Skyliner Restaurant in Leeds

Loved it as usual , served by Emma , and she was a delight as always.Always attentive, knowledgable and courteous , an asset to Skyliner. Food was great , we had the tapas and fish n chips . We’ve had the baileys and ice cream on previous and would always recommend as a dessert , see you soon skyliner

The fish and chips were brilliant but the onion rings were not homemade and spoied the meal for me. The service was very good and it was a decent atmosphere but the restaurant is very small and a little cramped. I will certainly go again but I wouldn't get the same meal.

Whilst visiting Leeds on 1st May 2025, I called into the Skyliner for lunch, I ordered the regular Haddock to take out. Wow the fish was absolutely delicious, lovely white and flacky, the batter was lovely and crispy (not soggy like some) and both tasted amazing the best I have tasted in a long long time. The staff were friendly and had a smile for everyone, when I finished my fish I went back into the shop to tell the staff how delighted I was with my fish. I definitely will be calling in again on my next visit in 6 weeks. Thanks Skyliner 😊 👏👏👏👏

Chips very greasy but fish not bad but rather smaller than normal

I went in last Thurs 10th April about 8pm and it was confirmed at the counter they do gluten-free and that it was a separate fryer, the fish and chips where lovely but 2 days later my symptoms started and there must have been some cross contamination. Its a shame, they are obviously offering this as a service but just not taking it seriously enough and the consequences of even the slightest of cross contamination and the impact it can have. A great place for very nice fish and chips and very reasonably priced but if you can't eat gluten they can't be trusted and they should not be offering this service if they aren't going to take it with the seriousness it needs. I DONT AGREE WITH YOUR REPLY, INFACT ITS AN INSULT. WE ALL HAVE A DIFFERENT CYCLE WHEN THINGS TAKE AFFECT AND I KNOW MY OWN BODY AND MY CYCLE IS 1.5 TO 2 DAYS AFTER. AGAIN I TAKE INSULT TO YOUR DISAGREEMENT THAT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ANOTHER INSIDENT, BASICALLY SAYING I MIGHT BE WRONG. YOUR STAFF MADE A MISTAKE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN SOMTHING SIMPLE LIKE USING THE SAME TONGS OR SOMTHING THAT WAS GLUTEN COULD HAVE BEEN COOKED IN THAT OIL, BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU IT HAPPENED HERE, I HAVE A VERY STRICT DIET AND DO NOT DEVIATE AND I KNOW MY CYCLE THROUGH EXPERIENCE, SO I WOULD JUST TAKE IT YOU FELL SHORT ON THIS OCCASION AND LOOK TO IMPLEMENT STRICTER MEASURES MOVING FORWARD

My family and I visited The Skyliner for our regular afternoon lunch of Fish and Chips which in all honesty is the best we have ever eaten. We were all pleased with the very generous portions and appreciated the great service from both Sam and Jade and also compliments to Callum the Fryer as the meal was delicious. The staff were even kind enough to order us our taxi as we were having problems getting hold of a cab company so all in all a very enjoyable visit.

Fantastic gluten free fish and chips for me and my family , brilliant friendly service , immaculately clean and tidy real laid back vibe about the place will definitely visit again . Having coeliac disease I feel safe to eat here as knowledge re cross contamination is great .

Decided to sit in as we were passing and we had never been before. What a lovely find, everything was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, we were really surprised by the range of food on offer, well worth a visit.

We just moved in the area. Detriot Drive. Lovely walk to the restaurant. Everything was spot on from drinks to fisherman's dish. It's one of the best fish and chips I've been to! Superb! Birthday visit with my parents - spoke to Jo to book table and was so friendly over phone and then she served us in the day and was just delightful

honestly the service are nice cant say much bout the atmosphere since i just order from the takeaway part of it but honestly the biggest let down are the portion sizes for chips like for fish and chips costs £8.90 and the amount of chips you get is shockingly lacking for the price it honestly feels like they value the potatos more than the fish produce wise because another portion of chips ontop of my order turned it from 8.90 up to just over 11 quid and there was arguably more chips on the secondary portion than there was the first. TLDR: Decent food terrible portion sizes had bigger portions back during covid wouldn't recommend for pricing there's better around with bigger portions and cheaper prices.

We had a lovely Gluten free fish and chip meal here. It can be quite hard to find places that cater for dietary requirements but the Skyliner was amazing for this.

We had a lovely night at The Skyliner. The food was gorgeous and fast to be served. Such a lovely local spot. The waitress Keera was pleasant and attentive. She was a joy to talk to!!

This was my third time eating here and again it was the best fish and chips I've had. Our server isabelle was very welcoming and made sure we got our food and drinks promptly. She kept coming back to make sure that myself and my family were OK and if we needed anything she was willing to get it for us. I will most definitely be eating here again.

The best thing about moving back to Leeds is this place. The fish and chips are amazing, we usually have Isabelle serving, she's super attentive, polite and efficient. Definitely the best chippy in the area, if not the whole of Leeds.

Ravenous when I arrived. Could hardly move afterwards! Stuffed me face so quickly it didn't touch the sides. Wonderful restaurant. Excellent fish and superbly looked after by the friendly Robert.

The food was excellent we were served by Jo who was very friendly and efficient , the atmosphere was lovely with people who were obviously regulars as Jo seemed to know them all. Got treated to the Skyliner as part of my birthday weekend surprise adventures. I have lived in the Midlands for twenty years and they can't do a chippy, I've no idea why, but they are all a bag of balls. The Skyliner was ace. Service was brilliant. The staff knew everyone who came in by name and their orders - apart from us obviously, but they made us very welcome. Unexpectedly, as well as the great food, they had an excellent range of spirits. Highly recommend the Slingsby rhubarb gin. Top marks to Jo for service, who joined me for a birthday photo.

My order was take-away. The staff was very good and there was a great atmosphere. The fish and chips was very good and I recommend The Skyliner.

My husband and I have visited the Skyliner for years and have never been disappointed. The staff are always so welcoming and it has such a friendly atmosphere. The last time we went we were served by Jo and our fish and chips were cooked by Victor and were delicious. Jo is so friendly and always makes time for a chat. I also have to compliment them for their beautiful Christmas decorations.

Isabelle gave us excellent service with a smile . Thank you, we will return.

Been coming here for years. Always good. Fresh fish cooked to order. Happy to lightly batter it if that's your preference. I usually takeaway but the restaurant is nice too.

The food was beautiful, fresh, red hot, good size portions. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Especially Lacey the server and Callum the Fryer.

The food was cooked by Danny and we were served by Isabelle and Emma. Some of us had a Haddock,chips,mushy peas, bread and butter and a pot of tea, one of us had Scampi. The food was delicious as always and we have rebooked to come back next month. The staff are always very obliging and friendly. We can highly recommend this restaurant or you can have a takeaway if you do not have time to eat in the restaurant.

We are so lucky our mum lives close by, we visit the restaurant regularly never had a bad meal, fish is delicious and my absolute favourite is the seafood platter: if you love fish then do not hesitate to try Skyliner. Every time I go back to Leeds l always visit the skylines fish & chip shop. At Colton cross gates Leeds the owners have been there many years. The restaurant is very welcoming I’ve never tasted fish & chis that good there in a different league. They have many choices. Very pleasant staff.

Went to visit the restaurant today with three children aged 12,13 and 15. Was seated by an old women with glasses. Two of the children 12 and 13 wanted to order from the children’s menu. Women taken orders approached and I explained I would like two meals off the children’s menu. Her response was “Who are the children” in a rude manner. I’ve pointed out my two youngest to which her reply was “they not 12”. Again the tone of her voice and body language in a busy restaurant was embarrassing. I am explained my son was 12 and her response was “ok but SHES not allowed one”. Absolutely shocking. We walked out. Absolute embarrassment to Skyliner as from previous visits the staff are very nice and the food is very good. Nowhere on the children’s menu does it say “under 12” and I don’t think it’s wrong to presume under 14 is a child. Made all three children feel very uncomfortable and should be embarrassed.

Today we as a family called into the restaurant full as well,just a short wait and everything happening at once but seated and we’ll looked after from seating,mushrooms starter spot on then myself my wife shared the 16 oz haddocks with our 2 young children and peas curry and gravy all really nice full wide body haddocks thick end crisp batter moist haddock great thick chips honestly spot on hot even great tea and bread and butter our waitress couldn’t do enough so happy before we went to temple newsham. Total for 2 mails a starter drinks 4 sides 3 sides of bread and butter £60 great value very filling lovely restaurant nice and warm to 10/10 from us and thank you to the fish fryer on even got a jolly thank you and good bye nice touch will be back 👍thanks to all you made our day.

Excellent fish & chip shop/restaurant with pensioner special rates Monday to Thursday. Please note that this review was made 7 years ago when the business was run by excellent owners and staff. The business has since changed hands and since that time has only been visited twice by myself, since that change. Following those visits, I have not re-visited in at least 5 to 6 years due to the drop in the food cooking standards at that time. This may have been corrected, and no longer be the case, so I plan re-visit in the near future to check for improvement.

Chips too crispy/dry for my liking. Last few fish I've had seemed to have been on a diet. Better value for money at other chippies in the area.

Top quality Fish and Chips cooked in Dripping, truly wonderful! This is a gem of a traditional English fish and chip shop established over 60 years with a busy takeaway and quite a small restaurant with basic seating. Car parking is limited to an area out front but the rapid turnover of the takeaway usually avoids waiting. Some attempt has been made to improve disabled access via a small ramp but a little patience is required to negotiate into the eating area. The Skyliner has had a reputation for good quality, well cooked food since its inception. Unlike many businesses which have deteriorated with time it has made an effort to keep its standards high and is just like as people would have experienced in the 1940s & 50s. To modern tastes occasionally the service might seem slow with up to a 20 minute wait in the restaurant but that will be because (depending on what you order) your food will be cooked specifically for you from the ingredients. Service was very good with helpful and pleasant waitresses in attendance. I try to go every time I am in Leeds which sadly isn't very often nowadays.

Friendly staff fish ok but chips were awful Luke warm at best definitely won't be going back.

Such a lovely fish and chip restaurant!! Not at all what I expected. The service was excellent as the staff are friendly and attentive and the food was served quickly. The tapas selection is amazing, the Mac and cheese croquettes are especially delicious. The restaurant itself has a comfortable atmosphere and I love the way it’s decorated, and I have to give compliments to whoever was in charge of the music!

Skyliner hosted my mums 80th birthday party recently and WOW , the day went perfect , the staff could not have done more for us they certainly went above and beyond to see the day ran like clockwork ,and the food was the usual excellent quality , 32 meals all out together , all piping hot and 32 empty plates after . We could not ask for more from Alvin and all his staff . Thank you so much for making mums day , a day she and all her guests will never forget . Thank you . Ps I was sat near to a friend and her husband who travelled from Filey known for fish and chips but said there is no fish shops in Filey that could compete with the fish and chips they had yesterday .. well done Skyliner ..

Take away disappointment again. Can only guess it was an old fish from the side as the only one in the cabinet was still there after she’d wrapped mine. Usually order a special to avoid this (not the first time of an evening) , in future will be asking for a normal fish cooked fresh. Maybe better training for new staff to know the layout of what is to be served and what’s not ?? On a positive , good chips and fish cooked to order is nice.

Very greasy not drained properly

Disgusted when my sister and husband in their mid 70s called to sit in for a meal and asked for tomato sauce and were charged sixty pence for a small container of sauce, it should have been free, disgraceful.

Some of the best fish and chips in Leeds, and always fantastic service. We hadn’t been in a while before tonight, and we were happy to know that it’s still one of the best out there.

Get fish and chips for my kids as a weekend treat won't be going again after today wouldn't feed the fish to my dog. The picture is after I chiseled the cast iron burnt batter off. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Fish was cooked perfect,lovely golden crisp batter.The lady serving,Joe was amazing very busy, but on top of everything & very friendly.A lady to keep for your business.

My wife had gone out with friends so I was left to fend for myself. I found my way to Skyliner and I'm rather glad I did. I started with some breaded mushrooms which were nothing special but enjoyed all the same I then tried the fisherman's feast. This was made up of scampi, squid, a large filo prawn and the best haddock I've had in an awful long time. The fish was beautiful flakes of perfectly fried haddock. The food was washed down with a pint of draught lager which was fine. Service was outstanding, all provided by our own lovely Leeds ladies. The only downside was it was 8.30 ish when I left and I had eaten so much food. I should know better by now. Top fish! Went last night, was very good again!

Actually one the worst fish and chips I’ve had in a while. Ordered three times and they were supposed to be well done, it wasn’t, the fish was so greasy that I was unable to eat it all. Arguably the most important thing from the order was missing, scraps!!! Fish and chips without scraps isn’t even worth eating imho. I specifically asked for a bag of scraps enough for 5 people (phone order to be collected) but when the order arrived at home the scraps weren’t there. Might be a minor to most people, well not to us, and this is why I have reviewed as such. Won’t ever be eating from here again, no wonder they wanted payment over the phone first….
