First visit to the Six Bells dined in the resturant, nice enough suroundings clean and well presented. Orders taken by freindly staff efficiently and food served quickly. The main courses where enjoyable feel for the portion size it is overpriced. The desserts were piping hot the icecream tasted great shame the brownie was hard like a biscuit.

Me and a friend stopped by on our way to watch Charlton v Cambridge yesterday.. we did the same last season.. new ownership, a warmer welcome and even better food... 2 fish & chips that were divine! Shane, the chef, did a great job!.. we’d be regulars if we lived locally! A top lunch, for sure..

Had a marvellous lunch with the family on Mothers Day. Food & service was top notch! New landlord is a great character & made everyone feel welcome. There was a table who were causing the rest of us embarrassment but he dealt with this with humour & respect. Felt like everyone was silently applauding him do this (after all we’re British & don’t shout out loud) We will all be back

I booked the six bells for a surprise lunch for my partners 60th and it was perfect from beginning to end, shola could not have been anymore helpful even though we had a little confusion with booking but it was not a problem and could have been our mistake. The food was lovely with no complaints from anyone and they even went out of there way to cook something that was not even on the menu. Great value for money with plenty of smiles and courtesy. Will definitely be returning. Thankyou

Second time I visited in a week first time sat in bar , manager VERY RUDE , felt like an inconvenience to be served , bitten around my ankle while in there , second visit ( not by choice was already arranged ) sat in garden to avoid being bitten , waitress was amazing and friendly plus helpful ( couldn't fault her ) . Chef brought our food out and again he was very rude to our whole group , food was very over priced for what we received. I ordered cabbage slaw which I thought would be a nice Coleslaw bit no just a pile of cabbage , very disappointing

I’d heard rumours the landlord was not particularly a nice polite individual. I like to judge for myself. I hadn’t even finished my first ever pint here and I can confirm the rumours were accurate. I’ve never met someone so rude in all my 44 years. It’s been very hard not to use foul language on the review. Will never go here again out of principle

Arrived after the rest of the family my son told the staff there was a table booked in his mums name only to be told there was no booking and the restaurant was full and to sit in the bar at a table which would not fit all of us. I arrived and showed the manager my booking who was a bit off with me and said in a gruff manner to follow him he waxed and waned from rude to trying some humour the rest of my party said he was rude but I have to say on the good thing food was good and came quick after our order was taken and was tasty and enjoyed by all our experience was spoiled by the manager/owner.

We had the Valentine Day menu of 3 courses. It was our first visit to the 6 Bells even though we have lived here for quite a while. I had noticed when passing it had become busy inside so decided to try it. The restaurant area is really nice and provides a relaxing atmosphere. The bar and waiting staff were excellent, as was the owner who was was friendly and welcoming. The menu provided a good choice that would probably meet most peoples needs. All three courses were well presented and were very tasty. The prawn cocktail was served with toasted garlic flavoured sourdough which made a refreshing change. The homemade steak and ale pie was very good, succulent meat and easy gravy. The dessert, which was a crumble with apples and raspberry was superb. Drinks prices were reasonable priced and there was good selection . Had a very enjoyable evening and will be eating there again very soon.

The new-new owners maybe have another new food supplier. I'm happy to pay a bit more money to help support the local pub, but the one beef burger they had on the menu was unfortunately really poor - particularly for the price. The chips and bacon were good though. I look forward to coming in for drinks, but I don't think I'll eat again.

Visited 18th December 2024....greeted by a not very friendly scruffy dressed man at the bar..new owner possibly? Had pre booked and was the only 2 in the restaurant..however was taken to a dingy table tucked away in a corner facing a wall! one meal of fish and chips was decent...the other meal half a chicken was overcooked and extreme dry which was £18.....only saving grace was the young man who served us and was acting as temporary cook. He was cheerful and nothing too much trouble for him...have warned all our friends NOT to go there which is a shame as been before and had great time. Left and went elsewhere for dessert. 😁

We visited the six bells in passing on a long journey. The exterior of the pub looks welcoming and well kept, there was ample parking to the rear of the building and we entered via the back door. The washroom facilities were clean and fresh, always a good start to an impromptu visit. The rest of the pub did not disappoint, clean and fresh smelling throughout. A very friendly and interesting pub, not forgetting the garden area which very much has an Alice in wonderland feel with its design. Behind the bar was a young gentleman who was extremely helpful when my partner asked regarding the ales. Dan (if I recall correctly) was happy to allow him to try the various products available. I myself went for a glass of wine, equally refreshing and served in a clean, polished glass. My children had a Coke Zero and fresh orange juice. Our dog was even offered a bowl of water :) All in all a very cosy stop and we would definitely visit again when passing that way. The barman, who we believe was there for a short while to rebuild the site, explained how the pub has new management taking over. We wish them all the best for their future at the six bells. It clearly has a great potential and future. Thank You for having us 🙂

We went to the pub today , anticipating nice food and nice drink. The drinks were good and service -really lovely staff! However when the food arrived we couldn’t believe the portion size! For £15 we had a plate which looked rather like a starter portion! The chips were more on the low quality and the frittata was nothing special at all! If I would have been starving I would have left still hungry. My mum’s skin on fries were just normal chips and she never received a replacement! Basically all portions were tiny and it caused misery and a bad atmosphere amongst us , as we complained to management, which is never a nice thing to do. It left us feeling bad, as again, staff were really sweet. The reason for the size of portion we got was, that apparently the brewery tells them how much gram !! they supposed to put on each plate!! I felt sorry for them ! We won’t go back there for food!- we rather get food in one of the other pubs or take a take away to the six bells and just have a beer, as the drinks are fine.

Lovely pub. All important free car park! (When you’re passing through an unfamiliar area) and dog friendly. I phoned ahead to make sure the pub was dog friendly and open, as I had to kill some time while I was in the area. I arrived with my puppy and set up camp for a few hours. Friendly and helpful staff. I had the vegetarian battered halloumi and chips with mushy peas. And it was better than what I was expecting. I’ve never had halloumi served in a nicer way. The batter was delicious. I wish I could have that meal served to me in pubs where I live. The portion size was very generous, more than what I thought would arrived. I would definitely recommend this dish.

One of the best places I have ate at in a long time, Came here as our hotel was not doing food and this blew me away. Started with a tomato and basil soup and was very nice good portion with the lovely toasted bread. For main I had the 8oz rump steak and honestly was better than 99% of actual steakhouse steaks, perfectly cooked, very well seasoned, honestly couldn't get much better. The chef was a one man army on the night and honestly deserves all the praise, he did an amazing job and the food was an easy 10/10. Would 100% come back if working away here again best meal out in a long time.

Starting with the positives this pub had a great selection of beers and ales and the staff were very friendly and attentive but unfortunately the food was a bit off a let down. My partner had the Korean chicken burger which was just a bit off fried chicken in a brioche bun with what seemed to be some bean sprouts and green cabbage no sauce or anything that made it Korean. I had the chicken and leak pie which was actually very nice but again the chips it came with were very bland no seasoning and it was served with what tasted like packet mix gravy. We also both shared some onion rings which where thin burnt bits off onion in batter that tasted like it had being fried in old oil.

Very poor standard Sunday roast. For the price you it is absolutely horrific, you'll be served boiled potatoes for roast potatoes, instant gravy and stuffing, a packaged Yorkshire and lumps of your selected meat, in my case it was two lumps of dry chicken; it also takes much longer than you'd expect at around 30-45 minutes for this 'food' to appear. Certainly wouldn't return. Staff friendly and accommodating otherwise it would be a one star. The whole party agreed it isn't somewhere we'd return.

Not sure how this place has 4.5 / 5.0 as it was quite honestly very poor. Overall, the pub is okay if not a bit slap dash, but it’s a nice enough old building. That being said, the ‘Coke’ did not taste like Coke, and the food was not quite mediocre. The Girlfriend had a Pie and Mash, which was okay if not just a little bland. However, I had a “12 Oz Plough Burger” which is just two of their 6 Oz burgers put together… The Bun was dry and crumbly, the salad limp and half hearted, the cheese (£1.00 extra) was oily cheddar and the burgers themselves very, very bland and questionably cooked (not sure if boiled, or Fried, perhaps a Microwave, but certainly no grill marks, evidence of charring, or flavour of any kind… Almost like a cheap burger, from a can some how) Overall, very mid - could not personally recommend.
