Went for the Hollywood Supperclub with the wine flight. Food was excellent and the wines complemented each course. Fantastic value for money; we are going back again for a different menu next week. Massive shout out to our server, Millie; polite, attentive and knowledgable about both the food and the wines.

Very cool experience, would definitely recommend trying at least once. We went for the Tokyo experience for my birthday, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The courses come in a timely fashion, so you're never waiting for too long. We were skeptical on if we would be full after seeing how small the dishes were, but we were definitely full afterwards! All the food was amazing, and nothing like we've had before. The kimchi pancake and dessert were my absolute favourite! Service and atmosphere are great, our waitress explained every dish before serving. Price isn't too bad considering the quality of food.

The first time I went to Six by Nico (a few years ago) I was so impressed by the quality of the food and the overall experience. It really felt like a “wow” evening out, and something special. The past couple of times we’ve been though, it’s not been the same. Now it just feels like any old normal restaurant, with very standard (and sometimes actually sub standard) service, and very high prices for what you’re getting. The prices used to be justified because it just felt like such a special experience and amazing food. Now the whole thing just feels rushed. The atmosphere in the restaurant isn’t cosy and intimate anymore, it’s loud and bright and a bit hectic. The servers just seem like they can’t be bothered. We had one waiter who was mostly looking after us throughout the night who was good, but some of the others just seemed like they couldn’t be bothered. I asked for a wine menu and the waitress just ignored me and walked away. The explanations of the dishes felt like they were just rattling off a script and trying to get through it. We also got brought the same dish twice. The food quality has definitely gone downhill too. We had the Istanbul menu last night. Having been to Istanbul recently, none of it really seemed to hark back to there at all. The first course was a soup that was absolutely drowned in vinegar. The bread on the pide was rock hard, it was difficult to actually cut through it and chew it. I had the vegetarian option instead of the lamb and the “spring roll” on it was a random addition and so deep fried and greasy it made me feel a bit sick. Nothing blew me away really unfortunately. All in all it was just a bit of a disappointment considering how expensive it was, especially when we know how great it’s been in the past. It feels like they’re trying to push out so many different menus in a year instead of just focusing on maybe 1 or 2 a year and making them really good. Also definitely more training needed for staff to make this feel like a fine dining experience.

Came here for my birthday, food looked great but tasted awful. Returned the uncooked pita and grainy hummus, 2/6 courses were average. This is the review of 4 other people that came with me, 2 of whom are Arabs. It’s sad to see that this menu is an inspiration from Istanbul, a country which has an amazing cuisine. Please do not make your assumptions of Turkish food after eating here. Hopefully the other menus are better.

I went a couple of years ago and loved everything about it. The service is night-and-day different to what it used to be though. The food is great but the staff made you feel like the theme was "teenage kid that wants to play on their iPad but is being forced to tell you about your meal". Probably won't go back which is a shame because it could be great. The price isn't crazy for a tasting menu, which is good, but when you have paid £165 for a meal for two, you expect the service to at least be better than average. I'd say this was way below average.

Istanbul menu: We had the four course menu, the food was fine but I would say that I only really enjoyed one out of the four dishes. I didn't like the starter soup at all and I don't know how this is related to anything from Turkish cuisine. The dessert was also disappointing, very dry and not tasty. The pide was nice, but nothing special. I enjoyed the fish dish. Adana was okay but I don't understand the addition of padron pepper, felt a bit like fusion for the sake of it without any relevance to the dish. We ordered some add ons, hummus with pitta bread. Unfortunately I had nicer hummus from a supermarket and the portion was a laughable spoonful. The filo pastry add on with cheese was alright but lacking in flavour. I heard one of the waitresses describe it as similar to a spring roll which suggests a lack of understanding about the cuisine. The cocktails were nice. The service could be improved, it felt like our waitress didn't want to be there and brought the bill immediately after we finished our dessert. The table was booked for another hour, we would have left soon anyway but it felt abrupt. Overall it was a bit meh and I am not rushing to return.

We've been waiting to try Six by Nico for a while but it was a real let down on this occasion. I don't think this is necessarily a bad place, I just think we had a bad experience. A couple of points to this really (sorry in advance!): The layout - The tables are so tightly packed in there. I know they have to maximise their covers, but I felt like the staff found it difficult to get around, because the tables were that close together. Guests were also all bunched together at the entrance not knowing what was going on, which was a bad first impression. Our table was situated near the bar at the back, which meant near the potwasher, who was throwing dishes around so loudly, you couldn't hear yourself think. A chef also dropped a tub of hummus on the floor and then proceeded to kick a door in anger about it... none of this should spill over onto the restaurant floor for guests to experience. Staff - The staff are nice, but I felt undertrained for the environment they were in. We had around 5 different servers through the night, which is a little impersonal. I wasn't drinking, but my partner was and had the wine pairing. After our initial drinks, my partners wine pairing began and I ordered a second 0% beer. Despite my partner receiving 5 glasses of wine, my drink never arrived, and I was never asked at any point if I needed one. In the meantime however, despite not actually complaining about the previously mentioned potwasher noise, the staff must have realised it wasn't nice, because they brought us a complimentary glass of Prosecco. This was a nice gesture, so i'm not knocking that, but, a little more thought could have been spared for the fact I wasn't drinking before putting a glass of prosecco in front of me. I do usually drink (just having a night off), so not a problem for me particularly, but if I wasn't drinking for a particular reason, this could have been received quite negatively. If we had maintained the same waiting staff, perhaps this lapse in communication might not have happened. I just felt like it was a little chaotic, and the standard was more that of a pub than a restaurant. The desert was also described as a date cake with a crisp on top when brought out, which I found funny, and plates were removed with us being asked "Was it a ten ten, yeah?" - I think it is important for staff to have personality but maybe it was just a bit TOO informal? maybe that's just me. Food - The food was okay. For the price, I guess there's some good value, but I definitely wouldn't call it high end in any way. It's plated as if it is, but I don't think there was much substance to it. I will caveat this part by saying we got the Istanbul menu, which isn't our favourite cuisine, and probably the overall experience mentioned above, detracted from the food itself too.. .but, that is the charm of the concept, that you don't know what you're going to get if you book way in advance like we did. I'll add to that, other tables did seem to like the food, so maybe that side of it was just us. To me though, it felt like someone had done hello fresh well and then just added a foam, or a twill and popped it on a nice plate. I think improvements could be made in terms of layout (honestly, just get ride of that back row of tables), and maybe training, but I think this was just a bad experience for us. hopefully we'll try again and get a better night, maybe the Deansgate location next time. Sorry guys!

Honestly, besides the impeccable service, there is nothing nice I could say that makes my time worth even writing this review. The food was sub-par, abhorrent, and lacked any interest and if I were a food critic (good thing I am just a woman with a free 2 minutes) then this place would cease to exist. Nico, please never go to Japan again and return with any of your renditions of food that did not need improving nor did it need your "remarkable" spin on it. I mean Ramen with no actual Ramen... as if my night couldn't get worse. Cheers.

Incredible night out with my closest friends the food was delicious and each course was delectable. What made the night was our server Ella, she took a great night in to an experience, knowledgable about the food and the wine but her charisma was second to none and she is a irreplaceable member of the Nico team, she took the experience from a 7 to an 11/10 second to none and this from someone who has been in hospitality management for 14 years.

Really pretty underwhelming experience, fraught with service issues and hit and miss food. The teppanyaki was overly greasy and unseasoned, the pork belly was unrendered and had nothing resembling a crackling and the okonomiyaki was more like a dense dumpling with some vaguely oriental flavour - just go with the classic batter and cabbage next time. First course was great (chicken thigh) and the dessert was serviceable enough; started and ended strong, pretty poor in the middle. Something of a shit sandwich. Service was pretty awful. Some servers were lovely, swift and everyone was generally attentive, but there was more than a few huffs, blunders and hastily plopped down plates that belayed a certain apathy. Problems with payment (overcharged; even after an attempt to correct) and incorrect orders. Certainly doesn't justify the price at this location with this menu; would forgive other failings but the food just wasn't even there. Would've been happier with a Wagas tbh, which is a sharp indictment on an establishment aiming for this market segment. Cherry on top is the compulsory 12.5% service charge, which they know everyone is too British to eschew. Biggest culinary disappointment of the last 5 years for me.

The Tokyo menu couldn’t have been more disappointing. Flavours were confused, dishes often left unseasoned, and don’t get me started on that mushroom dish that tastes like a cat ate soil and pooped it on the plate. There were long waits in between dishes, the longest wait being 35minutes to only be served a deconstructed ramen with about 10noodles in a tasteless broth full of oil. Any Japanese citizen would have wept at the inequality of this menu, but no dish offended me more than that ramen dish, it was as if Nico had never been to Japan at all. The only redeeming dish was probably the desert, but we were left hungry and dissatisfied.

Had the Tokyo menu and was excellent. The concept here is fantastic, I would call it fine dining for beginners. If you are cooking the same dishes for 6 weeks, you can expect very well done dishes, which is clearly the case. It is very well priced and well executed, with alot of thought put it into the flavours and the wine pairing is spot on. Always feels a bit in and out, but that is the concept. Very engaging staff who can be a little stretched. Great food at a very reasonable price.

Finally visited after years of wanting to go, and omg!! Why did I wait this long!!! Food, service, staff atmosphere were all amazing!!! Such a fabulous day, I’d been waiting for a menu not too heavy on the fish, yet the fish buttie course was one of my fav’s, the desert was just amazing!! Heaven on a plate! I mean, all the courses were delishious! My first time trying raw steak! ( we went for guilty pleasures ) the staff were so friendly, and engaging, will definitely be back soon, and will be regular visitors, we also had the pairing wine, and that was just awesome too! Six by Nico has been recommended to me a number of times by friends, family and colleagues and I finally went, with my partner at the start of the Manchester Pride weekend. It was obvious from walking through the front door what all the fuss was about. The decor is tasteful, the staff attentive and very knowledgeable. The chef and their staff create little works of art that you can eat. I recommend you also choose the “accompanying wine” option as it complements each dish perfectly. The waiting staff are extremely knowledgeable and explain each dish/wine perfectly. The themes change regularly, we went for the “guilty pleasures” menu but check out their website for upcoming menus and see what suits as I reckon there’s something for everyone. We are planning a December visit next as we are hoping there’s a seasonal themed menu. Well done to all concerned, you beautiful people.

Review update. We used to go here frequently. However I've noticed I've not been for a while and on reflection this follows a visit from a year ago whereby it took an hour for the first course to be provided then a further hour before the 2nd. At the end I asked to remove the service charge and the waitress asked why, once explained she said there had been an issue in the kitchen. Well what was stopping them from updating us earlier? I know realise that this is why my friends and I are now longer visiting. Old review: Food is always well thought out and works well together...for the price and the new menu every 6 weeks it's really worth a visit!

Absolutely brilliant as usual! Our daughter got engaged on the Amalfi Coast so we HAD to come and weren’t disappointed! Brilliant service( as always!) and great food. I’m coeliac and it’s never a problem . Great gluten free pasta and everything else. Wine pairing was terrific and our waitress was really well trained and knew her stuff. Totally recommended and excellent value!

What an incredible restaurant and experience! We came for my Dad's birthday and had the 4-course menu with wine pairings. The staff were super friendly and helpful, always explaining each dish thoroughly and explained each wine (origin, tasting notes, etc) too. The food was to die for, especially the spaghetti! The concept, too, in which every 6 weeks the menu changes to accommodate a new food theme and/or region is fantastic. Will definitely come back again and again 😁

Took my mates here, whom had not previously indulged in tasting menus. Dress code was relaxed, atmosphere not 'pretentious' The theme was 'Greek Isles'. Indulged in the matching wines. Every course was perfect in its presentation and taste. My mates absolutely loved the experience and wanted to do another one in the future. Highly recommended.

My partner and I have been for the Amalfi menu. The food was ok , I wouldn’t rush to go again or rebook for another menu based on what we have eaten. The bill came and there was a service charge of 12.5% - we always leave tips but when this automatically added it doesn’t sit right. When asked to take this off so we could leave our own tip and amount we wanted to we were told this was “added to every bill and compulsory”. I just simply wouldn’t go again

Amalfi Experience Absolutely wonderful menu, brilliantly prepared. We have visited Amalfi in the past and found this menu to be truly representative of the cuisine of the region. The lemon dessert is something we tried many times and was deliciously deconstructed for our final course. The wines married up perfectly, again, culminating in the dessert with a fizzy sweet raspberry wine to compliment the lemon. A special shout out to the extras, while not typically Campanian, were Italian through and through! The smoked tomato Arancini was particularly good! Service was friendly and informative, and while the glutton in me wished there was about 30% more food per course, I understand that this menu still represents excellent value, my dining partner was stuffed!

Food on the Amalfi Coast experience was wonderful. We did it with matching wines - some of which were good, some not so but we put this down to our palate. Only slight negative (stopping our rating being 5 star) was the rate of service. Our first two courses came very very quickly, hardly giving us time to digest the food but then we were missed for our third course, leaving us waiting whilst everyone around us was served (at least it gave us time to let courses 1 and 2 go down!). Thankfully our server, Philippe, was wonderful and more than made up for the wait. His explanation of the wines at 'warp speed' was an experience in itself, and his customer focus was first-class

Went on Monday for the Trust menu. Absolutely diabolical. Seems it’s a menu put together using leftovers that’s being sold as a ‘guess the dish’ concept. Half the courses were cheap vegetarian dishes. The meat on one ‘non vegetarian’ dish was the black pudding crumbs on the top 😅 Only decent-ish course was the dessert. Have dined here many a times so aware it’s a tasting menu but I’d say the portion sizes on this occasion was smaller than a tasting menu size. Ended up getting a McDs on the way home as left the restaurant hungry and unimpressed. Will not book this concept again. Used to be very impressed with this restaurant. Much preferred it over the Deansgate restaurant but seems standards have slipped.

The service here is very, very poor. Paid for a wine pairing. The wine came 20-30 mins before each dish. By the time the dish came the wine was gone and we drank water with our food. Complained to the waiter, he said the kitchen was behind then served wine 30mins before the next dish. The waiter was very polite and I felt sorry for him but the service from the kitchen was unbelievably slow. It’s great they can fill the restaurant and the atmosphere was good too. However it is to the detriment of the experience as the kitchen is woefully poor in its delivery. I’d have given one star if the waiter wasn’t trying so hard to make up for the kitchen’s terrible service. We won’t be coming back.

Disappointing visit to a well loved venue, we went for the Mexico menu and servers were nice, better training is needed, and some of the dishes were not great. Particularly the calçot where all the components (sauces, pesto, crackling) were rich and greasy, and the desert dry, sadly no better than corner shop packaged cakes. We didn’t opt for the wine pairings and they weren’t knowledgeable about what on the wine menu, the non alcoholic fizz was described as dry but in fact quite sweet. Hoping this is an off day but it may be awhile before we return.

I had my first fine dining experience and it didn’t disappoint! We had six Mexican dishes, and the flavours were really unique and tasty. The staff did a great job explaining each dish, which made it even more enjoyable. I just wish some of the dishes were a bit bigger because they were so good. We also added the nachos to the meal and I can't believe how amazing they were so limey and delicious! Overall a great experience and I’d definitely go back

Prices going up, the rest going down... We've been coming to SxN for about a year and half now and hitting every new menu as they come out. We loved it that much from the start. However, a lot has changed since then. Originally £30 for the 6 courses, they've recently and suddenly, jumped up nearly 50% in cost. I'm fine with paying for what you get, but nothing has changed to warrant such an increase. In fact, I would say the opposite has occured. Starting off on the wrong foot, SxN felt it was good to change what days they would offer the Mexico menu. Supposedly there was an email that went to patrons to let them know, but the only communication I received was the email and text confirmation of the reservation. Nothing saying the menu would be different on that day. When we book we book specifically for the menus. I mean, that is the concept of the restaurant after all. Changing when you offer a menu is not a email kinda of change. You're doing well enough you can take the time to call people. But, maybe that's just not your focus given the changes you've made recently that show you're now more focused on revenue rather than the customer and providing the experience they've come to know and love. We, of course, don't find this out until we're seated for our anniversary meal that we had been looking so forward to given it was Mexico and you simply cannot find good TRUE Mexican food in the UK. We got up and moved our reservation to two days later when the Mexico menu would be on. Luckily we simply popped into Double Zero around the corner and had the most amazing pizza in it's place that day. Back onto the food, this could just be the 'Mexico' menu, but the portioning appears to have decreased (I get that you're going to have smaller portions for a tasting menu (see above, coming every 6 weeks). Not to mention the flavours of this menu missed the mark. I've gotten used to the UK not having good Mexican food, but was nievely optimistic that SxN could get it right. I was wrong. The 1st and last courses were the only stand outs. The rest were either under seasoned, overly salty or acidic, or simply tasted like something I could make at home. This place is meant to be whatever their theme is, but elevated. That didn't happen this time and, next to the Tokyo menu, this completely missed the mark. We've come enough times to know not Every item is going to be a winner, but this was a menu I could've missed and not, well, missed it. The service... That's always been top notch. I love how friendly and knowledgable the staff have always been. We started going to SxN when it was at Spring Gardens. The space was always an awkward one in it's compact layout, loud environment and confused decor. But, the food and service is what made it great. Since opening Deangate we've been going there and it's been a big change for the best. The atmosphere there is Much better. We were back in Spring Gardens for the Mexico menu (it was what fit for the schedule at the time) and I have to say I felt like it's the training grounds for new staff. Both front of the house and back. I'm sorry, but it's not our first visit, so it's your own standards we're saying this against. You showed us what it should be and now you're showing us what it is and it's not a good look. I get that you're constantly expanding and need to pay for that, but don't let your ego and ambition get in the way and force yourself into a market that caters to the few. You had a good thing going. It would be a shame to see you go.

We were really looking forward to trying the food but whilst the service was great the food was a bit disappointing. We had the Mexico tasting menu and the majority of the food wasn't hot, the fritta tasted like it was cooked hours before and we waited 40 minutes for the dessert, after already having been given the dessert wine (as we had done the wine pairing)

3.9 from me. Food was generally good (aside from the dry pecan cake and odd corn tamales). Restaurant is very chaotic - tables are packed together, and you often had a waiter's bum in your face as they were serving the next table. Service was efficient, but we had 4 different waiters/waitresses, meaning it lacked a personal touch. So fairly happy, but it's no Karak.

My fav was the sea bass, white bean and chorizo spiced hot broth and the dessert of course 😁 Lots of Mexican flavours for each course and all very ‘tastefully’ prepared and presented by extremely well organised and well trained staff who explained every course in detail 👏👏Open kitchen so you can see everything being cooked and everywhere was immaculate. You have to book here or their other restaurant in town as it’s hard to get a table, already very popular. Went for the New York menu, staff were exceptional as always. The food just wasn’t anywhere near as good as other menus though. Everything was so salty, and there were a few dishes that just weren’t very good, especially the pastrami dish and the dessert, we mostly left the dessert, felt like it was pure gelatine. It’s a shame as it’s usually so good but this menu just wasn’t good.

I had 5 courses tasting menu Tokyo for dinner today. All the courses were very creative and unique. It’s really good testing experience. However, the portion of the courses was very limited. Food was a bit too salty to me. The waiter was very polite, friendly and professional. The environment of the restaurant was very comfortable and beautiful.

Had previously reviewed as 'top chippy' well visited today for chips & they are dreadful- overcooked (reheated) greasy swimming in vinegar how this can be passed over the counter and money taken is ridiculous I put them back in vinegar soggy box to return but couldn't be bothered - need to diet so the bin says thanks

Absoutely fantastic family Sunday roast made by Nora's Kitchen at the Chorlton Tap. Everyone had something different from the menu and all agreed it was the best roast they'd ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicious, the Yorkshire puddings were out of this world!! Excellent service and amazing value too. Save yourself the hassle and cost of doing your own and come to the Chorlton Tap to enjoy a gorgeous Sunday roast cooked to order.

We were on a day out and saw this place which looked appealing. Choice looked good. Pre Ordered and paid at the counter, the lad serving was friendly. When the drinks came the waitress just plonked them down, without telling us which coffee was which so we guessed, she followed with the food again no conversation or smile… it doesn’t take much.
