started paying as she didn’t have time for this. Eventually, the man(Mohamed) came over but he was not helpful at all, he said there’s nothing he could which left me shocked and appalled. The mistreatment was only directed to us which ruined our fun filled day!

The shocking behaviour me and my friends and I had received. I can't even put it to words.. the hijab lady who called herself the owner was rude from the start the moment we walked in she had an attitude the whole time. She demands that we order drinks first and order water, and she brings a cup of tap water. we wait long for our food to come out. Every time we try to call her over, she makes eye contact with us and walks away to the table next to us to ask if they need anything... Every table had got chocolate and paid a bill at their tables. But we to pay at the till and she was RUDE. The treatment that other tablets (white people) got and the behaviour towards us was shocking. I would not recommend this place at all. The fact that we went out of our way for this place because they are muslim restaurant but we were treated badly.. wished I saw the other reviews before going there

One of the worst customer service I have ever experienced! From the start till the end, we have been treated horribly. The lady with the hijab was extremely unprofessional! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone if I am being honest and they also need to get rid of her.

I'm really disappointed to have gone out of my way to provide a review for a restaurant. It's disheartening to witness such behavior, especially from an Indian restaurant. The staff's rudeness and lack of customer service were truly disheartening. This was unquestionably the worst experience I've had.

The staff's behavior was shockingly impolite, displaying a complete disregard for proper etiquette. They even refused to provide plates and instead insisted we use small plates for our naan, a request we had to make ourselves. Additionally, they removed chicken bones from our plates using their bare hands, without offering replacements and forcing us to eat from the inadequate small plates. It's particularly alarming that this mistreatment appeared to be directed only towards Indian customers. This behavior is highly inappropriate, especially for an Indian restaurant. Despite the food being satisfactory, the staff's customer service approach requires significant improvement. This was undoubtedly an extremely disappointing experience.

Food is delicious! But if dining in the restaurant the menu is limited compare Ls to the website menu which makes no sense. Alcohol tastes watered down and service wasn’t the best to be honest.

The food was okay, but the staff behaviour is very rude. I believe they don’t want to serve customers in the store and wanted everything to be taken away. If they can’t help customers with service they can take off the chairs and make it a take away place.

I have to say this but this was the best Indian food I’ve had in a while!! So good so yummy!! Staff members frequently and friendly! If you ever need an Indian restaurant definitely check out this place!!

A really nice Indian restaurant, impeccably clean, with attentive staff. The food was reasonably priced and quite flavoursome, their hottest dish, garlic chicken was similar to what is expect a Madras to be, so if you want a bit of a kick you might have to ask. All in all a good night, although very quiet on a bank holiday Sunday, which is not tooo surprising.

The place is worst as the staff is really rude and arrogant specially the manager as he doesn’t have the sense to deal with the customers. The food was pathetic and the quantity is also so less. Pathetic place to have some Indian authentic food. There are far better places than this. Nobody should visit this restaurant.

I had avocado and poached egg, just the job for a light meal. Others enjoyed ham egg amd chips, and truffle mac. All nicely cooked, reasonable prices. Friendly staff. They had to get the coffee from the restaurant next door but they made sure there wasn't a wait. Quite a small venue and it was getting busy.

We have just had the most utterly delicious Sunday lunch. The ingredients were all of superb quality. The portions were very generous. The sides were innovative and delicious. A Yorkshire to die for and beautiful gravy. All served invitingly and piping hot. The crème de la crème though was the amazing , kindest most thoughtful waitress. She was an absolute star! We left as very very happy diners. Thank you all!

They park on the pavement across double yellow lines blocking access for prams and wheelchairs. I asked them to move and they said " for business".

Wendy and I wanted a Sunday roast in Margate at the weekend and managed to book into SLAB. Well I have to say it was absolutely fantastic. I opted for the beef and Wendy went for the chicken. Generous portions of meat with a rather large Yorkshire pudding with stuffing arrived on our plates. A huge wooden board arrived with a generous portion of vegetables. Everything was just how we like it - crispy spuds cooked in duck fat, carrots, turnip, mashed swede, and a really tasty cauliflower cheese. To top it off they served a large gravy boat full of lovely gravy. We managed to eat almost everything and then moved to one of there outside tables on the Piazza to finish our bottle of red wine and let the meal go down. I highly recommend the roast - just look at our photos to see how good it is.

Went here with my husband and mum in law. My mum in law had booked the table and mentioned it was for our anniversary. Found this gem of a restaurant through a family recommendation. Definitely lived up to it's rave review. What use to be a steak & burger joint is now operating as a brassiere serving dishes that are inventive and of amazing quality. The new chef certainly showed his pedigree with the beautifully cooked Sea Bass and excellent dessert choice. Will definitely return.

This is the first time I’ve visited this establishment. I saw the advert on Facebook of their roast dinner. The Yorkshire pudding was the largest I have seen. I always clear my plate but this meal beat me. The presentation was excellent, the roast beef was cooked perfectly with some pink and everything tasted exceptionally good. The service was friendly and prompt with no waiting. Highly recommended for excellent service and food.

Got the mixed grill there was barely no chicken on one and the lamb was inedible as it was like rubber and the food was extremely salty the naans were stone cold it also took 2 hours to get here

My wife & I have visited Slab three times. The first was in April 2021, the food was excellent. In September 2022 we spent three nights in Margate & on the first night we decided to eat at Slab, we were glad we did. The restaurant is managed by Cheryl the chef is Jim. Amazingly the menu is changed on a fortnightly basis. I had Harissa crab followed by seared beef, The raspberry dessert was gorgeous. it was an absolutely delicious meal, this coupled with the warmth and friendliness of Cheryl & Jim made for a wonderful evening. We returned on our third evening. The meal was again superb. I can only encourage you to try if you are able, you will not be disappointed.

Visited SLAB with my family. The new menu is amazing, plenty to choose from and the food is delicious and good value for money. We had a 3 course meal £27.95 , definitely worth it. The staff were very attentive , can’t wait to come back again.

We attended with our friends, was so impressed with the food as well as the service, we went for a second time on Sunday. As before the food was exceptional and a wonderful experience. Chef was very friendly and took time to chat to us. Staff were also very friendly. Thank you !!! We will be back.

After happening upon Slab we were amazed and thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food, we were only going to pop in for a quick lunch and have a main but after finding out how delicious the food was we couldn't resist a dessert (which was equally as delicious). As a coeliac I often struggle to find places where I am comfortable to eat but Slab was brilliant with their gluten free options. The chef popped out to see how things were going and informed us that the menu changes every two weeks so makes the most of in season food and he always ensures there are vegetarian and vegan options. I will be recommending to my friends and family and already looking forward to returning to eat here again!!

Went to SLAB last night expecting more of the same delicious burgers and steaks, only to be met with a set meal menu offering only pretentious and, by the looks of it, very small portioned food. They still have the “old” menu on their website but ignore that. It’s all just jus’ and purées now. When I asked the waiter what was going on he said they were currently rebranding and the website hadn’t been updated yet. Such a shame. Can’t comment on the current food as we left, but if you’re looking for a lovely steak or burger then avoid SLAB. However, if you’re after a deconstructed cheesecake and a pea foam then fill your boots, this is the place for you. Side note, would certainly recommend a name change as SLAB originally stood for Steaks, Lobsters and Burgers, only now they don’t serve any of the above. Was once the best and busiest restaurant in Margate, so sad to see what it’s come to!

Visited 2021 and had a great experience . What's happened ? Menu is horrendous, pretentious and small I want comfort food I want crab mac I want burgers I want squid I don't want cold soup . Tiny portions and angry staff that don't want...

Had the loveliest dinner here tonight served by the amazing Sheryl. So attentive and sweet. The food was superb, honestly some of the best food I have eaten in a long time. I’d recommend the aubergine dip and the mains we had were phenomenal. Kudos...

Lovely authentic Indian food at a reasonable price . Seems to have a lot of local people eating there which is always a good sign in a holiday town . The 2nd time we have visited in 6 months and both were equally good. Would definitely recommend.

Terrible service from staff and the manager is unbelievably rude and unhelpful. As other people have commented it seemed to be aimed at us due to the colour of our skin racist and horrible establishment. The cloth napkins were also dirty and the food is overpriced and average at best. Waste of time and money

We had garlic chilli chicken which was hot and tasty not burning. Lamb biryani was tasty too. Good value for tasty food. Overall excellent. I would recommend.

Excellent meal. Had a lamb and chicken shashlik (one each!) with delicious sides. Can't fault it. The best sauces I've had with poppadoms. Charming service - thoroughly recommended.
