Great fish and chips excellent service by Emma and other staff members. Group of 53 served fantastic. Tea/coffee, fish, chips with sides, bread and butter with ice cream puddings. Nothing too much! Catered for a big group with excellent timing for all! Thank you once again!

Mermaid Fish Bar serves some of the best fish and chips in Leeds! The fish is always fresh, perfectly crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. The chips are golden and have just the right amount of crunch. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality you get. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the service can be a bit slow during peak times, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended for a tasty, traditional fish and chips experience!

The fish was nice and a decent size. Let down by the chips which were brown, soggy and looked like they'd been sat there for a while and cooked in oil that was long overdue a change. Ordering is a bit of an ordeal too, instead of just asking your order they are keen to know if you want fish the second you walk through the door but seem to want to guess the rest of your order. Not cheap either and cash only.

Service with a smile and the food is really nice. The owners are more than happy to recommend their value for money lunchtime meal deal.

Called at the mermaid today for dinner ,it isn't the first time and wont be the last very nice thank you ,

My husband and I thought we would visit the mermaids fish restaurant in Morley . When we arrived the restaurant was empty, the staff were pleasant, showed us to our table and offered a menu. My husband chose the regular fish& chips ,I had the large fish and mushy peas when it came my husbands was a good portion ,but my fish was over cooked dry and not what I expected as a large fish , it was not much bigger than the regular fish. We complained and was told it was the correct size for a large fish and the excess of batter was normal. It was replaced and a slightly larger fish and light batter. Very disappointed and very over priced for what was served, not at all like the pictures on the advert. We have gone to the mermaid since it opened as the fastnet and never had to send our meal back and expected to pay for it. Won’t be going again.

2 ladies were too bothered talking to each other rather than listening to what you were ordering fish was dry and the chips were awful and it was luke warm won't be using it again in an hurry

Fish chips and a side for £7.80, bargain! Good portion of chips and top quality fish cooked to order, two cheerful ladies serving - all in all a top experience, definitely going again! I got a large fish as well not realising how big the regular is, that will be my supper later......

Went here yesterday lunchtime with a friend, and from the start, we were greeted and entertained by Sol who was very helpful. Service was second to none, and he was able to reaccommodate our original seating due to the sun being in our eyes - after a bit of tongue in cheek, mildly sarcastic humour, which I fully appreciated! The fish and chips were delivered quickly and were just as you'd expect - delicious! All staff were friendly and helpful. I'll certainly be going to the Mermaid again! Thank you!

We have recently moved away from Grimsby where the fish and chips were extraordinary. We recently visitted my son in Leeds and fancied some fish and chips. After looking at the reviews we went to the Mermaid. Ordered 5 fish, 2 large chips, sausage in batter, curry sauce and scraps, the bill came to £33 very reasonable. The batter was crispy, fish was soft and the chips were hot and fresh. We were very happy with the meal and will definitely be visitting again.

Been to this fish and chip shop today a guy in the shop said to the woman have you been to the carnival she said no its not for her ,she said that she never really fuss for it caz she don't like caribbean food she don't like rice she don't like goat she don't like peas the man said have you try it tho she reply no I just know I don't like it my wife turn to me and said this woman is horrible I turn to my wife and said each to their own she like what she like,, But what get me is when she saw a black woman past and she turn to the guy and said I bet she went this woman is a racist the shop was quiet and tense..couldn't wait to get out of there I will never go back again

We've driven miles to get good fish and chips and these are the best by far and almost on our doorstep. Thanks to Danny Malin for giving a good rating, we won't be going anywhere else in future

Fantastic customer service, great portions for price and most importantly, one of the best Fish and chips I've had in the entire Yorkshire area. Take note that this is only a take away spot with very few seats outside, otherwise highly recommended.

The mermaid fishshop is the best I've tried in a long time, my first visit I bought regular fish& chips which was far too much for me, and I couldn't finish them, so next time round I bought the small fish&chips was just right and great value for money, nice friendly people, from now on this is my local

The food is worth 5 stars but taking cash only when to feed a family of 4 is about £30 I find off putting as during the pandemic we are advised not to use cash if possible plus I don't carry that amount in cash with me I prefer to use card, much more hygienic than watching someone take your money pass you change then wrap your food up. Not hygienic at all. Shame because the fish is great

First delivery today from mermaid fish bar, the work team was really friendly, I'm happy with the great service from the telephone order, best fish and chips and great delivery service. We ordered at 13.10 and the food arrived 20 minutes later red hot and fresh out of the fryer :) we will be doing a work order again next week!

We go here every Saturday unless we are out of town. I had small fish and chips with scraps and curry sauce.Pleased to say curry sauce is not that vile stuff with sweetcorn in.Partner had regular fish and chips.Photo is of the small size. One niggle,wish they would accept card payments instead of cash only. They are starting a delivery service from 14th March too.

Just want to say this, it's not an argument etc its a case or respecting each others decision, ive been in to the Heathfield few days ago delivering something and was told that it's down to each person if you want to wear a mask etc or not, just been in to mermaids the woman who seems on a power trip said we have to wear a mask, squirt some gel witch we found odd so we had to wear a mask then use the gel and have our temperature taken then download the app which we said no to then she said come and sit and order and that it's down to the owners i seriously thought they was/are breaking the law ??? P.s I'll not be returning ever..

First time in Leeds and better fish and chips than London by miles. And make sure you request scraps ontop of the chips. This was a medium haddock chips and a choice of gravy or peas for £5.25

Lovely fish and chips at a reasonable price. I don't live in the area so only probably go a couple of times per year. However whenever i pop in the portions are a good size and they are always fresh. Iv only tried the fish and chips, so not sure about the other items on the menu
