Deckhouse in Taunton Deane

It's a nice place. Food and drink is good but make sure they can seat you in a decent place. We were plonked in a row of tables with people quite close beside us. Not comfortable for anyone.

I ordered different meet on the board, which was delicious, my order come on time. The service is great and staff are very friendly

Lovely decor and a nice atmosphere, but the meal was possibly the worst I have had in a restaurant in years. I ordered the chargrilled chicken and was served a plate with no chicken on it, then had to wait for them to cook the chicken so this could be rectified. My mum ordered the veggie surfside bowl and it looked like the contents of a meal deal salad box. My husband had the chicken shawarma which was served as a fatty, slimy and flavourless whole chicken thigh. The staff were defensive, verging on argumentative over issues raised. My first time visiting, but I won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend to any of my Taunton friends sadly.

I came with a group of friends for the tapas, wine tasting and quiz night. Amazing value for money! Good food and drink, funny quiz host and not like your usual boring quiz. Would definitely recommend and we’ll be back soon!

My husband and I regularly go here for lunch. There is a lovely atmosphere here the staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is lovely and affordable. It can get busy at lunch time so we reserve a table this is our monthly treat were over 70. Highly recommend.

I was invited to sing for an event here last weekend & was so impressed! The event was planned very well & the venue is great. The team were all lovely & made sure I was well looked after. All of the customers had such a fun evening with great food & lots of dancing & singing along - the atmosphere was amazing! I'm looking forward to returning here soon. Deckhouse Taunton is a brunch gem. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and seriously delicious food. The smashed avo with poached eggs and halloumi was spot on, and the coffee was perfect. Everything feels fresh and thoughtfully done. Can’t wait to go back — easily one of the best brunch spots around!

Had 3 x grilled chicken burgers and chunky chips with my daughters. Great food, friendly attentive staff, clean and a nice atmosphere. The chunky chips were definitely up there with the best we have ever had. Will definitely return on our next trip to Taunton. Price was very reasonable too.

We had brunch here the day after our wedding and it was fab! The food and drinks were delicious. There were 25 of us, we had our own section and we were really looked after. Tanya was amazing, so helpful and brilliant - thank you! It was a perfect end to our wedding.

Myself and my family have eaten at the deckhouse time and time again and the food is always excellent. I definitely recommend it for brunch!

I had an absolutely fantastic breakfast here! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The avocado toast with poached eggs was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. The coffee was rich and smooth—just what I needed to start the day. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a delicious and relaxing breakfast experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The staff are very attentive, and the tapas were lovely. We were served by Chloe and she was brilliant, nothing was too much and we were never left waiting. Feel like everyone went above and beyond, would recommend to everyone!

The staff are absolutely lovely and very attentive. The venue is charming and atmospheric. Good selection of tapas.

New waitress is lovely, but the experience fell short on incompetent managers that served little to no help. Even tried to remove a dish a lady on another table was clearly still trying to eat. Managers need to schedule more staff to help cover their laziness. Not impressed, rather embarrassed on their behalf. Maybe stop wandering around tapping an empty tray and help your staff. Waited 2 hours for mains and then definitely wasn’t worth waiting for.

We enjoyed the vegetarian Full English Breakfast (for lunch) - the halloumi and potato rosti were particular favourites, and there was no fake meat to have to endure. That made it worth the price. Our server, Chloe, was fantastic! She gave us service with a smile - she was friendly, confident and seemed happy to be working at the Deckhouse. The plants help to create a relaxing atmosphere.

Came here for a drink but our lovely waitress chloe convinced use to try a few of the tapas to go along with our drinks and boy are we glad we took her advice, the food was amazing, tasty and well presented. I definitely recommend the parmesam fries. Service was quick and staff were lovely. Atmosphere was relaxed,the restaurant/bar is spacious and bright with comfortable seating. Toilets avaliable.

My vegan dishes were tasty but the elements that should have been hot were barely warm. This was the same for my friends with their meat and fish dishes. Would like better vegan meal options than a tart or a burger. Dog friendly at least.

I had a steak which was lovely, soft and tender. Cooked perfectly. Chloe, our server was great. Attentive and always with a smile.

Nice but cold… Arrived and was seated the furthest point from the bar in an area that was single glazed and freezing!! I appreciate in the summer it is probably lovely, however in 4 degree weather there needs to be an alternative heating solution. I was asked whilst being seated “do you know what you want to drink or do you want me to come back” naturally I asked for a few minutes. 20 minutes later I was asked am I ready to order now. Food came, we had eggs royale and avocado on toast with poached eggs. Eggs royale was pretty average, but the avocado meal was really good!! Coffees came promptly and were aesthetically lovely and tasted great! Overall a bit pricey, very cold in the winter (unless close to the bar), brilliant atmosphere, great food and definitely would return!

Had a wonderful late breakfast this weekend at Deckhouse, the food was amazing and nothing felt too much trouble for the staff. The general manager Chris came over and checked we were enjoying ourselves, it felt a nice touch that he genuinely cared.

Great coffee and atmosphere here today, (Boxing Day) at my favourite place in Taunton. Sorry that you are experiencing problems with the oven and were unable to serve hot food. This must really have affected your takings. Pity we overheard a lady giving you a bit of a hard time over this. Lack of understanding and how hospitality staff are treated amazes me. Still, in true professional style, you continued to smile through this. Apologies we couldn't rate your food today because of obvious reasons

Nice place to meet something missing as regards staff team work and cohesion.

We arrived for dinner, each ordered a starter and a main. The starters came out quickly but then we waited a really long time for the mains to come out, when they did veg and mash potatoes were cold and the main parts were warm at best. The flavours were also quite bland all around and we ended up leaving a lot of food. Aside from the long wait time for the mains the service was also really slow with no-one clearing the empty glasses from the table. When we told them about the temperature of the food they did take 50% off some of the mains but still added a 10% service charge onto our bill too without saying anything.

Fish pie was burnt and should never have been allowed to leave the kitchen. The replacement (some time later) contained very little fish and took a long time to cool enough to eat so must have been microwaved or placed in an air fryer. My friends had finished their meal before I’d even started!

It is a wonderful place to gather with friends or family for an evening of laughter, joy, good food, and great service. The feeling of warmth when entering makes you feel welcomed and the staff are all too happy to help.

Looking for afternoon food for 3 and we were not disappointed! Between us we were able to order a very random selection that made everyone happy thanks to their huge range of food, including hot drinks, brunch, beers, tapas and a burger. All of it was excellent. Really lovely feel to the place and very spacious.

I waited for an hour, and for £26, I got four small cuts of steak. They advertised it as 10oz. Heck, Wetherspoon, and Piano and Pitcher has 8oz steak on their menu, and they have bigger portions, for even nearly HALF the price. Heck, I would eat better steaks at Miller and Carter's for £40 and they'd still be worth it. This place sucks. Won't ever come back here. Awful. The worst experience I've ever had dining. I usually take pictures of my steak dining out but this was laughable at best so I didn't bother. I didn't like the waitress too giving us attitude when I asked if that was the right order, when I looked at the plate they served. Man, this is a waste of space in town.

I had lunch here with my mum, and it was lovely. The pasta dish was sensational; beautifully cooked and just the right amount. The vegetarian brunch was also delicious, and so fresh. The staff were lovely; very friendly and attentive. We will be back soon.

Hands down my favourite place to go when I visit Taunton. It’s decorated lovely and had a nice atmosphere but the main attraction is how impeccable the service is here. The staff are absolutely incredibly and deserve a raise because they make the experience extremely inviting, friendly and accommodating.

Came today with familt. Great coffee. I had a bear in the milk Brunch was massibe and great value. My dog loved tje redrursnt and treat!

My 2nd visit since it had opened, lovely building and I like the decor, food just doesn’t stand up to the price. I had fish and chips, neither was crispy. You could bend the chips in half without snapping and they tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. The mushy peas were khaki in colour rather than a bright pea green as you would expect from freshly made. I have eaten the same dish at other local establishments which cost a couple of pounds more but I’m happy to pay as the difference in flavour of freshly cooked produce is totally worth it !

We came on Saturday for brunch and ordered two rounds of hazelnut coffee along with two English breakfast platters, one being vegetarian. The service is great, the ambiance is nice, but there are limited vegetarian options. The coffee was exceptional— rich, smooth, and perfectly brewed, making it the highlight of our meal.

Had lovely lunch with friends. Friendly staff including Joe who got our table sorted. Lovely waitress Kate looked after us and took order. Food delivered promptly and was really tasty. I had delicious salad and halloumi and flatbreads and was well priced. I was so pleased we had come here and will definitely come again,

Accommodating staff leads to a lovely meal, we'll be back! The food service side was full up on this particular day, but the bar staff was willing and had us sit in their side to be served. The atmosphere was a good mix of appealing energy with just a little of home like cozy. As for the food, it was delicious! The tapas variety is a great bit tbh, you can choose a few to share and they are good size. The parmesan tossed chips were hugely moreish and the eggs royal was a rich feeling brunch along side our tapas. It was a great visit and stop in!

Just walked out of restaurant after being left without service for 12 minutes. Staff walking around not paying any attention to us whilst serving other people. Totally ridiculous. Wont be back.

We had a brilliant night. The food was delicious and the wine was really good too. The staff were all really sweet and couldn’t do enough to make sure we all had fun. On the evening we were there, they had a live singer who was amazing and really got the party started! I can’t wait to go back!

Prompt service initially. Didn't enjoy my brunch dish, very difficult to eat the way it was presented, and egg undercooked (partners poached egg wasn't even a little bit runny though!). Ate less than half my meal, no one asked how it was at all through the meal, at the collection of the dishes, or the paying of the bill. No one said goodbye on leaving, even though a few stood at the bar. Won't be returning or recommending. Shame as the inside is totally my vibe.

Brunch is something worth having here.

Nice place, but please be very aware when ordering wine! £14 for a glass of white wine is extortionate!!!!! We paid £24 for 2 glasses of wine, we visit London every couple of months and have never paid that there, which you probably would accept! Shame because we have told all our friends how nice it was but now we'll have to warn then!

We popped in whilst passing for brunch. The decor and atmosphere were both great. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was definitely the highlight though. The veggie brunch was perfectly cooked, poached eggs with runny yokes, amazing potatoe rosti. We'll definitely visit again.

We came along to the Deckhouse into for a bottomless brunch. We were very impressed with the whole experience. The food was lovely, the drinks were delicious (and plentiful!) and the server - I believe his name was Joe(?) - was wonderful. Would highly recommend :)

Have been many time now and always have had good service & the food has always been good. Staff are very friendly. Will be going again. They also have a very good wine selection but it's not cheap. It's in a very good location in the town centre. Also it is comfortable inside.

A great surprise... we didn't really want the 'standard' junk food and stumbled across this place. Comfortable and great for families or a relaxing meal. We returned a couple of days later.
