The staff are great in here,they are helpful,attentive and genuinely seem to be very nice. There are a few downsides to the pub however...there were customers swearing,loudly and openly throughout our visit ...it appeared to be the norm sadly,despite lots of older and very young customers being present. Also the rear yard had lots of rubbish spread about around the benches on the floor and just looked pretty unkempt. The toilets were clean but scruffy and the EDL stickers in the cubicles could really do with being removed.

My sister, her boyfriend, and I stopped by for some lunch after a lovely swim and had some very yummy custom burgers with fries, onion rings and a drink each for an affordable amount and treats ourselves to a few games of pool afterwards. Thank you for such a good time on a sunny August day :D

Super Sunday lunch deal for two Big plateful of Roast and Mash potatoes Yorkshire pud, three vegetables and two thick slices succulent beef with lashings of meaty gravy. . , Which is why we return when we are in the area especially on a Sunday. Paid for a larger meal but they gave someone else the larger meal and I ended up paaying full price fir the smaller meal not impressed at all

Recently hire out the event room for my sons party they all had a great time plenty of space and the staff were helpful great food as always never had a problem with anything and always been made to feel welcome by all staff members Highly recommend

Having specifically asked for the pudding to be served at the same time as the main course on a 'golden years' menu, received pudding 15 mins after. Given my dietary difficulties I had to give it to my friend (he said it was good).

Went here over the weekend, and the staff were super friendly, the place was pleasantly clean and the food seemed quite amazing for the price. However that night, in the group we were in, the people that had chicken were very ill. Given that we hadn't been out the whole week other than to this pub, and the fact that those who had the Sunday roast were fine, only the ones that had chicken were ill, it leads me to believe that we've had food poisoning from the meal. Obviously there is no way to prove this I don't believe, and this is only an assumption, but it seems too coincidental that only the people who had chicken are ill.

We decided to revisit after a reasonable absence. Food was great, staff were great but and this is a big but, I couldn't believe it when I saw a gentleman happily vaping away in the family food area. He was only 20 yards away from a smoking area!

Decent place, staff are nice, good price alcohol, not tried food yet but the toilets are awful.

Christmas day lunch was excellent - so much on the plate but we managed most of it. Staff were attentive and friendly, with smiling faces. Very clean and welcoming. Would have liked to see Christmas napkins instead of white but that was our only criticism.

7 of us went for Christmas dinner today, the table was set out beautifully, the 3 course meal was perfect., and piping hot, table cleared has soon has we had finished each course, didn't have to wait long between courses, Jamie is a charming young man who checked in on us between each course asking if everything was to our liking,the waitress forgotten her name,,, was lovely,, cleared the table between course, was friendly, and made us feel so welcome,, big pat on the back from us, I will be booking next year,, and hope the both Jamie and the waitress will be there to provide the excellent service we received,,, ps the food was lovely x

Called to place a click and collect food order. Was told they’ve never had someone do that before but they were happy to accommodate. Food was fantastic, and the Cookie Dough Ive Cream cake was amazing! Great price too. Food ready 15 minutes after ordering.

We went in with 2 hungry kids, honestly not expecting much, this being a Greene King and it being fairly empty on a Sunday afternoon. I was so pleased to be wrong! Ordered 4 beef roast dinners (2 for £11.99!) only to be told when I got back to my table (and by a very apologetic waitress) that all the beef had gone and turkey was the only option. We all swapped to the turkey, made jokes about it not being quite Christmas yet and awaited our grub... 4 huge Sunday dinners turned up shortly brought by Brett who was great with the kids and had a laugh with us. Really nice change from most 'service' staff these days who barely even look at you. These dinners were the real deal as well. Big wedges of turkey, massive Yorkshire puddings, more roast potatoes than I probably should have eaten, mash and veggies, all topped off with loads of proper gravy. All serviced up on warm plates. A couple of nice cold pints accompanied the dinner of course and I've got to say, by the end we were all ready for an afternoon nap. So nice to be surprised by the quality of the food, team and atmosphere of a chain pub where you honestly do expect less.

Can I firstly say wow, thank you so much! I had my hen do planned for elsewhere and that got cancelled so I ended up asking friends where to go I was advised to go to Sir John warren. Jade was amazing everything I asked she got back to me I went to see the room and left my maid of honour in charge. We went before my hen do started for food and although food took over an hour it was definitely worth it, I just want to say a massive massive thank you it was definitely a night to remember (sort of can’t remember that much but still) it was the best and the staff on the bar were great too. I’ll be back again I’m sure! Thank you Jade and team I loved it xxx

Great bar and Afternoon times has a family atmosphere Food is not Michelin star but decent enough for those seeking quantity vs Quality Food is still good though Great variety of beers and lathers + ciders to suit all Cheap also More staff needed to keep on top of cleaning and those treating the place as a tip which is not the staff fault Music as for the young members of society which is strange when they clearly target the older generation for meals and lunch times

We are desperate for this to be a good place to eat as it's location is so convenient for us. Unfortunately yet again it has turned out to be a waste of time trying this place out. Tried to order a couple of chicken burgers. Started with not having any cheese as an option for burger topping so alternative was chosen only then to be told there was only one chicken burger left so one of us switched to beef. While cleaning the filthy glasses that we were given with our wine with my t-shirt (didn't want to complain) the barman appeared at our table to inform us that there were no beef burgers either! Apologetically he offered us a refund which we accepted. This took longer than necessary and then we were informed it would take 3-5 working days for it to appear in our account!! This is actually the 3rd time in the last 8 months that sir John Warren failed at the basic task . My review on Google 8mnth ago was responded to with a request for further discussion to an email the management provided. There was never a response to this. I don't think I've just been unlucky, I firmly believe that this establishment is consistently poor.

We don't eat here often but when we do they either haven't got bacon sausage hash browns or milk for the Coffey machine if you ask for an extra sausage because they don't have hash browns they tell you they aren't allowed because sausage is more than hash browns really are we talking a few pence against courtesy inconvenience and an apology ? sometimes greasy food sometimes its fine last week egg was over cooked mushrooms burnt plate greasy and utensils were dirty and no bacon they really need to get there act together we won't eat here again.

The fish and chips, and the Chip Shop Platter were excellent. Hand battered fresh fish was delicious. Large portions! Friendly staff and good service.

We have visited numerous times and never a problem however today my colleague and I supported 2 adults with learning disabilities to have lunch here, on ordering the guy had problems using the till to order our food, then he continued to serve the next customer without doing our drinks , I had to ask for someone to do them, we then sat had our drinks waiting for the food to come, the people we were supporting had their meals but ours never came, on looking at the receipt they had not been ordered the staff then said there is a wait on food ,we could not wait another hour and so left without having a meal. I specifically pointed to the meals on the menu when ordering so assumed all had been ordered. Only two staff on at lunchtime to deal with serving the bar, ordering food, serving food and clearing tables

Me and my girlfriends family came in for a meal. It was all well cooked food and the steak was cooked to perfection. The bar staff was really friendly, sometimes finding the time to talk with us and actually feel like you are in a local pub without the corporate aspect that you may see in many Greenekings or wetherspoons. The atmosphere was quiet in the area we was sat but we saw many sitting near the pool tables and enjoying them. The pricing was some of the best we have seen for greeneking for food and drinks. The only letdowns was quality of toilets, quiet atmosphere at time of coming in and some of the walls either having some cracks, paint coming off or wallpaper. Overall it is a quick, cheap, affordable uptown pub. I would love to come here again next time I come to see family.

Rather Nice pub in the centre of Ilkeston with a reasonable selection of beer they serve food from an all day menu with standard fare we had fish an chips which was good but only standard size portions but still value for money for what you pay and we also had fudge cake which was nice no car park but there is a public car park next door and a cinema so perfect if you want to combien the two together

We had Sunday lunch here last week and it was quite enjoyable considering the price paid. Obviously not home cooked food, it was also was cold but it was edible. Might try it again and hopefully the food will be hot.

So today i went to the warren for food with my daughter. we arrived roughly 1230 ish to find there was one member of staff on the bar and serving food. There was already a fair few people in already and more was drafting in. Everyone knows thursday is market day and its always busy around dinner time. I only gave the 4 due to the food being ok but also for nicki with the blue and pink hair as she stayed Carm at all times was polite made sure she did her best eith a bar full and taking food aswell as collecting all plates and glasses she deserves a to be recognised

Changed management recently so thought we'd give it another try. First through the doors to order breakfast but when it arrived everything on the plate except the chips was cold . So no improvement . Update -Was asked to contact them in the comment to this post but they never responded to my the email

Our visit to the John Warren was mostly a pleasant experience .The negative points were the long wait for our family order and on two of the four meals,the chips served with the burger meal was scarce and the lasagna meal was dried up and the amount was as a child's portion.My coffee which was served at the table had bits floating on top.I was disappointed as this was a meal to celebrate the new year in with the family. The waitress was always polite and friendly, but the meals served to our family guests was disappointing.We expect to have at least a decent size meal and freshly made,the lasagna was dried up and not a decent size.We know there was only one lady on service and one chef,so a shame the manager was not available to help out when busy.

Not sure what happened here. Recently tried to give it another go. Lights around the dart board didn’t work and the board clearly not replaced since the refurb (which was nice). Pool cues in tatters. £1:50 for a game of pool, I mean, come on? 45p if you want a splash of lime or blackcurrant in your drink. Prices of pints are beyond off putting. Especially when the pub opposite is literally pounds cheaper for the sake drinks, why? On the rare occasion that it’s busy in the Warren now, you can guarantee there won’t be enough staff on. Other local pubs manage to do this just fine. Perhaps the management company don’t want to pay for sufficient staff and maintenance. Quality of the beer is poor and sometimes the spirits seem watered down. That’s purely my opinion though although everything else is factual. Most of us choose to walk on by these days. P.s none of this is directed at staff this seems to be a higher management issue.

Called in yesterday after a sneaky scala cinema visit, it’s been ages since I’ve been in the whole place has been renovated, it no longer smells questionable when you walk in, I honestly can’t recommend this place enough we were a huge group with lots of excitable 5 year olds, the gentleman on shift could not do enough for us, food was nice enough for pub grub service was excellent 👍🏼

Visited the Warren and had a great time. The staff where all amazing friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. Spoke to Jake the manager and he was really friendly and you felt like her cared about his customers. Can’t wait to come back

What a difference a few months make. Had to supplement most things on the menu as they had no food stock, food very over cooked but cold when arrived. Full of excuses and did not deliver on quality/ quantity, won't be going again. Plus the toilets are awful.

Came to the warren on Saturday for drinks and even though the fair was on and they was full from wall to wall everyone still had a smile on their face and fave great service

Came here last week it was really busy could see the staff snowed under but still trying to have a laugh and try and get the lines down. Emma was a star bantering but yet still professional. Next time I return hopefully it will be abit less busy so we can experience the sir John warren properly

Came this week with my children. We all ate for £15 😮 anyway got served by a happy bar lady called Emma. She’s one in a million that one. Made us feel welcome and had a giggle with us. We will be returning

Place is absolute buzzing. Jake and all bar staff are absolutely amazing too especially with the challenges they’ve faced this weekend they dealt with them as best as they could, doormen really friendly too👍 Would reccomend to anyone

We came to the sir john warren today for food even though there was limited stock the staff nicki and lindsey couldn't of been more accommodating and the food came out lovely so a big thanks to Claire. Will be coming back again soon.
