Always lovely food from here and had a fresh cooked fish that was great! I wouldnt usually leave a review but feel like I have to say that the owners attitude and treatment towards his staff was not nice to see or hear, I was the only customer after an elderly couple left and could see the staff visibly getting worn out by the constant orders off their boss being asked to do 3 things at once. I wanted to ask the man who served me if he was okay! Not sure if we will return as customers as the attitude of the owner has let the shop down

Food was really good very impressed! I would say a little over priced but think that’s probably now the average price for mixed meat and chips.

1st and last time I go to this chippy, obviously went in for food like normal people do. Yet “mick” said to his other employe “make sure they pay for there food before you give it to them” judged me obviously the way I looked!!! I had £10.10 worth of food! Maybe pay your card machine bill mick!! Let’s be honest who does a dash and run with a chippy?! So if your young wear trainers ADVOID! If your a weathly person suited and booted perfect place for you! Obviously this mick is a saddo for thinking I’m run off with some chips!

Never ever will I go to this chippy again. If I'm willing to pay for something. Then thay should let me have it but the old horrible man in there told me I can't have what I want..so I will never go there again. I don't even want to give them one star

Friday night fish and chips. 19:00pm £8.40 for a small fish and chips which I found was a little pricey considering the quality. There was not much food out so we had to wait a while to be cooked. Which I found strange at 7pm on a Friday night ..? Quite busy and the manager or shift supervisior was very rude and shouting at staff in front of customers. Overall the food sufficed but was a little pricey and the staff could crack a smile.

Food is OK. Basic standard fish and chip shop with a few additions like Pizza. Prices are a little on the higher side when considering the quality and 40p for a tiny squirt of sauce seems excessive. The owner always seems to be in a bit of a mood complaining at staff and disinterested in engaging with customers. Whenever I've been in he has some regulars he treats nicely but everyone else gets short shrift. I get it's a busy and sometimes stressful environment but seriously, would a smile kill you? Only ever go when someone in the house desperately wants chips and have no transport otherwise best to head to Alvaston. Don't bother going in the last half hour.

For saying that another chippy is just round the corner , I would sooner walk to the 1 mile to Markeaton fish bar for the best fish and chips. Keep it up Mick.

Beautiful fish and chips! We rang our order through (9 of us), when we arrived to collect it was all ready to go and the order was spot on when we got back. The staff did a wonderful job, it was the best fish & chips I’ve had in a long time!

Bought fish,chips and sausages for a family meal. We took them into the park and had a late afternoon picnic. Couldn't fault the meal.

Good portion sizes, wide selection of food (even battered black pudding, which is beautiful) , not overly greasey, fairly priced and friendly staff. What more could you want

We’ve used this fish and chip shop for 20 years and it was consistently excellent until the introduction of Deliveroo, Just Eat etc. As a walk-in customer, you are now a second class citizen, as 90% of their attention goes to preparing home delivery orders and once your order is taken and paid for, you are simply left to wait. We stood for 20 minutes before getting our food, from the point of order and payment. Once we got our food home, the meal was totally inconsistent. The fish was great, piping hot and fresh, chips were soggy and lukewarm and the mushy peas were so cold, they needed microwaving. (We live less than 5 minutes from the shop) If our meal was that inconsistent, I dread to think what the home delivery orders were like, as we saw them sitting on the counter for ten or fifteen minutes, awaiting the constant stream of delivery drivers. That means that your home delivery will have been cooked at least 20 to 30 minutes or more, before it reaches your door! Too busy to care about the walk in customer any more, so will have to find an alternative, which is a great pity as this was the best chippy in the area.

Recently moved to the area, thought I would try for my Friday night chippy tea treat, wasn't disappointed! Went for regular size cod which would be a large in most 🤣 whopper of a fish, cooked to perfection and a great golden crisp batter perfect ratio batter to fish, to my surprise and enjoyment also had battered mushrooms on the menu, fantastic addition to any chippy menu again cooked fresh with that perfect crisp batter! 100% will be my new friday regular!

We had 2 Breast of chicken chips and curry sauce. It was the best chicken I’ve had for a long time The breast of the chicken was well cooked, lovely and moist and of a good size. The shop was extremely clean and laid out with a fantastic variety to choose from including kebabs and pizzas. The service was excellent and very polite and helpful.

Always a lovely experience here - super friendly owner and team, have a great chat with them when I’m in and leave with a smile! Portions are generous which is great - for two adults, we order 2 reg fish, 1 reg chips and small mushy peas which is a perfect amount for us! Thank you so much!

I've been visiting this chippy for a while now and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. The food is always hot and delicious with generous portions. The fish is always cooked well, burgers are grilled rather than fried and are really good. The pizzas are some of the nicest takeaway pizzas I've ever had. Only one size for pizza but it really doesnt matter. They are good value too! The staff are always friendly and efficient. I'll definitely keep going back.

Great place. Went there a few times. Always clean, staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is also great. So far I've had only fish and chips, pizza and a chicken burger there and all of them were really good, not to say that the prices are really nice. Also, the chips portions are quite big, which is great.

Really well run shop, been many times over last 2 years, food is always ace , place is really clean and tidy, staff are happy and helpful , parking , you can get get outside or down side road, well priced , me and girlfriend just had cod, cooked to perfection, this chip shop is a great find for anyone this side of city... Go on treat yourself....

A fantastic place with fresh, amazing food! It's also the cleanest chippy I've ever been to. The staff are very friendly and everything is well priced. There was a time when I had ordered a drink with my food but I had forgotten to pick it up off the counter before I left. I popped back into the shop the following week and was reminded by the lovely lady at the counter that I had previously left my drink there and that I could pick any drink from the fridge with my order. I was having a stressful day at the time and it cheered me up how they remembered, even though I had forgotten about it. This clearly goes to show that the staff are very attentive and actually care for their customers. 10/10 would recommend.

Love it.Discovered this lovely chippy about four years ago.I organised a Chip supper for Derby Model Boat Club.Mick was very helpful.I gave him an order for collection at a certain time and date and I arrived to find 20 orders freshly prepared and awaiting collection at the agreed time.Every supper was individuly boxed and labelled.Forks provided and everyone enjoyed top quality food.Our Supper has become an annual event and I now call in occasionally as I pass.Ask as you enter and they will cook a fish fresh just for you. Can't fault it.

worst kebab I ever had in my 40 years on this planet. why they think anyone would want that huge pile of dried up, red n black meat, I have no idea. how long it must have been sat in that pot to look and taste like that I dread to think. binned it after 3 mouthfuls. feel sick.

This fish and chip shop has to be the best in derby. Always prepares food freshly and well cooked. A good selection of dishes is available and all reasonably priced. Parking directly outside means there is ease of access.

5 star food hygiene rating doesn't really cut it. The place is absolutely spotless. They clean constantly even when it's busy. I had a pizza and it was honestly the best takeaway pizza I've ever eaten and for only 5 quid!!! I watched him make his own dough, and he isn't stingy with fillings and toppings. I brought my wife with me the next day to get her to try one. By far the best quality about this place though compared to pretty much everywhere else is the staff. They were really friendly and conversational. I left with a smile. Normally, takeaway staff make me feel like I should check over my shoulder when I leave. This place has the whole package.

Just discovered this chip shop. Second time been here and fish is superb. Great batter, freshly cooked. Chips freshly cooked too. Whole family loved the meal. Very personable owner. This is now our regular chip shop.

You can see by the way the chip shop is laid out that it's immaculate in the kitchen & food prep areas. I called in because I was peckish and I was in the area so I only fancied a pea mixed (a great choice) I sat inside to eat it and it tasted awesome, no radio active green mushy peas here, they tasted of quality along with the chips that were cooked to perfection. My favourite food is amazing throughout the area and we spoilt for choice with quality fish and chip shops but if you're traveling south down the A38 through Derby then just take a left at Markeaton roundabout/park its 3 minutes on the left and you can park pretty close (sometimes outside if you're lucky). Another Jewel in the crown for Derby takeaways. Ive back already.
