Skipton Balti House in Craven

8 of us went, 7 great meals but one of our party ordered a lamb main course cooked over night per the menu -it was tough as old bots -I tried it so definitely a great recommended restaurant but one dish totally wrong

Walked up to the entrance and worried it was going to be really tiny inside but we were so wrong. It was a lovely little restaurant setting and the food was fabulous. Both my partner and I were in agreement that the Onion Bhaji and the chicken tikka starters were one of the best we have ever had. Compliments to the chef as the food was faultless. We will visit again on our next trip to Skipton.

Good value, great people, and helpful if you want something different (not on the menu). The upside, All the dishes we chose had a fantastic depth of complex flavours. The downside, I ordered garlic rice and garlic naan, however, you'd really struggle to taste the garlic, shame really.

The entrance to this place is rather drab and underwhelming. The restaurant is on the first floor up a flight of steps. We had sheek kebabs for starters which had the appearance and flavour of being bought rather than made. No sauce was offered to accompany them so lucky we had kept hold of the pickle tray! The main course was much better - the king prawn begum being particularly tasty. However the side dishes are of micro proportions. Tasty plain naan bread.

My partner ordered a glass of coke, it came flat, so asked for it to be swapped as gas must need changing, the waiter swapped it poured out of a big bottle of rola cola, it was still flat as a fart! We ordered our food, it took an hour to arrive, my partners was good, she got chicken shashlik, mine however, the Asian style fish massala was horrific, I honestly though they had served me a dish of plum tomatoes in sauce at first sight, the fish was thin and slimey, the sauce was like a red soup, totally inedible, we wasn't asked how our food was, I ate my chips and chapatis but couldn't eat the slop, it couldn't be classed as a curry! There was a constant queue for takeaway orders, this may be resulting too much pressure on the chef, as this affected the standard of my food compared to previous visits, sadly won't be returning

This is an excellent curry house. We all had the £14 three course special which was great value and all our dishes were very good. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended

What a great find, recommend by local people we decided to visit on our last evening in Skipton. The food was wonderful as was the service from friendly staff, had a wonderful chat with Ali who took time to make us extremely welcome. Will return again when we next visit Skipton, would highly recommend this wonderful Indian restaurant. Thank you to all at Skipton Balti House.

After waiting an hour we got really good starters. Another hours wait and we got main courses which were bland and tasteless. Unfortunately we could not reccomend this resteraunt.

On arrival the staff could not find our pre booking and it was touch and go if we would have a table. They found us one but then after a 40 min wait bought our mains instead of starters! To be fair the starters were lovely. We then saw people being turned away despite pre booking! We then had to ask for our mains after another forty mins. When they came they were very bland and basic. While the staff were friendly we will not be going back again

Altogether a great experience. Food was amazing and staff were very pleasant. The price of the food and drink was very reasonable too

Lovely meal, great value and a super chef/proprietor who made us very welcome. There were some good veggie optioms for a non meet eating family.

When I chose my dish it wasn't what I thought it was going to be, the chef came out and was so helpful and very very accommodating he changed my dish to my taste even though it wasn't on the menu. I Highley recommend this restuarant. Friendly and good prices too. We will be back soon.

Once again on a trip to Skipton this restaurant provided excellent food and service. I love King prawn dishes and there are 2 King prawn specials to be found here that I have not come across before. Both exceptional. My husband has always enjoyed his chosen dishes too. Onion Bhajis and sides of a high quality too and all freshly cooked and served. Faultless yet again. Wish I had photographed more than my Bhajis.

Curries we ordered were delicious! We had curries, starters and sides and only came to £31 so very cheap for what you get. The gentleman that served us was very polite and the service was great :) thanks very much!

We went to this restaurant twice during our stay .The staff were very friendly and even gave my husband a recipe for a dip on the pickle tray and gave us a free pot of it. I would highly recommend here. Food was fantastic :)

We have been to this curry house a number of times over the years and always excellent. Had a takeaway tonight for first time. Absolutely delicious. Good polite service and delivery. Chicken bhuna plus chicken Kathmandu various starters and side. Best curry I have had for years and that's in a restaurant as well. If this is what takeaway is like bring on when lock down finishes. I can't recommend enough. Hubby goes for a lot of curries in Bradford Keighley etc when open and this is way up there with the best. Can't wait for next takeaway.

We ate in this restaurant last night ,we remembered how good it was the last time we visited skipton. The owner is very welcoming and the food is amazing ,also the price is very reasonable. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Oldest restaurant in town and I know why best Indian curries ive had in a long time. Highly recommend trying the South Indian garlic.. beautiful.

We are on a break in Skipton and was advised to try the Skipton Balti House. Thank you Two Doors for your recommendation, you are absolutely correct this restaurant absolutely delivers a fabulous meal. I can honestly say it is without doubt the nicest Indian meal I have ever tasted and I’ve tasted many, believe me. The staff ‘pushed us in’ at short notice and were charming and attentive, we are talking you Chodhri, so thank you, (Michael and Susan Newcastle ha ha).Joking aside if you fancy a curry and are anywhere near Skipton, do yourself a favour and try here first.

I couldn’t rate this Restaurant more !! The food is always amazing we usually get take away but with the eat out for half price deal ok we decided to go in.Our server Chowdhury (not sure on how to spell the name my Apologies ) was so lovely and accommodating and the food beautiful as ever.

I moved from Birmingham to Skipton 12 years ago now. This was the very first curry house I visited (day 1 when I moved)! Ive tried every curry house that has opened (and closed) in the area and time and time again I always go back to Skipton Balti House. So I have decided after my visit last week, when Mr Choudary gave me another warm welcome, with awesome food, I am not goi ng to go anywhere elese

This is good Indian in the middle of Skipton. This was busy and the food was very good with an extensive menu. What is common in Indians is the poppadoms and the dips and they were excellent here crisp and tasty.The starters were excellent and the kitchen did an onion free meal for me though it did take them two go’s.

What can we say .. everything was delicious.. Mr Chowdaray was excellent.. recommending meals for one fussy eater .. so glad he did .. it was lovely. We will definitely be back.. thank you

Chicken Tikka masala, chips, peshwari rice very tasty.Chicken Karahai was poor quality, not very spicy and full of what tasted like lime pickle. Cheese Naan was bland.Service was okay.On payment, was told that the cash machine was not working and hadn't been working properly for a few days. Had to leave, walk to a cash point, draw money out and walk back to pay. Not great. Would suggest putting up a sign informing customers re the faulty cash machine or inform them straight away.

My husband and I came here after reading reviews and so pleased we did. Brilliant friendly service. We had poppadoms and pickles to start. One out of the pickle tray really stood out and was delicious. The front of house gent who looked after us said he made it himself. He brought me one to take home. I wish I could remember the name of it. It was creamy and garlicky with a lovely hint of spice. Our main dishes were delicious. Thankyou for wonderful food and service. We will call again on our next visit to Skipton.

Came in mid week with friends. Being vegetarian I wanted something bespoke and the team were happy to oblige. The curry's were delicious. So fresh and had such a great time. Would very much recommend.

The food is absolutely wonderful Onion barges to die for Tandoori Lamb chops were relay tender tender and the pashwari rice was just the right amount of coconuty.

Not as good as last time we visited. Place was very quiet, food just about average, but I suppose for the money we can’t grumble.

We visited Skipton with friends and were looking for somewhere for an early evening dinner. The locals in the nearby pub all recommended the Skipton Balti House and we were not disappointed.

Visited here for an early dinner while on holiday. Food was great and good value for money. We were the only diners in but we were early. Some old favourites on the menu plus a few dishes that were new to us.

Being lovers of a good curry finding this treasure was amazing. We told the guys what we like hot tasty etc they prepared us a traditional dish with some twists told us how to mix it to get the best taste combination and I can honestly say it was absolutely amazing. Definitely reccomebd this place

Had a lovely meal at the Skipton balti house. My husband and I chose there because of great reviews and we weren’t disappointed. I had the special balti and my husband the benhi lamb. Had to come to Skipton for a funeral and just googled a curry house near our overnight stay. Very lucky that the Balti house came up. Fantastic food and very friendly service. Made a sad trip very much more enjoyable. Would thoroughly recommend.

So glad we didn’t go by some of the reviews and went for our last night in Skipton meal here On arrival the welcome was friendly and polite the atmosphere was relaxed and we were not hurried to give our order We had mixed starters a Chom Chom a balti and a buttered chicken all the meals were light and really flavoursome We have no hesitation in saying try this restaurant you won’t be disappointed.

We had takeaway here last night for four people. The food was generally good. The tandoori chicken was extra delicious. Onion Bhaji was really not good- very dry. Liked that the currys were not swimming in ghee. Good naan bread.

Went for family birthday l8 people ! . The waiters could handle this many at the same time food was not that good . Trying to pay the bill was a joke and some of the staff were unhelpful . Will not go back

I've been here a few times over the past few years that I've lived here. The service is great and the food is delicious and flavourful.

I walked pass this place on lunch time though I would try a curry for my evening meal. I ordered Tandori chicken starter - this was very tasty and and very succulent not the usual dried out chicken. My main course I chose Chicken Rogan Josh again this was very tasty and full of flavour. It’s the best curry I have had in long time just a shame there not nearer to me as I would be a regular here. Tremendous value and excellent service. The atmosphere was good and very busy but the stafff / waiter were very good and helpful nothing to much trouble. I would recommend here I will return when I come to Skipton again.

Swimming in oil,tasteless,over use of chilli powder,vegetables if used at all were barely recognisable. Well known dishes such as jalfrezi, sag paneer and Bhuna were shockingly disappointingly different from anything tasted before .Nice popadoms,good nan bread made up for it.

Fantastic food, great value as we ordered off the set menu, great friendly staff, all courses were excellent with fast service, highly recommend and will visit here next time in Skipton. Great value £8.95 for the set meal

This is our favourite Indian restaurant in our area and it never disappoints, great food, service and value for money, can't go wrong and can't beat it !

We tried out this restaurant on a Sunday evening. We went for the brilliant value £8.95 meal. It was quite quiet so we got served quickly. The food was beautiful and not too much. The staff were very attentive. I will definitely eat here again.

Visited here with my wife adult son and his girlfriend. It was my sons birthday and we had originally planned to go to Kalco Jacks but when we got there all the Electricity had gone off. We came across the Balti House as we were searching for another restaraunt at short notice. WHAT A FIND. Exellent food ; good size portions and very tasty food. The even better suprise was the bill. What exellent value for money. I don't suppose there are many restaraunts in Skipton where you can find a half decent bottle of wine for £12.50 these days. We will be defiantly returning here

Went there as recently moved to Skipton , this place has a lot of competition with Aagraas being just round the corner ! The food we had was excellent and a lot of different curry dishes that iv never seen on a menu before , for example the Pakistani balti , I had this and it was just delicious , very subtle taste , spicy but not blow your head off ! They have a special on wed and sun nights for £8,95 which we will be back soon to try . Great place friendly staff and a good price. Totally recommend

We took the kids for a curry (despite the entrance to the place reminding me of dodgy student curry nights) and had a great meal. Upstairs venue was ok - bit cold and hardly the ritz but not too bad and staff were pleasant enough. Noticed pricing was very reasonable so ordered a few things - lamb saag, chicken jalfrazi, mixed tandoori, lots of rice and naan, oh and a mixed vegetable starter combi thing. What first struck us was the onion bhaji which was not the usual floury tasteless nonsense - but something that was clearly freshly made by someone who absolutely knew what they were doing. What followed was just as tasty - especially when taking into account the price which was £40 for the four of us which included two beers and a well earned tip! Great value.

Rendezvoused with a friend in Skipton and had been recommended the Balti House. Tucked away on a back street it was brightly lit up and easy to find. The restaurant is upstairs so access isn’t easy for some people.

Four of us turned up quite late on Friday night and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The 4 different curries we ordered were very tasty and plentiful - took some home for lunch the next day! The naan bread (garlic and peshwari) were delicious and the lime pickle was the best we have ever tasted. Writing this review is making me want to go back to the Balti House right now :)

Both had the Daal Punjabi, mine with egg rice...best I've ever eaten! Perfect flavours, nicely spiced. The food really was excellent but on top of that the service was fantastic. Really friendly and chatty guy. Would highly recommend this place, we're from out of town but will definitely be coming back here when we're over this way again.

A good traditional family curry house and worth the trip off the beaten track and the climb up the stairs. Love the somewhat dated décor and hope it is never updated. Attentive and friendly service and excellent food. Ample portions and good value. Really nice experience and you should visit too!

It proved difficult to find a restaurant open in Skipton on a Sunday evening after 8.30, but you can always rely on 'Curry House'.

We have visited several times and are never disappointed. Early meal or late night snack the food is always excellent and service is good. Well worth a visit. Pricing very reasonable too

La comida era excelente. Seis de nosotros todos tenían empezar, currys, naans, arroz, patatas fritas, bebidas y la factura era sólo de 15 libras por persona. Excelente relación calidad-precio. El cordero entrantes eran excelentes, el curry, todos fueron muy sabroso, el pan Naan recién hecho y caliente, no tengo quejas. El servicio y el personal era muy amable y nos dieron bebidas gratis y todos de menta al final de la comida (Baileys para las mujeres y para los hombres), brandy sin duda volveremos cuando estamos de vuelta en Skipton.

My wife and I was in Skipton over the Easter weekend.I wanted a curry but not sure what. The staff are brilliant and extremely helpful. They matched my likes to a curry that was on the menu as spicy, but the kitchen cooled it down a little bit for me.I had one of the best curries in a long time. We had such a good experience we went back on Saturday night. The experience was just as good as the first night.Skipton Balti House is a real gem. I will be back.

Went for my birthday tea. Beautiful starters and main meals, tasted fab and would recommend anyone to try the Balti house.Friendly helpful staff even offered me a free drink because it was my birthday. We have been regulars here for the last few years. The food has been tasty and of a high standard mostly. We booked here for my partner's and my birthdays (they are a few days apart). We booked here a week in advance, for a table of four. When we arrived for our table, there were no free tables and the staff looked at each other confused and nervously. I was then assured my table would be free soon. I noticed that the people at our table were less than half way through their meal. It was 8.30pm, Saturday night and we would struggle to get into anywhere else. I was not happy, but said we would wait 10 minutes. 10 minutes later, the people at the table we had booked still hadn't finished and had their glasses full of drinks. I asked the staff why our booked table was given to someone else. I just got a response of we are busy and you can have drinks while you wait (not complimentary drinks) and choose your food. I pointed out that the people would be at least another 10 minutes to finish and then we would have to wait another 5 minutes at least, for the table to be cleared and reset. I got no apology and the staff didn't seem to care. If we had been offered some free drinks, it may have helped the situation, instead we were upset and it ruined our birthdays. We left upset. Rule number one: Look after your regulars. It was half term, hence why they were unusually packed out and we had booked. Normally they are not too busy. Hope they enjoyed making a good amount of money on a rare occasion such as this, as I will be taking our custom else where. In towns like Skipton, reputation is everything and word of mouth goes a long way. Ourselves and a number of our friends will not come back here on principle, due to this terrible customer service. You have just lost a lot of custom and money because of this. Whenever I have booked elsewhere, my table has been ready. You either put reserved on the table or tell the customers that the table is booked and has to be vacated by the booked time. You book a table for a reason, not to wait for around half an hour after you have booked it. Treat your loyal customers such as this and you will soon put yourself out of business.
