Cannot praise this country house dining establishment enough - it is in a beautiful setting, with cosy lounges and dining areas. The Sunday lunch is excellent value, beautifully served by very pleasant staff. Between us we had the beef and the lamb, all cooked to perfection and to our individual tastes. From the starters we chose smoked salmon and prawn, soup and mushrooms, then an assortment of sweets. The service is attentive yet unobtrusive, the value excellent. It’s no wonder we often can’t get in as it gets booked up early. A lovely change from the serve yourself carveries or modern themed restaurants. This was not our first visit, and we will definitely return.

We had a lovely lunch here. The rib of beef is melt in the mouth. I did ask before ordering if the beef was pink , but it wasn’t but it was still delicious. I feel that only serving two veg with the meal is rather a let dow. I would expect in this type of establishment you would have three veg. These are small niggles and we all enjoyed our unch.

All three courses were cooked perfectly, nicely presented and good proportions. Just returned from a fabulous stay with our family to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday. We were given the Wedgwood dining room all to ourselves which we were able to decorate with balloons and bunting, the staff were great from arranging the event right through to us leaving. We arrived early afternoon and was really fortunate with the weather to be able to sit outside in the lovely gardens for pre dinner drinks. ( lots of little areas to sit inside if the weather is cold or wet). The meals were delicious, all of us choosing something different and the staff were very attentive with out being intrusive. We had a lovely quiet overnight stay in room 5 with fabulous views over the front lawn with alpacas in the fields, finished off with a hearty full English breakfast. If you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion whilst trying to stay safe in these difficult times, this is the place to choose. Will definitely return in the future. I booked for 10 of us to go out to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary after 4 months of lockdown. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and as it was a lovely sunny evening we had pre-dinner drinks outside, with the children enjoying playing on the swing and looking at the cute Alpacas. Our food order was taken and we were left to enjoy the lovely weather. When our starters were ready we were shown to our table, which we were thrilled to discover was a huge, spacious table in the centre of a room we had all to ourselves. The food was absolutely delicious and the service we received was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and getting £100 discount due to the governments Eat Out incentive made it unbelievably good value for money for a three course meal. My parents had the best time and I’m so pleased I chose Singleton Lodge, it really was the perfect evening. Highly recommended.

We have visited this location on many occasions, but the Sunday lunch this time was appalling. The starters - we had the smoked salmon and the mushrooms, and although the salmon portion was very small, not too bad. It was the main course that was the main problem. the roast potatoes and the boiled potatoes were inedible, as was the Yorkshire pudding. The rest of the veg was ok. One of us had the pasta on the Sunday menu, this arrived completely dried up and tasted strange. I had the sticky toffee with cream, and it arrived with the tiniest squirt of cream, could hardly see it. What has happened here, I wonder ?? Are there new owners / chefs ?? no idea, but will not be rushing back

I normally work Sunday's so this was supposed to be a treat for me as I never get out to lunch on Sunday. Shown to our table almost immediately, then waitress barked our surname at us and said " just checking I've got right people " we had soup for starter which was ok. We were told main would be served with carrots, peas and mushrooms, I asked if that was all the veg they had as I didn't like peas. She said she'd ask chef, and never got back to us at all. Main was served with 3 disgusting hard pre boiled then dipped in fat roasts. They were white and solid, I thought roasts were fluffy and golden( at home mine are) also a few over cooked new potatoes. Then the unbelievable frozen carrots and peas with mushroom chopped on top.it was ATROCIOUS, I have never been served veg like it. Not even our local pub uses FROZEN VEG. Alongside was served one undercooked Yorkshire pud and a spattering of gravy. We told them and they said sorry I'll tell chef.Upon leaving we waited while young barman who had seen us deemed to take our payment after about 5 minutes, we said the meal had been appalling he went into back and came back and said I'll knock the price of one of your drinks off bill. WE COMPLAINED ABOUT FOOD NOT DRINKS. Also just to finish review, the whole place is scruffy and needs a really good overhaul.. We will not be back

Attended a group Christmas dinner - only veggie option (and its not an option if there is only one!) was stuffed peppers....but veggies were expected to pay same price as those having turkey with all the trimmings. After I called their events team, was eventually offered filo pastry basket with veggie filling. Neither of those particularly exciting or christmassy but it was made very clear to me that nothing else was on offer. My other particular bugbear is staff who bring out food, stand at end of table and shriek "'Oos 'aving the turkey?". All meals had been ordered in advance - so why didnt they know who was having what? and then, once the food had been served, standing by the door and bellowing "Everything all right ladies?". Nothing subtle, discreet or classy about this service. Not to mention fact that one elderly lady who had pre-ordered chicken wasnt served her meal until the rest of us were half way through ours. All in all, venue is well decorated; food is average; service more suited to a motorway caff than a supposedly classy venue. Singleton Lodge Country House Hotel Restaurant isnt half as classy as it imagines itself to be!

Stayed one night in what is undoubtedly (in my view) the best value hotel in Poulton/Blackpool. Room was large with a very pleasant rural outlook (if you like Alpacas), although smokers congregated outside our first floor window and their filth forced us to shut them. Restaurant meal was very much "wedding fare", well presented but lacking flair. For example, the large portion of lamb was well done (N.B. not overdone, just not pink). Overall, the dinner was excellent value for money, although with just 2 couples at opposite ends of the dining room there was a lack of atmosphere. In summary, I would definitely book in again. A rural retreat with a reasonable restaurant, a pleasant bar, and friendly staff.

Visited for a family wedding and stayed overnight. Some things about this place are really very good, location and decor, and unfortunately some things really let it down. The staff were a mixture of overly attentive and irritatingly inattentive (having to shout someone out to serve at the bar when they were in the back area not doing anything) catching staff on mobile phones etc. Also little things like not being able to charge drinks to the room and not being as helpful as similarly priced hotels. The food was very disappointing, honestly seemed to have been cooked sometime previously and warmed through. Room was very well appointed however it was a pricy 'family' room which consisted of a nice main bed and a pull out sofa bed which appeared to not be fully pulled out. This was utterly inadequate, uncomfortable and as it would be unsafe for our children me and my wife had to endure and attempted nights sleep on it. For the amount charged this hotel offers poor value for money.

After visiting Singleton Lodge on numerous occasions for a celebratory meal with colleagues, I was looking forward to an end of term Afternoon Tea. Oh what a disappointment!! About thirty people attended to which we were given three small trays of tiny tiny ( smallest and most tasteless, I have ever had at any afternoon tea) sandwiches. One scone and one slice of cake each. When we asked for more sandwiches due to some people only able to have two or three tiny sadwiches. We had to wait at least fifteen minutes for an even smaller tray of what can be only described as "back of the fridge, thrown together" sandwiches. Suffice to say many people left early to go home and eat .I contacted Singleton Lodge after the event only to receive a snotty email saying how lucky we were to receive an extra tray free of charge (lucky us!!!!!)Would I recommend Singleton Lodge for Afternoon Tea. Friends who live in Poulton-Le-Fylde booked a table for ten for a Monday night. Ours were the first cars in the drive, and in fact there was only another similar sized group of women, and one solitary man in the two restaurants. We were quite impressed by the building and decor. We had drinks in a lounge area and were given menus before being seated. Suddenly all the lights in the room went out and we sat in the dark for a about 5 minutes. No one came to tell us what was happening, which considering, there were so few people, and both groups were seated in the lounge, would have been a simple task.A young lady came to take our order. She went along the group taking individual orders. Then at the end, one of us queried something, and she said she would repeat to us what she had written. She then reeled off so many of each item, ie 3 x medium steak, 2 x rare steak, etc, and whether with chips or new potatoes, etc, but somehow had managed to get at least 5 orders wrong. We were then taken to the table which was not laid correctly. There was only cutlery laid out, no wine glasses, no glasses for water, and paper napkins, which although of good quality, were not linen. The food could not be faulted, although very pricey. For example, £19 for a piece of steak and £2 extra if you wanted garnish of onion rings, tomatoes and mushrooms. Other vegetables came in separate dishes. The staff, although friendly enough, were not too attentive, nor paid enough attention to detail. Again, not difficult, considering the few people eating there that night. Verdict - first overall impression is good, as in a lovely setting, with grand decor, but let down by lack of attention to detail, and therefore pricey for what you actually get. Could do better.

We were taken here for Sunday lunch with family. We were most impressed with the venue. The grounds were beautiful. The building was very attractive and well decorated inside. We had a wonderful Sunday Lunch with a good choice of dishes. The food was excellent. Every course was good and the roast potatoes we the best we have had in a long while. The 3 course set menu was only £16. Excellent value. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had very good service even though they had a couple of large parties to serve. We had coffee in the very comfortable lounge area. We could have top ups of coffee, which is unusual. the coffee was very good too and came with mints.I believe that there are residential rooms. We will definitely be staying in future. All in all a great day out.

We had a lovely meal, two couples together. There was a large group in so we were put in another dining room with the other non-party guests, which meant we weren't dominated by someone else's party. After carefully choosing wines, they didn't have all that was advertised, then found a bottle once it was too late. The service at the start and at the end was a little slow, but we were left to eat at an unhurried pace and to enjoy the evening. We all choose the rack of lamb and it was cooked perfectly - I really recommend the lamb - and the creamy cabbage should have been called dreamy cabbage, judging by the effect on my wife. Pudding selection was quite limited, but all that we ate we thoroughly enjoyed. Four people with drinks cost around £130. Despite the picky points above, we really enjoyed ourselves - this was a return visit - and would cheerfully return with a degree of pleasant anticipation.

We had sunday lunch here and enjoyed it. The setting is lovely: parkland with alpaca. The restaurant was busy but service was efficient. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu and the food was well cooked and enjoyable. Prices of food and drinks were reasonable. Happy to dine there again.

Had Sunday lunch here a couple of Sundays ago, been many times before, it is a lovely meal very reasonably priced, always marred by the deep fried roast potatoes, you would think that a restaurant of this standard would make traditional ones. Come on chefs get to grips, it lets the whole meal down.

Lovely building, lovely grounds, OK if cold and characterless decor, the food was surprisingly blah. My starter was pleasant as was my husband's. The mains onwards went thingies-up. I asked for a rare sirloin, it came back medium +. When my husband had nearly finished his main course - a 'herb-crusted rack of lamb' (no bones of a rack in sight and with a thin, greyish, tasteless crust of some sort) I received a new steak, with freshly cooked new potatoes which took a suspiciously short time to boil if you ask me, but it was OK. The steak was actually medium-rare, but edible. However, it did not taste like a 30 day matured sirloin - too tough. The peppercorn sauce was nothing to write home about, but was nice. I specifically asked for my cauliflower not to be al dente - it was rock hard. Husband's dessert was very nice, according to him - I can't eat wheat or gluten so couldn't try it. The waiter - the lovely Peter - suggested I try the 'chef's' gluten-free sticky toffee pudding. I asked to have custard with it - he came back to say that the only custard they have was Devon, in a carton, since they don't make custard and are rarely asked for it - this was their contingency offering! I said I was amazed that a chef couldn't whip up a bit of custard with cream and some eggs, and Peter went to ask. The 'chef' would make me some, he told me.What came back was awful. The pudding, a dark brown blob in the middle of the plate had collapsed into its puddle of thinnish, syrupy slick. The custard - sans vanilla seeds - was thin and tasted cornfloury, and was as disgustingly sweet as the pudding. Seriously, I have never tasted anything so overwhelmingly sweet with a stinging undertone of vanilla essence - as this (and I like chocolate caramels). And, after I explained why I didn't like it, we were told that it was proper egg custard - the 'chef' had downloaded the recipe from the internet just now and made it there and then! We were not charged for my second whiskey and cider-shandy chaser as an apology for the main - decent of them, and not charged for my dessert - also decent of them. Had we not have had a £40 voucher for a meal there I would have been as mad as hell as well as very disappointed. Not for the discerning.

We visited singleton lodge as a treat from our children for our thirtieth wedding anniversary. After visiting several years earlier for our daughters wedding . The lodge has not lost its charm ,though we fealt that the service was not up to there usual standards. The food we thought was just about average . The staff were all very young and inexperienced , they missed out on the simplest things , like offering us drinks, how's your meal, no chat whatsoever. We noticed that on our arrival that the car park was full and they had probably been very busy so perhaps we didn't get the same service as the earlier sitting. None the less it's still a wonderful venue for a Sunday lunch or function. We will certainly give them another try.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We have been to Singleton Lodge for many family gatherings in the past and this time it was a Sunday lunch to celebrate a anniversary with close family members. The Lodge is situated just a couple of miles out side Blackpool set in several acres of beautifully maintained country parkland and really feels like something special. After reading some of the reviews from our members on Trip Advisor either we have always been extremely lucky or there are some incredibly picky people around. First the excellent menu is unusually extensive for starters, mains and desserts giving a wide choice for various pallets. We all had differing requirements, the service was exceptional, attentive, and nothing was too much trouble for the happy cheerful staff. All the food was served quickly and was first class. This is not the best meal we have ever had but it must be said that taking into account the price charged, the service, the surroundings and quality of the food the overall experience must be rated as 5 stars. We all, once again. thoroughly enjoyed a most enjoyable outing and I personally would certainly recommend Singleton Lodge to all our members.

I have to have Sunday lunch in this restaurant every four to six weeks (as a guest of relatives). Some older 'regulars' who moan about the food enjoy social contacts there (the lounge is used both before and after lunch and is the high point of the day for some and I would recommend it as a relaxing place to meet and chat). The setting is lovely and it inspires an expectation of good food......but no, it's disappointing. The menu doesn't change. This would be ok if the food was of a good quality and well cooked. It is well presented and the service is very good but that doesn't make up for the awful roast potatoes, bland veg and poor quality meat. The food seems 'heated' rather than cooked and the puddings are disappointing; the ice cream is a good option.

If you like alpacas, this is great. As many revisers have commented, the location of Singleton is absolutely superb; A grand Georgian house in acres of parkland — complete with Alpacas. What could be better? Well some decent food would help. We went as a a family — as guests because of a special occasion, so I certainly could not draw some of the obvious culinary gaffs for the sake of our generous host. This was supposed to be a classic Sunday roast, but was anything but. Limp, tasteless beef and lamb, utterly soggy vegetable, and the worst roast potatoes I have ever seen – inedible, in fact. Pale, lukewarm and greasy, these spuds were the limit of bad kitchen technique. Unbelievable. The beef and lamb: well what can I say, except that they were certainly not freshly roasted. I may be mistaken, but they could even have been frozen joints. The whole meal was pretty grim. They were able to rustle up some reasonable starters and puddings – not bad at all. And the staff were jaunty and friendly. But someone really should – out of good restaurant manners – ask their customers the mandatory question "is everything alright". The staff should have noticed that nobody touched the greasy pale so-called roast potatoes, and only a tiny amount of the quite horrible veg. For goodness sake, stop resting on your laurels and start cooking properly. And do train your staff to notice if their customers are leaving half their food!

After reading the recent reviews I was a little apprehensive but It looks like I dined on a good night. My starter of mushrooms in a pastry case was tasty and main course of lamb very nice although I wish there had been something other than the standard broccoli and carrots which so many restaurants are serving at the moment. Not large portions but enough veg to go with it. Didn't have a pud as, like the broccoli and carrots, most of the puds were the same as in many restaurants. Something unusual would have been appreciated. Coffee ok.Would have given this establishment 3* if it hadn't been for the views and setting. Difficult to book due to the number of weddings and functions held.

Poor cuisine, served in a dull looking room. White tablecloths looked good - let down by paper serviettes and cheap looking cutlery!Tasteless, dry, reheated bread offered. Starters best part of meal. Main courses did not have an attractive appearance and served with basic carrots and broccoli. Home made sweets? Well if that was the case, why were they still frozen in the centres? We all had a different meals, but overall thought that the standard of food and presentation was very, very low. This venue is in a beautiful setting and could aspire to 'fine dining'; however, at the moment they are a million miles away from that standard. The front-of-house seemed to be run by teenage, inexperienced staff.

Although there have obvious exceptions, Blackpool and its surrounding area, the Fylde, is not noted for being a gastronomic hotbed. Disappointments abound. Singleton Lodge is a most welcome exception to this generalisation. We had dinner there in late July in a family group of 7 and not one of the party found anything, large or small, about which a criticism could be leveled. All were agreed that the meal was excellent and I can vouch that the price was reasonable. As the name suggests, the establishment is in an old modestly-sized country house set in large grounds on the outskirts of a small village. Inside there is a warm unfussy ambience with none of the tackiness which can be a disheartening feature in many establishments in this part of the world. The menu is not a huge tour de force of everything gastronomic but concentrates mainly on English cuisine. Consequently, it is sensibly sized. Despite this, none of us felt restricted in our choice. The Chef has clearly decided to offer a range of what she/he can freshly prepare from, I believe, mainly local sources without having to sacrifice quality in preparation by having to have too many dishes readily available. This is helped by the modest number of diners who can be accommodated at any one time. Booking is, therefore, to be recommended. The wine list is more than adequate both in range and quality and the mark-up doesn't make your eyes water. The staff are competent, helpful and friendly. With all that said, the food is the most important thing going in a restaurant and in Singleton Lodge it was very impressive.

We have dined here several times whilst on holiday in the area and always enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. This time, unfortunately, the bar and restaurant were empty when we arrived - hence no atmosphere. The duck on noodles was pretty salty - as folk who don't use salt in any cooking, or on the table, it really was far too much. The creme brulee was superb.
