Sitwell Fish Bar in Derby

Chippy tea with friends, you just had to see the queue waiting to be served to see how popular this place is, food is cooked whilst you wait and the staff were doing a brilliant job in getting the orders out to customers.

As I was passing I fancied a fish&chip tea and you cannot go much wrong if you pop in here. Staff are always welcoming, friendly and willing to have a chat with you, fish&chips are tasty, a great portion size and excellent value.

How the hell this Chip shop never gets a mention when the Derby Evening Telegraph run Chippy of the year I'll never know! Fantastic fresh cooked food, friendly staff and very rich but ugly owner ( Fab ) lol. Looking forward to our next Chippy tea

Been a regular once or twice or week for years when I am away the first thing the family want on returning is their favourite fish and chips.This is without doubts the best chippy in Derby if not Derbyshire great portions at a reasonable price cooked too perfection every time.The staff and I mean all of them are friendly,chatty and at busy times extremely hard working a visit is always a pleasurable one.I had the unfortunate experience of a car breakdown outside the shop whilst I waited for the AA they gave me a free cone of chips and a can of drink you cannot beat that sort of customer service.

Cheerful, friendly welcome as soon as you walk in the door and smiling chatty staff whilst waiting for your order to be prepared, do not pass this fish bar by.

Whenever in the area, I always pop in for either a light bite or full on feast.The food here is too good to pass it by!Probably the best quality food in the midlands by far.Their doner meat is of the highest quality, a very high percentage of lamb and not offal.Fish always fresh, chips to die for and the staff are a credit to the fish and chip shop industry.I was gutted when Carlo's catch closed on Nottingham road but a few years later, realised that they had sold up and set up their business at Sitwell.Its as though I had gone to heaven when I found out.10 out of 10 to this placeEnjoy!

I live in the next village to Spondon, I'm almost obsessional about fish and chip shops and carefully study every one I visit, looking for good and not so good points which most have in varying degrees. Today, I was waiting outside Sitwell fish bar for my wife to have her eyebrows done in the shop nearby, just killing time really, it was 11.30 the door opened and a young man put out the pukka pie sign and hung some ball shaped decorative hanging bushes around the entire shop front, the whole place looked pristine inside and out. As I had my dog with me rather than risk going inside, asked this young guy if I could buy a cone of chips. He brought them out to me. I can honestly say with just that cone of chips that this was best fish and chip shop I've visited in my life!The chips were of amazing quality and taste, big, no little scraggy bits, just perfection. So I just had to pop in and tell the owner how blown away I was with just a cone of chips. He is of Italian descent and was thrilled with the feedback, he said if your not passionate about producing the best, then you may as well not be in business!The display of produce was perfection in every was, it all looked perfect. On getting my wife from her appointment I enthused to the beautician about her fish and chip shop neighbour. She wholeheartedly agreed, saying the home made fish cakes were to die for and added "my kids cannot get enough of their gravy" so, their you go Just Those Chips told me how good this place is, I challenge John Torrode and Gregg Wallace to visit and find one single thing that wasn't absolutely perfection.. It's that good, oh and the guys are great!

Good food, never had a bad meal from here yet. Great staff always have a smile on their face, even when they are busy. Only problem is getting in/out when its busy, would be better if they opened up the other door making it a one way system..

What more can i say excellent fish and chips for me dad and sister this evening not been so much recently but will be in very soon well done very enjoyable 😊

I love this chippy staff are so friendly and talk to everyone in the que and the food always taste lovely hot and fresh. You have to wait for abit but that’s cause you know your getting fresh food!! I love this chippy and I highly recommend it to anyone!!!!

Customers queuing and staff that seem happy in their work is always a good sign of how a place is doing and super Sitwell did not disappoint. Fish freshly cooked with chips, peas and gravy at a decent price went down well on fish Friday.

Food is great and served with a smile! I love it here! The staff are amazing and this is down to the owner who oozes enthusiasm for his business.

This little gem of a chip shop is in the village centre of Spondon, Derby. It offers freshly cooked, generously portioned traditional fish n chip shop fare, alongside kebabs.

Friendly staff, superb food, people say you have to go to seaside resorts for the best fish and chips but you don't, they are right here in the centre of Spondon. Have been visiting this place for years and have never been dissatisfied

Have been using this place for 20years! Staff are well trained and friendly and work quickly while managing to give personal service. Managers/owners remember your face and always give a cheery greeting. Oh and the food is good too!

Beeing a local I try to use the shop at most times that my wife & I need fish & chips etc. The family tradition from the owners family has gone on for almost 40 years & has passed on to the present owner & his family. Good sized portions, always freshly cooked & a bit of friendly banter sometimes goes a long way to keeping us coming back again & again! Highly recommended to all!

really enjoyed the fish and chips, this was the first time i visited there but it wont be the last. staff were very friendly and the shop is spotlessly clean. it is very good value for money with a wide choice for the menue.

Best fish and chip shop in Spondon. Owned by an Italian family.. very friendly and willing to have a conversation. Food is cooked to perfection. Try the homemade fish cakes, they are lovely.

There is a reason this place is so popular! Great fresh fish cooked perfectly in crispy batter. Massive chip portions. Not oily and very tasty. They do serve all the other traditional things.
