Heaney and Mill in Leeds

Great place to go for a very nice mid week breakfast, service is always good, price is reasonable and the food is always excellent.

El restaurante tiene dos nuevos chefs jóvenes que han trabajado en algunos de los mejores lugares de Leeds, y han transformado el menú de H&M... y la cocina. El resultado es que las horas de almuerzo, que en el pasado a menudo podían significar un comedor casi vacío, ahora están ocupadas. Hay algunos platos y sabores nuevos y emocionantes, con excelentes entrantes como el vientre de cordero marroquí, tostadas de atún y gamba y el rollo de primavera de pato confitado, o platos principales bien ejecutados, como el fletán y el risotto de mariscos. Pero no esperes esos platos cuando vayas, ya que están comprometidos con un menú que cambia regularmente, algo que nos hará volver. El servicio se mejoraría con más personal de frente de la casa (una persona estaba tratando con todas las mesas en nuestras dos últimas visitas) , pero esto es sin duda un restaurante en el up.

Atmosphere was lovely ! Just a little disappointed by the food and service. The food sounded delicious on the menu but both halibut and duck were really salty and I think needed something fresher on the plate to cut through the richness of it all. The service was also not particularly warm or friendly. But restaurant is very beautiful and I’m glad we tried it - it was still a lovely evening

Stunning restaurant with amazing food! We came with friends when we were visiting Headingley, as we had heard recommendations. It did not disappoint. The food was perfect, with every little detail adding so much to the flavour. Every dish had some sort of sauce, or addition they made it stand out. The Tuna to start was one of the best starters I have ever eaten, and the Sirloin steak was perfectly cooked. It had a great cocktail list, and overall we could not complain about anything. If we are visiting again, we would definitely return.

Just a shame the steak was littered in sinu. The options where 1. should we cook another it’s going to take a while?. Well yes please I am actually hungry. Oh no option 2. I guess they wanted me to forgo the meal. Not great service and why the chef let it touch the pan. Shame we were hoping to enjoy a lovely meal and there was a great desert and cocktail menu but we decided best to cut the evening short. If I’d give any advice it’s if you are going to apologise as you can see the problem at least offer some recompense such as a dessert or drink while the person eats alone and the other waits. We would have spent a lot more and would have turned around a negative situation.

Visité hoy con mi hija y mi nieta recién nacida para el almuerzo del domingo. Mi hija visita con bastante frecuencia y siempre habla muy bien del lugar. Ella no se equivoca. Fue el mejor almuerzo del domingo que he comido. El cordero y la carne de res estaba tierno y cocinado a la perfección, junto con las verduras frescas. ¡El puré de trufa era delicioso! El personal es muy amable y encantado de servirle. Se le hace sentir muy bienvenido. Una visita tan encantadora y gran relación calidad-precio para una comida maravillosa que es de 5 estrellas! Lo recomendaría a todas las edades. Fue encantador saber que los bebés y niños son bienvenidos, incluyendo espacio para un cochecito, ya que muchos establecimientos en estos días no son tan complacientes. No te decepcionarás. Espero volver muy pronto. Gracias a todo el personal. Eres increíble. 😊

Marido y yo visitamos para una rara cita noche. La comida era deliciosa, el servicio excelente y el ambiente muy relajado y amable. La sopa de cebolla francesa es la mejor que he probado en mucho tiempo, la lubina cocinada a la perfección y el pastel de queso chocolate era una forma ligera y perfecta de terminar la comida. Muy recomendable

Vivimos en Lincolnshire, pero viajamos regularmente a Leeds para el rugby, y siempre hacemos un punto de visitar Heaney & Mill, cada vez! Una vez más nuestro desayuno fue increíble! El tocino era espeso y jugoso, y los huevos tenían una preciosa yema oscura, muy sabrosa. Personal atento y encantador. La única decepción que encontré fue que el filete ha desaparecido del menú, tal vez si pregunté pueden haberlo servido, así que probablemente mi culpa!

Fabulous Sunday lunch with family today - exceptional roasts and very attentive service. Perfect and recommend highly.

Popped in for breakfast it was very quiet at 9:00 a.m., What a surprisingly nice egg and avocado Breakfast was okay but I feel like I always miss beans if it's not there. The coffee was nicely presented and okay but not as strong as I like it

Ate off the sandwich menu, smoke salmon and cream cheese bagel came salad and fries, delicious, as did the breakfast stack. Very pleasant waiter too.

It's been a few months since we visited but I thought I'd better get round to posting a review as we had a very good experience. I have somewhat complicated dietary restrictions which they catered to very well, and overall the food and service was very good. The service was polite, friendly & attentive without being overbearing, and the food was really tasty, we had quite a range of dishes between 6 of us and all left satisfied! Edited to original review: we have since visited 2 more times, and I remain impressed by the quality of the food, the service, and their willingness to cater to my food intolerances.

We missed the breakfast menu by 20 minutes, we wanted the Trio. So I ordered the breakfast stack and the other half the Reuben sandwich. The stack was really good, breakfast with some different flavours, a little spice and jammy sweetness. The fries were crispy, excellent. The Reuben was meant to have corned beef and beef. It seemed to be just pastrami, but she enjoyed it anyway. Good food, friendly service. We made breakfast this time! They don't have eggs trio on the menu anymore but they kindly did a player for us for £17. I had the traditional, very nice.

Best lamb (starter) and pork (main) I've ever eaten. All of us had an incredible meal with top tier service from Simon and the rest of the staff. Absolute bargain for the quality we received. I think everyone in Leeds should eat here at least once and we will be back!

I've now held two brunch events for 30 mums and their babies here as part of The Mum Club North Leeds and I couldn't be happier! The food is brilliant, great options and delicious with lots of compliments from our mums. Excellent, friendly, fast service and for a group of 30 women surrounded by lots of babies is something that we really notice and appreciate. Makes all the difference when the staff are super accommodating and friendly! All communications to book via email and discuss our event details has been super easy too, even during the busy Christmas time, so thank you! This is rare so it really stands out and I appreciate it. Absolutely gorgeous venue with such a lovely atmosphere, couldn't recommend enough. Can't wait to hold more brunches for our happy mums and babies in the coming months!

I came in without being familiar with the place, and the quality and flavours of the food really surprised me - absolutely outstanding. Went for a few evening small plates - the tuna and prawn toast was great. As well as the high quality food, it's a classy, relaxed ambience and decor, with professional and well turned out wait staff. The whole place gives the vibe of being an experience that is a cut above.

Delicious vegetarian main course of njudi (like an arancini gnocchi with cheese inside) in squash sauce with crispy kale. The customer service was excellent. A little on the pricey side however it's worth it.

Really, really lovely place, great friendly service, we've had the steaks and the burgers, both cooked really well (to temperature) and really tasty, we go every year on our anniversary, and they gave us a free glass of procecco as we booked in advance, bonus points for having heating under the seats - much appreciated in winter!!

First time, booked birthday lunch 10 adults 3 kids. Atmosphere good, one issue background speaker in roof to loud, found conversation difficult. Staff very helpful and friendly 10 out of 10. Unsure if large party was issue because we all said food warm to cold. This did put a damper on the occasion. May have to return just the two of us try again see if better.

Visitando Leeds para ver nieto, nos arriesgamos y nos reservamos aquí como al lado de Premier Inn! Desde la reserva y durante toda nuestra visita todo fue perfecto. El diseño, la comodidad, el ambiente, la bienvenida, la comida de servicio... todo! Tengo una queja - la hamburguesa de ternera era ENORME - ella misma sólo podía manejar la mitad, pero el nieto hizo frente a uno y medio! ¡Muchas gracias a todos!

Un encantador restaurante con un servicio atento solo decepcionado por la presentación de la comida. Pedimos chateaubriand que es un plato caro y nos decepcionó que se sirvió con las piezas todas dispuestas individualmente planas en un plato. Esto significaba que la carne estaba nadando en sus propios jugos que no se ven bien en un plato blanco y se enfrió muy rápido. Hemos ido a restaurantes de cadena que lo presentan mucho mejor.

No quiero jactarme, pero para poner mis comentarios en contexto, como mucho y esta noche en Heaney & Mill fue honestamente la mejor experiencia de restaurante que he tenido en mucho tiempo! Desde el comienzo hasta el desierto, cada bocado que comíamos era exquisito. El servicio era excelente y todo el ambiente tan bien cuidado. Gracias 🙏

Excellent for breakfast and reasonably priced. I very much like their lack of pretentiousness. They stick to delivering a good quality breakfast without over complicating!

What a great place - cannot be faulted. Service, quality of food & presentation & atmosphere were all of an extremely high standard. There were 4 people in our group & we all had 3 courses - all of which were delicious & the staff were extremely helpful, polite & attentive. Would 100% recommend!

The lamb rump was full of fat, undercooked. Hard to chew. Daughter's birthday so she didn't want me to complain. £21 Quid as well.

Once again this place smashes it out of the park!! Went to the cinema early doors and fancied a bite to eat so just turned up at Heaney and Mills. We were immediately met with warm smiling faces and shown to our table. We were served by a delightful young waitress who even though she explained she was new was absolutely brilliant. Food and wine ordered, we sat in the gorgeous warm surroundings anticipating our food. We were not disappointed!! I had the burger and my wife had the cod. Both dishes were delicious. Then on to cheeseboard and sticky toffee pudding.. divine… All in all it was perfect. This must be the 20th time we’ve dined here and can honestly say it never disappoints.. we will be back soon (very soon hopefully) Keep up the great work guys!!

Superb food in a great location. The restaurant was busy when we visited and as such the service was a little slower than usual, however, it’s worth the wait!

This was a wonderful find for breakfast. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful, friendly and well attired. We enjoyed the whole experience and would return again.

Best Sunday lunch you’ll find in Leeds. I was half expecting this to be reasonable. I’ve been crafting my own Sunday roast for a few years and didn’t want to pay for something I could do better at home. Anyway - there’s no way I could do this at home. Absolutely delicious. In fact, beyond delicious. It was magnificent. Service was brilliant, too. Probably come back next weekend. Yum!

Food and service are always fantastic. Tried the Sunday roast (vegetarian) for the first time recently and it was soo good, think it will become my new go to place for a roast in Leeds!!

A good 4* in my opinion. Chorizo starter to big. Squid starter a little disappointing as coated in breadcrumbs. Cod main was lovely and fresh. Others also looked fine. Nice ambiance although was quiet but it was a Monday night in August!

Food offering was disappointing but service and atmosphere was good for recent private function.

Very disappointed service was definitely not the best and the food was definitely very average at very high prices. Certainly didn't feel very welcome by front of house and very definitely will not be paying a return visit.

Lovely place! Food is exceptional and the team are so lovely and attentive. Me and my family come here on a regular basis, especially special occasions, and have never been disappointed.

Recently had a birthday party the buffet food was amazing all my guests commented on how delicious the food was, the staff were also attentive. My guests will be returning to have a meal at the venue.

Fabulous food . Get an upstairs table if you can as its less crowded. Went for sunday lunch which had a variety of options of meat and a veggie option. Cooked very well and the sweets were divine

Had a lovely Sunday Roast here last weekend. I don’t usually leave reviews but I was so impressed I felt I had to.

I have eaten here on many occasion and the food is consistently good. Had an amazing brunch with a group of friends, the staff were all great and it has a lovely atmosphere.

we came for breakfast and it wasn't very good at all. they grill bread covered in olive oil. all you could taste was oil on the food. the beans were also not very good at all. eggs cooked nicely but due to all the oil it wasn't very nice. the restaurant itself also has a rather odd smell about it. I dont think we will be returning to be honest as £29 for 2 egg dishes didn't really meet the standards you would expect.

Lovely venue, smart but also relaxed and unpretentious. The food and wine were really good quality. We had a great evening and we will be back :)

Went here for a late lunch with 2 others. We all really enjoyed our food. The menu had sandwiches at £15 - which seemed rather steep! However, they came with fries, salad and coleslaw and turned out to be substantial meals and good value for money. There are several other places in the vicinity for eating out but this one is well worth considering.

Had a delightful business brunch at Heaney & Mill Leeds. The English breakfast was cooked to perfection. The ambiance was inviting, and the service was exceptional. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a breakfast or brunch. Will definitely return!

Great service and the food was terrific quality and good value. The signature sandwich was just a bit too rich and oily for my taste, but it was very tasty. The environment was clean, warm, comfortable and interesting but it was a lunchtime so the atmosphere wasn't as good as I'd expect it to be during the evening session. I'd definitely recommend it

I am from Singapore and was visiting the UK with my family of 9. We wanted a place to stop for lunch while driving between Manchester and York. Heaney & Mill was great in every way - service, food, coffee. Portions were relatively big for us so we shared, and the staff actually divided them into 2 plates for us!

We've been to both Heaney & Mill and the Sitting Rooms and absolutely loved both! The service we had from Paulo and Simon yesterday was outstanding and the food on the tasting menu was delicious! Highly recommend!

Disappointing breakfast, both me and my friend ordered eggs shakshuka and it was the worst we’ve ever tasted. The tomato sauce was so sweet that we couldn’t touch the poached eggs and both ended up only being able to eat the toast. Also the atmosphere wasn’t as good as it usually is, service not as friendly. It was unfortunate because I’ve always really enjoyed eating at H&M but I feel put off going again now after my last experience

Best Sunday Roast I have ever had

Very good selection of dishes, including gluten free. Duck breast and cod were beautifully presented and were delicious. The service was timely and waitress very friendly. Fantastic place for a romantic or casual dinner. I will come back for sure.

I had a veggie breakfast here which was very good. The food is very well presented and really tasty. It's a little bit more expensive than other places but worth it for that little bit extra.

Food is amazing here 5tart for that! Been there couple of times however the manager she was not welcoming today at all. When we told her we can’t sit upstairs because my mum can’t climb up the stairs she didn't pay any attention and rudely sent us upstairs! Later on when we asked the staff about the loo, he told us he doesn't know if there is any toilets so he had to ask the manager which we found it bizarre! Or didn't know how the card machine works! Perhaps some training?! Not a good experience here today unfortunately.

We had a lovely lunch here, standard was very high in terms of food and service. Nicely furnished, clean & modern surroundings. At my request they did me a 'small' Chicken caeser salad as a starter. My wife had salt & pepper squid served with sriracha sauce and Aioli sauce which was delicious, she had Wild garlic and Basil pesto linguine for her main, while I had the roast Cod and Katsu sauce served on napa cabbage, with a tempura king prawn. The cod was light and delicate, cooked perfectly. The flavours were mainly salt and sour but lifted by the golden raisins. First class .. we will be returning soon!

Service was good, and really enjoyed the food. Great vibes too, would definitely recommend brunch here. I had a salmon bagel, and it was delicious. I would have preferred the bagel toasted but not really a big thing and absolutely did not detract from what was an excellent brunch. Everything was super fresh. Feel that I need to mention the hash browns, which are fresh, hot, crunchy, and flavoursome. Very happy with these, and you must get them.

Unfortunately didn’t get to sample food on this occasion as cashier abruptly snd rudely stated she had 200 bookings and no walk ins. What happened to good manners

Fab place to go for breakfast - we go as a family every now and then for a treat! It is quite expensive, but the portion sizes are decent and the food is top quality. I love the photos on the walls harking back to when the restaurant was a photography studio, although my teenage daughter asked why they just had pictures of “old men” !!! Overall, I would really recommend this restaurant. The service is friendly, the standards are high and it’s different to anything else on offer in Headingley.

Visited Heaney & Mill for Brunch with my wife and 7 month old baby. The service was great and they seated us in a quiet area. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly.

amazing food (especially sunday dinner) but the service was not good. three members of staff asked who we were upon arrival which seemed confusing despite having a booking. we were then seated and waited a while (maybe 20-30 minutes though i wasn’t counting) until we were able to order. cutlery was not brought out to us. drinks took about ten minutes to come despite just ordering soft drinks. an older male server seemed flustered and confused the whole time, not just with our table but with everyone. when we got our food the server reached over to table to hand me the plate instead of putting it on the table, which is fine, but he gave me no warning that the plate would be hot. the food was excellent and i would come back for the food alone but the service was just appalling for somewhere with such a reputation. we sat with empty plates for at least 20 more minutes and had to get up to ask for the bill and then ask for the card machine as it wasn’t brought over too. i understand service can’t always be perfect but it wasn’t particularly busy and the servers seemed to be very forgetful and overwhelmed with simple tasks that can be worked on
