We ate here one lunchtime during the week. We sat in the quiet courtyard area out the back which looked like it had been newly paved. We all enjoyed our food and the food and drink prices were reasonable. I only gave 4 stars as I had a Ploughman’s which came with a soft roll which fell apart; it would be preferable to have a piece of crusty baton with this. The outside front seating area also looks nice with fake grass and large pots of flowers. Would return and recommend.

One of the group booked s table here, it is quite small so I guess it would be best to cook. The girl behind the bar was helpful and friendly, I had a white wine which was ok but not a great wine. They have s selection of gins if that appeals. We ordered our food, I had the fish pie it was quite tasty but the way the mashed potato was placed on it was rather amateur ish. It was served with a white bread roll which was not required but well received by one of the girls to cool down the rather hot Thai green curry. She said it was nice but heavy on the spice. The ham egg and chips was a good meal and the lasagne was ok but swamped in a layer of cheese all over it. It was a nice pleasant evening and food reasonably priced.

We had not visited the John Selden for some time but recently called into the establishment at lunchtime. There is a reasonably sized free car park and in old fashioned terminology there is a public bar and a saloon bar/restaurant. The decoration is tasteful and the seating arrangements are comfortable. There were three real ales available on the day of our visit and the price of a pint was the modern day average at £3.70. The beer was in good condition. There was a typical pub menu with a 'something for everyone' provided their tastes were not exotic. However what the pub lacked was any personal warmth or greeting. On arriving at the bar a gaunt looking humourless man simply said "yes". I then ordered two pints of beer and the only other utterance was "Seven pounds forty"!! There was no "good morning sir, how are you" or perhaps "good morning what can I get you". There was no "please" or "Thank you", just a grunt as if you were a nuisance even being there. This man and the staff need to go on some sort of customer focus course or attend a public relations seminar. It was all MOST unwelcoming. Would we re-visit. No not really, unless stuck in that area without transport.

It serves beer. That’s the end of the good points. If you want to spend time in the company of the friends your great grandparents this is the place for you. If, however, you are under 90 and visit a pub for a good night out and entertainment avoid at all cost. Casual drinkers be aware, this is a non swearing pub.

You go at the counter and wait to be served, 4 bartenders behind the counter and they do not really seem interested in you or in any customers service act. Moreover, if you are a new customer, they will serve the usual one, before you no matter what. The place itself is cool, but had a very poor customer service yesterday, hopefully it was just a coincidence, but it was bad enough for me to not come back.

Been using this lovely traditional "proper" pub for years for mainly drinks but just had the Sunday roast. Must say it was one of the best roast dinners we've ever had and terrific value. Great friendly staff. Recommended

Popped in for a Saturday lunch. Standard pub menu but good value and generous portions. A large fish and chips was only £7.95 and was excellent. Well kept ales included Harveys, London Pride, Abbott and Tetleys on draught

No será mi última visita!

Popped in for a quick, light lunch. Superb food at extremely reasonable prices. Jacket potato with cheese and bacon for myself and the roast dinner for "older folks" for my mother. The portions were very generous. The sticky toffee pudding and custard was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.

This pub truly feels like one of the unchanged originals. Two weeks ago I was sitting outside in the sun watching the Morris dancers performing there spring dance in the front carpark. Then it was inside for a nice hog roast. The food they serve is absolutely excellent, easily on par with a high class restaurant charging twice the price. Sitting at the bar seems mainly locals, however within minutes your enticed into interesting conversation as the atmosphere is so friendly. If you're trying to decide on somewhere nice to eat for lunch or evening meal, don't miss the opportunity to try this pubs food. You truly won't be disappointed

There were 4 in our party. We had dinner in the evening. The food was exellent from the starters, chicken dippers and white bait to the main course of pulled pork, steak and kidney pudding, ribs and liver and bacon. For dessert we had ice cream and apple pudding with custard. Nothing was left on our plates. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Then if course the singer Kim bonser topped a great evening off for all of us.

Ok pub with a very dated interior. Yeh food was ok if you are over 70. It's a nice pub for the local oldies, but definitely not what we expected for the high reviews at the time. Not very good food for modern standards.

Three adults went for Sunday Lunch, two had lamb and one had the beef. The meals were average. The meat appeared to be pre cooked and sliced with no hint of rare meat on either choice. The vegetables were carrots, broccoli and cauliflower plus potatoes (roast and boiled). The carrots were very tasty as was the gravy. The cauliflower had an unusual taste as if it was boiled in water flavoured with some unknown herb. I suggest that should serve just roast potatoes with crispy sides rather than two type of below par potatoes. A bit disappointing although fully edible. The decor of the carpet clashing with the upholstery on the chairs and seating could give you a headache. It really needs changing. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Have eaten at lunch time on many occasions when visiting relations in Worthing. The food is of an excellent quality - the detail is good even to the point of home made baked beans to die for! Salad garnish is tasty not just a bit of lettuce and cucumber. It is a locals' pub with a relaxed feel and friendly staff - spotless and interesting at the same time. The brass plaques make a good talking point. Small garden for eating in the summer.

Been here since the pubs refurbishment into an eatery; doesnt look much different inside but exterior building is modern green and still in keeping with the tudor style look. The menu is never bland and the selection of wines are good. Always fully staffed.

We visited the John Seldon Pub a couple of days ago for an evening drink. We were initially taken by the quaintness of the building, then by the pleasant helpful staff. The people that were eating all seemed to be enjoying their meals. It made a good impression on us and I'm sure that we will be returning soon, this time to eat. Recommended.
