Much improved than when we visited about 4 years ago. Couldn’t find fault with anything, the food service and restaurant was excellent.

10/10 the food was amazing. Waitress are really friendly nice and quiet good place to go for a chat lunch or dinner. Food comes quick. Recommend

Updated review. Food was lovely, gammon was nice and crispy as ordered. Keely our waitress was lovely and friendly. In fact the whole bar staff were lovely. A huge improvement since my last review. Well done. Food here is so hit and miss. On one night the food can be great but another night it's awful. They really do seem to struggle with the definition of crispy bacon or gammon. I don't know if this is the waiting staff not passing correct instructions on how customers wants their food cooked or if its the chefs that are the problem.

The staff are really lovely and very helpful, service was quick and efficient. However, the food was overpriced and not worth it. My chicken was dry and crunchy, the desert was cold and congealed, the ice cream was crunchy? Again really polite and friendly staff but the food was not great. The next day I felt awful. I won’t be coming back anytime soon

Absolutely amazing service, Evelyn and Amy were great hosts and made us all feel very welcome! The food we had was excellently presented and we didn't wait very long!! Would definitely recommend this pub to all my friends and family! For a Chain pub it felt more like a family run pub!!

AMAZING Food! So Sad That I Had To Wait NEARLY AN HOUR! Servers Were Lovely Just A Shame It Took So Long!

An extremely poor experience almost from beginning to a long end. Booked on line for 18.30 by clicking the " Book Here" button in the pet friendly section of the website. Then told on arrival table for 6 was not reserved in the pet friendly area. So family could not sit next to each other having not met together for 8 months. Ordered food at 18.45. Just one poor young lad doing a great job running around delivering orders as fast as he could. But our food was not served for 70min. Steaks had been dried out under a heat lamp I guess and were not Rare or Medium. Then had to wait 5 minutes for cutlery to be bought to table. Service of 4 cold sweets was not much better. That took a further 20 minutes to arrive from placing the order. Staff overall were cheery, but ridiculously understaffed. Tables cleaned but sticky surfaces. Overall very poor experience.

We had a meal after my Dad's funeral and the service was impecable! Honestly Amy couldn't have done enough for us and was so attentive. Thank-you so much to Amy and the rest of the team for making a hard day that little bit easier xx

Absolutely disappointed beyond belief . As a lone female hotel occupant next to the pub , I was refused a table . They were busy but lots of space was available including in the bar where others were already eating. It was only just after 7 and I was prepared to wait the hour quoted for food , but still refused. I was told I could stay for a drink. ! Went back to my hotel and had biscuits for dinner as I didn't feel comfortable going elsewhere alone at night . Terrible customer service. I stay at the hotel frequently and have eaten here several times but no more .

I stay in a lot of travelodge hotels, the skylark next door was amazing. Fantastic staff, beautiful food (£12.99) for steak and chips. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely going to recommend to my boss I stay here more. Loved the place. I'm sorry but need to update this from just a week or so. It was like walking into a completely different pub. The service and food was shocking. I asked for medium rare on my steak....it was still alive and walking. When I was asked about it and I told the barmaid she just giggled at me. I right alot of reviews and I'm always 100% honest. Tonight was shocking.

Tuesday evening a meal for 2 Both are pescatarians. My wife had pasta and I had the veggie pie with mash and peas. The meals were great and good value. The service from AMY as usual was so friendly and attentive, making it a lovely evening Thank you 🙏

Visit quite regular. Good, basic bar meals, which cannot be beaten locally for value for money !! Food 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Space between tables 20/10 !! Lovely place to relax, eat, drink and enjoy 😊

Very good service and enjoyed my meal. Had the curry and a pint for £11.25 which is very good value. Some of the beers weren't available which was a bit disappointing so had to have a second choice.

We popped in after a birthday treat at Flip out, not expecting too much, it's a lot like a Wetherspoons. We were greeted well and shown to our table. Our server came and took our order, 2 adult curries, 1 kids curry, and a kids sausage and mash. After just over 30 minutes, our food arrived. The sausage and mash was missing the gravy, so we asked for that and then noticed the kids' curry was missing the poppadom and asked for that. The server came back with the poppadom held in her hand! When we questioned why it wasn't brought out on a plate her reply was "so you want it on a plate", well yes not held between your grubby fingers when my daughter has to eat it. We then asked to speak to the manager as her attitude was less than helpful, where she huffed, rolled her eyes, and walked off. The manager came back promptly, and when we explained, she was very apologetic, said it shouldn't have happened, and that she has had to speak to a server about this before. She offered us dessert on the house but we didn't have any. Overall the food was OK, the atmosphere was good, can't fault the manager but the service needs a lot of work.

2 childrens puddings took a while to come out, had to ask twice and it was only ice cream. Otherwise the food was lovely

Great pub style atmosphere /staff friendly / Even though there were menu items not available (awaiting a delivery) there is still so much to choose from the menu. Areas clean /dogs friendly ( not sure if restrictions bar /restaurant etc ) Spacious feeling and lots choice of where to sit. Food hot and palatable

Loved this place. Especially Evelyn. She made me feel welcome immediately and looked after me as if I was her only customer. The best thing was she was extremely busy, didn't stop, and it looked like she was making everyone else feel as valued as I did. Fabulous lady, excellent team member and a credit to your business...give her a promotion!!

I was waiting so long for food that my whole family actually turned to ashes right before my eyes. I was so outraged at how the food tasted that I proceeded to eat the remains of my family, the waiter revealed themselves to be a lizard person form the planet Kepler-b and said that the world would be destroyed in 5 minutes. My burger was alright though :)

I visited skylark with my partner and 2 children, they were very accommodating at the door to fins us a table where we could fit our buggy. Charlotte was our waitress for the evening, she was very friendly and was brilliant with our son. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely meal. The atmosphere was lovely and 2 lovely couples who were celebrating a birthday offered our son some of the cake. Overall it was a lovely night and we have no complaints about anything.

We first visited the skylark over 1 year ago and both said we’d never return due to the pricing and not much choice from the menu…. After some time we thought we’d come back and try again and myself and my partner had burgers… my partners exact words were best burger I’ve ever tasted. The meals were lovely however I’d say the portion size of the chips were poor not even a handful, good job the burger filled us up. We sat outside with our dog and enjoyed the sunshine we will definitely be back

We met up here with family and enjoyed a lovely evening. Faith greeted us as the door and between her and Dayell we were looked after really well. Excellent customer service. We did have to wait for our food for quite a while due to a very large party but we're informed of this from the outset and were happy to wait. We all had something different to eat and enjoyed our meals.

I had surf and turf and the steak was ordered as medium but came well done and was very tough, my fiancé had hunter’s chicken and it didn’t have any cheese or bbq sauce. The table was very sticky and was told by a member of staff that it is due to the cleaning product they use but at other eating establishments their tables are not sticky even though they use cleaning products.

The food was way below expected standards. Out of 8 meals only 1 was acceptable. The fish was overcooked and the chicken dry.

Had a lovely meal with a friend this evening , I had the Thai vegetable curry with added chicken it was delicious, definitely would choose that again . Staff as friendly as always .

Went for lunch we all had Tuesday special burgers were the most delicious we ve had in a long time hot tasty lots of chips and delicious Berger sauce. Amy was lovely and service was excellent. Thank you so much highly recommended

Had a meal which was the pie offer on Mondays which we upgraded by £1 to have the better drinks deal. The pub was extremely busy which wasn’t surprising and the nice waitress who was called Charlotte was absolutely brilliant. She was certainly under a bit of pressure to cope with everyone in the pub but was cool, calm and had a great sense of humour and brilliant customer service skills. Lovely meal really enjoyed ourselves, great value for money and top class service from Charlotte. Well done will be back when we visit Wellington next time.

Went for a breakfast but sadly they don't serve food until noon, so no breakfast , strange as at least two other couples asked for the same, lost opportunities me thinks. Service was OK and the place was very clean but does seem to lack something. It is very expensive, for very average fare, orange juice and a cup of tea over £7, two sandwiches over £16 , WOW !! Will not return, don't serve what we were actually looking for and can't afford those prices, suggest you look a little further afield for better choice and value.

First out booking was at 1pm for 12 people. There was no beef roast left for me to order for Sunday roast. Secondly the billing arrangement was shambolic even though the meals should have been discounted by 30% everything was included in the bill and I was told that the bill had to be paid as one. I was informed by one of your managers that the payment of the bill was £45 short which led to confusion by all my guests including myself. I reluctantly paid the £45 some 45 mins after we had finished our meal. However on arriving home and taking another look at the bill I discovered that the discount had not been applied, hence the £45 alleged deficit. I then drove back to the restaurant and spent another half hour waiting for my refund, even though your member of staff was very apologetic I was not offered a drink whilst I waited or any compensation for the upset, stress and inconvenience caused to me and my guests. The meal and occasion was good but all marred by the fact the discount was not applied when it should have been. A fundamental error on your behalf and on this basis how could I recommend you to any of my friends or wish to return myself.

My partner & I have been very regular visitors to the skylark over the past 10 yrs. We have never had cause to complain, but unfortunately our last visit was far from satisfactory. We were shown to our table, we gave a drinks order. It arrived 15 minutes later. We ordered food, my wife had scampi & I ordered sirloin steak. When our meals arrived I was surprised to see I had 8 chips on my plate.I had half a mushroom .I had to go in search of a steak knife as it was impossible for me to cut my steak. I ordered another drink & had to ask twice for it to arrive. We were both disappointed with the overall service. We both had a dessert, paid our bill & left. I didn’t bother to complain as I think someone served my food & they considered it was appropriate. I have left this feedback for no reason other than to say I’ve had 10 years of excellent food from the Skylark, I know it was valentines night but the pub was Not that busy .

Staff are more than willing to help Martin and Kate are excellent hosts. The food is always very good and the Skylark is one of the best places to visit in Wellington.

The pub looks nice but service is slow. We were warned about a 30 min wait but they pub wasn't busy so can only assume not enough staff Our waitress was lovely and helpful so thank you to her. The food was passable only. My steak was OK but not very hot. My husband had the mixes grill and you could have soled your boots with the chicken and the rest was bland. Burger was also middling for the price. We used to come fairly regularly but must admit its slipped to the bottom.of the list now.
