The skewer House was without a doubt absolutely amazing in every way! The food was impeccable, all the staff were welcoming and gave fantastic service! I can't wait to go again!

Had a lovely meal here this past weekend. Food was superb. Lamb was cooked to perfection, and the selection of sides and bread was utterly fantastic. Only gripe was feeling a little rushed to get through the meal and order etc as had 2 or 3 people asking if we'd like the bill. However, was overall impressed with the service and will be back !

Had another lovely evening here, friendly staff, drinks order came wrong but quickly rectified, no fuss and pretty laid back. Tasty food and fun to eat makes for a great and convivial evening!

The food was amazing ! Lamb 10/10 Unfortunately the the brunette lady who is « supposed » to be in charge of the waitresses was very unpleasant as soon as we arrived. We felt almost unwelcome (we didn't have a reservation confirmation but the restaurant had at least 10 free tables so.. well..) Even worse: when serving these wonderful lambs (thanks to the chef and his team), she downright yelled at us because we did not give the places of our dishes to the nearest second (we were with 2 children so a bit of understanding wouldn't hurt...). In short, great dish but disastrous service from this brunette lady. The other young people who cleared and served us were great! courage to them ! But I don’t think the restaurant is the right work for this lady tbh ! Good luck

They have the most ridiculous way to book a table. At first they don't answer the 5 emails, sent to them within the last 2 weeks! I go into the restaurant to try and book a table, they claim to not have their diary to hand to be able book one and then.... They reply to one of my emails claiming to not have received the others errrr..DOH! We won't be eating here then!

First time here despite coming to live in Taunton five years ago. Excellent food and great atmosphere inside. The meals are filling and good price for freshly cooked food. Booking recommended as it gets busy!

First time visiting here with friends. Not only is the food and atmosphere amazing but the whole evening is an experience. A skewer of halloumi over flaming ouzo was so fun! As a vegetarian there was lots on offer. The house special is a great deal and plenty of food for 2 to share! The halloumi was so nice with the roasted vegetables. The cheesecake was a huge slice and 2 of us couldn’t finish it! Will definitely return!

Took my dad and partner here with my husband for my birthday. I’ve been a few times so know the food is amazing so wanted to show my dad. Fantastic food as always the lamb is so tender and tasty. Also had a cheesecake which in the past have been a bit meh but this lemon meringue one was amazing! What I will say is perhaps we could have a bit less service? Not joking we had 4 different servers at least come and ask us how the food was. Pretty sure at one point we did have every single one working come and ask us the same thing we made a joke of it like oh who haven’t we seen think it’s just the girl with brown hair oh there she is! So yeah maybe just the one dedicated server so we don’t get harassed would’ve been good. We were there when they just opened so maybe they were a bit bored or just wanted us out quicker. We weren’t there long we had to fend them off to try and get a break between meal and cheesecake think we only managed 15 mins. But yeah if you haven’t been you absolutely must go it’s the best food in Taunton in my opinion. When everyone else seems to be lowering the quality and upping the price these guys don’t seem to be following that trend!

Stunning food, excellent service with a very helpful explanation by our Waitrose of what and how to order . Very authentic Portuguese experience here . Our 2nd time, our friends first time . Food cooked as we all liked it to medium rare to well done . We love it here

We picked this restaurant at random while staying locally simply to try a different style of food but were rewarded with delicious food served by delightful staff.

Quirky and rustic with a good atmosphere, enjoyable different to the norm dining experience with a holiday vibe, food is tasty with good variety of flavours, deserts are sweet. Service was good. Car park behind is free after 6pm.

I was not satisfied with the indifference and sarcarsm on the part of the Portuguese employee who served us, firstly, there were 3 Brazilians and an Englishwoman, we ordered for Portuguese, my colleague asked a simple question, about the different dishes, she responded badly and said for him to ask her questions in English, I found it disrespectful and pure arrogance, not everyone speaks English very well and takes refuge in being served in an environment that speaks the same language, I considered this an attitude of mockery and racism, as was the our first time at the venue we were a little lost in the menu, she called an English attendant because she didn't want to speak Portuguese, and the attendant said, good luck with them, I speak little English but I understood the abuse very well, we will never return to this restaurant, and I will not recommend it to any Brazilian friend, simple as that

A fantastic meal, can highly recommend the beef skewer, halloumi and maize. We weren't expecting the cheesecakes to be as big as they were - amazing!

The First thing we noticed about The Skewer House as we walked in the door was the atmosphere. Everyone looked like they were having an amazing time. It looked very lively and fun. This made us very excited for the evening. The staff were very attentive. We were seated quickly, served quickly and all requests were handled with care. The food came on giant skewers which was an amazing experience that none of our party had seen before. Everything we ate tasted tender and full of flavour. For dessert we ordered the Diam bar cheese cake. This was to die for! If you go I definitely recommend trying their cheese cakes, honestly the best cheese cake I've ever had! It was the first time my family had come all the way from Norfolk to visit me here in Taunton since I moved. We went here for our first meal and what a great start to there visit! They absolutely loved it! It make our catch up together very special with lots to talk about. Thank you to the Skewer House for a wonderful evening. We hope to visit again soon.

Just been here and the food was amazing nice, the staff and kind and can have a good laugh with them, this is what I call a lovely meal out with friends or family or even on your own. Would recommend this to anyone and already have to friends and family, was a great evening.

We had our meal on the 30/3/24. The first thing we commented on when arriving was the atmosphere which was welcoming and exciting. We then ordered our drinks, followed by food all within good time and were served very quickly. All the staff were friendly and warm towards their customers and very attentive to any requests. The food was incredible, we loved all of it. Everything was full of flavour and at a reasonable price. The best part for me was the dessert. The cheese cake was to die for, honestly I've been craving another one ever since! We booked with The Skewer House as a celebration after not seeing my Dad for so long and it was a brilliant atmosphere for this occasion. The experience of having food on the skewers definitely gave us something to talk about as it was something new for all of us and we love it! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Always the best night out in Taunton. Food is delicious and fresh, and good value with big portions! From the flaming chorizo to the house-made dessert selection, everything is incredible. Friendly staff and brilliant atmosphere. I always feel like I'm on an island holiday when I eat here.

Was told about this place over and over by many of my colleagues at how lovely the food is. And wow were they right. First time was the Xmas party and then in the new year. Everything I've had so far had been amazing. Have had the 3 course on each occasion. I'm in the process of working my way through the menu. The staff are great and the place has a great ambience. Skewer House is my favourite eatery in Taunton. Anytime we have friends or family come to visit I try to bring them here. Note to readers: book as early as you can because they fill up quickly. 📖 So far we have tried lamb, chicken, prawn and steak kebabs. Have yet to try the flaming chorizo dish, which is equally exciting to see sat on adjacent tables ablaze. 🔥 The decor is authentic and atmospheric. Notably the melted down candles that greet the entrance and dried garlands set the tone of the evening - transported from damp British high street to the sub-tropical Mediterranean. 🌺 Food has always been cooked well and sauces are delicious. A large choice of side-dishes makes it hard to pick just a few. We tend to go for the one skewer with 2 sides deal. Brought my partner's mum here who identifies as a "fussy eater", and even she complimented her food. 💁 Lastly but certainly not least.... Poncha cocktails! Highly recommend, but beware... One may lead to another. 🤩🍹🥭

My favourite place to eat , staff are so friendly and can cater for larger groups. The food is out of this world , comes out quickly and the flame grilled chorizo offers a bit of theatre at the table. puddings home made and delicious .the atmosphere /decor is 10/10.

This is our go to restaurant in Taunton. Amazing food at very reasonable prices. With some sangria and the cosy atmosphere it transports you to be holidaying in Europe. The staff are lovely and friendly too. For our 10th anniversary they gave us a glass of prosecco to celebrate. Fantastic!

A return visit (all be it some years ago was the last time). We sat at 8 pm mid week, and the restaurant had a few tables of people eating and a gentle buzz. To begin with, we had a young man serving us, and he was fab, helpful etc, but this changed (I guess staff got sent home as we were the only table in after half an hour). Starters were nice. You cook your own sausage or Halloumi! Main courses came and were again nice, but by this time, there was a definite chill in the air like a door was open? It's not often you need to pop a coat on to eat your dinner. At this point, it was if we were forgotten for half an hour or so. We had desserts included in our dinner, but these were not offered, and when I came to pay, I asked and was told absolutely we had to pay for them 🤔. The food was alright and nice, not as good as before, service needs some work on, keep the place warm, and you will have happy guests. It's not cheap to eat out in general. The Skewer house is on the higher side. Need some more value added in, I feel.

Fantastic authentic Portuguese restaurant offering the most amazing hanging kebabs. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his birthday surprise meal finished off with the maltesers cheesecake.

To be honest, we felt it was very rushed. Our main came out whilst we were eating our starter!!! Asking about a pudding before we finished our main!!! We wouldn't go back in a hurry!!!! The food was good. The waitress who took our money when we paid admitted having to rush the customers so they can get in more people in and get more money!!!

Such a delightful dining experience, really authentic and delicious food! Such friendly staff and really accommodating with allergies. Plus excellent vegan and gluten free cheesecakes! Would 100% recommend thank you ☀️☀️

This is one of the most exquisite meals I’ve ever had it was the most delicious pieces of Food I have put in my belly it was so good it was a heavenly experience and I love it with all the bones in my body the service was most divine would recommend here it is delicious

First time visiting here but will definitely be back. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we were given complimentary glass of Prosecco each. We had the lamb and the king prawn with squid and 2 sides followed by cheesecake with morello cherries and Portuguese tarts. I think we should have ordered flatbread to go with the food but perhaps next time. The food was very tasty, lamb was tender although it was all quite salty as extra salt was sprinkled over prior to serving (we could see the kitchen). Personally I prefer to add my own salt if I want more. The service was great, very friendly and helpful.

Don't go early. IE 18.30 Rush rush rush All a rush to serve you food. Main comes before you've finished starter. They want early eaters out to get the table ready for the 8 o'clock sitting. It's on their website if you can be bothered to read it all, fine print.!! Food was OK but got cold quick.

Lovely restaurant, delicious food, great atmosphere and attentive staff. Just be warned it's £2 per pot of sauce i.e pot of mayo or peri peri sauce etc, they don't tell you that when they offer it. Otherwise would highly recommend.

The food came out very quick and very tender. The atmosphere was very chilled and the staff very friendly. We would definitely book again and recommend to all to give a go. You won’t be disappointed.

I love this place... the food is fabulous and reasonably priced, a good selection of drinks, and the desserts are amazing (particularly the cheesecake)! If I had to choose a last meal, it would be something from here!

This establishment is absolutely fabulous from the delightful atmosphere to the generous portions. Staff were so lovely and polite very informative. The food was Devine! We will be back!!!
