Skye Skins Café & Shop in Highland

Fuimos a esta tienda Skye Skins específicamente para comprar algunas pieles de oveja para enviar de vuelta a casa. Es una cafetería y una tienda de té con una pequeña tienda adjunta donde puedes comprar los productos Skye Skin si no tienes tiempo para visitar su curtiduría. Fuimos capaces de comprar dos hermosas pieles y una maravillosa botella de agua caliente almohada de piel de oveja y el costo de enviarlos a casa, después de que obtuvimos la devolución de impuestos, fue razonable. Estoy muy emocionada de recibirlos. La mujer que nos ayudó, que cría sus propias ovejas, era muy servicial y amable.

We went to the tannery where they make the skins as per the tourist leaflet rather than the shop in Portree. The leaflet advertised free tours. When got there the staff were nice but the man said tours had stopped for lunch. We had driven miles on not very good roads to get there and didn't want to wait for an hour. So had a quick look round and left. Disappointed. Would suggest tour times are advertised or bookable to avoid this happening to others.

This was our second time at Skye Skins and we loved everything. From the presentation of the the skin "creating" process to the shop and the products. This time we bought a beautiful sheep skin (Mimosa) and an amazing cow hide. Last time we bought 2 sheep skins and they are still immaculate. The quality of the skins is the highest we have come across and they will last forever.

Great food in this cafe. We had a delicious lunch and coffee! A fab stop after swimming at the Fairy Pools. Great service and dog friendly too!

Dropped in for coffees and cakes. We weren’t disappointed lovely fresh coffees and great cakes. They also allow dogs and when it’s sunny have a patio area overlooking Portree Bay. Friendly owner/ manager and they also sell sheepskin items. Well worth a visit.

Sheep skins every which way and a very knowledgeable man was there to explain the whole process from live sheep to a tanned fleece. I bought a rather fine hat. Here’s hoping for a cold 🥶 winter ❄️

This was a delightful experience. Very friendly and knowledgeable lady who gave us our tour and then let us browse in the shop. Nothing was too much trouble. It was so interesting to learn that a traditional skills were still being used on the island. We were sad that the cafe had shut for the season but think it would have been very interesting to have had coffee in a yurt!!!

Awesome coffee! This is the best flat white I’ve had in Scotland, it was so good we came back for more another day! Brilliant cakes too. Right next to the free car park with views over the bay.

Zufällig entdeckten wir dieses neue Café im Herzen von Portree, wie wir unser Auto auf dem grossen Gratisparkplatz abstellten. An sonnigen Tagen gibt es wunderbare Sitzgelegenheiten aus Holz mit Schaffellen um darauf zu sitzen. Die überwältigend Aussicht ist auf die Bucht lädt zum Verweilen ein. Der Cappuccino ist sehr lecker und ein Stück frischen Kuchen eine tolle Ergänzung. Der Shop ist eine Filiale von Skye Skyns in Waternish, wo der manuelle Gerbe-Prozess mitverfolgt werden kann. Die ausgestellten Artikel aus mehrheitlich Leder oder Schaffellen ist sehr stylisch! Besuchen und träumen,
