Skipper's Fish and Chips in Merton

As someone who frequently buys fish and chips I was shocked and appalled when I asked to use there toilet and was refused as I did not purchase anything baring in mind I’m 5 months pregnant. I will not be a customer anymore

Skippers by far the best fish shop around. Regularly bring international guests to here to have proper fish and chips.

I ordered 2 large Fish & Chips which cost £22, when I got home I was shocked at how small the cod was. It was like having 2 large fish fingers. Not good value for money at all. If you order LARGE COD that’s what you should get. I’ve never been so disappointed and had such a small cod in my life. On the positive it was freshly made.

While the food was ok, it was a bit pricey. It is a big place with very few customers (on a Friday night). Although friendly service the area to eat felt a bit cold and clinical. I had an OAP portion which I thought meant a discount but it turned out half size. My friend liked the batter and got lots of chips which he gave to me as I needed them. So don't buy the OAP unless you want a half size kids portion for 75% of the adult cost. Chips were really good so just buy that. However there are many items on the menu.

Nice that you can get to sit in and eat, although can be quite cramped. The best curry sauce for chips and my son loves their cod bites, perfect size for smaller people.

Good fish and chips to try. But I paid £10.60 for large fish and large chips. Quite expensive, considering the portion size.

Card merchants have asked that you do not set a minimum or maximum card limit. You are not charged in same way any longer. All shops stopped minimucard payments more than 2 years ago.

Paid £20 for two large fish and chips. The size was not large and it wasn't worth the money.

Good fish and chips, and the chips are always crispy and fresh. They also offer ketchup, mayo and tartar sauce for a small price if you like it as well. If you like pickled eggs or pickled onions you can order those on the side. Staff are always nice and friendly and quick to prepare your order.

visited on Tuesday 16th the batter on the cod pure soggy instead of being crispy no apology from the staff we've been going to this shop for 10 years very disappointed won't be going back for a while

We ate - in and enjoyed the haddock and chips plus fish cakes and chips with mushy peas. The food was well prepared and cooked through without floating in grease. My wife and l go there often. I recommend this fish and chip shop very highly.

This is the sort of classic Fish and Chip shop that you always dream about. Great fresh fish and batter that melts in the mouth. The portions were superb and as we are patrons of the local Community Centre we shall be running a Quiz and Fish and Chip night and Skippers will be supplying us 20 portions. WE LOVE IT!!!!

Not much seating, so better for take away. But they are the best for miles around. The curry chips are my favourite item and are in a gorgeous Chinese style curry sauce. Just yummy!

I use to use skippers all the time but now I refuse to use them the fish is grey and horrible n the staff are miserable

Opted to eat in on this ocassion: didn't not check the terms and conditions of the nearby carpark 🙄🙄🙄 Waited too long to be served at the table ... Incurred a CPN Time spent in carpark 2: 20 minutes The night out ended up costing in excess of £70 That is very expensive for a fish supper With two desserts And soft drinks 🤔😲😉

Skippers is a small, slightly tired looking fish and chip restaurant, selling the best fish and chips in Mitcham. The food is fresh and hot, with good staff. Would recommend.

i usually manage to get here on a Friday for Cod n ChipsBit more expensive than other chippies in the area but the food is always very good and i dont have left on my plate after meal, this includes the uneadible chips you get from a lot of chippies.Highly recomended.Tony

Talk in their own language all the time. Not very plesant, you get the sense that they are talking about you in some way its not a nice experience. none of them interact with the customers other than about money and order to be taken. They are NOTHING like the previous owners who were very pleasant and interacted with their customers. These lot hiked up the price and made the potions smaller. The only thing thats a plus is the taste if the food is the same very good.

Was hesitant as most fish and chips are not really good but was surprised. The seating area is small but the service and food is good. Freshly cooked and crispy. Not oily as many are these days, but good crisp batter and proper chips. Have all the usual other stuff, huge frankfurters, gherkins and pickles. Service good too even when busy.

Always amazing fish and chips at Skippers! I couldn’t be bothered to cook as it was so hot so I called Skippers with my order then I went and collected. Always lovely friendly staff.

Food here is always fresh and delicious..for fish and chips. The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. You can eat in or take away and there's a kids menu available. This place had been doing business for decades and even won an award in 1998 for its food.

The haddock, chunky chips and service are excellent. There's seating but takeaway is fine as the food comes in a container that be eaten as a takeout food. You must try this place at least once to savour the nicely fried chips and fish portion. The additional sauces like curry add an oriental/Asian slant to the traditional English fish and chip menu.
