Saturday house cleaning I required quick and tasty food , BOOM , crispy , well cooked , yummy , fresh bread FABULOUS fish butty and scallop .

I was queuing today when I was spoken to in such a rude manner from a woman who worked there. I walked away. I was only looking at the menu.

Weve had variable quality fish and chips from the croft over the years. They used to be stellar but can also be a bit meh. I'd say we've had poor quality fish and chips only twice from there previously. Today's was absolutely abominable. The fish was a tiny bit under and the batter certainly flaccid and under cooked. The chips were fit for the bin. The croft should be ashamed for serving them. They were also soggy, pale and undercooked. However the most pressing issue was the fact the had been made with bad potatoes. There were black chips, green chips, chips with potato eyes, and unpeeled chips. We rescued a handful of edible ones from two full portions. I accidentally ate a black one and it tasted of rotting. Ive posted a small selection of the bad ones. The others are in a black plastic bag where they belong. Yes mistakes can happen but they must have known full well when they wrapped them up that they were inedible and banked on customers not returning to complain on an icy cold day. Well they were right, we threw them away and we certainly won't be returning. We're loyal customers but a third time of wasting money on food that goes in the bin is too much for us.

Been going here for years but last time the fish was shaped like a horse shoe and the chips have never been up to much, it's expensive but i don't mind that, i once got some then rang them and said I've got more chips on my car bonnet than you've just sold me so won't be going again.

If you live in the west side of Leeds this must become your fish shop of choice. Absolutely superb. I was in Farsley yesterday to see my team Darlington beat Farsley Celtic & came here for lunch. I’m an f&c fan & this was as good as it gets

Went to get my usual 3 times and a portion of peas, would have filled my loyalty card and got one portion free. but told they no longer accept there loyalty card and I would have to start again with the app not happy my loyalty will be going elsewhere

Lived on Croft street 16 years. This was always the go to chippy. But just been in and am so disappointed. Fish was brilliant, so was the breadcake! But the rest? No. Order a fish butty and you’ll love it!

Fab fish and chips as always. Shame about wrong information. Ready for my free portion of fish and chips only to be told it had run out at end of last month. NOT the expiry date I was told on a previous visit. So out by a few days, such a big deal? Obviously, Shame.

Had heard a lot about this place so thought I'd give it a try. decent sized portion of Haddock cooked in a nice batter

Good haddock, very good mushy peas, but chips pallid and soggy.

After hearing many good reviews we came to try the food here and it did not disappoint, the calamari rings were my favourite! The only thing that I was slightly disappointed in was the portion sizing, for the price I would’ve loved a few more chips in there. Other than that, a delicious dinner!

The food is unquestionably good, typical Yorkshire 'Fish n Nerks'. If it's not too busy, service is pretty good and more than acceptable, but if there is a queue, no one seems to know where the end of the queue is, consequently, as I experienced, you can find that several people arrive at the door, ask if the people there have ordered, if they say yes, the newcomers walk in, in front of you, ignoring the ones waiting further back. The 'click and collect ' app, although a reasonable idea if you already know about it beforehand, which I didn't as I don't live in the area, will make you wait at least another 30 mins, so it was a wasted journey and disappointing for me to miss out, I ended up eating at a pub 2 miles away.

Heard a lot about it. Went to check it out this evening. Veryyyy expensive.... Chips seemed burnt/refried. Kids asked me why did I go to a cheapy fisheries. I laughed and replied no I went to a famous one. They laughed at me. There is a loyalty scheme that requires you to download thier app. So I did but guess what that was too late as had to scan that before payment. Obviously wasn't prompted to do so as that would've meant giving me around 30 points 😀 Good luck!!!

By far the best fish and chips I've ever tasted! Great staff, highly efficient ordering. I could eat their food every day as could all my family including 4 year granddaughter. Fantastic. Will never go anywhere else. 😁

Fast efficient and friendly staff and quality fish & chips though I don’t actually eat chips! Joe is like a human dynamo serving constantly with an appropriate approach to each and every customer. Not cheap but good quality and fish is now so very expensive. Lightly battered large fish is a real treat.

Really disappointed with the portion size of the fish and chips which are expensive. The fish is supposed to be fresh Whitby fish, defiantly not! Small fish and really small portion size of chips that don’t even cover the bottom of the recycled box. This business has won awards but I honestly find this hard to understand. Far better fish and chips if you are willing to drive into Pudsey and the surrounding area. I would not recommend.

Glad I finally tried Croft Street Fisheries after living locally for 5 years. I have truly missed out on some good fish and chips. Highly recommended and friendly staff.

Been here four or five times now, each time the fish, chips and peas have been excellent. So much flavour and on par if not better than the Magpie Cafe in Whitby. What a treat to have Croft St Fisheries on our doorstep!

Very very good fish and chips. Super efficient staff. Well organised. The shop is always busy but they turn round orders quickly.

Regular visitor at lunchtime, but the lighter meal for one is now far too expensive and I feel ripped off every time I ask for a splash of curry sauce. I was charged £1 for the pleasure. Probably won't be back as often which is a shame. I don't think many will be able to afford in the coming months.

These are probably currently the best fish and chips in Leeds. They could do with a second door so that the queue is from end to end. Rather than ordering and waiting outside.

We’ve been coming here for a few years but the quality of food has gone down and the price has gone up! The staff have been rather unfriendly the last few times we visited. They tell you to write any requests/ requirements in the notes section when ordering online but then they don’t read the comments such as wanting to claim a free meal (having a completed loyalty card or asking for salt and vinegar). They didn’t even give us a stamp despite us buying 2 portions of fish and chips all because we claimed a free portion in the same order! That was £18 for 2 portions of fish and chips that they refused to give a stamp for and the quality was poor. Looking forward to the new fish and chip restaurant Fat Haddock in Stanningley opening so we can find a new chippy!

The most incredible fish and chips I've ever eaten. Everything cooked to perfection, the gravy is made with actual stock and you can taste the difference. This is the place to come if you want to taste the best.

This is the place to come if you want to try traditional fish and chips to an incredibly high standard. By far the best I've ever eaten, so good I had to give this review. The 'Rolls Royce' of fish and chips. This is where foreign visitors and tourists need to come to get the best. 11/10

I went to visit a friend of mine and we decided to go for fish and chips (my favourite). She very highly recommended Croft Street Fisheries in Farsely as the best in Yorkshire. In my estimation, they are the best in the whole of England!!! Absolutely fresh and absolutely delicious; every single morsel!!!!! My friend said the portions were generous and she was so right! Not only that, you will be greeted by the most friendly and welcoming staff. Jess, who served me gave me a voucher. My experience in one word: Awesome!!!!!!

I'm not a massive fish & chip lover to be honest but the fish from here was spot on!

I had read that Croft Street Fisheries received awards for their fish and decided I take the 70 mile round trip and give them a try. I ordered the special and chips, in my opinion they were excellent,the fish was as white as snow and I could tell from the taste not only was the quality the best but must have been fished from extremely cold waters, i.e Iceland, Greenland area. It was certainly worth the trip and I will return many times. A BIG THANK YOU. Well deserved. Brian,

The amount of chips should not go down, I got two chips and one hardy had any chips in at all no way worth £2.65 in my opinion. And because we were the first ones in the chips were not done great how I like them. Will be trying a different chip shop now.

I would have taken a picture of the food but every crumb is gone. I have driven past the place of an evening loads of times and thought it looks decent. Gave it a try this afternoon and the fish, chips , scraps and curry sauce were 5 Star. Bit expensive but you get top quality. Will be back again

Visited croft street fisheries recently and I have to say it was pure class! It was one of the best portions of fish & chips I've ever tasted! The batter was exquisite and the chips cooked perfectly.The only time I've tasted better was at the maypole in otley but not much in it, well done croft street!

The food is very nice though the portions are quite small. I was also disappointed to find my food was not wrapped, just put in a box. It wasn't so hot by the time I got it home. Shame because I travelled 4 miles by car to go here. Start using paper guys. Not all your customers are on your doorstep.

Just got some lunch today, and the woman behind the counter handled money and didnt sanitise and began to go about working. Food was ok, the chips were cooked which is an improvement on previous visits. But there were a lot of scrappy thin edge chips which was disappointing.

We eat regularly from Croft Street and have never had a bad meal, The fish is always of a high quality and cooked to perfection. The staff are great and always polite and friendly. Their food is the best value take away you can get.

Bought 2 regular fish and chips. My wifes fish was a normal size but mine was a chids size. Only live across the road so nipped back . All 3 members of staff swore it was a regular size. Very disappointed. No wonder they're offering...

1200hrs, 18/06/20. Dreadful, can quite easily say these are the worst fish and chips we’ve ever had. Soggy batter, dry fish and the chips were mostly bruised and chewy. Even the kids wouldn’t eat them. They really did look and taste like they’d been reheated....

Award winning fish and chip shop. Fresh, succulent fish with tasty, crisp batter. Chips perfectly cooked, not soggy like so many. I suspect that they may still use beef dripping to fry with, perhaps? Always a queue, but worth the wait!

I am a repeat visitor to Croft Street Fisheries. Whenever I am in Farsley I have to have my fix of their delightful beef dripping infused crispy yet fluffy and amazingly tasty chips smothered in this great curry sauce. Yummy.

We've been going here since we moved to Farsley and always enjoyed it. We really liked their loyalty card scheme up until we tried to redeem our stamps today. We don't always remember our card so had the required 8 stamps over a few cards. When asked if we could amalgamate the cards we were refused to the point a rude customer butted-in to have a go when my husband was only asking. After being told we had to fill each card to redeem (requiring a further 25 visits!) we made our purchase and left for the last time. Nowhere on their card does it request this on the T&C's and what a petty demand at the expense of customer service. I have never had a problem amalgamating cards at other stores in my life. What a crazy loyalty scheme that on this occasion has resulted in disloyalty. I have supported this company and voted for them in a number of awards which has ultimately been rewarded with disrespect.

My young son and I arrived at 4 minutes to closing time. They were happy to serve us, they hadn't got cooked what I wanted in particular, but I was very happy to have what they had available. They reiterated they were happy to cook...

We always enjoy excellent fish and chips, when we get our Friday order at Croft Street. Always well cooked, the batter is superb. There's always a queue which says it all. Very friendly and hard-working staff.

There's often a queue so that tells you this place is pretty good. Fish (haddock) cooked freshly, chips cooked just right, mushy peas delightful and, the piece de resistance, scraps (a northern thing). You cant beat this chip oyl - it's top grub!
