This was our first visit since the Skerry Brae since it changed its name to the Golf View. Nothing much has changed. A good range of dining options in the menu plus specials. Prices were on par with other Lossiemouth restaurants. Finally the view from the dining area was breathtaking with views of the golf course and the Moray Firth. Service was quick and friendly and our meals were most enjoyable. All covid regulations were strictly observed. Recommended

Been coming to the 'Skerry' now the Golf View for years if not decades. The newly refurbished conservatory is good and the views are obviously great especially midweek when the Typhoons are flying in and out of Lossie. Service was attentive and friendly. But I'm sorry the prices are ridiculous! £12.50 for scampi and chips was about 6 scampi and literally a dozen overcooked chips. Sadly I'm not wasting time going back for a while until I hear things have got better.

Was the Skerrybrae, now the Golf view. My friend and I had dinner here before going elsewhere. I had the beer battered haddock. Delicious. This whale of a battered fish came out, light, fluffy, really yummy. My friend had the chicken goujons, not so great. A couple of them were a bit pink and the batter was soggy. The meals came with salad and chips, we both declined the salad as the meals were large portions. For me, I would say 10/10, my friend, more like a 7/10, especially as there was no offer of a discount, even comp the drinks. I would go back, just not have chicken.

On arrival was made welcome and seated, food was ok but service wasn’t the best. We ran out of drinks mid-meal and weren’t offered more. After plates being swept away in a hurry we weren’t offered any more drinks or puddings!! So we clearly got the message to leave without anything else.. leaving very thirsty and not very amused!!!

I will start this by saying we do enjoy good food but don’t consider ourselves food snobs. Well maybe a little bit. Having recently changed its name to the Golf View Hotel and having a bit of a refurb, we were looking forward to a nice meal at around 5 pm on a Sunday. It really wasn’t much good. I ordered the pie expecting an up market version of the traditional scotch mutton pie as pictured. When it came I was disappointed with the puff pastry topped stew. My partner ordered the seafood linguini which arrived over cooked and with the pasta broken in to 3 inch pieces. When I mentioned my disappointment in the pie to our waitress the reply was “Yes they need to change that. A lot of people say that” Not really an adequate response in my opinion. The view over the firth was far and away the star of the evening.

Restaurant was being refurbished so understandably chaotic. What I was surprised about was the high cost of very mediocre microwaveable meals! The cheese board was 3 tiny bits of cheese, with 3 biscuits! I won’t be returning, even for the view!

Enjoyed a lovely family meal here after a long walk on the beach! Lots of choice on the menu and specials available, there seemed to be a 3 course option as well for a better deal. We were originally going to be seated down at the bottom with no view but on asking as we noticed another party were leaving, a waitress kindly set us up a new table so we could have a seat with a view. Barman who I think might have been the landlord was also every so friendly and made us feel very welcome! Portions were very good and and vegetarian options available which was a must! The blue cheese on the veggie burger was delicious! Huge pieces of fish too! We also enjoyed use of the pool table! Would love to come again!

The hosts were very friendly and we were made most welocme. It was a lovely sunny afternoon and the views were amazing out over the Moray coastline and the golf course right in front of you. The hotel also serves local ales from the Lossiemouth brewery. Pefect spot for lunch or just a drink.

Great food, friendly service, and fabulous views. Typical pub food menu, but the food is excellent quality. My mum loved that she could order a "pensioner portion" so she wasn't put off by a big plate of food. Plenty of choice, I'd recommend the scampi- tasty and plentiful. Very busy restaurant- at 6pm we were lucky to get a table, so I'd advise booking if you can.

I haven't been to The Skerry Brae for a while and thought it would be good to try it when my parents were up visiting. It is a nice place to go, the weather was nice and you get lovely views over the Golf Course and out to sea. The menu is straight forward with the usual pub meals available, including the fish dishes you would expect. I am a Coeliac and they have a separate menu for GF that you can look at. You order and pay at the bar and our food arrived fairly promptly. The platefuls are large and filling and my parents and wife enjoyed the salmon. I had the steak and they were able to provide a GF sauce with it. We ordered puddings and for myself there was only the ice cream, which I ordered, a slight oversight was that it came with a wafer in it, this was probably through habit as I did say to the waiter taking my order that I was GF, I mention this for the hyper sensitive Coeliacs, as I am able to take the wafer out and eat the ice cream. Overall a nice meal

Visited on Friday 10th January as a new resident of Lossie. Staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Food arrived quickly and we were impressed by the quality. Starters of breaded brie and battered chicken were both crispy and tasty; perhaps one more brie bite would have been nice, but the quantity of chicken was generous. We had venison casserole and ham & leek pie for mains. Both were thoroughly enjoyed, the only gripe being that the casserole had 3 pieces that were a bit gristly, otherwise I'd give it 5/5 for a good combo of quality and price.

Went for a Sunday lunch and felt I had gone back in time . When entering about 1 pm was ignored by the Chef , waiter and barmaid who were chatting at the bar . Had to ask if we just take a seat or where to sit , obviously neither attended any hospitality courses as manners throughout were in short supply . Went and got a table which was of plenty choice as only one other lot of guests were there . Menus were a basic plastic wrapped A4 sheet of paper which looked very crammed . To be fair the choices looked good . Ordered a smoke haddock chowder and a stuffed mushrooms on a rocket salad . Now the mushrooms were nice but the rocket salad did not exist as there was no rocket ! . The soup lacked taste and only tasted of the cream , also my pet hate is lazy chefs that make there soups with baby boil potatoes . Both mains were well presented but again lacked taste . No one ever came at any point and asked if our meal was okay . The hotel works an order and pay at the bar with your table number . Felt it would have been nicer if they worked a waiter / waitress service and might even encourage some customers as they were in short supply . We stood up and left without a thanks or goodbye and do not think I will be returning in a hurry

Rosie & Jim (Ian) fantastic hosts, who install a friendly environment within the hotel, bar and their staff. Nothing was too much trouble, Rosie even at short notice, moved us to Room 5 fantastic views not too be missed! Our luggage was moved and as we were staying for 2 nights Sat/Sun, moved the table in the bar to accommodate me watching wimbledon, having my lunch at the table. Meals are great and good value! Breakfast was excellent, back on Slimming World Plan so smoked haddock and poached eggs for me, brilliant views from the dining room of the die hard golfers. I would most certainly recommend this hotel in Lossiemouth, easy walking distance to the beach, the village, everything you need, nothing too much trouble. Rosie even took photos of Thelma and myself for the Summer Ball. The staff are a credit to Rosie and Ian! Best of luck for the future, and I wll most certainly be back to the Skerry Braein the very near future. Kind Regards Kath and Thelma x

Went out for a meal for our friends birthday last Friday 15th February 2013 (evening) There were four of us, I can honestly say the food was awful! One of us had steak, it was cooked on one side and not the other and it tasted awful, One of us had a burger and wasn't cooked in the middle, sent it back to be recooked to be told that the chef said it was an angus burger and could be eaten like that...well would have been nice to be asked! One of the meals was just about ok to eat and the gammon gave the birthday boy the runs the rest of the night. Was the most disgusting meal we have all eaten! Will never go back. We think the reason it was rushed was that the chef was going out after cooking and couldn't wait to get the food out quick enough! The service was terrible too. Avoid if you don't want to be ill after eating!

I spent the August bank holiday weekend in Lossiemouth and had a lovely evening in the bar/restaurant at Skerry Brae which is located on the west beach side of Lossiemouth . The outside terrace and the bar area (which is light and airy with big windows) are both great spots to have a drink whilst watching the evening sunset across the bay. The view is just fabulous with the ocean, the lighthouse and of course the odd golfer or two to watch teeing off on the last few holes on the moray golf course. There is a good pub style menu and a daily specials board, all reasonably priced, and the food was of a good standard. The staff were really friendly and there was a nice ambience in the bar and restaurant which was nicely full with a mix of local couples and families, people on vacation and those staying in the hotel. I would definitely visit again when next in the area.

Awesome place with a gigantic choice of scotch whisky as well as a large collection of japanese whisky. This combined with a absolutley cozy atmosphere, delicious food and very very friendly staff makes it a fabulous place to spend the evening.
